침지형 MF 중공사막을 이용한 하수 2차 처리수의 재이용 연구 (Treatment of Secondary Municipal Wastewater by Submerged Hollow Fiber MF Membranes for Water Reuse)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of submerged hollow fiber MF processes to treat secondary wastewater for water reuse. Specifically, membrane productivity and filtrate water quality were investigated under various operating conditions (i.e. flux, recovery, and backwash rate) at pilot-scale. Membrane fouling became more severe with increasing flux and recovery, suggesting that low flux operation (< 25 LMH) was desirable. At high flux operating(> 37.5 LMH), increasing backwash rate showed only limited success. The biofouling, quantified by PEPA and BFHPC, was also significant in wastewater reclamation, and biogrowth control by chlorine, were necessary to improve membrane productivity. Filtrate water qualities are in good compliance with water reuse regulations regardless of operating conditions (flux, recovery and backwash rate). Particle (e.g. turbidity) removal ranged from 89 to 98%, while only 11 to 21% of organics (e.g. NPDOC) were removed by MF membrane. Only small improvement in biostability (e.g. AOC) was achieved by MF system, and thus, without post disinfection, significant microorganisms might be present in the filtrate due to regrowth. Lastly, in order to further investigate pathogen removal, controlled microbial challenge tests were performed by monitoring Giardia, Cryptosporidium, bacteria and virus, and showed relatively good microbial removal.

  • [ $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ ] films have been prepared on $LaAlO_3$ (100) single-crystal substrates by a metalorganic deposition using dichloroacetate precursors (DCA-MOD). Calcination conditions were varied in order to optimize the microstructure and the superconducting properties of YBCO film. Coated films were calcined at various temperatures ranging from $400{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ in flowing humid oxygen atmosphere. Ramping rate to calcination tempertures was $2.22^{\circ}C/min$. Conversion heat treatment was performed at $800^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in flowing Ar gas containing 1000 ppm oxygen with a humidity of 9.45%. Observations of surface and cross sectional SEM microstructure showed that the particle size in the calcined film increased in the range of 100-200 nm with heating rate and the calcination temperature. SEM EDS analysis showed that 13 a/o of chlorine was contained in the calcined film. It was also observed that the porosity increased with the heating rate and temperature. Porous microstructure was developed when YBCO films were prepared using porous calcined film. Dense microstructure and high $J_c$ over $1\;MA/cm^2$ was obtained when calcination was carried out at the temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ with a heating rate of $2.22^{\circ}C/min$.

Zerovalent Iron 및 Manganese Oxide에 의한 살균제 Chlorothalonil의 탈염소화 (Dechlorination of the Fungicide Chlorothalonil by Zerovalent Iron and Manganese Oxides)

  • Arylnitrile계 살균제인 chlorothalonil의 탈염소화를 촉진시키기 위하여 금속촉매인 zerovalent iron(ZVI) 및 manganese oxide(pyrolusite 및 birnessite)를 수중 처리하여 pH에 따른 chlorothalonil의 분해정도, 탈염소화 그리고 분해산물의 구조를 조사하였다. ZVI, pyrolusite 및 birnessite를 처리하였을 경우 PH가 낮을수록 chlorothalonil의 분해효율은 높게 나타났다. pH 5.0에서 ZVI, pyrolusite 및 birnessite를 각각 1.0%(v/w) 처리하였을 때 chlorothalonil의 분해반감기는 ZVI 4.7시간, pyrolusite 13.46시간 및 birnessite 21.38시간으로 나타났다. Chlorothalonil의 탈염소화 정도를 나타내는 D/N value의 평균값은 ZVI, pyrolusite 및 birnessite를 처리하였을 경우 각각 2.85, 1.12 및 1.09 이었다. Chlorothalonil의 분해산물은 GC-MS를 이용하여 분석한 결과 pyrolusite와 birnessite에 의해 chloride ion이 하나 이탈된 trichloro-1,3-dicyanobenzene과 둘 이탈된 dichloro-1,3-dicyanobenzene으로 확인되었으며, ZVI에 의한 분해산물은 pyrolusite, birnessite의 분해산물과 동일한 trichloro-1,3-dicyanobenzene, dichloro-1,3-dicyanobenzene을 비롯하여 환원이 더 진행된 chloro-1,3-dicyanobenzene과 chlorocyanobenzene으로 확인되었다.

