  • One of the most important reasons for using online game is intrinsic motivation which relates the drive to perform a behavior for perceptions of pleasure and satisfaction from the behavior itself. Therefore, most studies for using online game have been based on theories for intrinsic motivation such as flow. However, such theories have some limitations for explaining social aspects of online games such as Massively Multiplayer Online Role Game (MMORPG), which provides a society for game players by using a virtual space for playing games so called 'persistent world'. Adaptive structuration theory (AST) is one of trying to capture the change of using IT due to social interactions between users and system. In order to explain online game players' behavior considering social interaction, we suggest a research model based on AST. Our model aims to investigate the relationship between appropriation which is determined by faithfulness of appropriation (FOA) and consensus on appropriation (COA) and performance which is represented by the relationship among perceived winning, flow, and intention of reuse. An empirical test of our model for 125 MMORPG users which is analyzed by Partial Least Square method shows very satisfactory and interesting results. While hypotheses suggested in our model are supported, the influence of COA on game performance is shown to be stronger than that of FOA.

  • Using COD-R curves, instability of crack growth in ductile material is studied here. Tearing modulus $T_{\delta}$, based on the COA concept is defined and the instability criterion $T_{{\delta}{\app}}$> $T_{{\delta}{\mat}}$ is compared with experiments. Variations of the COD-R curve and the location of rotation center are experimentally investigated as the initial crack ratio varies. Three-point bend specimens of alloy steel SCM4 are used here and two clip-on gauges are installed in order to obtain the COD-R curve. The results show that the tearing modulus $T_{\delta}$ is a good measure to characterize the instability of crack growth. Also it is found that the location of rotation center is almost constant regardless of the initial crack ratio and the amount of the crack growth.

  • Special Protection Scheme(SPS) for generator tripping action is an emergency control tool that secures the power system stability by instantly tripping the pre-determined number of generators to avoid the acceleration of the remaining generators in a large-scaled power plants when a fault occurs on the drawing transmission lines. However, since the existing operating conditions of SPS are set based on a peak demand, SPS could trip more generators than required if it is activated during the off-peak demand period. For this, this paper proposes the algorithm for setting the operating conditions of SPS through the online stability evaluation with the periodically updated operating conditions of power systems. The proposed algorithm adopts COA for the accuracy and speed of the stability evaluation, and can reduce the number of tripping generators by SPS during the off-peak demand period. This results in reducing the loss of profit caused by a fault on power systems.

  • Objectives: Underpinned by the context of a Korean traditional medicine cohort study on healthy aging, this research primarily aims to guide the selection of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) for elderly healthy aging patient registry research, offering insights into the selection process; and secondly, to streamline the resource-intensive process of obtaining permissions for validated COAs, benefiting future traditional Korean medicine clinical researchers. Methods : In this study, we identified outcomes through a review of previous studies, followed by a process involving expert consultations to select the final outcomes. Subsequently, for the selected outcomes that were Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) developed tools, we searched in commercial databases to confirm the availability of Korean versions and the necessity of obtaining permissions. Finally, we obtained permissions for their utilization and, when needed, acquired the original instrument questionnaire through payment. Results: Through a literature review of existing observational studies, a total of 57 outcomes were selected, with 19 of them identified as COA instruments. Upon verifying usage permissions for these 19 instruments, it was found that 17 required author-specific permissions, and among these, 2 needed a purchase as they were commercially available. Conclusion: This study provides a detailed overview of outcome selection and permission acquisition for elderly patient registry research. It underscores the importance of Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA) tools and the rigorous approval process, aiming to enhance research reliability. Continuous verification of COA information is essential, and future research should explore Core Outcome Set (COS) development through consensus-building approaches like Delphi studies.

  • The control strategy for damping analysis of STATCON is derived based on an energy function of the power system equation. The center-of-angle(COA) coordinated system by a simple equivalent physical system is used and the control law for this system is induced for FACTS devices as TCSC and STATCON. Damping results from the transient performance simulations carried out on the model system.

