낮은 상관 관계를 갖는 자동차 공력 소음에 대한 음향 홀로그래피 (Application of Acoustic Holography to Automobile Aeroacoustic Noise of Low Coherence)

  • Acoustic holography is applied to automobile aeroacoustic noise. Automobile aeroacoustic noise has low coherence due to multiple independent sources and measurement noise. This paper discusses the reliability of acoustic holography on this low coherence condition. Main subjects are the number and position of reference microphones, which is used for a step-by-step scanning method, and measurement noise. A real automobile experiment verifies the results.

범주 응집성과 기저율의 상호작용이 선호의 이유 추정에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Interaction between Category Coherence and Base Rate on Presumption of Reasons for Preference)

  • 복장이나 언행에서 유사성이 높고, 다른 범주와 구분이 용이한 군인이나 수녀들이 가진 속성은 일반화되기 쉽다는 범주 응집성 효과 연구에는 어느 정도 진전이 있었다. 그러나 이러한 범주 응집성 효과의 근본에 어떤 심리적 기제가 있는지에 대한 직접적인 연구가 드물었기에 본 연구에서 다루어보고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 응집성이 높은 범주(수녀, 군인, 비행기승무원)와 낮은 범주(통역사, 웨딩플래너, 플로리스트)를 선정한 후, 두 가지 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 1은 응집성이 높은 범주에서 [속성X]가 반복 관찰될 때가 응집성 낮은 범주에서 [속성X]가 반복 관찰될 때보다 해당 범주 구성원이 [속성X]를 선호할 만한 이유가 있을 것으로 추정하는 정도(선호의 이유 추정 정도)가 높아지는 현상을 관찰하였다. 실험 2는 응집성이 높은 범주의 경우, 일상적으로 드물게 나타나는 [속성X](기저율 30%)이 관찰될 때는 선호의 이유 추정 정도가 높아지지만, 일상에서 자주 나타나는 [속성Y](기저율 70%)가 관찰될 때는 선호의 이유 추정 정도가 낮아지는 현상을 관찰하였고, 응집성이 낮은 범주의 경우, 일상에서 드물게 나타나는 속성과 자주 나타나는 속성 모두 선호의 이유 추정 정도가 낮은 경향을 확인하였다. 즉 범주 응집성과 기저율의 이원 상호작용이 선호의 이유 추정 정도에 미치는 효과가 유의하였다. 본 연구가 심리학적 본질주의, 고정관념 형성에 시사점을 가진다는 것에 대해 논의하였다.

IEEE 802.11n에서 전송속도 조절기법의 성능 향상을 위한 Coherence Time 예측 방식 (Coherence Time Estimation for Performance Improvement of IEEE 802.11n Link Adaptation)

  • IEEE 802.11n 표준은 새로운 방식의 전송속도 조절기법(Link adaptation)을 위한 기반을 제공한다. 802.11n에서 채널의 변화로부터 최대한의 이득을 얻기 위해, 한 단말은 다른 단말에게 Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) 피드백을 요청할 수 있다. 그러나 무선 채널의 상태는 시간에 따라 변한다. MCS 피드백 요청으로부터 피드백 받은 정보의 적용까지 걸린 시간이 특정 값보다 커지면 그 사이의 채널 상태 변화로 언해 피드백 받은 정보는 쓸모없어지게 된다. 단말이 무선채널 상태의 변화 정도를 추정할 수 있다면 전송속도 조절기법의 정확도를 개선할 수 있다. 이 논문은 크게 두 항목에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 첫째, NS-2 시뮬레이션을 통해 802.11n에서 coherence time이 MCS 피드백 기반 전송속도 조절기법의 성능에 어떤 영향을 마치는지 분석한다. 둘째로, 이 논문은 전송속도 조절기법의 성능에 큰 영향을 주는 채널의 coherence time을 추정하는 효율적인 방법을 제시한다. Allan variance 정보 통계를 활용하여 단말은 수신 링크의 coherence time을 추정할 수 있다. 추정한 coherence 기반의 Link adaptation에 적용할 경우 기존의 기법보다 더 나은 성능을 얻을 수 있다.

