  • This study applies factor analysis of an author cocitation frequency matrix derived from a database file that consists of a total of 1095 cited reference records taken from 95 citing decision support systems articles published in Korean journals. This study identified the influence of social psychology, cognitive psychology, management information systems, strategic management, and organizational behavior/organizational design to the development of group support systems, user-interface, and executive information systems research subspecialties. This research establishes a benchmark to be used in the future research, which is necessary to account for the ongoing changes in the intellectual development and structure of DSS Research in Korea before solid conclusion can be reached about the maturity and on-going development of the DSS field in Korean.

  • This research proposes the use of a patent analysis methodology that can suggest promising technology in the ICT sector at the micro-level. This approach identifies core patents from the technology field, groups them as research frontiers (RFs), and develops a visualized network based on the citing relationships to monitor the relationship among RFs. In addition, it calculates a "promising index" based on the growth potential, impact, and marketability of patents to ultimately derive promising RFs. To illustrate the proposed approach, this research presents analysis results for a chosen area, which is the user interface and user experience (UI/UX) technology field. By proposing promising technological fields at the micro-level, the proposed methodology will serve as a useful decision-making support tool in selecting R&D projects, technology planning, and determining technology policy direction.

  • Jejoongshinpyeon was published in 1799 by 康命吉 upon receiving orders from the king. This book is a critical accedence of Treasured Mirror of Oriental Medicine and aims to enunciate summarized medical knowledge. Through examining citation methods in Jejoongshinpyeon, the following conclusions could be reached: First, citation methods displayed in Jejoongshinpyeon is largely based on Treasured Mirror of Oriental Medicine. Second, the specific method of citing Treasured Mirror of Oriental Medicine involves collecting and describing annotations from different titles.. Third, Jejoongshinpyeon cites other medical texts by making additions to symptoms or prescriptions not included in Dongeuibogam.

  • The sternocleidomastoid (SCM) artery supplying blood to the SCM muscle has different origins according to its anatomical segment. The authors performed cadaveric neck dissection to review the surgical anatomy of neurovascular structures surrounding the carotid artery in the neck. During the dissection, an unusual finding was cited in which the SCM artery supplying the middle part of the SCM muscle originated from the lingual artery (LA); it was also noted that it crossed over the hypoglossal nerve (HN). There have been extremely rare reports citing the SCM artery originated from the LA. Though the elevation of the HN over the internal carotid artery was relatively high, the vascular loop crossing over the HN was very close to the carotid bifurcation. Special anatomical consideration is required to avoid the injury of the HN during carotid artery surgery.

  • Unlike most print resources such as magazines and journals that go through an filtering process (e.g. editing, peering review), information in world Wide Web and Internet is mostly unfiltered. Using and citing information found over Web may not be reliable or authoritative. Therefore it is necessary to develop skills to evaluate what we found on the net. Fifteen evaluation documents for WWW are collected, analyzed from digital sources of U. S. academic libraries and common criteria for evaluating WWW resources are developed. Also several practical steps were made to overcome the quality problems.

  • In life insurance the goal of medical examination is to exclude medical, environmental adverse-selection to the utmost. And keeping the principle of equity and the homogeneity of risk in the group of the insured, you are able to manage the company reasonably and realize the orginal ideal of life insurance, namely, the mutual assistance. And yet, the cases of the misrepresentation have been occurred frequently so far. As a result of them, the development of life insurance industry has been obstructed, and public criticism has been caused. Carrying medical examination, you have to know how the representation is important, And citing what the misrepresentation and false representation influenced the results, I want you to refer to medical exam-business.

  • In this paper, we report a case study of applying puzzle solving as a programming practice. There are many students, who have attended computer programming language courses, have had difficulties in accomplishing the course assignments. It is because just following and citing the programming language course materials is not sufficient for constructing computer programs. Many professional developers have stated that computer programming for small problems is an art of puzzle solving, where developing enterprise-size computer programming projects involves architectural insights which are already dealt in software engineering literatures. Following those backgrounds, we have explored the applicability of puzzle solving in a C++ object oriented programming course and have reported the results. The experimental results show that puzzle solving is effective to the students who are interested in computer programming and have at least beginner-level knowledge and expertise, but it turned out that puzzle solving assignments still does not draw much attention of the students who are not seriously interested in computer programming.

  • In this paper, to solve a vested interests of old papers in scientific literature ranking, we propose novel method that considers not only the current citations from other published papers but also the latent citations of papers to be published in the future. Furthermore, the method also considers the relevance of contents in the citing and cited papers. Finally, we verify the superiority of our proposed method through extensive experiments.

  • Flat plate constructions are structural systems which are directly placed on columns without any beams. Various solution methods have been introduced for the solution of flat plate structures under horizontal and vertical loads. In most of these solution methods, models comprising of one column and one plate have been studied. In other solutions, however, co-behavior of two reciprocal columns has been investigated. In this study, interrelations of all the columns on one storey have been examined. At the end of the study structure consisting of nine columns and four plates has been chosen as a model. Then unit moment has been successively applied to each of these columns and unit moments carried over the other columns have been found. By working out solutions far plates and columns varying in ratio, carry-over factors have been found and these factors given in tables. In addition, fixed-end moment factors on the columns arising due to vertical load were also calculated. Then citing slope-deflection equations to which these results could be applied, some examples of moment and horizontal equilibrium equations have been given.

  • The academic research performance is often quantitatively measured by means of using citation frequency. The citation frequency-based indicators, such as h-index and impact factor, are commonly used reflecting the citation quality to some extent. However, these frequency-based indicators are usually carried out based on the assumption that all citations are equal. This may lead to biased evaluations in that, the attributes of the citing objects and cited objects are significant. A high-accuracy evaluation method is needed. In this paper, we review various citation quality-based evaluation indicators, and categorize them considering the algorithms being applied. We discuss the pros and cons of these indicators, and compare them from four dimensions. The outcomes will be useful for our further research on distinguishing citation quality.
