Globally, the need for remanufacturing or reusing ships and various mechanical parts continues to increase due to environmental problems including global warming. Research on remanufacturing is being carried out in many areas. However, research on inspection and classification to identify the performance or degree of wear of mechanical parts is insufficient. In particular, studies on the inspection-ability and classification-ability of mechanical parts equipped with various materials and complex forms are highly required. Remanufacturing must be considered from the stage of design to extend the life cycle of mechanical parts. Particularly, it is very important to perform research for evaluating the degree of ease to inspect and classify various sorts of wear or deterioration of parts caused by long-term use easily. In this study, the degree of ease in inspecting or classifying mechanical parts for remanufacturing is defined as inspection-ability and classification-ability. In fact, to remanufacture old parts, inspection-ability and classification-ability should be reflected from the stage of design. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the inspection-ability and classification-ability of ships and various mechanical parts. This researcher has presented the quantitative evaluation procedure of inspection-ability and classification-ability, derived the factors and ranges that influence each of the details of easiness, assigned scores according to the ranges of the factors, and calculated weights. Lastly, this study presents the procedure of scoring to evaluate the overall weights of inspection-ability and classification-ability and also inspection-ability and classification-ability quantitatively.
The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school pupil's classification ability that appears in classification activity. For this study, we developed 2 suitable tools in classification activity achievement. One is artificial stimulus card that comes into view clearly. The other is natural stimulus card that does not come into view well. The test was administrated to 376 pupils of 2, 4, and 6 grade in D elementary School in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The result proved in this study was as following. First, elementary school pupil's classification ability showed the developmental change as the grade level rises. Second, there was no statistical difference between boys and girls. Third, there was high correlation between sort artificial category and natural category in their ability. Fourth, classification achievement rate of constant level by grade was seen regardless of the items. The findings above gives following guidance in science classification learning. First, if teacher understands the development of students' classification ability, more effective classification guidance is available. Second, to cultivate students' classification ability, we should devise and apply program depending on their classification ability by grade.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of motor ability on mastery motivation in children with cerebral palsy. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between the classification ability quotient and cortisol-hormonal change of middle school students. Thirty-three students, second graders in middle school, performed the classification task that can be an indicator of students' classification ability. And then amount of the secreted hormone was analyzed during task performance. The study results were as follows: First, the classification methods of students mostly utilized visual, qualitative. Their classification patterns for each subject were static, partial, and non-comparative. Second, the amount of stress-hormone was secreted from students during the experiment decreased in overall after the free classification. It seemed that student-centered activity relieved stress. Third, the classification ability quotient turned out to be significantly correlated to the stress hormone, which means that there was a close relationship between classification ability and stress level. It was also considered that stress had a positive effect on the improvement of classification ability. This study provided physiologically more accurate information on the stress increased in the learning process than other conventional studies based on reports or interviews. Finally, researchers could recognize the effect of stress in the cognitive activity and the need to find an appropriate level of stress in learning processes.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of pressure ulcer classification system education on hospital nurses' knowledge and visual discrimination ability of pressure ulcer classification system and incontinence-associated dermatitis. Methods: One group pre- and post-test was used. A convenience sample of 96 nurses participating in pressure ulcer classification system education, were enrolled in single institute. The education program was composed of a 50-minute lecture on pressure ulcer classification system and case-studies. The pressure ulcer classification system and incontinence-associated dermatitis knowledge test and visual discrimination tool, consisting of 21 photographs including clinical information were used. Paired t-test was performed using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The overall mean difference of pressure ulcer classification system knowledge (t=4.67, p<.001) and visual discrimination ability (t=10.58, p<.001) were statistically and significantly increased after pressure ulcer classification system education. Conclusion: Overall understanding of pressure ulcer classification system and incontinence-associated dermatitis after pressure ulcer classification system education was increased, but tended to have lack of visual discrimination ability regarding stage III, suspected deep tissue injury. Differentiated continuing education based on clinical practice is needed to improve knowledge and visual discrimination ability for pressure ulcer classification system, and comparison experiment research is required to evaluate its effects.

