반도체 제조용 사일렌 플라즈마 반응기에서의 입자 성장 모델 (Model of Particle Growth in Silane Plasma Reactor for Semiconductor Fabrication)

  • 플라즈마 반응기 내에서 입자 전하 분포가 Gaussian형태로 표현될 때 전하 분포를 가지는 입자들의 충돌에 의한 입자 성장을 discrete-sectional 모델을 사용하여 이론적으로 고찰하였다. 플라즈마 반응기 내에서 입자 성장을 분석하기 위해 monomer크기, monomer생성 속도 등의 공정 변수들을 변화시켰다. 입자 크기가 40 m이상인 큰 입자들은 플라즈마 반응기내에서 대부분이 음으로 존재하였으며 40 m이하인 작은 입자들은 음성, 중성 혹은 양으로 존재하였다 입자 충돌에 의해 입자 크기가 증가함에 따라 입자 표면적의 증가와 더불어 입자가 가지는 평균 음전하수도 증가하였다. 입자 충돌에 의해 큰 입자들이 생성됨에 따라 입자크기분포는 2개의 모드로 양분화 됐다. 본 연구의 이론 결과와 Shiratani 등 [3]의 실험결과가 비교적 잘 맞았으며 본 연구에서 사용한 모델식은 플라즈마 반응기 내에서 수 나노 크기의 입자 성장 연구에도 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Stimulation of an Esterase Activity of Thrombin by Dequalinium and Its Relationship with Blood Coagulation

  • Effects on thrombin by an amphipathic cation, dequalinium, which has been recognized as an anticarcinoma agent were investigated with small chromogenic substrates such as Na-benzoyl-DL-argininep-nitroanilide (BApNA), H-D-phenylalanyl-L-pipecoyl-L-arginine-p-nitroanilide (S-2238), and Na-p-tosyl-L-arginine methyl ester (TAME). Among them, only TAME hydrolysis due to an esterase activity of the enzyme was significantly activated to 81% at 20 ${\mu}M$ dequalinium in the absence of NaCl. This stimulation became even higher in the presence of 0.2 M NaCl to 3.5-fold at 60 ${\mu}M$ dequalinium. This specific activation of thrombin was well correlated with the results of in vitro coagulation tests measuring the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and the prothrombin time (PT) It is pertinent. therefore, to suggest that the esterase activity should be examined in addition to the effects on 5-2238 hydrolysis when especially any regulators not directed to an active site of thrombin need to be studied. We also expect that dequalinium could be a useful tool for studying structure-function relationship of thrombin and blood coagulation.

Evaluation of Hemostatic Function with Thromboelastography in Dogs with Hypercoagulable Diseases

  • Thromboembolic complications are increasing in veterinary medicine. Thromboelastography (TEG) is a more comprehensive method for assessing the clotting process than standard plasma-based coagulation tests. This study compared the ability of TEG and standard coagulation tests to analyze the overall hemostatic state of dogs. The study involved 40 dogs with underlying diseases that predispose to hypercoagulability, including neoplasia, hyperadrenocorticism, immune-mediated diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and protein-losing nephropathies and enteropathies, and 20 healthy dogs. Their overall hemostatic functional state was evaluated by TEG and routine coagulation assays, including activated partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin time, platelet count, and D-dimer concentration. TEG analysis showed significant differences in clot formation time, ${\alpha}$ angle, and maximum amplitude (MA) between diseased and control dogs (P < 0.001 each). Increased MA was the most frequent abnormality on TEG and was indicative of hypercoagulability. TEG was useful in detecting hemostatic dysfunction in dogs with diseases associated with hypercoagulability. Dogs with TEG tracings indicative of hypercoagulability are likely to be in procoagulant states. Future prospective studies are needed to evaluate whether TEG tracings indicative of hypercoagulability are predictive of thrombosis in dogs.

CSOs 처리를 위한 실증규모 응집침전시스템의 설계평가 (Evaluation of Pilot scale Coagulation system Design for CSOs treatment)

  • 도시유역에서 강우시에 발생되는 합류식 하수관거 월류수(CSOs; Combined Sewer Overflows)을 처리하기 위해 물리화학적 처리기법을 적용한 실증규모의 응집침전시스템을 개발하였다. 이에 앞서 응집침전시스템은 lab-test를 통해 도출된 최적의 설계조건이 실증규모로 증설할 시에 설계인자가 제대로 반영되었는지 평가가 필요하며, 최적조건에 따라 설계에 반영하였다 하더라도 대상원수의 유입특성에 따라서도 처리결과에 대한 평가가 다를 수가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 청주하수 처리장에 유입되는 CSOs를 대상으로 각각 $1m^3$/일과 $100m^3$/일의 CSOs를 처리할 수 있는 실험실규모 및 실증규모의 장치를 통해 실험을 수행하였다. 실증규모의 시스템을 운전하여 lab-test에서 도출된 설계인자와의 상사성을 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 높은 처리효율을 유지하기 위한 운전인자를 적용하여 CSOs를 처리함에 있어 그 가능성을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 실험실 규모의 설계조건과 상사성을 만족하는 인라인믹서와 응집반응조의 조건을 도출할 수 있었으며, pilot-test를 운전하기 위한 적정 응집제 주입량을 도출하였고, 결과적으로 실증규모의 시스템에서도 CSOs를 대상으로 높은 효율의 응집침전처리를 가능하게 할 수 있었다.

