CERTAIN CURVATURE CONDITIONS ON AN LP-SASAKIAN MANIFOLD WITH A COEFFICIENT α

  • The object of the present paper is to study certain curvature restriction on an LP-Sasakian manifold with a coefficient $\alpha$. Among others it is shown that if an LP-Sasakian manifold with a coefficient $\alpha$ is a manifold of constant curvature, then the manifold is the product manifold. Also it is proved that a 3-dimensional Ricci semisymmetric LP-Sasakian manifold with a constant coefficient $\alpha$ is a spaceform.

임계노즐 유동에 미치는 노즐 곡률의 영향 (Effect of the Nozzle Curvature on Critical Flows)

  • Recently the critical nozzles with small diameter are being extensively used to measure mass flow in a variety of industrial fields and these have different configurations depending on operation condition and working gas. The curvature radius of the critical nozzle throat is one of the most important configuration factors promising a high reliability of the critical nozzle. In the present study, computations using the axisymmetric, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations are carried out to investigate the effect of the nozzle curvature on critical flows. The diameter of the critical nozzle employed is D=0.3mm and the radius of curvature of the critical nozzle throat is varied in the range from 1D to 3D. It is found that the discharge coefficient is very sensitive to the curvature radius(R) of critical nozzle, leading to the peak discharge coefficient at R = 2.0D and 2.5D, and that the critical pressure ratio increases with the curvature radius.

  • This paper presents a modified mean curvature diffusion filter to smooth speckle noise in images. Mean curvature diffusion filter has already shown good results in reducing noise in images while preserving fine details. In the mean curvature diffusion, the rate of smoothing is controlled by the local value of the diffusion coefficient chosen to be a function of the local image gradient magnitude. In this paper, the diffusion coefficient is modified to be controlled adaptively by local image surface slope and heterogeneity. The local surface slope contributes to preserving details (e.g.edges) in image and the local surface heterogeneity helps the smoothing filter consider the amount of noise in both edge and non-edge area. The proposed filter's performance is demonstrated by quantitative experiments using speckle noised aerial image and TerraSAR-X satellite image.

A Study on Correlations for Void Ratio, Coefficient of Uniformity and Coefficient of Curvature for Determination of Relative Density for Sands

  • Determination of geotechnical characteristics of soil is either to use the field samples to measure the characteristics of soil through laboratory test or measuring the characteristics directly in the field. Field test can be derived similar value by considering characteristics of site and laboratory test can be confirmed the characteristic of soil by testing with field samples. This article describes relative density as the measure of compaction for cohesionless soils and presents several simple and mathematical relationships to help engineers estimate needed parameters for relative density calculations. The main purpose of this research is to investigate possible correlations between coefficient of uniformity, coefficient of curvature, maximum and minimum void ratio, mean grain size. Results show a linear relationship between the minimum and maximum void ratios and a power function relationship between coefficient of uniformity and the limiting void ratios. Void ratio range, which is the difference between the maximum and minimum void ratios, appeared to be log normally distributed but showed no simple mathematical fit to the data. these results were shown to help engineers estimate needed parameters for relative density calculations.

  • Anisotropic diffusion is a selective smoothing technique that promotes smoothing within a region instead of smoothing across boundaries. In anisotropic diffusion, the rate of smoothing is controlled by the local value of the diffusion coefficient chosen to be a function of the local image gradient magnitude. El-Fallah and Gary E. Ford represented the image as a surface and proved that setting the inhomogeneous diffusion coefficient equal to the inverse of the magnitude of the surface normal results in surface evolving speed that is proportional to the mean curvature of the image surface. This model has the advantage of having the mean curvature diffusion (MCD) render invariant magnitude, thereby preserving structure and locality. In this paper, the proposed MCD model efficiently reduces diffusion coefficient at the thin edges using the smoothness of the surface.

