The purpose of this study was 1) to find out Market segmentation possibilities according to consumer's store selection factors by analysis of Consumer's attitude and oriteria of apparel store selection, 2) to provide marketing strategies of segment marker for apparel stores Research problems were as follows. 1) To find out the important factors of consumer's store selection and to segment markets according to their factors. 2) To find out consumer characteristics (demographic variables, clothing life factors, cloth-ing purchase behaviors) according to segment markets. 3) To find out preference store types and preference factors according to segment markets. 4) To provide marketing mix strategy for retail apparel store sales. The subjects selected for the final analysis were 586 female college students, housewives, and workers living in Seoul. A questionnaire was developed in order to measure consumer's selection criteria of apparel store, consumer characteristics and preferred store types and preferential factors. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were 8 factors of consumer's store selection such that: the high quality, convenience, store atmosphere, economy, dependency commercials, store patronage, the conformity, product assortment. the result of cluster analysis based on these 8 factors of store selection verified that market was able to be segmented as four different market, which were the store loyalty group, the aligned economical group, the assortment pursuing group, the store fame dependent group. 2. There were significant differences among four groups, for 4 variables related to consumer's characteristics such as demographic characteristics (sex, age, job, level of education, the living quarters, marrige or unmarrige), clothing life factors, clothing evaluating criteria, and favorite fashion information sources. 3. There were significant differences among four groups for 2 variable related to store preference such as preference types of store and preference factors of store.
This study investigates the disposal of clothing and the purchasing behavior and usage of environmentally friendly clothing. After compiling data from 500 consumers who reside in Seoul, it was analyzed by ANOVA, t-test, Chi-square, and multiple regression analysis. The behavioral score for buying environmentally friendly clothing was lower than the average value of the three. The lowest value was for the purchase of used clothing, but the purchase of environmentally friendly clothing was also shown to have a low value. For the usage and disposal of clothing, unused clothing, which was mostly just left in dresser drawers, was the most preferable method. Also, exchange or resale via anInternet mall was shown to be lower than the other methods. The analysis between clothing purchase and usage as well as the disposal of clothing with socio-demographics, consumption tendencies, opinions of friends and groups, commercials and advertisements, and environmental perceptions points out differences among groups. There are statistically significant differences in the purchasing intentions of slow fashion according to socio-demographics. Female consumers between $20{\sim}25$ years of age were more likely to purchase slow fashion clothing. Consumers with a high consumption tendency who were highly influenced by commercials, friends, and groups were more likely to purchase slow fashion clothing. The influence of the average clothing expenditure on an environmentally friendly purchasing behavior and the influence of the age group on repairing and usagewas the most effective. All in all, contribution to an environmentally friendly perception was the most effective variable.