The Effect of Fat Diet on Inflammatory Markers and Blood Coagulation System in Rats

  • This study was undertaken to know the effect of fat diet (for eight weeks) on changes of inflammatory markers [tumor necrosis factor (TNF-${\alpha}$) and prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$)] and blood coagulation system [platelet aggregation function (PAF), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT)] in rats. Serum TNF-${\alpha}$, $PGE_2$, biochemical markers, PAF, PT, aPTT, and body weight were measured and compared between the control (normal diet-rats) and the fat group (fat diet-rats). The weights in the fat group were higher than those of the control group. TNF-${\alpha}$, $PGE_2$, glucose, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and creatinine levels were greater in the fat group compared with the control group. The degree of platelet aggregation was lower, whereas PT and aPTT levels were longer in the fat group than in the control group. These findings have shown that fat diet may cause inflammatory response, diabetes, liver and renal dysfunction, and disturbances of fibrinolysis and coagulation system.

입자가 부유된 고온의 제트유동에서 응집과 부력을 고려한 이차원 입자크기 분포해석 (A two dimensional analysis of the evolution of the particle size distribution in particle laden high temperature jet flows including the effects of coagulation and buoyancy)

  • A numerical study has been done on the evolution of particle size distribution in particle laden high temperature jet flows undergoing convection, diffusion, thermophoresis and coagulation. The dynamic behavior of these particles have been modelled by approximating the particle size distribution by a lognormal function throughout the process and the moments of the particle size distribution have been used to solve the general dynamic equation. The size distributions of spherical particles in the radial and axial direction have been obtained including the effect of buoyancy. Of particular interests are the variations of geometric mean diameter, number concentration and polydispersity. Results show that buoyancy significantly alters the size distribution in both axial and radial direction. One dimensional analysis for non-spherical particles has also been done and the results have been compared with the existing experimental data.

Treatment of cutting-oily wastewater by electrocoagulation-flotation (ECF) process: Modeling approach

  • This work aims to investigate the oily wastewater treatment by the electrocoagulation-flotation (ECF) and propose a mathematical model for the efficiency prediction. Cutting oil was used to prepare the synthetic oily wastewater with submicron droplet sizes. The chemical coagulation by aluminium sulfate was firstly tested following by the electrocoagulation-flotation with aluminium electrodes. Both processes gave the effective treatment performance with the efficiencies higher than 90%. However, the ECF consumed less aluminium dosage as well as produced less sludge, which were its advantage on the chemical coagulation. The performance of the ECF was found to be affected by the current density, oil concentration, and reaction time according to the analysis by the design of experiment (DOE). Finally, the prediction model was proposed by two approaches, including linear and logarithm function. The latter model gave more accuracy prediction results in terms of treatment efficiency and duration in the lag and stable stages.

  • Black carbon, which is a by-product of combustion of fossil fuel and biomass burning, is the component that imposes the largest uncertainty on quantifying aerosol climate effect. The direct, indirect and semi-direct climate effects of black carbon depend on its state of the mixing with other water-soluble aerosol components. The process that transforms hydrophobic externally mixed black carbon particles into hygroscopic internally mixed ones is called "aging". In most climate models, simple parameterizations for the aging time scale are used instead of solving detailed dynamics equations on the aging process due to the computation cost. In this study, a new parameterization for the black carbon aging time scale due to condensation and coagulation is presented as a function of the concentration of hygroscopic atmospheric components and the black carbon particle size. It is shown that the black carbon aging time scale due to condensation of sulfuric acid vapors varies to a large extent depending on the sulfuric acid concentration and the black carbon particle size. This result indicates that the constant aging time scale values suggested in the literature cannot be directly applied to a global scale modeling. The aging time scale due to coagulation with internally mixed aerosol particles shows an even stronger dependency on particle size, which implies that the use of a particle-size-independent aging time scale may lead to a large error when the aging is dominated by coagulation.

신생아 혈액 응고질환: 출혈 경향을 보이는 신생아에 대한 진단적 접근 (Neonatal Coagulation Disorder: Diagnostic Approaches for Bleeding Neonates)

  • All newborn infants with clinically significant bleeding should be evaluated for a hemostatic deficit. Medical history should include the following data: familial bleeding disorders, maternal illness and medication, age of bleeding onset, and prophylactic administration of vitamin K. The first essential step for evaluating bleeding neonates is determining whether the baby is sick or well. The physician should also evaluate the extent of the bleeding, features of bleeding lesions, and other abnormal findings from the physical examination. Skeletal anomalies may provide diagnostic clues. Depending on the clinical features and results of screening tests, other tests including coagulation factors may be useful for determining the diagnosis. All laboratory results must be considered in the context of age-related reference values. The platelet function analyzer provides a promising alternative to bleeding time. Fibrin degradation products and D-dimers are used for screening and specially testing fibrinolytic activity, respectively. The Apt test may help to rule out factors derived from maternal blood. Radiologic imaging studies are important because asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhages are common in neonates.

  • SK-1080 is one of the newly developed orally active nonpeptide angiotensinII $AT_1-receptor$ antagonist that selectively acts at $AT_1$ receptor with high affinity. The cardiac effect on ischemia/reperfusion injury of SK-1080 was compared with those of losartan, a prototype of this class, in isolated rat hearts. Isolated perfused rat heart was pretreated with drug for 10 min and then subjected to global ischemia for 30 min followed by reperfusion with- or without drug for 30 min. The possible additive effect of SK-1080 on the platelet aggregation and coagulation in human blood was also studied. We investigated whether SK-1080 effects the platelet aggregation induced by ADP, a platelet agonist partially dependent on $thromboxaneA_2$. The clotting times in the prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) were also examined in human plasma in vitro as coagulation screening test. SK-1080 improved reperfusion function (LVDP, left ventricular developed pressure; PRP, rate-pressure product) in a dose-dependent manner. SK-1080 reduced ADP-induced platelet aggregation compared with vehicle but less than losartan, and did not affect clotting times.
