대학생의 구강건강관련 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life among College Students)

  • Objectives: This study examined the factors affecting the quality of life relating to oral health using OHIP-14 of college students. Also, this was to help college students to enhance their oral health. Methods: A Total of 334 self-administered questionnaires were collected from university student in Cheon-an. The statistical methods used for data analysis were the descriptive statistics, Independent samples t-test, One-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis. Results: First, A month pocket money and coffee consumption were significantly related to functional and physical Oral health foctor. Second, A month pocket money and coffee consumption were significantly related to Mental and social Oral health foctor. Finally, multiple linear regression analysis showed that a month pocket money, coffee consumption have a negative effect on the quality of life relating to oral health, Whereas an experience of oral health education a positive effect on this. Conclusion: Oral health related quality of life should be improved by investigating the factors affecting oral health and thus developing the program enhancing the oral health to prevent oral disease. In addition, in order to health promotion physical, mental, social, including the oral health, program development and research incessant must be carried out.

한국 성인의 커피 섭취 유형에 따라 비만 및 복부비만에 미치는 영향 연구 : 2013 ~ 2016 국민건강영양조사 자료 활용 (Association with obesity and abdominal obesity according to the kind and amount of coffee intake in Korean adults: 2013~ 2016 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey)

  • 본 연구는 제 6기 (2013 ~ 2015년), 제 7기 1년차 (2016년) 국민건강영양조사 자료를 활용하여 만 19세 이상 성인 13,429명 (남 : 5,284명, 여 : 8,145명)을 대상으로 커피 섭취빈도 및 섭취 방법이 비만과 복부비만에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 수행하였다. 커피 섭취빈도 및 섭취방법은 국민건강영양조사 자료 중 식품섭취빈도조사지의 커피, 설탕, 프림 섭취 빈도를 활용하여 하루 단위의 커피 섭취횟수와 커피 섭취 유형을 분류한 후 비만 및 복부비만의 위험도에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 커피 섭취횟수를 보면 커피 미섭취군 11.6%, 하루 1회 미만 22.3%, 하루 1회 18.5%, 하루 2회 23.7%, 하루 3회 이상 23.9%로 조사대상자의 65% 이상은 하루 1회 이상 커피를 섭취하였고, 커피 섭취자 중 블랙커피 섭취자 보다는 믹스커피 섭취자가 2배 이상 많았다. 커피 미섭취군에 비해 하루 3회 이상 커피 섭취군에서 에너지, 탄수화물 및 당 섭취량이 유의적으로 높았을 뿐만 아니라, 비만과 복부비만자의 비율 역시 유의적으로 많았다. 커피 섭취가 비만 발생의 위험에 미치는 영향을 보면 커피 미섭취군에 비해 하루 2회 섭취군에서 1.30 (95% CI: 1.08 ~ 1.57), 하루 3회 이상 섭취군에서 1.33 (95% CI: 1.11 ~ 1.60)으로 나타나 하루 2회 이상의 커피 섭취는 비만과 복부비만 발생의 위험을 30% 정도 증가시켰고, 복부비만의 위험은 커피 비섭취군에 비해 하루 1회 미만 섭취군 1.27 (95% CI: 1.02 ~ 1.57), 하루 1회 섭취군 1.34 (95% CI: 1.08 ~ 1.66), 하루 2회 섭취군 1.35 (95% CI: 1.09 ~ 1.67), 하루 3회 이상 섭취군 1.40 (95% CI: 1.14 ~ 1.72)로 나타나 하루 1회 이상의 커피 섭취는 복부비만의 위험을 34% 정도 높였으며, 성별에 상관없이 커피 섭취는 커피 미섭취자에 비해 비만과 복부비만 발생의 위험을 증가시키는 경향을 보였다. 커피 섭취방법에 따른 차이를 보면 전체 대상자의 경우 블랙커피와 믹스커피 모두 비만과 복부비만 발생의 위험을 증가시키는 추이를 보였으나, 성별에 따라서는 커피 섭취방법에 따라 차이를 보였다. 블랙커피의 경우 남성에서는 복부비만 발생의 위험을, 여성에서는 비만 발생의 위험을 증가시키는 추이를 보였고, 믹스커피의 경우 남성은 하루 3회 이상 섭취 시, 여성은 하루 2회 이상 섭취 시 비만과 복부비만의 위험을 34% 정도 증가시켰다. 본 연구결과 성별에 따라 커피를 섭취하는 방법이 비만과 복부비만에 미치는 영향에 차이를 보이긴 하였으나, 전체대상자를 보았을 때 커피의 종류에 상관없이 커피섭취는 비만 및 복부비만 발생의 위험을 증가시킬 수 있는 식이요인으로 나타나고 있으므로 비만 및 만성질환의 예방을 위해서는 커피 섭취 유형 및 적정수준의 커피섭취량에 대한 가이드라인을 제시할 필요가 있으며, 이들 위한 근거자료로 본 연구결과를 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

