By utilizing singular value decomposition (SVD) and shift averaged Harr wavelet transform (WT) with a set of Daubechies wavelet coefficients (1/2, -1/2), a method that can simultaneously eliminate an unwanted large solvent peak and noise peaks from NMR data has been developed. Noise elimination was accomplished by shift-averaging the time domain NMR data after a large solvent peak was suppressed by SVD. The algorithms took advantage of the WT, giving excellent results for the noise elimination in the Gaussian type NMR spectral lines of NMR data pretreated with SVD, providing superb results in the adjustment of phase and magnitude of the spectrum. SVD and shift averaged Haar wavelet methods were quantitatively evaluated in terms of threshold values and signal to noise (S/N) ratio values.
The previous etching, rinsing and drying processes of wafers for MEMS (microelectromechanical system) using SC-$CO_2$ (supercritical-$CO_2$) consists of two steps. Firstly, MEMS-wafers are etched by organic solvent in a separate etching equipment from the high pressure dryer and then moved to the high pressure dryer to rinse and dry them using SC-$CO_2$. We found that the previous two step process could be applied to etch and dry wafers for MEMS but could not confirm the reproducibility through several experiments. We thought the cause of that was the stiction of structures occurring due to vaporization of the etching solvent during moving MEMS wafer to high pressure dryer after etching it outside. In order to improve the structure stiction problem, we designed a continuous process for etching, rinsing and drying MEMS-wafers using SC-$CO_2$ without moving them. And we also wanted to know relations of states of carbon dioxide (gas, liquid, supercritical fluid) to the structure stiction problem. In the case of using gas carbon dioxide (3 MPa, $25^{\circ}C$) as an etching solvent, we could obtain well-treated MEMS-wafers without stiction and confirm the reproducibility of experimental results. The quantity of rinsing solvent used could be also reduced compared with the previous technology. In the case of using liquid carbon dioxide (3 MPa, $5^{\circ}C$, we could not obtain well-treated MEMS-wafers without stiction due to the phase separation of between liquid carbon dioxide and etching co-solvent(acetone). In the case of using SC-$CO_2$ (7.5 Mpa, $40^{\circ}C$), we had as good results as those of the case using gas-$CO_2$. Besides the processing time was shortened compared with that of the case of using gas-$CO_2$.
In this study, we synthesis polyimide with high gas selectivity using 2,2-bis(3,4-carboxylphenyl) hexafluoropropane, 2,4,6-Trimethyl-1,3-phenylenediamine (DAM) and 4,4-Methylenedianiline (p-MDA), and then the asymmetric membrane was fabricated by non-solvent phase separation method. To confirm the property change of the membrane using different solvent, we measured and compared the viscosity of the polymer solution, cloud point and non-solvent phase separation coefficient. The morphology and gas separation property of membrane prepared by phase separation method was confirmed using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microsope and the single gas permeation measurement apparatus. The single gas ($CH_4$, $N_2$, $O_2$, $CO_2$) permeation property and selectivity value of the membrane prepared with NMP was higher than the membrane prepared with DMAc. We confirmed that the gas selectivity of the membrane increased and the permeation property decreased with increasing of the solvent evaporation time.
Various asymmetric Polysulfone membranes were prepared for a MBR process. Ether-typed alcohols (co-solvent) were added into a dope solution in order to control the pore size of membrane, whose effect on water permeability were investigated. Pore size of the prepared membranes were more affected by molecular-structure of co-solvent than by boiling point of theirs. With the increasing order of methoxy ($CH_3$-O-) < secondary propanol ($-CH_2$-CH(OH)$-CH_3$) < ethoxy ($CH_3-CH_2$-O-), water permeability of the prepared membrane increased. The phenomenon might attribute to the difference of molecularly steric hinderance of co-solvent (eg, Methoxy propanol, Ethoxy ethanol, Methoxy ethanol) in dope solution during the phase inversion. By the addition of ether typed alcohol into a dope solution, the pore size of MF (microfiltration) could be controlled. Also, Membrane prepared was applied to a MBR process and the system was stably operated for 2 months.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to simplify and standardize analytical method of polar solvents(methanol, isopropanol, n-butanol, acetone, methylene chloride and MIBK) in the working environmental by GC. Because NIOSH methods are various and complicated. Methods: The method is using the same stationary phase(5% phenyl 95% dimethylpolysiloxane), absorbent(silica gel) and desorption solvent(DMSO) for above 6 solvents. For the 6 solvents desorption efficiency, calibration curve, and limit of detection were studied Results: As the results, 6 solvents{2 groups ; first group(methanol/isopropanol/butanol) and second group(acetone/methylene chloride/MIBK)} could be separated and quantified within 10 minutes. Desorption efficiency from silica gell of 6 solvents using dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO) was methanol 86.2%, isopropanol 103.2%, n-butanol 101.8%, acetone 98.2%, methylene chloride 103.9% and MIBK 106.2% in the range of 0.2, 0.5, 2.0 times of TWA, consequently, satisfied NIOSH estimation level(beyond 75%). Correlation coefficient(r)in the range of 0.2~2.0 times of TWA, was above 0.999 for 6 solvent. LOD(mg/DMSO ml) using calibration curve in the range of 0.2~2 times of TWA was methanol 0.11, isopropyl alcohol 0.20, n-butanol 0.03, acetone 0.50, methylene chloride 0.05, MIBK 0.04 respectably. Conclusions: This method can be used at the sampling and analytical method for polar solvents by GC. Also, will be able to be applied with NIOSH methods.