APPLICATION OF BACKSCATTER AND COHERENCE DATA ON C AND L BAND FOR LANDCOVER IDENTIFICATION IN TROPICS

  • Use of coherence data from operational satellite based SAR sensors has been experimented both on C and L band to identify landcover in tropics. While coherence data proved useful to improve accuracy in landcover identification, such data are not readily available. On the other hand, integrated use of backcatter data by multiple satellites is readily feasible. The very question to be asked is whether integration of backscatter data on multiple bands (e.g. C and L band) is either inferior or superior to use of coherence data. We therefore still do not have a solid clue to answer to the very question. The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of "integrated use" of backscatter data on C and L band (by ERS and JERS respectively) to identify landcover, vis-a-vis the same by combination of backscatter and coherence data by single satellite. The study was carried out for an area in the southern part of the Sumatra Island, Indonesia. The area has been intensively converted from natural forest into plantation. Five categories of landcover exist in this study area. By ERS-1, only 2 or 3 classes may be identified with the backscatter data alone, while adding the coherence data could delineate 4 classes. By JERS-1, only 3 to 4 classes may be identified with the backscatter data alone, while 4 classes could be clearly delineated by adding the coherence data. By integrating backscatter data on two bands, 4 to 5 classes may be identified. It represents the best results among cases examined. The outcome of the study suggests that integrated use of backscatter data on two bands by ERS and JERS is as powerful as use of backscatter and coherence data on single band by one of these satellite.

Spanwise coherent structure of wind turbulence and induced pressure on rectangular cylinders

  • Studying the spatial distribution in coherent fields such as turbulence and turbulence-induced force is important to model and evaluate turbulence-induced forces and response of structures in the turbulent flows. Turbulence field-based coherence function is commonly used for the spatial distribution characteristic of the turbulence-induced forces in the frequency domain so far. This paper will focus to study spectral coherent structure of the turbulence and induced forces in not only the frequency domain using conventional Fourier transform-based coherence, but also temporo-spectral coherence one in the time-frequency plane thanks to wavelet transform-based coherence for better understanding of the turbulence and force coherences and their spatial distributions. Effects of spanwise separations, bluff body flow, flow conditions and Karman vortex on coherent structures of the turbulence and induced pressure, comparison between turbulence and pressure coherences as well as intermittency of the coherent structure in the time-frequency plane will be investigated here. Some new findings are that not only the force coherence is higher than the turbulence coherence, the coherences of turbulence and forces depend on the spanwise separation as previous studies, but also the coherent structures of turbulence and forces relate to the ongoing turbulence flow and bluff body flow, moreover, intermittency in the time domain and low spectral band is considered as the nature of the coherent structure. Simultaneous measurements of the surface pressure and turbulence have been carried out on some typical rectangular cylinders with slenderness ratios B/D=1 (without and with splitter plate) and B/D=5 under the artificial turbulent flows in the wind tunnel.

능동 음향센서 배열신호의 공간 상관성 측정 (Measurement of Spatial Coherence of Active Acoustic Sensor Array Signal)

  • 동해와 남해에서 능동 음향센서 배열 신호를 측정하고, 신호의 공간 상관성을 분석하였다. 주변소음, 표적신호, 해수면과 후방산란 신호, 해상풍, 수직 수온을 25시간 동안 동시에 관측하였다. 남해 측정에서는 분석결과로 부터 주변소음의 공간 상관성이 표적신호 보다 매우 낮고, 표적신호는 전체 음향센서에서 0.5 이상의 상관성을 보였다. 동해 측정에서는 해수면 잔향 신호의 공간 상관성은 해수면 입사각이 클때 높고, 상관성이 0.5이상인 무차원화된 배열의 최대길이는 26도의 입사각에서 3.0, 32도의 입사각에서 3.5였다. 배열센서의 형상과 배열성능을 결정하는 기준이 되는 공간 상관성 파악을 위해서는 향후에 다양한 시공간 변동을 포함한 지속적인 관측이 필요하다.

