  • Relation extraction is an important information extraction technique that can be widely used in areas such as question-answering and knowledge population. Previous studies on relation extraction have been based on supervised machine learning models that need a large amount of training data manually annotated with relation categories. Recently, to reduce the manual annotation efforts for constructing training data, distant supervision methods have been proposed. However, these methods suffer from a drawback: it is difficult to use these methods for collecting negative training data that are necessary for resolving classification problems. To overcome this drawback, we propose a one-class classification model that can be trained without using negative data. The proposed model determines whether an input data item is included in an inner category by using a similarity measure based on lexical information and syntactic patterns in a vector space. In the experiments conducted in this study, the proposed model showed higher performance (an F1-score of 0.6509 and an accuracy of 0.6833) than a representative one-class classification model, one-class SVM(Support Vector Machine).

  • Logistic discrimination is an useful statistical technique for quantitative analysis of financial service industry. Especially it is not only easy to be implemented, but also has good classification rate. Generalized additive model is useful for credit scoring since it has the same advantages of logistic discrimination as well as accounting ability for the nonlinear effects of the explanatory variables. It may, however, need too many additive terms in the model when the number of explanatory variables is very large and there may exist dependencies among the variables. Mixtures of factor analyzers can be used for dimension reduction of high-dimensional feature. This study proposes to use the low-dimensional factor scores of mixtures of factor analyzers as the new features in the generalized additive model. Its application is demonstrated in the classification of some real credit scoring data. The comparison of correct classification rates of competing techniques shows the superiority of the generalized additive model using factor scores.

  • This research examines deep learning based image recognition models for beef sirloin classification. The sirloin of beef can be classified as the upper sirloin, the lower sirloin, and the ribeye, whereas during the distribution process they are often simply unified into the sirloin region. In this work, for detailed classification of beef sirloin regions we develop a model that can learn image information in a reasonable computation time using the MobileNet algorithm. In addition, to increase the accuracy of the model we introduce data augmentation methods as well, which amplifies the image data collected during the distribution process. This data augmentation enables to consider a larger size of training data set by which the accuracy of the model can be significantly improved. The data generated during the data proliferation process was tested using the MobileNet algorithm, where the test data set was obtained from the distribution processes in the real-world practice. Through the computational experiences we confirm that the accuracy of the suggested model is up to 83%. We expect that the classification model of this study can contribute to providing a more accurate and detailed information exchange between suppliers and consumers during the distribution process of beef sirloin.

  • Research that implements the classification process through Deep Learning algorithm, one of the outstanding human abilities, includes a unimodal model, a multi-modal model, and a multi-modal method using music videos. In this study, the results were better by suggesting a system to analyze each song's spectrum into short samples and vote for the results. Among Deep Learning algorithms, CNN showed superior performance in the category of music genre compared to RNN, and improved performance when CNN and RNN were applied together. The system of voting for each CNN result by Deep Learning a short sample of music showed better results than the previous model and the model with Softmax layer added to the model performed best. The need for the explosive growth of digital media and the automatic classification of music genres in numerous streaming services is increasing. Future research will need to reduce the proportion of undifferentiated songs and develop algorithms for the last category classification of undivided songs.

  • Scene graphs serve as semantic abstractions of images and play a crucial role in enhancing visual comprehension and reasoning. However, the performance of Scene Graph Generation is often compromised when working with biased data in real-world situations. While many existing systems focus on a single stage of learning for both feature extraction and classification, some employ Class-Balancing strategies, such as Re-weighting, Data Resampling, and Transfer Learning from head to tail. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that decouples the feature extraction and classification phases of the scene graph generation process. For feature extraction, we leverage a transformer-based architecture and design an adaptive calibration function specifically for predicate classification. This function enables us to dynamically adjust the classification scores for each predicate category. Additionally, we introduce a Distribution Alignment technique that effectively balances the class distribution after the feature extraction phase reaches a stable state, thereby facilitating the retraining of the classification head. Importantly, our Distribution Alignment strategy is model-independent and does not require additional supervision, making it applicable to a wide range of SGG models. Using the scene graph diagnostic toolkit on Visual Genome and several popular models, we achieved significant improvements over the previous state-of-the-art methods with our model. Compared to the TDE model, our model improved mR@100 by 70.5% for PredCls, by 84.0% for SGCls, and by 97.6% for SGDet tasks.

