In this study, we studied optical properties on the layer-by-layer (LbL) assemblies consisting of Au nanorods and organic dyes. For this purpose, poly (allylamine hydrochloride), PAH and poly (styrene sulfonate), PSS were selected as ionic polymers and rhodamine B isothiocyanate (RB) was utilized as an organic dye based on its spectral overlap with plasmon band of Au nanorods. In the view point of assembling methods, RB was covalently attached to PAH, then, LbL structure of Au [PSS/PAH]2/PSS/PAH-RB was prepared by sequential coating of PAH, PSS, PAH-RB on Au nanorods. Since the prepared LbL assembly exhibits both plasmonic and fluorescent properties, we studied the mutual nanorod-dye properties by dissolving Au nanorods.
In this paper, we demonstrate that the organic electrophosphorescent device is driven by the organic thin film transistor with spin-coated photoacryl gate insulator. It was found that electrical output characteristics in our organic thin film transistors using the staggered-inverted top-contact structure showed the non-saturated slope in the saturation region and the sub-threshold nonlinearity in the triode region, where we obtained the maximum power luminance that was about 90 $cd/m^2$. Field effect mobility, threshold voltage, and on-off current ratio in 0.45 ${\mu}m$ thick gate dielectric layer were 0.17 $cm^2/Vs$, -7 V, and $10^6$ , respectively. In order to form polyimide as a gate insulator, vapor deposition polymerization process was also introduced instead of spin-coating process, where polyimide film was co-deposited by high-vacuum thermal evaporation from 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) and cured at 150${\sqsubset}$for 1hr. It was also found that field effect mobility, threshold voltage, on-off current ratio, and sub-threshold slope with 0.45 ${\mu}m$ thick gate dielectric films were 0.134 $cm^2/Vs$, -7 V, and $10^6$ A/A, and 1 V/decade, respectively.

Ferroelectric $Sr_{0.7}/B_{2.3}(Ta_{1-x}Nb_x)_2O_9$(x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) thin films were deposited on $Pt/SiO_2/Si$ substrate by MOD(Metalorganic Decomposition) process. Metal carboxylate and metal alkoxide were used as precursors, and 2-methoxyethanol, xylene as solvents. After spin coating, thin films were pre-annealed at $400^{\circ}C$, followed by RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing) and final annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ in oxygen atmosphere. These procedures were repeated three times to obtain thin films with the thickness of $2000{\AA}$. To enhance the nucleation and growth of layered-perovskite phase, thin films were rapid-thermally annealed above $720^{\circ}C$ in oxygen atmosphere. As RTA temperature increased, fluorite phase was transformed to layered-perovskite phase. And the change of Nb contents affected dielectric / electrical properties and microstructure. The ferroelectric characteristics of $Sr_{0.7}/B_{2.3}(Ta_{1-x}Nb_x)_2O_9$ thin film were Pr=8.67 $\mu{C}/cm^2$, Ec=62.4kV/cm and $I_{L}=1.4\times10^{-7}A/cm^2$ at the applied voltage of 5V, respectively.

An Er-doped sulfide fiber was drawn, and its spectroscopic properties were analyzed. Compositions of a 1000 ppmwt Er3+-doped core and an undoped clad were Ge30-Ga1-Asg-S61 and Ge30-As8-S62, in at.%, respectively. Refractive index of the core composition was approximately 0.01 high than that of the clad. In order to enhance the mechanical stability as well as to prevent infiltration of impurity ions such as OH-, an UV-curable polymer was used for the coating. The optical loss of a fiber formed directly from a polymer coated core rod without cladding was ∼15 dB/m at 1.06$\mu\textrm{m}$. In the case of a fiber with core/clad structure, the optical loss was so high that the stimulated emission of erbium fluorescence was not evident. It is believed that presence of inhomogeneous core/clad interface and crystalline aggregates precipitated in the clad region were responsible for the high optical loss. On the other hand, fluorescence characteristics of Er3+ embedded in the core region were more or loss deteriorate compared to fiber preform, which is attributed to the redistribution of the Er ions along with the partial crystallization of the core glass during the fiberization process.

Sol-gel binder was prepared by hydrolysis and condensation reaction using boehmite sol and methyltrimethoxysilane as a function of aging-time. The coating slurry was composed of a plate-shape alumina in the sol-gel binder for the EPD process, in which particles dispersed in the slurry were deposited on the electrode under an electric field due to the surface charge. We studied the effects of three parameters: the content of boehmite, the aging time, and the applied voltage, on the physical, thermal, and electrical properties of the hybrid composite films by EPD. The amount of boehmite was 10 ~ 20 wt% and the aging time was 0.5 ~ 72, with a fixed amount of plate-shape alumina of 10 wt%. The condition of applied voltage was 5 ~ 30 V with a distance of 2 cm between the electrode during the EPD process. We confirmed that a structure of hybrid composite films of well-ordered plate alumina was deposited on the substrate when the film was prepared using a sol-gel binder composed of 15 wt% boehmite with 1 hr aging time and EPD at 10 V. The process shows a weight loss of 7% at $500^{\circ}C$ in TGA and a breakdown voltage of 8 kV at $87{\mu}m$.