  • Many naturally occurring polyhydroxylated sterols and oxysterols exhibit potent biologic activities. The role of oxycholesterol including 2, 5(R)-2, 6-hydroxycholesterol is a potent inhibitor of cholesterol biosynthesis in vitro as it is an effective inhibitor of HMG-Coa reductase. Some new polyhydroxylated sterols were showed potent cytotoxicity to cancer cells. And it has also been chown to be an inhibitor of DNA synthesis, In order to synthesize the various oxy derivatives, we tried to positionselective and reagentselective epoxidation and reduction of cholesterol derivatives. • An experiment was carried out to determine the effect of age and caponization on the development blood and bone characteristics development in male country chickens in Taiwan. A total of two hundred 8-wk-old LRI native chicken cockerels, Taishi meat No.13 from LRI-COA, were used as experimental animals. Cockerels were surgically caponized at 8 wks of age. Twelve birds in each group were bled and dressed from 8 wks to 35 wks of age at 1 to 5 wk intervals. The results indicated that the plasma testosterone concentration was significantly (p<0.05) lower in capons after 12 wks of age (caponized treatment after 4 wks) than that of the intact males. The relative tibia weight, bone breaking strength, cortical thickness, bone ash, bone calcium, bone phosphorus and bone magnesium contents were significantly (p<0.05) higher in intact males, while capons had higher (p<0.05) plasma ionized calcium, inorganic phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase concentration. The plasma testosterone concentration, relative tibia weight, tibia length, breaking strength, cortical thickness, bone ash, calcium, and phosphorus contents of intact males chickens increased significantly (p<0.05) with the advance of age. In addition, the relative tibia weight of capons peaked at 18 wks of age, and declined at 35 wks of age. The bone ash, calcium and phosphorus content increased most after 14 wks of age in male native chickens in Taiwan. Also, tibia length and cortical thickness peaked at 22 wks of age. However, the peak of bone strength was found at 26 wks of age. These findings support the assertion that androgens can directly influence bone composition fluxes in male chickens. Caponization caused a significant increase in bone loss at 4 wks post treatment, which reflected bone cell damage, and demonstrated reductions in the relative tibia weight, breaking strength, cortical thickness, bone ash, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium contents, and increases in plasma ionized calcium, inorganic phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase concentration.

  • The effects of the simultaneous variations of the ratio of feed gases(H2/N2 Flow ratio), feed gas flow rate (H2/N2, total-flow rate) and partial pressures of TiCl4 (PTiCl41) as well as deposition time and cobalt content of the substrate on the deposition rate of the TiN Coated Cemented Tungsten Carbide Tools were investigated. Deposition was carried out in the temperature range of 930$^{\circ}C$-1080$^{\circ}C$ and an activation energy of 46.5 Kcal/mole can be calculated. Transverse rupture strength was noticeably reduced by the TiN coating on the virgin surfa-ce of Cemented Tungsten Carbide, the extent of which was decreased according to the coa-ting thickness. Microhardness value observed on the work was in the range of 1700∼2000kg/mm, which were in well agreement with the value of bult TiN. The wear resistance of TiN layers was performed by turning test and it was observed that crater and flank resistance remarkably enhanced by TiN coating.

  • Development of an aneurysm in the thoracic aorta, intercostal arteries, or cerebral vessels is not an uncommon occurrence in patients with coarctation of the aorta. The mechanism whereby coarctation predisposes to aneurysm formation is incompletely understood and we suggest that in this case, an intrinsic factor in the wall of the aorta underlies the formation of aneurysms. Recently we experienced one case of COA associated with the thoracic aortic aneurysm and operation was done successfully. PDA was simply ligated and the aorta was cross-clamped proximally and distally and the area of constriction or aneurysmal site were excised. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged 2 weeks after operation. Hypertension at upper extremities was controlled without any antihypertensive drugs after operation and the degree of regurgitation of mitral valve was improved postoperatively but long-term follow-up should be necessary.