Two-wheeler Detection System using Histogram of Oriented Gradients based on Local Correlation Coefficients and Curvature

  • Vulnerable road users such as bike, motorcycle, small automobiles, and etc. are easily attacked or threatened with bigger vehicles than them. So this paper suggests a new approach two-wheelers detection system riding on people based on modified histogram of oriented gradients (HOGs) which is weighted by curvature and local correlation coefficient. This correlation coefficient between two variables, in which one is the person riding a bike and other is its background, can represent correlation relation. First, we extract edge vectors using the curvature of Gaussian and Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) which includes gradient information and differential magnitude as cell based. And then, the value, which is calculated by the correlation coefficient between the area of each cell and one of bike, can be used as the weighting factor in process for normalizing the HOG cell. This paper applied the Adaboost algorithm to make a strong classification from weak classification. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm show higher than that of the traditional method and under challenging, such as various two-wheeler postures, complex background, and even conclusion.

초공동 수중운동체 캐비테이터의 항력과 양력특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Investigation of Drag and Lift Characteristics of Cavitator of Supercavitating Underwater Vehicle)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 해수 흡입구를 고려한 초공동 수중운동체 캐비테이터의 항력과 양력특성 및 해수 흡입유로의 입구에서 압력손실에 대해 예측하는 것이다. 흡입구 직경과 유로에서의 속도, 흡입구의 곡률반경 및 캐비테이터의 받음각이 미치는 영향에 대해 유동해석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과 직경비가 커지면, 항력계수와 압력손실계수가 감소하며, 속도비가 증가할 때 항력계수와 양력계수는 감소하고 압력손실계수는 증가한다. 해수 흡입구에 곡률을 주면 항력계수와 양력계수에는 영향을 미치지 않지만, 압력손실계수가 크게 감소한다. 캐비테이터의 받음각은 항력계수와 압력손실계수에 미소한 영향만을 주나, 양력계수를 크게 변화시킨다. 초공동 수중운동체 설계 시 본 연구 결과를 반영할 수 있다.

The Curvature and Shear Effects on the Eddy Viscosity

  • Direct comparisons are made between curvature-corrected eddy viscosity models and the present experimental data. The results show that the curvature effects can be quantified through a curvature parameter R$\sub$c/ or S$\sub$c/ and a non-equilibrium value of p/$\varepsilon$. The data reveal a significant dependence of the eddy viscosity on the curvature and strain history for a fluid in a stabilizing curvature field, S$\sub$c/>1.0. Especially, experimental result shows that the eddy viscosity coefficient ratio at S$\sub$c/=3 changes from 10 to -10 although shear rate preserved constant. It is therefore suggested that proper curvature modifications, particularly the strain history effect, must be introduced into current eddy viscosity models for their application to turbulent flows subjected to curvature straining field for a non-negligible period of time.

  • In the prestressed concrete structures, the effective prestressing force of tendon is basically most important item for structural safety and serviceability. The frictional loss is one of the major items for determinating the effective prestressing force and depend on the construction accuracy of the structures. In this thesis, it will be analyzed and found through measured hydraulic jack pressure, tendon elongation and prestressing control system that the tendancy of apparent curvature friction coefficient, the ratio of jacking force and required prestressing force, the ratio of initial jacking force and required prestressing force and compatibility of specified friction loss coefficient. The specified control limit for curvature friction coefficient of prestressing control system is about 0.25 and wobble friction coefficient 0.005. Thus, the control limit should be modified according to changed vale of friction coefficient.

연약지반에 위치한 터널 바닥부 곡률의 보강효과에 대한 수치해석적 민감도 분석 (Numerical sensitivity analysis for the reinforcement effect of a curvature of a tunnel floor on soft grounds)

  • 매년 기존 도로 터널의 개소 및 연장이 증가하는 만큼 시공 중 붕락 및 융기사고가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 터널 사고 중 붕괴가 주를 이루어 상대적으로 융기와 관련된 연구가 미흡한 상태이다. 이에 터널 하부를 보강하는 많은 연구가 진행되어 오고 있으나, 터널 바닥부 곡률에 대한 분석이 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 바닥부 곡률은 물론이고, 토피가 큰 응회암 변질대에 위치한 터널의 상부 해석영역 높이 및 측압계수가 안정성에 미치는 영향을 민감도 분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 해석 결과 전반적으로 바닥부 곡률이 커질수록, 측압계수가 작을수록, 상부 해석영역이 높을수록 터널의 안정성이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