수경재배에서 제설제 염소이온 농도에 따른 개운죽 (Dracaena braunii)의 생육반응 (Growth Response in Hydroponic Cultured Dracaena braunii Grown under Various Chloride Ion Concentrations)

  • The present study was conducted for the purpose of analyzing the growth response of Dracaena braunii treated with chloride ions and to evaluate its salt tolerance. Distilled water (CON) was spiked with 1 (C1), 2 (C2), 5 (C5), 10 (C10) and 15 g/L (C15) $CaCl_2$, respectively. Acidity (pH) and electrical conductivity of hydroponic solution, and leaf width, leaf length, root length, number of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight and the water content of Dracaena braunii were measured. Acidity and electrical conductivity remarkably increased commensurate with increasing concentrations of $CaCl_2$. Growth in the C1 treatment was better than that in CON, whereas the C10 or C15 treatments caused either slow growth or withering of the plants. Fresh weight, dry weight and water content were significantly decreased in response to $CaCl_2$ concentration, compared with those in the control. These results showed that $CaCl_2$ concentration less than 1 g/L may be used as a hydroponic solution for D. braunii, as long as the water quality is not too saline. The chlorine ion has a negative effect on the growth.

  • 기후변화 대응을 위한 청정 화력발전 기술의 일환으로 폐기물과 바이오매스를 중심으로 한 신재생연료의 이용이 크게 증가함에 따라 특히 고온 고압 스팀 생산이 필요한 발전용 보일러 열교환기의 고온부식(High temperature corrosion) 문제가 심각한 현안으로 대두되고 있다. 이러한 문제점은 저급연료에 포함된 염화알칼리 성분이 보일러 내 열교환기 중 표면온도가 가장 높은 과열기(Superheater) 또는 재열기(Reheater)에 점착된 후 염소에 의해 부식이 가속화되어 일어난다. 이를 해결하기 위해 설계 변경, 재료 개선, 연료 전처리 등의 고온부식 회피 방법과 함께 첨가제를 이용한 고온부식 방지 기술이 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 보일러에서 고온부식 방지를 위한 다양한 접근 중 특히 첨가제를 이용한 연구개발 현황을 소개한다.

  • There has been an accelerating increase in water reuse due to growing world population, rapid urbanization, and increasing scarcity of water resources. However, it is well recognized that water reuse practice is associated with many human health and ecological risks due to numerous chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms. Especially, the potential transmission of infectious disease by hundreds of pathogenic viruses in wastewater is one of the most serious human health risks associated with water reuse. In this study, we determined the response of different bacteriophages representing various bacteriophage groups to chlorination in real wastewater in order to identify a more reliable bacteriophage indicator system for chlorination in wastewater. Different bacteriophages were spiked into secondary effluents from wastewater plants from three different geographic areas, and then subjected to various doses of free chlorine and contact time at $5^{\circ}C$ in a bench-scale batch disinfection system. The inactivation of ${\phi}X174$ was relatively rapid and reached ~4 log10 with a CT value of 5 mg/L*min. On the other hand, the inactivation of bacteriophage PRD1 and MS2 were much slower than the one for ${\phi}X174$ and only ~1 log10 inactivation was achieved by a CT value of 10 mg/L*min. Overall, the results of this study suggest that bacteriophage both MS2 and PRD1 could be a reliable indicator for human pathogenic viruses for chlorination in wastewater treatment processes and water reuse practice.

