  • Recently, a drone is used for the general purpose application although the drone was builtfor the military purpose. A drone is actively used for the creation of contents, and an image acquisition. In this paper, we develop a 3D library module platform using 3D mesh model data, which is generated by a drone image and its point cloud. First, a lot of 2D image data are taken by a drone, and a point cloud data is generated from 2D drone images. A 3D mesh data is acquired from point cloud data. Then, we develop a service library platform using a transformed 3D data for multi-purpose uses. Our platform with 3D data can minimize the cost and time of contents creation for special effects during the production of a movie, drama, or documentary. Our platform can contribute the creation of experts for the digital contents production in the field of a realistic media, a special image, and exhibitions.

  • We present a fast reduction method of survey data obtained using a single-dish radio telescope. Along with a brief review of classical method, a new method of identification and elimination of negative and positive bad channels are introduced using cloud identification code and several IRAF (Image Reduction and Analysis Facility) tasks relating statistics. Removing of several ripple patterns using Fourier Transform is also discussed. It is found that BACKGROUND task within IRAF is very efficient for fitting and subtraction of base-line with varying functions. Cloud identification method along with the possibility of its application for analysis of cloud structure is described, and future data reduction method is discussed.

  • In this study, we review the ground-based whole-sky camera (WSC), which is developed to continuously capture day and night cloud images using the illumination data from a precision Lightmeter with a high temporal resolution. The WSC is combined with a precision Lightmeter developed in IYA (International Year of Astronomy) for analysis of an artificial light pollution at night and a DSLR camera equipped with a fish-eye lens widely applied in observational astronomy. The WSC is designed to adjust the shutter speed and ISO of the equipped camera according to illumination data in order to stably capture cloud images. And Raspberry Pi is applied to control automatically the related process of taking cloud and sky images every minute under various conditions depending on illumination data from Lightmeter for 24 hours. In addition, it is utilized to post-process and store the cloud images and to upload the data to web page in real time. Finally, we check the technical possibility of the method to observe the cloud distribution (cover, type, height) quantitatively and objectively by the optical system, through analysis of the captured cloud images from the developed device.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) models have become crucial for improving civil infrastructure analysis, and they can be used for various purposes such as damage detection, risk estimation, resolving potential safety issues, alarm detection, and structural health monitoring. 3D point cloud data is used not only to make visual models but also to analyze the states of structures and to monitor them using semantic data. This study proposes automating the generation of high-quality 3D point cloud data and removing noise using deep learning algorithms. In this study, large-format aerial images of civilian infrastructure, such as cut slopes and dams, which were captured by drones, were used to develop a workflow for automatically generating a 3D point cloud model. Through image cropping, downscaling/upscaling, semantic segmentation, generation of segmentation masks, and implementation of region extraction algorithms, the generation of the point cloud was automated. Compared with the method wherein the point cloud model is generated from raw images, our method could effectively improve the quality of the model, remove noise, and reduce the processing time. The results showed that the size of the 3D point cloud model created using the proposed method was significantly reduced; the number of points was reduced by 20-50%, and distant points were recognized as noise. This method can be applied to the automatic generation of high-quality 3D point cloud models of civil infrastructures using aerial imagery.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine women's street fashion based on Instagram by word cloud analysis. This study is divided into items, silhouettes, colors, materials, patterns, and images that appear in women's street fashion. The results of this study are as follows: First, women's fashion-oriented Instagram accounts have a maximum of 8.6 million followers, with 16 blogs have more than one million users. As for the fashion-oriented Instagram visitors, many were their 10s-20s and photography was the key issue. Second, it was found that the casual image, which is the basis of street fashion, romantic, elegance, active sportive image, and sexy images appeared as unique images, and mixed with each other. Third, we compared the fashion characteristics of the top blogs 'fashionnova', 'fashionclimaxx2', and 'fashion.selection'. The blog 'fashionnova', utilizes sexy images and various dresses, and dresses were the characteristic points. The blog 'fashionclimaxx2' features casual images and modern office looks. The blog 'fashoin.selection' has fashion characteristics of both 'fashionnova' and 'fashionclimaxx2'.

  • The importance of geospatial information is increasingly highlighted in the defense domain. Accurate and up-to-date geospatial data is essential for situational awareness, target analysis, and mission planning in millitary operations. The use of high-resolution geospatial data in military operations requires large storage and fast image processing capabilities. Efficient image processing is required for tasks such as extracting useful information from satellite images and creating 3D terrain for mission planning, In this paper, we designed a cloud-based operational situation mixed reality visualization system that utilizes large-scale geospatial information distributed processed on a cloud server based on the container orchestration platform Kubernetes. We implemented a prototype and confirmed the suitability of the design.

  • Landsat satellite images have been increasingly used for disaster damage analysis and disaster monitoring because they can be used for periodic and broad observation of disaster damage area. However, periodic disaster monitoring has limitation because of areas having missing data due to clouds as a characteristic of optical satellite images. Therefore, a study needs to be conducted for restoration of missing areas. This study detected and removed clouds and cloud shadows by using the quality assessment (QA) band provided when acquiring Landsat-8 images, and performed image restoration of removed areas through a spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion (STARFM) algorithm. The restored image by the proposed method is compared with the restored image by conventional image restoration method throught MLC method. As a results, the restoration method by STARFM showed an overall accuracy of 89.40%, and it is confirmed that the restoration method is more efficient than the conventional image restoration method. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to increase the utilization of disaster analysis using Landsat satellite images.