커피 찌꺼기의 카페인 용출 및 산화분해 특성 (Extraction of Caffeine from Spent Coffee Grounds and Oxidative Degradation of Caffeine)

  • During the past few decades, significant increase in the consumption of coffee has led to rapid increase in the production of coffee waste in South Korea. Spent coffee waste is often treated as a general waste and is directly disposed without the necessary treatment. Spent Coffee Grounds (SCGs) can release several organic contaminants, including caffeine. In this study, leaching tests were conducted for SCGs and oxidative degradation of caffeine were also conducted. The tested SCGs contained approximately 4.4 mg caffeine per gram of coffee waste. Results from the leaching tests show that approximately 90% of the caffeine can be extracted at each step during sequential extraction. Advanced oxidation methods for the degradation of caffeine, such as $UV/H_2O_2$, photo-Fenton reaction, and $UV/O_3$, were tested. UV radiation has a limited effect on the degradation of caffeine. In particular, UV-A and UV-B radiations present in sunlight cause marginal degradation, thereby indicating that natural degradation of caffeine is minimal. However, $O_3$ can cause rapid degradation of caffeine, and the values of pseudo-first order rate constants were found to be ranging from $0.817min^{-1}$ to $1.506min^{-1}$ when the ozone generation rate was $37.1g/m^3$. Additionally, the degradation rate of caffeine is dependent on the wavelength of irradiation.

A Study on the Private Consumption Value of Franchise Companies: A Comparison of Foreign and Domestic Brand Consumers

  • Purpose - The relationship between personal consumption value and brand trust and brand attitude, brand trust and brand attitude, and brand loyalty was analyzed at a time when customers visiting domestic and foreign brands with mutual competition recognized the coffee shop as a new cultural space. Research design, data, and methodology - To examine these research models, samples were collected from 348 peoples who visited Coffee Franchise Companies during March to April, 2019. Results - The results of the study showed that Most of the assumptions about consumers' personal consumption values and brand trust, brand attitude and brand loyalty were adopted. This shows that there is a positive and organic relationship between these variables. Conclusions - Consumers' personal consumption values are found to have a positive impact on brand trust and brand attitudes. This means that the more positive an individual's consumption value is, the more confidence and likability a brand has. Brand trust has been shown to have a positive impact on brand attitudes. Brand attitudes and brand trust also have a positive impact on brand loyalty. This means efficient management of brand trust and brand attitudes in chain service companies is necessary.

한국 성인의 커피 섭취량에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Coffee Intake in Korean Adults)

  • 본 연구는 한국 성인들이 커피 섭취 시 어떠한 상황에 가장 많이 마시게 되는지를 살펴보고, 커피 섭취와 건강증진에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 이 연구는 국민건강영양조사 제7기 2차년도인 2017년 원시 데이터를 활용하였고, 연구대상자는 만 19세 이상 성인에 대해 결측값을 제외한 3,325명이었다. 이는 최근 1년간 커피의 평균 섭취량이 1잔 이상인 경우만을 추출한 수이다. 커피 섭취량에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위하여 일반적 특성으로 성별, 연령, 가구소득, 교육수준, 직업, 건강행태로는 흡연여부, 음주여부, 일 및 여가로서 고강도, 중강도, 걷기 신체활동 실천 여부, 수면시간, 스트레스, 우울여부 등에 영항을 받는지를 모형에 포함하였다. 연구결과 남자보다 여자의 커피 섭취량이 낮았고, 20-39세보다 40-64세, 무직보다는 육체적 직업, 비흡연자보다는 흡연자, 낮은 스트레스보다 높은 스트레스를 받는 경우가 커피 섭취량을 증가시키는 요인이었다. 이러한 요인을 가진 대상자들은 커피 섭취에 의한 카페인 과다 섭취의 위험 군으로 판단된다. 본 연구결과의 위험 군을 대상자로 커피의 과다 섭취가 건강에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구가 추후 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

Beverage consumption among Korean adolescents: data from 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Association between the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and obesity is universally a controversial issue. This study was undertaken to examine the beverage consumption pattern of Korean adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Data was collected from the 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey involving 65,528 adolescent respondents. A list of the most frequently consumed beverages was analyzed, and the consumption frequency of carbonated beverages, SSBs, and energy drinks during the past seven-days was assessed. The main reasons for the adolescents to consume the beverages were also determined. RESULTS: The beverage preference of adolescents were carbonated beverages (31.0%), 'fruit and vegetable beverages (17.7%)', 'milk (13.6%)', and 'coffee (12.7%)'. Carbonated beverages and SSBs were consumed more than three times a week by 27.1% and 41.1% of the respondents, respectively. About 86.2% of adolescents did not take of any energy drinks during the last seven-days. Taste was the most common reason that adolescents considered when choosing a drink. Carbonated beverages consumed more frequently by boys than girls, and high school students drank coffee more frequently than middle school students. CONCLUSIONS: Boys had a higher preference for unhealthy beverages than girls, whereas consumption of high-caffeine drinks was greater amongst high-school students than middle school students.

