In recent decades, it has been known that the Discrete Event System Specification, or DEVS, formalism provides sound semantics to design a modular and hierarchical model of a discrete event system. In spite of this benefit, practitioners have difficulties in applying the semantics to real-world systems modeling because DEVS needs to specify a large size of sets of events and/or states in an unstructured form. To resolve the difficulties, this paper proposes an extension of the DEVS formalism, called the Structured DEVS formalism, with an associated graphical representation, called the DEVS diagram, by means of structural representation of such sets based on closure property of set theory. The proposed formalism is proved to be equivalent to the original DEVS formalism in their model specification, yet the new formalism specifies sets in a structured form with a concept of phases, variables and ports. A simplified example of the structured DEVS with the DEVS diagram shows the effectiveness of the proposed formalism which can be easily implemented in an objected-oriented simulation environment.

Protective clothing developed for rose flower farmers has been evaluated to improve the working conditions. The requirements of rose farmers were first identified to design protective clothing for farmers working with thorny plants. A fit test was conducted to assess the thermal comfort and protective function against thorn pricking to compare and evaluate the usability of developed experimental clothing with existing working clothes. Based on the survey results of rose farmers' requirements, protective clothing was designed in the form of an apron (which was the most preferred after gloves) with a pattern designed for the production of experimental clothing. For the developed protective clothing, the strap and buckle closure method was selected to open the back of the body as much as possible; in addition, sleeves were made in the attachable form of a half-sleeve to protect the arms from the thorns. The fit test of the developed protective clothing and existing working clothes revealed the temperature and humidity inside the developed protective clothing to be significantly different in the back compared to existing work clothes. In addition to thermal sensations, the subjective humidity sensations were statistically significant different in the developed protective clothing compared to existing work clothes. The subjective protective function for thorn pricking was also found to be satisfactory.

Background and Objectives : The most important two factors of the voice production are the respiratory function which is the power source of voice and the glottic closure that transform the air flow into sound signals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between trained singers and untrained controls under varying intensity at a constant vocal pitch by simulataneous using the airway interruption method and electroglottography(EGG). Materials and Methods : Under two different intensity condition at a constant vocal pitch(/G/), 20(Male 10, Female 10) trained singers were studied. Mean flow rate(MFR), subglottic pressure(Psub) and intensity were measured with aerodynamic test using the Phonatory function analyzer. Closed quotients(CQ), jitter and shimmer were also investigated by electroglottography using Lx speech studio. These data were compared with that of normal controls. Results : MFR and Psub were increased on high intensity condition in all subject groups but there was no statistically significance. Statistically significant increasing of CQ. were observed in male trained singers on high intensity condition (untrained male : 51.31${\pm}$3.70%, trained male :55.52${\pm}$6.07%, p=.039). Shimmer percent, one of the phonatory stability parameters, was also decreased statistically in all subject groups(p<.001). Conclusion : The trained singers' phonation was more efficient than untrained singers. The result means that the trained singers can increase the loudness with little changing of mean flow rate, subglottic pressure but more increasing of glottic closed quotients.

Adsorption of polymeric flocculants and dry strength agents onto the surface of papermaking fibers is critical for their effective utilization since the polymeric substances not adsorbed on fibers or fines keep recirculating in the papermaking system to cause various operational difficulties and loss of raw materials. Problems associated with the unadsorbed polymeric substances generate great attention because unprecedent interests in utilization of recycled papers and papermaking system closure. In this study, to understand the effects of recycling on the adsorption propensity of cationic polyacryamide (PAM) dry strength resin onto hardwood bleached kraft pulp fibers and fines a systematic approach was followed. Never dried bleached hardwood kraft pulp was recycled in two different ways. In mode one recycling experiment never dried pulp was beaten then recycled three times by employing simple drying and disintegrating steps. In mode two recycling experiment beating of the recycled pulp was carried out after each recycling step. Adsorption of cationic PAM on fibers and fines was evaluated employing Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis method. The influence of recycling on water retention value, carboxyl content, sheet density and tensile strength of the pulp was examined. As the number of recycling increased, water retention value of the fiber was reduced due to hornification and this in turn caused a decrease in adsorption of cationic PAM. On the other hand, the carboxyl content of the recycled fibers increased because of the oxidation of fibers occurred during drying, and this caused an increase in adsorption of cationic PAM. Because of these two opposing factors the adsorption of the cationic PAM on the recycled fibers decreased and then increased slightly at third recycling step. Increase of PAM adsorption, however, did not provide did not provide and strength improvement for the recycled pulp fibers indicating greater influence of the honification on interfiber bonding.

