  • To build up a knowledge-based system in an Artifical Inerligence System, selecting an appropriate set of rules is one of the key provlems. In this paper, we discuss a new method for exteacting fuzzy rules diredtly from fuzzy membdrchip function dat for pattern classifcation. The fuzzy rules with variable fuzzy recions are defined by sharing fuzzy space in fuzzy grid.Tehse rules are extracted form memberchop function. Them, optimal input vari-ables for the rules are determined using the number of extracted rules as a criterion. The method is compared with neural networks using Ishibuchi. Finally, in order to demonstrate the cffectiveness of the present method, simulation results are shown.

  • Microarray classification typically possesses two striking attributes: (1) classifier design and error estimation are based on remarkably small samples and (2) cross-validation error estimation is employed in the majority of the papers. A Microarray data of ovarian cancer consists of the expressions of thens of thousands of genes, and there is no systematic procedure to analyze this information instantaneously. In this paper, gene markers are selected by ranking genes according to statistics, popular classification rules - linear discriminant analysis, k-nearest-neighbor and decision trees - has been performed comparing classification accuracy of data selecting gene markers and not selecting gene markers. The Result that apply linear classification analysis at Microarray data set including marker gene that are selected using ANOVA method represent the highest classification accuracy of 97.78% and the lowest prediction error estimate.

  • Fuzzy neural network is an integrated model of artificial neural network and fuzzy system and it has been successfully applied in control and forecasting area. Recently ANFIS(Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System) has been noticed widely among various fuzzy neural network models because of outstanding performance of control and forecasting accuracy. ANFIS has capability to refine its fuzzy rules interactively with human expert. In particular, when we use initial rule structure for machine learning which is generated from human expert, it is highly probable to reach global optimum solution as well as shorten time to convergence. We propose metrics to evaluate interpretability of generated rules as a means of acquiring domain knowledge and compare level of interpretability of ANFIS fuzzy rules to those of C5.0 classification rules. The proposed metrics also can be used to evaluate capability of rule generation for the various machine learning methods.

  • One of the popular methods used for pattern classification is the MBR (Memory-Based Reasoning) algorithm. Since it simply computes distances between a test pattern and training patterns or hyperplanes stored in memory, and then assigns the class of the nearest training pattern, it cannot explain how the classification result is obtained. In order to overcome this problem, we propose an incremental teaming algorithm based on RPA (Recursive Partition Averaging) to extract IF-THEN rules that describe regularities inherent in training patterns. But rules generated by RPA eventually show an overfitting phenomenon, because they depend too strongly on the details of given training patterns. Also RPA produces more number of rules than necessary, due to over-partitioning of the pattern space. Consequently, we present the IREA (Incremental Rule Extraction Algorithm) that overcomes overfitting problem by removing useless conditions from rules and reduces the number of rules at the same time. We verify the performance of proposed algorithm using benchmark data sets from UCI Machine Learning Repository.

  • In this paper, we investigate the use of fuzzy rules for efficient intrusion detection. We use evolutionary algorithm to optimize the set of fuzzy rules for intrusion detection by constructing fuzzy decision trees. For efficient execution of evolutionary algorithm we use supervised clustering to generate an initial set of membership functions for fuzzy rules. In our method both performance and complexity of fuzzy rules (or fuzzy decision trees) are taken into account in fitness evaluation. We also use evaluation with data partition, membership degree caching and zero-pruning to reduce time for construction and evaluation of fuzzy decision trees. For performance evaluation, we experimented with our method over the intrusion detection data of KDD'99 Cup, and confirmed that our method outperformed the existing methods. Compared with the KDD'99 Cup winner, the accuracy was increased by 1.54% while the cost was reduced by 20.8%.

  • This article aims to (1) come up with a new way of the classification by analysing 2,475 of the documents in the Archives of the National Debt Redemption Movement(NDRM) recently registered as the Memory of the World; (2) make a proposal of their rules for archival description with reference to ISAD(G) 2ND EDITION, ISSAR, and NAK. This leads to the suggestion of necessity to make archivistically the rules for archival description of archives in the Memory of the World and manage them on the rules, in view of the recent trend of increasing the number of the records registered as the Memory of the World and adding the records even after their registration. The archives of NDRM is an artificial collection. It can be said that the classification of manuscript collection on the basis of the preparation subject according to Schellenberg's principle of the provenance is the most systematic. On the foundation of it, the suggestions of various classifications by activities, times, sorts of records, medias, topics, etc. would permit to search and interpret the archives in the Memory of the World with more efficiency.