Thermal radiation pastes were prepared by dispersing carbon materials as fillers with a content of 1 weight percent in an acrylic resin. The kind of fillers was as follows; $25{\mu}m$ graphite, $45{\mu}m$ graphite, $15{\mu}m$ carbon nanotube(CNT), a 1:1 mixture of $25{\mu}m$ graphite and $15{\mu}m$ CNT, and a 1:1 mixture of $45{\mu}m$ graphite and $15{\mu}m$ CNT. Thermal emissivity was measured as 0.890 for the samples with graphite only, 0.893 for that with CNT only, and 0.892 for those containing both. After coating prepared pastes on a side of 0.4 mm thick aluminium plate and placing the plate over an opening of a box maintained at $92^{\circ}C$ with the coated side out, the temperatures on the uncoated side of the plates were measured. The samples containing graphite and CNT showed the lowest temperatures. The paste with mixed fillers was coated on the back side of the PCB of an LED module and thermal analysis was carried out using Thermal Transient Tester (T3ster) in a still air box. The thermal resistance of the module with coated PCB was measured as 14.34 K/W whereas that with uncoated PCB was 15.02 K/W. The structure function analysis of T3ster data revealed that the difference between junction and ambient temperatures was $13.8^{\circ}C$ for the coated case and $18.0^{\circ}C$ for the uncoated. From the infrared images of heated LED modules, the hottest-spot temperature of the module with coated PCB was lower than that of the uncoated one for a given period of LED operation.

This paper presents organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) with poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) semiconductor and several polymeric dielectric materials of poly(vinyl phenol)(PVP), poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA), and polyimide(PI) by using soluble process. The fabricated OTFT's have inverted staggered structure using transmission line method(TLM) pattern. In order to evaluate the electrical characteristics of the OTFT, capacitance-voltage(C-V) and current-voltage(I-V) were measured. C-V graphs were measured at several frequencies of 100 Hz, 1 kHz, and 1 MHz and ID-VDS graphs according to $V_{GS}$. The current on/off ratio and threshold voltage with each of PVP, PVA, and PI based OTFTs were measured to $10^3$, and -0.36, -0.41, and -0.62 V. Also, the calculated mobility with each of PVP, PVA, and PI was 0.097, 0.095, and 0.028 $cm^{2}V^{-1}s^{-1}$, respectively. In the cases of PVP and PVA, the hole mobility of P3HT was in excellent agreement with the published value of 0.1 $cm^{2}V^{-1}s^{-1}$.
$TiB_2$-TiN double-layer coating have been prepared by ion beam enhanced deposition. AES, XRD, TEM and HRTEM were employed to characterize the $TiB_2$ layer. The microhardness of the coatings was evaluated by an ultra low-load microhardness indenter system, and the tribological behavior was examined by a ball-on-disc tribology wear tester. It was found that in a single titanium diboride layer, the composition is uniform along the depth of the film, and it is mainly composed of nanocrystalline $TiB_2$ with hexagonal structure, which resulted from the ion bombardment during the film growth. The hardness of the $TiB_2$ films increases with increasing ion energy, and approaches a maximum value of the $TiB_2$ films increases with increasing ion energy, and approaches a maximum value of 39 Gpa at ion energy of 85 keV. The tribological property of the TiB2 films is also improved by higher energy of 85keV. The tribological property of the $TiB_2$ films is also improved by higher energy ion beam bombardment. There is no major disparity in the mechanical properties of double-layer $TiB_2$/TiN coatings and TiN/$TiB_2$ coatings. Both show an improved wear resistance compared with single-layer $TiB_2$ films. The adhesion of double-layer coatings is also superior to that of single-layer films.
We present the rectifying and nitrogen monoxide (NO) gas sensing properties of an oxide semiconductor heterostructure composed of n-type zinc oxide (ZnO) and p-type copper oxide thin layers. A CuO thin layer was first formed on an indium-tin-oxide-coated glass substrate by sol-gel spin coating method using copper acetate monohydrate and diethanolamine as precursors; then, to form a p-n oxide heterostructure, a ZnO thin layer was spin-coated on the CuO layer using copper zinc dihydrate and diethanolamine. The crystalline structures and microstructures of the heterojunction materials were examined using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The observed current-voltage characteristics of the p-n oxide heterostructure showed a non-linear diode-like rectifying behavior at various temperatures ranging from room temperature to $200^{\circ}C$. When the spin-coated ZnO/CuO heterojunction was exposed to the acceptor gas NO in dry air, a significant increase in the forward diode current of the p-n junction was observed. It was found that the NO gas response of the ZnO/CuO heterostructure exhibited a maximum value at an operating temperature as low as $100^{\circ}C$ and increased gradually with increasing of the NO gas concentration up to 30 ppm. The experimental results indicate that the spin-coated ZnO/CuO heterojunction structure has significant potential applications for gas sensors and other oxide electronics.
In order to fabricate adhesiveless 2-layer flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL) used for COF (chip on film) with high peel strength, polyimide (PI; Kapton-EN, $38\;{\mu}m$) surface was modified by reactive $O_2^+$ and $N_2O^+$ ion beam irradiation. 300 mm-long linear electron-Hall drift ion source was used for ion irradiation with ion current density (J) higher than $0.5\;mA/cm^2$ and energy lower than 200 eV. By vacuum web coating process, PI surface was modified by linear ion source and then 10-20 nm thick Ni-Cr and 200 nm thick Cu film were in-situ sputtered as a tie layer and seed layer, respectively. Above this sputtered layer, another $8-9{\mu}m$ thick Cu layer was grown by electroplating and subsequently acid and base resistance and thermal stability were tested for examining the change of peel strength. Peel strength for the FCCLs treated by both $O_2^+$ and $N_2O^+$ ion irradiation showed similar magnitudes and increased as the thickness of tie layer increased. FCCL with Cu (200 nm)/Ni-Cr (20 nm)/PI structure irradiated with $N_2O^+$ at $1{\times}10^{16}/cm^2$ ion fluence was proved to have a strong peel strength of 0.73 kgf/cm for as-received and 0.34 kgf/cm after thermal test.