조현병 환자에서 성별에 따른 검지 대 약지의 길이 비율과 뇌파 동시성의 관련성 (The Sex-Related Differences of Relationships between 2D : 4D Ratio and Electroencephalographic Coherence in Patients with Schizophrenia Compared with Controls)

  • Objectives Prenatal testosterone is known to influence both cerebral laterality and 2nd to 4th digit ratio (2D : 4D). Epigenetic changes are thought to play some role in it. We studied sex-related differences between 2D : 4D and cerebral laterality in patients with schizophrenia and controls to examine the effects of prenatal testosterone in the development of schizophrenia. Methods Forty one men (18 schizophrenic patients and 23 controls) and 40 women (17 schizophrenic patients and 23 controls) were recruited from one psychiatric hospital in Korea. The 2D : 4D and electroencephalographic (EEG) coherence in 19 channels (66 pairs of interhemispheric coherence and 54 pairs of intrahemispheric coherence) were measured. The sex-related statistical analyses between 2D : 4D and EEG coherence in controls and patients with schizophrenia were performed using multiple regression. Results In male patients, the relationship between 2D : 4D and right intrahemispheric EEG coherence showed mainly positive correlation in delta and theta frequency bands, while it showed negative correlation in male controls. In female patients, the relationship between 2D : 4D and interhemispheric EEG coherence showed stronger positive correlation in alpha and beta frequency bands, while it showed weaker positive correlation in female controls. Conclusions Low prenatal testosterone may play certain roles in altered correlation between 2D : 4D and cerebral laterality in schizophrenia and the development of schizophrenia by epigenetic mechanism.

간호연구 질 평가 도구 및 보고지침 고찰 (Quality Assessment Tools and Reporting Standards in Nursing Research)

  • Purpose: Quality of nursing research should be evaluated before it is applied as an evidence for evidence-based nursing practice. This study attempted to analyze and to compare tools for the quality assessment and reporting standards of nursing research using CONSORT and STROBE checklist by types of research design. Methods: We searched the tools for quality assessment in nursing research based on the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA) publication. Then, we analysed and compared the tools for quality evaluation by types of research design. Results: According to the analysis using CONSORT checklist, ROB shows coherence in 17 items, Jadad shows coherence in 3 items, SIGN (for RCT) shows coherence in 26 items, and Downs & Black shows coherence in 24 items. According to the analysis using STROBE checklist, MINORS shows coherence in 25 items, NOS shows coherence in 21 items, SIGN (for Cohort studies & Case-control studies) shows coherence in 29 items, and RoBANS shows coherence in 21 items. Conclusion: Based on our analysis, we recommend that nursing researchers should report according to the reporting standards of tools for quality evaluation. We hope that our analysis can be helpful to develop evidence-based nursing.

Analysis of the Effect of Coherence Bandwidth on Leakage Suppression Methods for OFDM Channel Estimation

  • In this paper, we analyze the effect of the coherence bandwidth of wireless channels on leakage suppression methods for discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based channel estimation in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Virtual carriers in an OFDM symbol cause orthogonality loss in DFT-based channel estimation, which is referred to as the leakage problem. In order to solve the leakage problem, optimal and suboptimal methods have already been proposed. However, according to our analysis, the performance of these methods highly depends on the coherence bandwidth of wireless channels. If some of the estimated channel frequency responses are placed outside the coherence bandwidth, a channel estimation error occurs and the entire performance worsens in spite of a high signal-to-noise ratio.

동시통역과 시각적 응집성 - 독한 통역을 중심으로 - (Perspective Coherence in Simultaneous Interpreting - with Reference to German-Korean Interpreting -)

  • In simultaneous interpreting, if the syntactic structure of the source language and the target language are very different, interpreters have to wait before being able to reformulate the source text segments into a meaningful utterance in target language. It is inevitable to adapt the target language structure to that of the source language so as not to unduly increase the memory load and to minimize the pause. While such adaptation enables simultaneous interpretating, it results in damaging the perspective coherence of the text. Discovering when such perspective coherence is impaired, and how the problem can be relieved, will enable interpreters to enhance their performance. This paper analyses the reasons for perspective coherence damage by looking at some examples of German-Korean simultaneous interpreting.
