제주도 주변해역의 해양환경요인과 멸치 난자치어 분포 (Environmental Factors and the Distribution of Eggs and Larvae of the Anchovy (Engraulis japonica) in the Coastal Waters of Jeju Island)

  • Anchovy spawn from the end of May to mid-October, when the water temperature is $14.8-27.2\;^{\circ}C$ and the salinity is 26.0-33.6 psu. The main spawning season is between July to August, when the water temperature is $21.7-27.2\;^{\circ}C$ and the salinity is between 26.0-32.2 psu. The main spawning grounds of anchovy are coastal areas shallower than 50 m around the islands located in the Jeju Strait. Anchovy larvae are distributed near the fronts between Chuja-do, Jangsu-do, Yeoseo-do, and the open sea rather than in the spawning grounds. Anchovy eggs and larvae density increased in accordance with the high level of $Chlorophyll-{\alpha}$ during the summer season (July-August). In terms of the suspended sediment (SS) levels along the northern coast of the Jeju Strait, high densities of anchovy eggs (12.0-18.0 mg/L) were observed, mainly in the area affected by the coastal waters of the southern sea with high SS levels, while larvae (10.0-19.0 mg/L) tended to be distributed over a wide area with high SS levels, including the open sea. In terms of the dissolved oxygen (DO) content, eggs (5.4-6.8 mg/L) were observed in coastal areas with a high DO content, while larvae (4.2-6.4 mg/L) were distributed widely in areas with a relatively low DO content, from the southern coast to the open sea.

연근해 침적폐기물 정화관리지표 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Exploring Purification Management Indicators of Depositied Waste in Coastal Waters)

  • 본 연구는 해구별 침적폐기물 추정량을 산정하여 해구별 정화관리 우선순위를 분석하기 위한 전제로서 침적폐기물 정화관리지표를 개발하는 것이 연구목적이다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위한 연구방법으로 전문가 델파이 조사기법을 활용하였다. 전문가 델파이 기법은 적절한 예측방법을 찾을 수 없을 때, 전문가들의 직관을 동원하여 미래를 예측하는 방법으로써 미래변화 뿐만 아니라, 합의를 도출하여 문제를 추정하거나 구성원의 의견을 수집 수렴하는 연구방법이다. 본 연구에서는 27명의 전문가를 섭외하여 이들을 대상으로 총 3회기에 걸친 델파이 조사를 실시하였다. 전문가 델파이 조사결과 최종적으로 선택된 연근해 침적폐기물 정화관리지표는 수거 후 재침적율, 폐어구 유실구역, 해구별 총 폐기물량, 과거 침적폐기물 수거량, 단위면적당 폐기물량 등의 5개 지표로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 패널의 수가 27명으로 한정되어 있는 문제점이 존재하는데, 본 연구를 선행연구로 하여 향후 패널 수를 더욱 확대하여 정밀한 조사가 이루어지기를 바란다.

Application of Realtime Monitoring of Oceanic Conditions in the Coastal Water for Environmental Management

  • This study describes the realtime monitoring system for water quality conditions in coastal waters. Some issues on the data qualify control and quality analysis are examined along with examples of erroneous data. Three different cases of database produced by the realtime monitoring system are presented and analyzed, namely 1) hypoxic condition, 2) over-saturated D.O. and 3) short-term variability of temperature and D.O. In utilizing the realtime database, D.O. prediction and warning models are developed based on autoregressive stochastic process. The model is very simple, yet, users in various levels from powerful and useful with its ability to send warning messages to users in varous levels from governmental administrative staff to local fisherman, and give them some allowances to cope with the situation.

  • 1983년 9월부터 1987년 3월까지 韓國沿岸域에서 출현한 浮游性 주조류 중 Thalassiosira 屬의 소형종에 대하여 走査電氣顯微鏡을 이용하여 微細構造를 연구하 였다. 第2부로서 Thalassiosira aestivalis, T.allenii, T.binata, T. Conferta, T. pacifica 및 T. rotula 등 6종을 同定.記載하였으며, 이중 Thalassiosira allenii, T.binata와 T. Conferta는 韓國産 未記錄種으로 보고 한다.