The purpose of this study was to identity the relationship of clothing involvement, consumer characteristics, and clothing buying behavior of college female students in China. A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing involvement, materialism, conspicuous consumption, reference group influence, clothing purchasing modes, fashion information sources. The questionnaire was administered to 390 college female students in Dandong of china. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, and t-test. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Subjects were divided into low clothing involved and high clothing involved groups according to the level of clothing involvement. 2. Three dimensions of materialism were derived by factor analysis such as Happiness-pursuing, Life-centered, and Sucess-symbolic. And three dimensions of conspicuous consumption and reference group influence were derived by factor analysis such as luxury oriented, Status symbolic, Brand-name oriented, and Comparative, Informational, Normative exactly. Clothing purchasing motives and fashion information sources were factor analysed as Social and Individual mole, and Printed & Electric-wave media, Marketer managed, Personal exactly. 3. There were significant differences between high involved and low involved consumers in consumer characteristics and clothing purchasing behavior. The high involved consumers showed more importance than low involved consumers about materialism especially in Happiness-pursuing about conspicuous consumption in status symbolic and about influence of reference group in comparative. The high involved consumers put more importance than low involved consumer individual motive as clothing purchasing motive, and marketer managed in clothing fashion information. The high invoked consumers showed more importance than low invoked consumers about evaluating attributes of product, and about store patronage criterion.
Among many different approaches of study of history of Kokuryo clothing culture, this study attempted to understand the costume by including political , militarial , economical , cultural , and religious aspects of Kokuryo society. It also included pictures in mural tumbs and old studies in Kokuryo costume. Clothing culture related to political life clearly differenciated social status by restricting styles and colors of clothes according to peoples social status. Generally people in high social status wore clothes with detailed decorations invariety of colors, and also used more fabrics than people in low social status. Costume was also affected by military life style that needed to meet the vigorous physical activities. High rank worriors wore iron scaled shielded clothes with red decoration on it which identified different ranks of the worriors. Economy also contributed it role to affect the clothing styles in Kokuryo. Based on old studies of costume, this study focused on people's life styles that included hunting and weaving . Hunting clothes were differentiated by decorating wit feathers . Jowoguan(조우관) is one of the examples. Since weaving was a major economic power or factor, silk and flax were very popular. People even used those fabrics to pay tax. Regarding cultural aspect , this study emphasized on song and dance wear along with active wear. Song and dance wear specially decorated with poka dots, however men and women wear were claryly distinguished. Unlike other clothes that were restricted in colors and styles, song and dance wear were decorated in variety of colors. Lastly this study presents religious aspects of Kokuryo costume . Monks wore black clothing (내의) that was influenced from China and the Western Regions(서역). To emphasize their religious power, Gods in the pictures of mural tumbs wore clothes with wings and feathers. God of fire and agriculture wore simple dresses without much decorations which represented simple life style of working class.

Cotton, P/C and polyester fabrics were laundered and treated with 4 kinds of aftertreating agent(antistatic and softening agents) on marketing. Some treating condition:. which include agent concenteration, treating time and rinsing extent after laundering, were varied. And then the effects of agents with each treating condition-handle value, charged voltage and half-life, and crease recovery etc.-were determined and discussed about their change. The improvement of handle and antistatic properties by treatment were indicated remarkably for cotton fabric and P/C and polyester fabrics respectively. Generally, the handle value of cotton was decreased and then increased again, and the charged voltage and half-life of P/C and polyester fabrics were decreased with increase of concenteration of agents. The effect of antistatic improvement for P/C fabric was larger than polyester fabric at even lower concenteration of agents. The effects were increased with treating time and rinsing extent. In particular, those of short time(1 minute) treatment were very small.

This study investigates the factors of LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability), to segment consumer groups by LOHAS and identify the differences of LOHAS groups in the purchase of LOHAS fashion products. A total of 398 people aged from 20s to 50s were surveyed in September, 2009. The data were analyzed with factorial analysis, ANOVA, LSD, Chi-square, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, using the SPSS 12.0. The survey showed: 1) Seven LOHAS factors (environment preservation, family centered, pursuit of rural life, preference of environmentally friendly products, interest in health, pursuit of leisurely life, and soul & body balance), 2) LOHAS consumers were classified into five segments (health interest, well-being, LOHAS, unconcerned, and naturalist). The distribution of age level, education level, and the type of job were different among LOHAS groups; and 3) Experiences of purchasing LOHAS AS fashion products in the past and intention to purchase LOHAS fashion products in the future were different among LOHAS groups.

Brands have their own life cycles and exert a great influence on the marketing activities of companies. This study examines the marketing activities according to a brand life cycle and measures the scope of their performances. The research divides a fashion brand life cycle into three stages through the analysis of secondary data, and validates the causal relationship between marketing activities, brand equity, and consumer behavior according to the brand life cycle. A total of 573 responses were analyzed through a factor analysis, path analysis, and paired t-test with SPSS 12.0. The results are as follows: According to the analysis of the relationship between marketing mix and brand equity, distribution strategies are effective at the introduction/growth stage and the continuation stage. Advertisement strategies should be a main focus at the maturity stage for brand awareness. Throughout all the stages, product strategies wield the greatest influence on the brand image. Among brand equity components, the brand image has an influence on consumer behavior at every stage of the cycle while the brand awareness has no significant effect on consumer behavior. The marketing mix component that has the greatest impact on consumer behavior is product. Contrary to general expectations, price has a negative or insignificant effect on consumer behavior at every stage of the cycle. The results illustrated in this study help to understand the life cycle of fashion brands and characteristics different from consumer goods. Thus, fashion companies should identify at which stage their brands are positioned and develop different strategies to fit each stage.

