The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical thermal resistances and comfort properties of ski wear made with vapor-permeable water repellent (VPWR) fabrics and thermal insulation battings. Four types of experimental clothing were made with the combination of two VPWR fabrics (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}$, Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}$) and two thermal insulation battings ($Viwarm^{\circledR},\;Airseal^{\circledR}$). Thermal resistances of ski wear were objectly evaluated by thermal manikin experiment ($21{\pm}\;2^{\circ}C,\;50{\pm}5\%$ R.H.,0.25 m/sec air velocity) and thermographic accessment ($2{\pm}2^{\circ}C,\;0\%$ R.H.,0.25 m/sec air velocity, and emissivity level : 1). Garment wear tests of ski wear included the measurement of the microclimate (inner temp. and relative humidity) of the experimental clothing by digital thermohygrometer and subject wear sensation using McNall's thermal comfort ratings. CBo values of experimental clothing 4 (Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}+Airseal^{\circledR}$) and 1 (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}+Viwarm^{\circledR}$) were significantly higher than those of 2 (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}+Airseal^{\circledR}$) and 3 (Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}+Viwarm^{\circledR}$). Thermal resistances in the points of breast, back, belly, and loin was significantly higher than those of upper am, fore arm, and shank of measuring points on the thermal manikin. According to the color map of the thermogram, the experimental clothing 4 indicated higher surface temperatures than the others showing more yellowish spots on the surface of clothing. Inner temperature of experimental clothing was not significantly different among the four types of ski wear, but relative humidities of experimental clothing were significantly different. Relative humidities of experimental clothing 1 and 3 showed higher than those of 2 and 4. Relative humidity of experimantal clothing was affected largely by the thermal resis- tance of thermal insulation batting materials. The subject wear sensation of experimental clothing 2 and 4 showed lower humidity than the others. Subject wear sensation was affected more by humidity sensation than by thermal sensation.

This research evaluates the changes in the comfort-related properties of high-density fabric, such as moisture permeability and waterproofness, in order to assess the relative importance of laundry conditions for clothing properties after repeated laundering and suggest the best laundering conditions for high-density fabric through the identification of the most influential factor. A commercial high-density fabric was washed 25 times in a drum-type washer using nine different laundry conditions based on profiles derived from a fractional factorial design. To evaluate the changes in the comfort-related properties of the fabric, pore size, air permeability, water vapor transport, water repellency, and water resistance were measured. The comfort-related properties of the fabric deteriorated after repeated laundering by the damaged surface finish; in addition, the damaged surface also changed the pore size. As a result, the water repellency and water resistance decreased. The detergent was the most responsible factor to change the properties among the four factors of detergent, hardness, temperature, and RPM. The best laundering conditions for the fabric was a neutral detergent, soft water of 70ppm, a temperature of $15^{\circ}C$, and 30rpm.

This study analyzes the efficiency of a solar cell attached to an air circulation jacket. A commercially available silicon solar panel was selected and attached at four spots where the body angle was $40-60^{\circ}$ and voltage ($V_{oc}$, V), current ($I_{sc}$, A), and output power (P, W) were measured to determine the efficiency. The solar panel was applied to the outer jacket that operates with two fans to increase the convection that lowers the body temperature. The heavy work of standing, walking, and sweeping of a street sweeper was simulated in the field test. The microclimate within the jacket (with or without a fan) was measured and the subjective thermal, humidity, and comfort sensations were surveyed. SPSS 12.0 statistical package was used for a t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results show that the highest efficiency of the solar cell was at the incident angle of $60^{\circ}$ in terms of voltage, current and output power distribution. The microclimate temperature of the air circulation jacket decreased significantly with the high power of the fan and subjects felt cooler than the jacket with a fan at the incident angle of $60^{\circ}$. Air circulation jackets operated by a silicon solar panel showed a significant cooling effect on the wearers.
The proposes of this study were to exam the effects of internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance on adolescents' body image and clothing behaviors, and to analyze these effects by adolescents' sex and age variables. The research method was survey and the subjects were 447 male and female adolescents in Daejeon, Korea. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measuring instruments; internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance, body image, clothing behaviors, and demographic attributions. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, variance analysis, Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results are as follows. First, most of adolescents showed positive attitude on sociocultural values toward appearance, and female and high school students revealed higher level of internalization than male and middle school students. Second, as a result of factor analysis, 3 factors emerged in body image(appearance interest, appearance evaluation, and weight concern) and 4 factors emerged in clothing behaviors(clothing interest & psychological dependency, clothing ostentation, clothing conformity, and clothing comfort). Third, internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance had important effects on adolescents' body image and clothing behaviors; the adolescents who had high level internalization showed more interest on their appearance and weight and higher clothing interest & psychological dependency and clothing ostentation and lower clothing comfort than other adolescents who had middle or low level internalization. Forth, internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance showed many different effects on body image and clothing behaviors by adolescents' sex and age variables.
This study examined the wearing conditions of working clothes of shipbuilding industry workers according to the working environmental factors and working process features. It was also investigated the relationship between the wearing sense of working clothes and the overall comfort according to work processes. In the working process of shipbuilding industry, the process of fitting, welding, grinding and painting were chosen by considering work environmental factors, disaster types, hazardous materials, work process features, working clothes and safety equipments of each work categorized. The workers of fitting process usually wore the standard working clothes, while more than 60% of the workers of welding, grinding and painting wore the specialized protective clothes. The hazardous work environmental factors such as noise, heavy dust, high temperature and noxious fumes affected to the workers of fitting, welding and grinding. However, the workers of painting were greatly damaged by organic solvent. The dissatisfaction with the wearing performance of working clothes was highly shown in the sweat absorbency, moisture permeability and body protection. In respect of the correlation between the overall comfort and the wearing sense of working clothes, the satisfaction was decreased in orders of movement comfort> sensual comfort> physiological comfort.

