Methylprednisolone을 첨가한 GIK용액의 심근보호효과에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the myocardial protection effect of the methylprednisolone mixed GIK solution)

  • Although corticosteroid have been shown to stabilize lysosomal membranes and prevent release of hydrolytic enzymes, the mechanism of membrane stabilization remains obscure. This study described functional assessment of efficiency of methylprednisolone in GIK solution by using a isolated Rat Heart Model. Isolated rat heart were subjected to a 2-minute period of coronary infusion with a cold GIK or methylprednisolone mixed cold GIK solution immediately before and also at the midpoint of a 60-minute period of hypothermic [$10{\pm}1^{\circ}C$] ischemic arrest. The result of this were as follow: 1.Spontaneous heart beat after ischemic arrest occurred 11 second later after Langendorffs reperfusion in the methylprednisolone mixed GIK group and 14 second later in the control group. 2.The percentage of recoveries of heart rate at 30 minute after postischemic working heart perfusion was 88.6\ulcorner.6% in the methylprednisolone mixed GIK group. This percentage of recovery was not significantly greater than the control group. 3.The percentage of heart function at 30 minute after postischemic working heart perfusion were; peak aortic pressure $90.8{\pm}4.5%$ coronary flow $87.5{\pm}1.45$ and aortic flow $74.9{\pm}11.8%$ in the methylprednisolone mixed GIK group. This percentage of recovery was significantly greater than the control group. [p<0.05]

에너지수지를 고려한 혐기성소화시설의 운영방안 (Operational Strategy of Anaerobic Digesters Considering Energy Balance)

  • Anaerobic digestion system is getting more attractive in that it produces biogas in the process of organic waste stabilization. Net energy production is important when biogas production is concerned. In this study, net energy production was evaluated with respect to biogas production and heat losses in a hypothetical digester. Under the condition of digester operation with slurry inflow of 5% of TS, additional fuel is required to maintain digester temperature during the winder season. Substrate therefore, needs to have higher VS contents through co-digestion of silage or food waste that has greater values of methane production rate. Heating input slurry is important in cold season, which covers over 80% of heating requirement. Heat recovery from digestate is valuable to reduce the use of biogas for heating. It seems desirable to minimize slurry inflow when temperature is very low. Psychrophilic digestion may be a feasible option for reducing heating requirement.

  • Emergency medicine(EM) is the specialty of evaluating, stabilizing and initiating treatment for patients with life or limb-threatening illnesses or injuries. Techniques unique to the specialty of EM are the triage systems, quick stabilization methods, and emergency surgery procedures. The field of EM encompasses areas such as emergency department management, disaster planning and management, the management of emergency medical service(EMS) systems, research into such areas as brain and heart resuscitation, trauma and disaster management, survival medicine, and environmental emergencies(cold and heat injuries, poisioning, decompression sickness and barotrauma). Today, in addition to providing emergency care, the emergency specialists have moral and legal obligations to assess and report probable cases of child and spouse abuse, sexual assault, and alcohol and drug abuse. Future, the EM should provide surveillance, identification, intervention, and evaluation of injury and disease, therefore EM will remain as a key component of evolving community health care system.

Severe Hypothermia Accompanying Acute Subdural Hemorrhage

  • Hypothermia is relatively a common condition and most cases involve mild hypothermia. But severe hypothermia below $30^{\circ}C$ is medical an emergency condition. We report the case of a 41-year-old man who had been left in a manhole for more than 9 hours on a freezing cold water. He was transported to our emergency room in semicomatose state with a body temperature $26.5^{\circ}C$. The patient was warmed with active rewarming. After initial stabilization, the patient was taken for a brain computed tomography and found to have large fronto-temporo-parietal[FTP] subdural hemorrhage. The patient underwent an emergent decompressive craniectomy and hematoma evacuation. After surgery, he recovered to drowsy mentation and vital signs were stable.