When carbon electrode is used as an anode in Li ion battery, passivation film forms on the electrode surface during the initial charge process due to so called Solid-Electrolyte Interphase (SEI). The passivation film formed by solvent decomposition during the initial charge process affects charge/discharge capacity. In this paper, 1 M $LiPF_6,EC:DEC$ (1 : 1, volume ratio) electrolyte with $Li_2CO_3$, at various temperatures, the electrochemical characteristics of passivation film formed on Kawasaki Mesophase Fine Carbon electrode surface were investigated by using chronopotentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, and impedance spectroscopy. Experimental observations indicated that as solvent decomposition occurred, the decomposition voltage was strongly dependent on ionic conductivity, which was low in the process at low temperature. The impedance of passivation film formed during the initial charge process, were dependent on the temperature.
In this study, computer simulation works have been performed for the capture process of the $CO_2$ and $H_{2}S$ gases contained in the effluent stream using methanol aqueous solution. In order to increase the solubilities of the $CO_2$ and $H_{2}S$ in the methanol aqueous stream, the operating pressure of the absorber was raised to 30 bar and the feeding temperature of the solvent was lowered to $-20^{\circ}C$ by using refrigeration cycle. NRTL liquid activity coefficient model was used to estimate the liquid phase nonidealities for methanol and water. Soave-Redlich-Kwong equation of state was used for the vapor phase nonidealities. Henry's law option was also used to calculate the solubilities of the supercritical noncondensible gases into the methanol aqueous solvent stream.

The catalytic performance of Co-Mn-Br system was performed in the 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene(DMN) oxidation at relatively mild reaction conditions such as $160^{\circ}C$ and $6kg/cm^2$. Experiments were conducted using a $2{\ell}$ batch reactor with varying the concentrations of catalysts. The reaction route of DMN oxidation was considered by measuring the concentration of intermediate species. As the intermediate species, 2-formyl-6-naphthoic acid, 2-methyl-6-naphthoic acid and 2-hydroxymethyl-6-methylnaphthalene are found. It was found that the yield of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid(NDA) is largely dependent on the Co and Br concentrations. In addition, it was observed that color-b was closely related with Mn concentration in this experimental range. The burning loss of solvent could be reduced by controlling the concentration of Mn and Br. Addition of small amount of Ce and Cu compounds led to increase the NDA yields and decrease the burning amount of solvent.

In T-mixer crystallization, supersaturation is generated by mixing of another solvent or non-solvent in order to reduce the solubility of the compound. Also, T-mixer is a type of continuous crystallization. In order to induce micro-mixing, two solutions were mixed rapidly by T-mixer, which formed high supersaturation. As the results, mean size of HMX crystals decreased with increasing de-supersaturation rate $(R_s)$. Eventually, HMX particles ranging from 0.5 to $5{\mu}m$ can be obtained by T-mixer crystallization. Mixing efficiency in T-mixer increased with increasing $R_s$ values. In T-mixer crystallization without surfactants, homogeneous nucleation was formed when S and $R_s$ was over 54 and $1.6{\times}10^3/sec$. In T-mixer crystallization with surfactants, homogeneous nucleation was formed when S and $R_s$ was over 26 and 7.4/sec.
In present work, oxidative addition reaction of 1,3-cycleohexandion (1,3-CHD) with ethyl vinyl ether (EVE) was attempted utilizing $Ag_2CO_3$/celite (SC) reagent. In order to optimize reaction conditions, we surveyed several solvents for the production of dihydrofuran with the (SC) system. The yield of the acetonitrile (AN), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), benzene (BZ), and heptane (HT) are given 78, 40, 15, and 10%, respectively. Therefore, we studied the solvent effects on yields by using PM3 and ZINDO/1 parameter of semi-empirical method of HyperChem7.0 molecular modeling program.
