원형공을 가진 보의 응력분포와 소성역 전파거동에 관한 연구 (A study on the stress distribution and plastic area propagation in the beams with a circular hole)

  • The beams with a circular hole are often used for constructing structures. The center of the circular hole is normally located in neutral axis and the stress state around the hole due to bending moment is trivial. But the stress level around the hole due to shear force is expected to be significant especially in the case of beams made of shape steels. In this paper, the stress distributions around the circular hole of beams were presented. Using polar coordinates and generallized stress function, the formulas of stress components were derived. The aspects of plastic area propagations based on von Mises yield criteria were also shown graphically. In order to verify the formulas presented in this paper, a beam of I-shape steel with a circular hole was made and the strains around the hole were measured under various loading conditions. The experimental results were proved to coincide fairly well with the calculated values.

  • A weak-form formulation of finite annular prism methods (FAPM) based on Reissner's mixed variational theorem (RMVT), is developed for the quasi three-dimensional (3D) static analysis of two-directional functionally graded (FG) circular plates with various boundary conditions and under mechanical loads. The material properties of the circular plate are assumed to obey either a two-directional power-law distribution of the volume fractions of the constituents through the radial-thickness surface or an exponential function distribution varying doubly exponentially through it. These FAPM solutions of the loaded FG circular plates with both simply-supported and clamped edges are in excellent agreement with the solutions obtained using the 3D analytical approach and two-dimensional advanced plate theories available in the literature.

  • For the application of factory automation, a 3-axis numerical control system with personal computer and KM3701 function generator LSI chip, which has liner, circular, parabolic, logarithmic, and exponential interpolations, is developed. The developed system also has 2 control function to stabilize tooling speed and 1/1000mm step sizes.

Effects of Environmental Reinforcement Through Motivation on Motor and Cognitive Function in Rats With Focal Ischemic Brain Injury

  • It is known that individual factors as cognitive, perception, emotion, and motivation may greatly influence on recovery from neurologic region. This study was to investigate the effects of environmental reinforcement through motivation to perform the tasks voluntarily on motor and cognition function in rats with focal ischemic brain injury. Focal ischemic brain injury was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats (15 rats, $250{\pm}50$ g) through middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo). And then, experiment groups were randomly divided into three groups; The control group: MCAo induction ($n_1$=5), the environmental reinforcement (ER) group: the application for ER after MCAo induction ($n_2$=5), the environmental reinforcement through motivation (ERM) group: the application for ERM after MCAo induction ($n_3$=5). The climbing test (CT) and the modified limb placing tests (MLPTs) to measure the motor function and the Morris water maze acquisition test (MWMAT) and the Morris water maze retention test (MWMRT) to measure the cognitive function were performed. For the CT, the ERM group was significantly larger than the ER group. For the MLPTs, the ERM group was significantly decreased compared to other groups. For the MWMAT, the time to find the circular platform in the ERM group significantly decreased compared to other groups. For the MWMRT, the time to dwell on the quadrant circular platform in the ERM group was significantly increased compared to other groups. These results suggested that the ERM could improve the motor and cognitive functions in the rats with focal ischemic brain injury.

  • An inverse problem of transient heat conduction in a thin finite circular plate with the given temperature distribution on the interior surface of a thin circular plate being a function of both time and position has been solved with the help of integral transform technique and also determine the thermal deflection on the outer curved surface of a thin circular plate defined as $0\;{\leq}\;r\;{\leq}\;a,\;0\;{\leq}\;z\;{\leq}\;h$. The results, obtained in the series form in terms of Bessel's functions, are illustrated numerically.

회전요동하는 원통내의 유동특성 - 이론적 해석 (Fluid Flow in a Circular Cylinder Subject to Circulatory Oscillation-Theoretical Analysis)

  • A fluid flow inside a circular cylinder subject to horizontal and circular oscillation is analyzed theoretically. Under the assumption of small-amplitude oscillation, the governing equations take linear forms. The velocity field is obtained in terms of the first kind of Bessel function of order 1. It was found that a particle describes an orbit close to a circle in the central region and an arc near the side wall. We also obtained the Stokes' drift velocity induced by the traveling wave along the circumferential direction. The Eulerian streaming velocities at the edge of the bottom and side boundary layers were also obtained. It was shown that the vertical component of the steady streaming velocity on the side wall is almost proportional to the amplitude of the free surface motion.

  • A theoretical formulation for the analysis of free vibration of clamped-free cylindrical shells with plates attached at arbitrary axial position(s) was completed and it was programed to get the numerical results which yield natural frequencies and mode shape of the combined system of the plate and the shells. The frequencies and mode shapes from theoretical calculation were compared with those of commercial finite element code, ANSYS. In order to validate the theory, modal test was also performed by impact test and FFT analysis. The results shows good agreement with those of ANSYS and test results in frequencies and mode shapes. The method developed herein is likely to be used for the analysis of the free vibration of the clamped-free circular cylindrical shells with any kinds of lids such as hollow circular plates, conical shells, spherical shells, or semi-spherical shells.

순환 확률분포를 이용한 다중 음원 방향 추정 (Direction Estimation of Multiple Sound Sources Using Circular Probability Distributions)

  • 본 논문에서는 주기성을 갖는 순환 확률분포를 이용하여 $0^{\circ}{\sim}360^{\circ}$ 범위의 다중 음원의 방향을 추정하는 기법을 제안한다. 음원의 방향 정보를 담고 있는 마이크로폰간의 위상차는 확률분포의 혼합물로 간주될 수 있으며, 음원 방향은 이 확률분포의 혼합물에 적용된 로그-우도함수 (log-likelihood function)를 최대화함으로써 추정된다. 주기성을 갖는 데이터의 분석에 von Mises 확률분포가 널리 활용된다는 사실은 잘 알려져 있지만, 본 논문에서는 기존의 Gaussian이나 Laplacian 확률분포에 $2{\pi}$ 모듈로 (modulo) 연산을 적용함으로써 $0^{\circ}{\sim}360^{\circ}$ 범위의 주기성을 갖는 순환 확률분포를 정의하고 이를 방향 추정에 활용한다. 순환 확률분포의 혼합물에 대한 로그-우도함수를 최대가 되게 하는 음원의 방향은 EM (Expectation-Maximization) 알고리즘을 이용하여 추정된다. 다양한 반향 환경에서의 실험 결과 Laplacian 확률분포가 von Mises나 Gaussian 확률분포보다 우수한 성능을 제공함을 확인할 수 있다.

2차원 채널 내의 원형실린더를 지나는 스톡스 유동에 대한 연구 (Study on Stokes Flow Past Circular Cylinder in Two-Dimensional Channel)

  • 2차원 채널 내의 원형실린더를 지나는 유동에 대한 이론적 연구를 수행하였다. 원형 실린더는 채널의 상하 중앙부에 위치하며, 원형실린더에서 멀리 떨어진 채널 내에는 포아제 유동이 존재한다. 스톡스 근사를 적용하고 유동의 고유함수 전개와 오차의 최소제곱법을 사용하여 유동장을 해석하였다. 해석의 결과로 유동함수와 압력분포 식을 구하였으며, 채널의 벽면과 원형실린더에 작용하는 압력 및 전단응력 분포를 계산하였다. 원형실린더로 인해 부가적으로 발생하는 압력 강하와 원형실린더가 받는 힘을 원형실린더의 반지름 길이의 함수로 계산하였으며, 대표적인 실린더 반지름 길이에 대하여 유선과 압력분포를 도시하였다.