Hydrosilylation of Photoluminescent Porous Silicon with Aromatic Molecules; Stabilization of Photoluminescence and Anti-photobleaching Properties of Surface-Passivated Luminescent Porous Silicon

  • A luminescent porous silicon sensor, whose surface was passivated with organic molecule via hydrosilylation under various conditions, has been researched to measure the photoluminescence (PL) stability of porous silicon (PSi). Photoluminescent PSi were synthesized by an electrochemical etching of n-type silicon wafer under the illumination with a 300 W tungsten filament bulb during the etching process. The PL of PSi displayed at 650 nm, which is due to the quantum confinement of silicon quantum dots in the PSi. To stabilized the photoluminescence of PSi, the hydrosilylation of PSi with silole molecule containg vinyl group was performed. Surface morphologies of fresh PSi and surface-modified PSi were obtained with a cold FE-SEM. Optical characterization of red photoluminescent silicon quantum dots was investigated by UV-vis and fluorescence spectrometer.

영구동토 급속안정화를 위한 롤타입강재매트의 모델링과 해석(I) - 해석모델의 수립 - (Modelling and Analysis of Roll-Type Steel Mats for Rapid Stabilization of Permafrost (I) - Modeling -)

  • 본 논문에서는 표준트럭하중을 받는 연약지반에 놓인 롤타입 강재매트의 모델링과 해석을 수행하였다. 롤 타입 강재매트는 접근성이 제한된 동토지역에서 손쉬운 현장운반을 위해 원형으로 접을 수 있는 강재매트를 의미하며, 동토지반의 융해로 형성되는 연약지반을 통과하는 비포장도로의 급속보강을 위해 개발되었다. 해석 모델은 강재매트 연결부의 비선형적 거동특성을 모사할 수 있는 연결요소, 강재매트의 휨강성을 갖는 쉘요소, 지반특성을 고려한 스프링 구속으로 구성된다. 또한 각 해석요소들의 구조적 거동은 각 모델링 단계에서 실험과 해석을 통해 검증되었다. 링크요소가 없는 빔과 쉘 요소해석이 수행되었으며, 본 연구에서 제시된 해석모델의 결과와 비교하였다. 해석결과, 본 연결부를 고려한 쉘 해석모델의 수직 처짐 결과가 다른 모델에 비하여 상당히 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서, 느슨한 모래지반에 놓인 롤 타입 강재매트의 해석모델은 면밀한 변수해석 연구에 근거하여야 함을 알 수 있다.

근대적 중앙은행제도로서의 제정 한국은행법: 검토 및 평가 (The Bank of Korea Act Enacted as an Apparatus for Modern Central Banking: A Review and Evaluation)

  • 한국은행법 제정(1950.5.5)과 한국은행 설립(1950.6.12)으로 우리나라 최초의 근대적 중앙은행제도가 도입되었다. 연준 직원 2명(블룸필드 미션: A. Bloomfield와 J. Jensen)이 1949년 9월 방한하여 약 반년 동안 작성한 법률 초안이 제정 한국은행법의 모태였다. 그럼에도, 블룸필드 미션이 기술지원을 수행하게 된 경위나 시대적 맥락에 대한 본격적 분석은 지금껏 거의 없는 것으로 보인다. 연준이사회 직원이던 타마냐(F. Tamagna)가 미국 ECA 대표 자격으로 제시한 제안을 한국정부가 받아들였다는 정도의 사실만 알려져 있을 뿐이다. 이 글은 우선 사료(史料)를 통해 블룸필드 미션의 성립 경위를 재구성하고 당시의 시대적 맥락을 파악하고자 시도한다. 1949~50년은 미·소 대립 속에 전 세계가 냉전으로 치닫던 시기였다. 이 글은 블룸필드 미션이 당시 대한 부흥원조당국이던 주한ECA와 함께 미국 대외정책(냉전정책)의 산물이었다는 점과, 동 미션의 기술지원이 처음부터 주한ECA가 추진하던 경제안정화 프로그램의 일환으로 구상·편제되었다는 점을 새롭게 밝힌다. 당시의 시대적 상황을 여건으로 본다면, 이러한 사실은 블룸필드 미션이 역사적 필연이었음을 시사한다. 다음으로, 이 글은 블룸필드 미션의 법률 초안이 완성되는 과정과 재무부로 제출된 동 초안이 정부 검토를 거쳐 국회로 부의된 후 본회의를 통과하기까지의 과정을 각각 조명한 후 제정 한국은행법의 핵심 내용을 검토한다. 한편, 이 글은 법률적 지속성의 관점에서 현행 한국은행법 조문 대부분에서 제정법이 지금도 살아 숨 쉬고 있음을 확인한다. 끝으로, 양질의 제정법이 나오는 데에 기여한 것으로 보이는 다섯 가지 주된 요인도 논의한다.