  • The objective of this investigation was to develop rules for automatic categorization of concrete quality using selected artificial intelligence methods based on machine learning. The range of tested materials included concrete containing a new waste material - solid residue from coal combustion in fluidized bed boilers (CFBC fly ash) used as additive. The rapid chloride permeability test - Nordtest Method BUILD 492 method was used for determining chloride ions penetration in concrete. Performed experimental tests on obtained chloride migration provided data for learning and testing of rules discovered by machine learning techniques. It has been found that machine learning is a tool which can be applied to determine concrete durability. The rules generated by computer programs AQ21 and WEKA using J48 algorithm provided means for adequate categorization of plain concrete and concrete modified with CFBC fly ash as materials of good and acceptable resistance to chloride penetration.

  • The job classification system of major job sites differs from site to site and is different from the job classification system of the 'SQF(Sectoral Qualifications Framework)' proposed by the SW field. Therefore, a new job classification system is needed for SW companies, SW job seekers, and job sites to understand. The purpose of this study is to establish a standard job classification system that reflects market demand by analyzing SQF based on job offer information of major job sites and the NCS(National Competency Standards). For this purpose, the association analysis between occupations of major job sites is conducted and the association rule between SQF and occupation is conducted to derive the association rule between occupations. Using this association rule, we proposed an intelligent job classification system based on data mapping the job classification system of major job sites and SQF and job classification system. First, major job sites are selected to obtain information on the job classification system of the SW market. Then We identify ways to collect job information from each site and collect data through open API. Focusing on the relationship between the data, filtering only the job information posted on each job site at the same time, other job information is deleted. Next, we will map the job classification system between job sites using the association rules derived from the association analysis. We will complete the mapping between these market segments, discuss with the experts, further map the SQF, and finally propose a new job classification system. As a result, more than 30,000 job listings were collected in XML format using open API in 'WORKNET,' 'JOBKOREA,' and 'saramin', which are the main job sites in Korea. After filtering out about 900 job postings simultaneously posted on multiple job sites, 800 association rules were derived by applying the Apriori algorithm, which is a frequent pattern mining. Based on 800 related rules, the job classification system of WORKNET, JOBKOREA, and saramin and the SQF job classification system were mapped and classified into 1st and 4th stages. In the new job taxonomy, the first primary class, IT consulting, computer system, network, and security related job system, consisted of three secondary classifications, five tertiary classifications, and five fourth classifications. The second primary classification, the database and the job system related to system operation, consisted of three secondary classifications, three tertiary classifications, and four fourth classifications. The third primary category, Web Planning, Web Programming, Web Design, and Game, was composed of four secondary classifications, nine tertiary classifications, and two fourth classifications. The last primary classification, job systems related to ICT management, computer and communication engineering technology, consisted of three secondary classifications and six tertiary classifications. In particular, the new job classification system has a relatively flexible stage of classification, unlike other existing classification systems. WORKNET divides jobs into third categories, JOBKOREA divides jobs into second categories, and the subdivided jobs into keywords. saramin divided the job into the second classification, and the subdivided the job into keyword form. The newly proposed standard job classification system accepts some keyword-based jobs, and treats some product names as jobs. In the classification system, not only are jobs suspended in the second classification, but there are also jobs that are subdivided into the fourth classification. This reflected the idea that not all jobs could be broken down into the same steps. We also proposed a combination of rules and experts' opinions from market data collected and conducted associative analysis. Therefore, the newly proposed job classification system can be regarded as a data-based intelligent job classification system that reflects the market demand, unlike the existing job classification system. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a new job classification system that reflects market demand by attempting mapping between occupations based on data through the association analysis between occupations rather than intuition of some experts. However, this study has a limitation in that it cannot fully reflect the market demand that changes over time because the data collection point is temporary. As market demands change over time, including seasonal factors and major corporate public recruitment timings, continuous data monitoring and repeated experiments are needed to achieve more accurate matching. The results of this study can be used to suggest the direction of improvement of SQF in the SW industry in the future, and it is expected to be transferred to other industries with the experience of success in the SW industry.

  • A new GA-based methodology using information granules is suggested for the construction of fuzzy classifiers. The proposed scheme consists of three steps: selection of information granules, construction of the associated fuzzy sets, and tuning of the fuzzy rules. First, the genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to the development of the adequate information granules. The fuzzy sets are then constructed from the analysis of the developed information granules. An interpretable fuzzy classifier is designed by using the constructed fuzzy sets. Finally, the GA is utilized for tuning of the fuzzy rules, which can enhance the classification performance on the misclassified data (e.g., data with the strange pattern or on the boundaries of the classes). To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, an example, the classification of the Iris data, is provided.