  • This paper proposes an AI model that determines parking and non-parking zones based on return authentication photos to address parking issues that may arise in shared electric scooter systems. In this study, we used a pre-trained Segformer_b0 model on ADE20K and fine-tuned it on tactile blocks and electric scooters to extract segmentation maps of objects related to parking and non-parking areas. We also presented a method to perform binary classification of parking and non-parking zones using the Swin model. Finally, after labeling a total of 1,689 images and fine-tuning the SegFomer model, it achieved an mAP of 81.26%, recognizing electric scooters and tactile blocks. The classification model, trained on a total of 2,817 images, achieved an accuracy of 92.11% and an F1-Score of 91.50% for classifying parking and non-parking areas.

  • High forecast accuracy is required as social issues on particulate matter increase. Therefore, many attempts are being made using machine learning to increase the accuracy of particulate matter prediction. However, due to problems with the distribution of imbalance in the concentration and various characteristics of particulate matter, the learning of prediction models is not well done. In this paper, to solve these problems, a binary classification model was proposed to predict the concentration of particulate matter needed for prediction by dividing it into two classes based on the value of 80㎍/㎥. Four classification algorithms were utilized for the binary classification of PM10. Classification algorithms used logistic regression, decision tree, SVM, and MLP. As a result of performance evaluation through confusion matrix, the MLP model showed the highest binary classification performance with 89.98% accuracy among the four models.

  • The present fast-moving era brings a serious stress issue that affects elders and youngsters. Everyone has undergone stress factors at least once in their lifetime. Stress is more among youngsters as they are new to the working environment. whereas the stress factors for elders affect the individual and overall performance in an organization. Electroencephalogram (EEG) based stress level classification is one of the widely used methodologies for stress detection. However, the signal processing methods evolved so far have limitations as most of the stress classification models compute the stress level in a predefined environment to detect individual stress factors. Specifically, machine learning based stress classification models requires additional algorithm for feature extraction which increases the computation cost. Also due to the limited feature learning characteristics of machine learning algorithms, the classification performance reduces and inaccurate sometimes. It is evident from numerous research works that deep learning models outperforms machine learning techniques. Thus, to classify all the emotions based on stress level in this research work a hybrid deep learning algorithm is presented. Compared to conventional deep learning models, hybrid models outperforms in feature handing. Better feature extraction and selection can be made through deep learning models. Adding machine learning classifiers in deep learning architecture will enhance the classification performances. Thus, a hybrid convolutional neural network model was presented which extracts the features using CNN and classifies them through machine learning support vector machine. Simulation analysis of benchmark datasets demonstrates the proposed model performances. Finally, existing methods are comparatively analyzed to demonstrate the better performance of the proposed model as a result of the proposed hybrid combination.

  • In this paper, we improve the performance of cardiac disorder classification by continuous heart sound signals using automatic segmentation and extreme learning machine (ELM). The accuracy of the conventional cardiac disorder classification systems degrades because murmurs and click sounds contained in the abnormal heart sound signals cause incorrect or missing starting points of the first (S1) and the second heart pulses (S2) in the automatic segmentation stage, In order to reduce the performance degradation due to segmentation errors, we find the positions of the S1 and S2 pulses, modify them using the time difference of S1 or S2, and extract a single period of heart sound signals. We then obtain a feature vector consisting of the mel-scaled filter bank energy coefficients and the envelope of uniform-sized sub-segments from the single-period heart sound signals. To classify the heart disorders, we use ELM with a single hidden layer. In cardiac disorder classification experiments with 9 cardiac disorder categories, the proposed method shows the classification accuracy of 81.6% and achieves the highest classification accuracy among ELM, multi-layer perceptron (MLP), support vector machine (SVM), and hidden Markov model (HMM).

  • In this paper, a car model recognition system using image processing and machine learning is proposed and it's performance is also evaluated. The system recognizes the front of car because the front of car is different for every car model and manufacturer, and difficult to remodel. The proposed method extracts HOG features from training data set, then builds classification model by the HOG features. If user takes photo of the front of car, then HOG features are extracted from the photo image and are used to determine the model of car based on the trained classification model. Experimental results show a high average recognition rate of 98%.