Characteristics of direct transesterification using ultrasound on oil extracted from spent coffee grounds

  • Spent coffee grounds (SCG), the residue after brewing coffee beverage, is a promising biodiesel feedstock due to its high oil contents (15-20%). However, SCG should be pretreated to reduce the high free fatty acid content, which hampers transesterification reaction. To overcome this, we explored a direct transesterification reaction of SCG using ultrasound irradiation and identified the optimal sonication parameters. A high fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content, up to 97.2%, could be achieved with ultrasound amplitude of 99.2 ㎛, irradiation time of 10 min, and methanol to oil ratio of 7:1 in the presence of potassium hydroxide concentration of 1.25 wt.%. In addition, we demonstrated that ultrasound irradiation is an efficient method to produce biodiesel from untreated SCG in a short time with less energy than the conventional mechanical stirring method. The physical and chemical properties of the SCG biodiesel met the requirements for an alternative fuel to the current commercial biodiesel.

커피전문점 이용자의 기능적 일치성과 자아일치성이 소비감정과 점포태도형성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Functional-congruity and Self-congruity on Coffee Shop User's Consumption-related Emotions and Store Attitude Formation)

  • 본 연구는 커피전문점 이용자의 기능적 일치성과 자아일치성이 긍정적 감정과 부정적 감정에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 규명하고, 이러한 이차원적인 감정 구조가 커피전문점에 대한 태도형성에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 수행되었다. 서울지역 대학생을 대상으로 총 280부의 자료를 실증분석에 사용하였으며 가설검증을 위해 구조방정식 모형을 이용하였다. 결과를 살펴보면 기능적 일치성은 커피전문점 이용객의 긍정적 감정에 정(+)의 영향을 미치며 부정적 감정에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 자아일치성은 커피전문점 이용객의 긍정적 감정에(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 커피전문점 이용객의 긍정적 감정은 태도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치고 부정적 감정은 태도에 부(-)의 영향을 미친다는 것이 나타났다. 이 같은 결과는 커피전문점 이용자의 기능적 일치성과 자아일치성이 긍정적 감정과 부정적 감정을 매개로 하여 점포태도형성에 영향을 주는 것을 의미한다.

Lifestyle, dietary habits and consumption pattern of male university students according to the frequency of commercial beverage consumptions

  • Because excessive consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages may reduce the quality of nutritional intake, this study examined the consumption patterns of commercial beverages, lifestyle, dietary habits, and perception of sweet taste. Participants were 407 male university students in Kyeooggido, Korea, and information was collected by self-administered questionnaire. Among them, 58 nonsmokers volunteered to participate in the taste test. Participants were divided into three groups according to the frequency of commercial beverage consumptions: 120 rare (< 1 serving/week), 227 moderate (1-3 servings/week) and 133 frequent (> 3 servings/week) consumption groups. More subjects from the rare consumption group chose water, tea, and soy milk, and more from the frequent consumption group chose carbonated soft drinks and coffee (P=0.031) as their favorite drinks. Frequent consumption group consumed fruit juice, coffee, and sports and carbonated soft drinks significantly more often (P=0.002, P=0.000, P=0.000, respectively), but not milk and tea. Frequent consumption group consumed beverages casually without a specific occasion (P=0.000) than rare consumption group. Frequent drinking of commercial beverages was associated with frequent snacking (P=0.002), meal skipping (P=0.006), eating out (P=0.003), eating delivered foods (P=0.000), processed foods (P=0.001), and sweets (P=0.002), and drinking alcoholic beverages (P=0.029). Frequent consumption group tended to have a higher threshold of sweet taste without reaching statistical significance. The results provide information for developing strategies for evidence-based nutrition education program focusing on reducing consumption of unnecessary sugar-sweetened commercial beverages.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between coffee intake and metabolic syndrome, which has increased the burden of social illness, based on the data of the $6^{th}$ National Health and Nutrition Survey in 2015. The subjects' coffee intake level was divided into <1 cup/a day, 1~2 cups/a day, and ${\geq}3cups/a\;day$ and the general characteristics of the subjects were examined according to the classification. The effect of coffee consumption on the risk factors of metabolic syndrome was evaluated by OR value. The age of the subjects was higher than that of the other groups in the < 1 cup/day group and the TG in the prediabetic group was above the normal level in the ${\geq}3cups/day$ group. In the normal group of blood glucose, coffee intake was the highest in <1 cup/day group and BP was significantly different according to intake. In the multiple regression analysis conducted to identify the causal relationship between the risk of metabolic syndrome and coffee intake, BP was significantly decreased in ${\geq}3cups/day$ coffee group in normal group. In order to control the level of blood lipids in pre-diabetic subjects, it is necessary to establish dietary guidelines for foods that are frequently consumed, and various situations and long-term studies are needed to determine the precise effect of coffee intake on BP.