한국 연안 해역에서 분리한 3-chlorobenzoate 분해 세균에 대한 수리학적 분류 (Numerical taxonomy of 3-chlorobenzoate degrading bacteria isolated from Korean coastal waters)

  • The bacteria utilizing 3-chlorobenzoate as a sole carbon and energy source were isolated by Most-Probable-Number technique and identified in Korean coastal waters. Pseudomonas, Moraxella and Flavobacterium were dominant genera and comprised 70.2% of total isolates. Forty-four biochemical, cultural, morphological and physiological testa were performed and average linding cluster analysis was conducted from the test results. Total 92.7% of isolates were clustered into 17 groups under the 80% similarity level. The degradation of 3-chlorobenzoate was performed by many heterogeneous bacteria and the species diversity of these bacterial group offers informations of the stability of bacterial communities in relation to carbon compound cycling in coastal enviromnents.

Distribution of Suspended Particulate Matters in the East China Sea, Southern Yellow Sea and South Sea of Korea During the Winter Season

  • Concentrations of suspended particulate matters (SPM) and their distribution patterns were monitored three times in the East China Sea during the winter season in 1998 and 1999. SPM concentrations showed significant temporal variations controlled by the atmospheric conditions and sea states. In coastal area, SPM values were about 10-20 mg/l in fair weather conditions, but exceeded 100mg/l during the storm periods. Turbid waters were distributed widespread in the continental shelf of the East China Sea and the coastal area of the Korean Peninsula, and these two areas were connected along a NE-SW direction. The distribution patterns of turbid waters were interpreted as representing the transport behavior of suspended matter. Although the primary source of inner shelf mud deposits of Korea seems to be the Korean Peninsula, contribution from the East China Sea to the coastal area of Korea increases especially during the winter season.

한반도 근해의 해류와 해수 특성 -남해연안수 확장과 수온변화- (A Study on Sea Water and Ocean Current in the Sea Adjacent to Korea Peninsula - Expansion of Coastal Waters and Its Effect on Temperature Variations in The South Sea of Korea -)

  • 한국 남해연안 및 서해남부연안은 겨울철 강한 북서 계절풍과 이에 동반된 냉기류 그리고 조석작용에 의해 수직혼합이 용이하며 이 혼합된 연안냉수는 그 형성 위치로부터 외해로 이동되어짐이 인공위성 열적외선 영상으로부터 쉽게 추적된다. 특히 이들 연안수들은 북서계절풍의 영향을 강하게 받아 서해남부연안수는 혹산도 부근에서 형성된 후 추자도 부근까지 남하하고 때때로 제주해협을 통과하여 남해로 유입된다. 남해 연안수는 주기 적인 북풍에 의하여 외해로 확장하는데, 확장형태에 따라 침강확장과 표류확장으로 구분할 수 있다. 침강확장은 남해연안수가 바람에 의하여 외해로 확장하는 동안 해수면에서 계속 냉각이 될 경우 밀도가 높아져 해저면으로 침강하면서 확장하는 경우이고, 냉각이 일어나지 않을 때는 표층에 떠서 외해로 확장된다. 이러한 확장형태에 따라 침강확장시는 그 연직적인 움직임이 난류수와 반시계방향의 혼합이 일어나고, 표류확장시는 시계방향의 혼합이 일어난다. 또한 남해연안수의 확장은 수온전선에도 영향을 미치는데, 침강확장시는 수온전선의 저층에서 급격한 수온변화가 나타나고 표류확장시는 표층에서 강한 변화가 나타난다. 화장형태에 따른 내부수온구조를 보면 침강확장시는 전층이 평균보다 낮게 나타나지만, 표류확장시는 표층에서만 평균보다 낮게 나타난다.