In this study, the teaching-learning materials and the plan using persimmon juice dyeing, which is one of the traditional natural dyeing methods of Korea, were developed for the purpose of inspiring further awareness of our traditional clothing life-culture. A questionnaire was designed to make a survey on the educational effect, and t-test and Kruscal-Wallis test were conducted to test the significant differences between pre- and post-lessons. A correlation analysis between culture awareness and its education awareness was also done. These prototypes were applied to high school Technology Home Economics classes under the theme, 'Making living goods with persimmon juice dyed fabrics'. Examining the changes in students' awareness of traditional images, and changes in their interest and attitude towards learning in those classes led to the following results. First, as a result of applying LT cooperative learning in order for an understanding of the formation of clothing life-culture and the process of persimmon juice dyeing, many original handicrafts with modern sense were created. Second, a comparative analysis between pre- and post-lessons on the change in students' degree of awareness of traditional clothing life-culture and its education showed that students' awareness had risen after the class; the data was collected from three separate sample groups which had been clustered according to their initial degree of awareness, i.e. high, middle, and low, and the group that scored the lowest before the class showed the greatest improvement. Third, feedback surveys on 'Making living goods with persimmon juice dyed fabrics' classes returned with scores greater than 'moderate', thus revealing that the students' concern and interest towards traditional clothing life-culture hae been enhanced through the class experience. Their attitude had also become more positive. Fourth, since learners with more awareness of the traditional clothing life-culture also showed more awareness of the need for an education designed to promote the culture, a positive correlation between the two had been found. As explained above, the teaching-learning materials and the plan that had been developed for this study has caused a deeper understanding of the value and significance of the traditional natural dyeing and clothing life-culture, and has therefore brought about an educational effect that powers idea creation.

This study investigated the effects of perceived ageism on appearance related quality of life through appearance satisfaction among older Korean women. Testing the proposed model showed associations among variables and the mediating effects of appearance satisfaction in the relationship between perceived ageism and appearance related psychological and social quality of life. Structural equation modeling analyses upheld the proposed model for 221 women aged 60 and over. The results revealed that older women's perception of ageism negatively influenced appearance satisfaction that subsequently affected perceived levels of both psychological and social quality of life in a negative direction. The direct effects of perceived ageism on both psychological and social quality of life were not found; however, the indirect effects of perceived ageism on these two variables through appearance satisfaction were found significant and negative. This indicated a fully mediating effect of appearance satisfaction in the relationships. The results of this study highlight that perceptions of ageism and its association with body image should be considered to understand the overall quality of life among older women.
The purpose of this study was to compare clothing attitudes and the criteria for clothing selection between Korean and Korean-Chinese college female students in the Yanbian region of China. The subjects were selected as follows: 404 Korean female college students in the Choongchung area and 242 Korean-Chinese female college students in the Yanbian region of China. Questionnaires were used to collect the data and the data was analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, and t-test. The major results of this study were as follows: The clothing attitudes of the total respondents were classified into 5 factors: the fashion involving factor, the modesty involving factor, the economy conscious factor, the brand-name oriented factor, and the practical user factor. The modesty involving factor, the economy conscious factor, the brand-name oriented factor, and the practical user factor were significantly different between Korean and Korean-Chinese college female students. Korean consumers thought highly of the economy conscious factor and the practical user factor compared with Korean-Chinese college female students. However, Korean-Chinese college female students thought highly of the brand-name oriented factor and the modesty factor compared with Korean consumers.