This paper provides quantification of the effects of the turbulence model and grid refinement on the analysis of tip vortex flows by using the RANS(Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) method. Numerical simulations of the tip vortex flows of the NACA $66_2$-415 elliptic hydrofoil were conducted, and two turbulence models for RANS closure were tested, i.e., the Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ model and the Reynolds stress transport model. Numerical results were compared with available experimental data, and it was shown that the data for the Reynolds stress transport model that were computed on the finest grid system had better agreement in reproducing the development and propagation of the tip vortex. The Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ model overestimated the turbulence level in the vortex core and showed a diffusive behavior of the tip vortex. The tip vortex cavitation on the hydrofoil and its trajectory also showed good agreement between the current numerical results that were obtained using the Reynolds stress transport model and the results observed in the experiment.
The purpose of this study is firstly to survey the social and cultural background of 20th century and women's status, and to identify what the ideal body is like and what the elements of outer garment and underwear are and the techniques to incarnate the ideal beauty. Various papers are referenced for theoretical study and the elements and techniques of underwear are analyzed based on photographical materials. This paper concludes as follows. In 1910's, ideal beauty has changed to H-style. In other words, the outer garment has confined the lower part of the body with plain H-type Hobble silhouette to express plump bust, somewhat slim waist, and small hips, As the underwears, cylindrical corsets which fasten from under the bust down to lap, brassiere which are helpful for plump bust, and artificial busts were worn. In 1920's, outer garment were Straight box silhouette style which were cut as tubular without dart, and the underwears were corselets which have been tubular from the bust to hip and the tubular chemi-knickers. The former corsets which had been hard-boned and been fastened with strings have been replaced by the hook closure due to the development of elastic joining method. In 1930's, women pursued perfect body showing the line of bust, waist, and hip. In order to express elegant beauty of female of Slim and long silhouette, Doter and underwear have been cut with bias and gore, and soft and flexible materials were flowed along the body. World war II in 1940's has made the women as social. Ideal beauty has changed to Short straight box silhouette which no more shows body line. Outer and underwears were simple and Practical style. In 1950's, ideal beauty was well-matured, elegant Women which were represented by round shoulder, conical breast, tiny waist and round hip. Outer garment showed Hourglass silhouette representing the body-tight suits with round shoulder pad and the wide flare skirts. As the underwears, conical brassiere by top circular stitch were preferred for plump and bulged bust and tight corsets for tiny waist and magnificent petticoats were worn.
Maxillofacial war injures is specific representative of severe hard and soft tissue defect. This type of injuries were different from the trauma because it may be fatal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the injury type base on the retrograde medical record in the 104 patients from Feb. 1991 to Aug. 1992 in Korea Veterans Hospital. The obtained results were as follows. 1. Among 104 cases, 51 cases(49.0%) were classified as mandibular defects only, and 53 cases (51.0%) were classified as maxillary with mandibular defect (combined). 2. The etiologic factors of injury were gunshot, artillery and grenade or shell: 33 cases, 14cases, and 10 cases respectively in Korea War, 19 cases, 5 cases, and 8 cases respectively in Vietnam War. 3. In 57 cases of mandibular partial defect, the angle area showed the highest frequencies, 18 cases(31.6%). 4. In 42 cases of mandibular segmental defect, the area between the 1st molar and the ascending ramus showed the highest frequencies. 17 cases(40.4%), and almost all cases were unilateral defect (40 cases, 95.0%) 5. Reconstruction method performed for segmental mandibular defect were wire or plate(15 cases, 35.7%) and soft tissue closure only(12 cases, 28.7%), respectively.

A curvilinear non-hydrostatic free surface model is developed to investigate nonlinear wave interactions in a circular channel. The proposed model solves the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations in a three-dimensional domain with a pressure correction method, which is one of fractional step methods. A hybrid staggered-grid layout in the vertical direction is implemented, which renders relatively simple resulting pressure equation as well as free surface closure. Numerical accuracy with respect to wave nonlinearity is tested against the fifth-order Stokes solution in a two-dimensional numerical wave tank. Numerical applications center on the evolution of nonlinear waves including diffraction and reflection affected by the curvature of side wall in a circular channel comparing with linear waves. Except for a highly nonlinear bichrmatic wave, the model's results are in good agreement with superimposed analytical solution that neglects nonlinear effects. Through the numerical simulation of the highly nonlinear bichramatic wave, the model shows its capability to investigate the evolution of nonlinear wave groups in a circular channel.

The particle dispersion in the turbulent mixing layer has been numerically investigated to clarify the effect of the velocity ratio in the large-scale vortical structures. In this study the LES with subgrid-scale model is employed. The Lagrangian method to predict the particle motion is applied. The particles of 10, 50, 150, 200${\mu}m$ in mean diameter were loaded into the origin of the mixing layer. It is shown that the characteristics of flow and growth rate are strongly dependent on the variation of the velocity ratio. It is also shown the relationship between the Stokes number and the particle dispersion. As a result, in the case of St~1 the particle dispersion is faster than the diffustion of the flow field while in the cases of both St<<1 and St>>1 it is shown that the particle dispersion in lower than the diffusion of the flow filed.
Purpose: The liposuction has been generalized & undergone in the field of plastic surgery and it has had a great influence on fat graft. But despite of liposuction and fat injection being performed widely, we did not focus on complication associated with donor site. So we reported satisfactory result with the intraoperative sustained limited expansion & direct closure to donor site tissue necrosis after liposuction and analyzed the cause & measures of donor site necrosis with the literature investigation Methods: From November 2007 to June 2008, we treated four cases of tissue necrosis and infection surrounding the thigh and forearm. Necrosis after liposuction was 1 case, donor site necrosis after fat injection were 3 cases and MRSA was detected in 2 cases. first, we debrided the necrotic tissue and treated with potadine gauze soaking dressing & susceptible antibiotics. After confirmation of healthy granulation tissue, we used intraoperative sustained limited expansion and closed directly of defect & observed the results. Results: The patient was displeased and worried with the unexpected damage concerning the donor site and the procedure concerning time and financial exhaustion, but after confirming no contracture of the scar tissues and only a thin or slightly widened line of scar, showed satisfaction. Conclusion: Because it is fastidious to avoid donor site complication after liposuction & fat injection, enough explanation and understanding on possible complication to donor site are necessary and careful surgery procedure & materials are required. But if donor site necrosis were occurred although close consideration of possible causes of necrosis, we should think about not only wound healing process but also the sequela like scar contracture & cosmetic effect and treat the most adequate method to satisfying both concerns.