Categorization is an important human function used to process different stimuli. It is also one of the most important factors affecting measurement of a person's classification ability. Explicit categorization, the representative system by which categorization ability is measured, can verbally describe the categorization rule. The purpose of this study was to develop a prediction model for categorization ability as it relates to the classification process of living organisms using fMRI. Fifty-five participants were divided into two groups: a model generation group, comprised of twenty-seven subjects, and a model verification group, made up of twenty-eight subjects. During prediction model generation, functional connectivity was used to analyze temporal correlations between brain activation regions. A classification ability quotient (CQ) was calculated to identify the verbal categorization ability distribution of each subject. Additionally, the connectivity coefficient (CC) was calculated to quantify the functional connectivity for each subject. Hence, it was possible to generate a prediction model through regression analysis based on participants' CQ and CC values. The resultant categorization ability regression model predictor was statistically significant; however, researchers proceeded to verify its predictive ability power. In order to verify the predictive power of the developed regression model, researchers used the regression model and subjects' CC values to predict CQ values for twenty-eight subjects. Correlation between the predicted CQ values and the observed CQ values was confirmed. Results of this study suggested that explicit categorization ability differs at the brain network level of individuals. Also, the finding suggested that differences in functional connectivity between individuals reflect differences in categorization ability. Last, researchers have provided a new method for predicting an individual's categorization ability by measuring brain activation.
Purpose : The aim of this study was to determine the reliability of parents and therapists-assessed manual ability using the Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) for children with cerebral palsy Methods : Subjects were 136 children with cerebral palsy using rehabilitation programs in 16 welfare centers. Reliability was determined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Parents and therapists assessed manual ability of children using MACS. Result : The 136 children (Male 73, Female 63) mean age was 7y 5mo years [range 3y 11mo - 13y 5mo]. The overall agreement between parents-assessed and therapists- assessed MACS was good (ICC = 0.84, 95% confidence interval 0.77-0.88). Conclusion : The MACS offers a reliable method for population-based research and communicating about the manual ability of children with CP.
A hybrid kernel function of support vector machine is proposed to improve the classification performance of power quality disturbances. The kernel function mathematical model of support vector machine directly affects the classification performance. Different types of kernel functions have different generalization ability and learning ability. The single kernel function cannot have better ability both in learning and generalization. To overcome this problem, we propose a hybrid kernel function that is composed of two single kernel functions to improve both the ability in generation and learning. In simulations, we respectively used the single and multiple power quality disturbances to test classification performance of support vector machine algorithm with the proposed hybrid kernel function. Compared with other support vector machine algorithms, the improved support vector machine algorithm has better performance for the classification of power quality signals with single and multiple disturbances.

This study is concerned with the evaluation of predictive ability of classification models with ordered multiple categories. If categories can be ordered or ranked the spread of misclassification should be considered to evaluate the performance of the classification models using loss rate since the apparent error rate can not measure the spread of misclassification. Since loss rate is known to underestimate the true loss rate the bootstrap method were used to estimate the true loss rate. thus this study suggests the method to evaluate the predictive power of the classification models using loss rate and the bootstrap estimate of the true loss rate.
The purposes of this study were to examine inter-rater reliability of the Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) by children's age and to identify the correlation between the MACS and the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Twenty-six children with CP older than two years participated. Children with CP were classified according to the MACS and the GMFCS by two physical therapists. Inter-rater reliability was analyzed using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICCs). The results showed that the reliability of the MACS for children aged 2~3 years was .88 and for children aged above 4 years was .98 (p<.05). Children with quadriplegia had a higher level of MACS than children with spastic hemiplegia and diplegia. A moderate relationship between the MACS and the GMFCS was found in all children (rater 1, r=.631; rater 2, r=.438). The MACS will be used for classification of children with CP according to the manual abilities. Thus, it offers a reliable method for communicating between therapists about the manual ability of children with CP who are older than 2 years.