황해연안해성의 물질확산에 관하여 (Diffusion in Coastal Waters of the Yellow Sea)

  • 서해안에 위치한 태안근해에서 대조기 때 유동특성 및 물질확산을 연구하기 위해서 조류, 염료운 및 온배수의 확산에 대한 현장관측, 수리실험 및 수치실험을 실시하였다. 현장관측, 수리 및 수치실험에 의한 유황은 상호간에 대체로 잘 일치하였다. 현장에서 조류는 해안선을 따라 낙조류시에는 남서방향으로, 창조류시에는 북동방향으로 탁월하게 흐르고, 대상영역내 최대유속은 WSW 방향으로 2.13㎧로 관측되었다. 현장에서 유속관측치로부터 구한 Eulerian 확산계수는 7.82$\times$$10^{5}$ $ extrm{cm}^2$/s이다. 수리모형에서 염료운의 면적으로부터 구한 확산계수는 0.18 $r^{(4}$3)/이며, 그 크기는 $10^{5}$ ~$10^{6}$$\textrm{cm}^2$/s로서 현장에서 Eulerian 확산계수와 비슷하게 나타났다. 모형실험에 의한 당 해역의 확산계수는 남해안에 위치한 진해만에서 구한 확산계수보다는 2~3 order, 동해안에 위치한 온산만에서 구한 확산계수보다는 1~2 order 크게 나타났다. 화전(1975)의 2차원 수치모델을 적용한 결과 얻어진 온배수의 확산양상은 수리실험에 의한 염료운의 확산양상과 유사하게 나타났다. 수리실험 및 수치실험 결과에 의하면, 태안해역의 물질확산은 창조류 때보다 낙조류 때 탁월하게 일어났다.다.

동북아 수역의 신 어업질서 성립과 향후 과제 (The Future Tasks for Reorganization of International Fisheries Order between Korea, China and Japan in Northeast Asian Seas)

  • This study aimed to review the reorganization of fisheries and the future tasks in accordance with the establishment of new fishery order in the Northeast Asian Seas. As the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which recognized the sovereign rights of Coastal States in a 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ), entered into force in 1994, the three countries of Korea, China and Japan ratified the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1996 and started negotiations to establish a new fishery order consistent with the EEZ system. However, a conflict of interest occurred because of differences in fisheries between countries, negotiations many times have proceeded, resulting in the signing of fishery agreement between China and Japan in 1997, Korea and Japan in 1998, and Korea and China in 2000. Each fishery arrangement consists of a dual system of EEZ and provisional waters (middle waters, provisional waters). The two countries are engaged in mutual fishing based on coastal states in EEZ, and in the fishing operation under the principle of flag state in provisional waters. There are overlapping or ambiguous jurisdictions in the intermediate waters and provisional waters that are jointly available to both fisheries. The presence of these seas is a challenge to the establishment of a reasonable international fisheries management system for the entire Northeast Asian Seas. In this context, the challenges of the reorganization of the new fisheries order are as follows: 1) conversion to a fishery order for coexistence of fisheries, 2) expansion to an international fishery management system, and 3) establishment of a multilateral fishery cooperation system. Although the jurisdiction of their own waters has been expanded through the establishment of EEZ according to new fishery order, the need for mutual cooperation grows when considering the movement and migration of fishery resources, fishery management, fish consumption and trade. In addition to the fisheries cooperation between the governments, it is also necessary to revitalize the civil cooperation focused on fishermen who exploit fishing grounds together.

Redescription of Pontella Species (Calanoida, Pontellidae) from Korean Waters, with Notes on Their Spatio-temporal Distribution

  • To understand physical structures in the Korean waters, we investigated the spatio-temporal distribution of Pontella species known as indicator species of water mass using a David-Hempel neuston net from April 2002 to March 2003. Five Pontella species (P. chierchiae Giesbrecht, P. fera Dana, P. latifurca Chen and Zhang, P. securifer Brady and P. sinica Chen and Zhang) were found. Their abundance increased from May to October with increasing the surface water temperature. Pontella chierchiae predominantly appeared in the whole areas while P. latifurca scarcely occurred in coastal waters. The other three species (P. fera, P. securifer and P. sinica) were rarely found in the South Sea of Korea on August to September. We suggest that P. securifer and P. fera as oceanic species can play a role in an indicator species of the Tsushima Warm Current while P. sinica as Chinese coastal species is affected by the diluted waters of the Yantze River. We also provide re-description of the three species (P. chierchiae, P. fera and P. latifurca) insufficiently described and discuss their zoogeography.