열 사이펀의 열전도율 산정을 위한 수치해석 모델 개발 (Development of Numerical Analysis Model for the Calculation of Thermal Conductivity of Thermo-syphon)

  • 북극권과 같은 한대지역의 동상민감성 지반은 계절적 대기 온도 변화 및 설치된 구조물의 온도에 의해 지반의 융기 및 침하 문제가 존재한다. 이러한 동상민감성 지반의 융기 및 침하 방지를 위한 지반안정화 공법으로는 매립 및 치환공법, 열 사이펀 등이 존재한다. 여기서 열 사이펀이란 내부 냉매의 증발, 응축을 반복하며 열 순환을 통해 이상 유동(two-phase flow)의 형태로 냉매가 지반의 온도를 외부로 전달하여 지반 온도를 조절 할 수 있는 공법이다. 본 연구는 이러한 열 사이펀의 성능을 열전도율로 수치화하기 위하여 ABAQUS 내부의 User-subroutine 코딩을 통해 열 사이펀을 지중의 한 열원으로 간주, 경계조건으로 적용시켜 기존 문헌의 열 사이펀 실내모형실험의 온도분포 결과와 비교하여 산정하였다.

Performance of cement-stabilized sand subjected to freeze-thaw cycles

  • In cold regions, the integrity of the infrastructures built on weak soils can be extensively damaged by weathering actions due to the cyclic freezing and thawing. This damage can be mitigated by exploiting soil stabilization techniques. Generally, ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is the most commonly used binding material for investigating the chemo-hydromechanical behavior. However, due to the environmental issue of OPC producing a significant amount of carbon dioxide emission, calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement can be used as one of the eco-sustainable alternatives. Although recently several studies have examined the strength development of CSA treated sand, no research has been concerned about CSA cement-stabilized sand affected by cyclic freeze and thaw. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive laboratory work to assess the effect of the cyclic freeze-thaw action on strength and durability of CSA cement-treated sand. For this purpose, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) tests were performed on the stabilized soil specimens cured for 7 and 14 days which are subjected to 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 freeze-thaw cycles. The test results show that the strength and durability index of the samples decrease with the increase of the freeze-thaw cycles. The loss of the strength and durability considerably decreases for all soil samples subjected to the freeze-thaw cycles. Overall, the use of CSA as a stabilizer for sandy soils would be an eco-friendly option to achieve sufficient strength and durability against the freeze-thaw action in cold regions.

Application of Irradiation Technology to Preserving and Improving Qualities of Agricultural Products

  • Potential applications of irradiation technology inpostharvest handling of agricultural products have been documented over the past five decades. The biological effects of ionizing radiation on food were demonstrated to have the potential both of reducing the storage losses by controlling spoilage microoraganisms, insects, to have the potential both of reducing the storge losses by controlling spoiliage microorganisms, insects, sprouting and ripening, and of improving the hygienic quality of raw and processed products. Food irradiation is recognized as a physical and cold process using gamma-rays from radioisotope sources and electron-beam from the accelerator. As one of the technologies or techniques for preserving and improving the safety of food, irradiated technology has been approved in some 40 countries for more than 200 individeual items of foods and of these about 30 countries including Korea are commerically utilizing this technology. Although limited quantities of irradiated foods are available in the market now, the proper uses of this renewed technology will offer great possibilities not only for increasing the availability of postharvest agricultural products, thereby contributing to price stabilization in the off-season, but also for reducing reliance on chemicals used for sanitary and quarantine requirements. This paper deals with biological actions of ionizing radiation and its potential applications in the agri-food industry from the international point of view.