The present study newly developed a firefighters' protective jacket and pants using a Nomex honeycomb structured layer (HPC) in cases of being exposed to flashover or flameover. This study evaluated the protective and comfort functions of an HPC compared to the current KFI firefighters' protective clothing (FPC). The results are as follows. First, thermal protective performance (TPP) of fabric layers was 2.75 times greater for HPC than FPC at $125kW/m^2$. Second, the predicted second and third degree burn areas were smaller for HPC than FPC when using a flame manikin. Third, thermal insulation using a thermal manikin was 0.2 clo greater for HPC than FPC. Fourth, there were no marked differences in maximal performance, mobility, and microclimate temperature/humidity between FPC and HPC through human wear trials. The thermal insulation of HPC was higher than that of FPC; however, any negative effect of HPC thermal insulation on the comfort functions for firefighters was not found. In conclusion, the newly-developed HPC provided more protection in reducing burn injuries from $125kW/m^2$, while no negative impact on maximal performance, mobility and thermal comfort functions of firefighters, which is appropriate for quick-evasive tactics at the flashover, flameover or back draft fires.
This study analyzed differences in the purchase satisfaction and repurchase intention of customers who buy clothing products from online platforms. The participants were teenage individuals to those in their 50s residing in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do. The data were examined via factor analysis, a t-test, Analysis of variance(ANOVA), Duncan's multiple range test, two-way ANOVA, and linear regression analysis. The factors for satisfaction with clothing products from online platforms were wearing comfort and quality, design, and price and purchase convenience. The findings revealed that purchase satisfaction based on these factors significantly varied among the participants depending on marital status, age, and occupation. Satisfaction with wearing comfort, quality, and design differed by gender. Satisfaction with wearing comfort, quality, and price and purchase convenience varied by type of purchase and type of online platforms. The interaction effects among the variables that affected purchase satisfaction were as follows. The interaction effects among the variables for wearing comfort and quality showed significant interactions between gender and type of purchase and between occupation and type of online platforms. Those for design showed significant interactions between marital status and age, between age and occupation, and so on. The interaction effects for price and purchase convenience showed significant interactions between marital status and gender and between age and occupation. The results on repurchase intention showed significant differences in such intention by marital status, age, and occupation. Repurchase intention was influenced by wearing comfort and quality, price and purchase convenience, design, and age.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of fashion innovativeness and national identity on Korean clothing benefits sought, style preferences, and purchase intention. The subjects were 765 male and female consumers who were residents in Seoul. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and chi-square test. The results were as follows. There were five Korean clothing benefits sought: impression improvement/fashion orientation, national pride, individuality, brand, and comfort. Korean style preferences had four factors of daring/showy, active/simple, elegant, and sophisticated images. The subjects were categorized into three groups by fashion innovativeness and national indentity. The three groups were different in regard to Korean clothing benefits sought, Korean style preferences, and purchase intention. For example, the consumers who had a high fashion innovativeness sought benefits of impression improvement, individuality, and brand name. Also, they preferred daring/showy, elegant, and sophisticated images. In the meanwhile the consumers who had a high national identity sought benefits of national pride, comfort, and impression improvement. Also, they preferred an active/simple style and had an intention to purchase the clothing with Korean image.
To develop the work clothes for the employees in the mechatronics industry in South Korea, a questionnaire survey on many aspects of the work clothes such as type, color, detailed design and function preference of the subject employees has been carried out in the study. The results throughout the survey highlighted certain functions such as extensibility, thermal and air permeability of importance for the work clothing performance. To improve the discomfort caused by some work motions (i.e. squatting down, ascending/descending the stairs, raising arms), more allowances were given to the measurements (i.e. body rise + 2cm and crotch depth + 1cm for squatting down pose; thigh circumference + 1cm and knee circumference + 1cm for ascending/ descending the stairs pose; chest circumference + 5~6cm and jumper length to the level of hip circumference line for raising arms pose) for work clothes patternmaking. The evaluation of the two types of spring/summer and winter work clothes' clothing comfort and wearer mobility suggested certain points to improve the clothing performance (e.g. ventilation slits on the back pleats, arm pits and collar band of the spring/summer suit using net material and lining for the winter suit using quilted thermal materials) and wearer mobility (e.g. pants hem buckles for the easy work motion), which also enabled to fulfill the workers' work clothes design preference.

Transient thermal response of five types of underwear(cotton jersey, wool jersey, nylon jersey, cotton mesh and polyester mesh) for a protective coverall is evaluated using a sweating thermal manikin. Experimental protocol for transient thermal response of the sweating thermal manikin was also proposed. As results, it was found that steady state thermal response from sweating thermal manikin was not sensitive enough to evaluate thermal comfort of the experimental garments. However, when half time is used as an index of the heat flux change in transient thermal response, difference was found among underwear materials. Half time of cotton was the shortest and heat transfer of cotton was the fastest followed by polyester mesh, cotton jersey, nylon jersey and wool jersey. Dynamic thermal response of wool underwear was quite different from that of cotton underwear. Wool shows quite less heat flow at the initial stage, however, moisture permeability of wool was higher than cotton at the later stage. It was difficult to distinguish surface temperature difference visually using thermogram taken right before the completion of dry and wet test in steady state thermal response.