우분뇨의 고형연료화와 고온호기산화 공정 적용 가능성에 관한 연구 (Application of TAO System and RDF for Treatment of Cattle Manure)

  • We studied the possibility to produce solid fuel using cattle manure and to apply TAO (Thermophilic Aerobic Oxidation) process of solid-liquid separation fraction. The physiochemical compositions of cattle manure solid fuel chip were analyzed as water 0.12%, low calorific value 3,510 kcal/kg, ashes 11.9%, chlorine 0.82%, sulfur dust 0.5%, mercury non-detection, cadmium 1.0 mg/kg, lead 2 mg/kg, arsenic non-detection. In treating cattle manure with TAO reactor the internal temperature of the reactor was increasing higher and $50^{\circ}C$ and over was maintained after 20 hours on. The physiochemical compositions of liquids increased from pH 7.3 to pH 9.18 and EC decreased from 4.6 to 3.48 mS/cm in treating process of cattle manure with TAO reactor. COD and SCOD decreased from 16,800 to 10,400 mg/L, from 4,600 to 2,040 mg/L respectively, which showed about 38% and 56% of remove efficiency respectively.

Degradation of the Herbicide Butachlor by Laboratory-synthesized Nanoscale $Fe^0$ in Batch Experiments

  • Degradation of the herbicide butachlor was investigated using laboratory-synthesized zerovalent iron ($Fe^0$). The synthesized zerovalent iron was determined to be nanoscale powder by scanning electron microscopic analysis. To investigate degradation of butachlor using the synthesized nanoscale zerovalent iron, time-course batch experiments were conducted by treating the solution of butachlor formulation with the iron. More than 90% degradation of butachlor was observed by iron treatment within 24 h. The synthesized nanoscale zerovalent iron showed an increase in particle aggregation in the batch tests. Green rust formation and a pH drop in solutions were observed, suggesting that the oxidation of the iron occurred. When the iron was extracted with dichloromethane, a negligible concentration was found in the extract, suggesting that butachlor did not bind to the iron particles. GC/MS analysis detected the dechlorinated product as a major degradation product of butachlor in the solutions. The data indicate that laboratory-synthesized zerovalent iron functioned as a reductant to remove electron-withdrawing chlorine, giving the dechlorinated product.

식물계활성탄과 석탄계활성탄에서의 세균재생장 비교 (Comparison of Bacterial Regrowth on Plant- and Coal-based Granular Activated Carbon)

  • 정수용 입상활성탄 (granular activated carbon, GAC)으로 사용되는 식물계와 석탄계 활성탄의 미생물 재생장 현상을 파악하고 비교하기 위해 활성탄 칼럼을 대상으로, 유입수와 유출수 비교와 함께 활성탄 상의 종속영양세균의 분포와 활성을 분석하였다. 활성탄 칼럼은 총유기탄소와 잔류염소를 잘 제거하였으며 이온은 잘 제거하지 못하는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 칼럼 유출수의 세균수는 10일째 파과 (breakthrough)가 발생한 후 증가하여 최종적으로 석탄계와 식물계 활성탄에서 각각 1.1 ${\times}$ $10^3$, 6.2 ${\times}$ $10^2$ CFU/mL로 나타났다. 칼럼 내부 활성탄 상의 미생물 활성은 GAC-C가 15.35~29.06$\mu\textrm{g}$ INT-formazan/g-GAC/h이었고, 세균수와 세균활성 모두 석탄계가 조금 높았다. 입상활성탄 상의 미생물 재생장 현상이 확인되었고, 석탄계 활성탄이 야자계 활성탄보다 미생물 재생장 유발 효과가 큰 것으로 판명되었으며, 활성탄 상의 세균에 의한 유기물 제거능력이 확인되었다.

서방출형 이산화염소 가스 젤팩 첨가가 닭가슴육 저장 중 지질산패 및 정미성분의 변화 (Changes in Lipid Oxidation and Taste Compounds of Chicken Breast Meat by Slow-released ClO2 Gas Gel-pack during Storage)

  • To extend the shelf-life of chicken breast meat, samples were treated with gel-packs containing slow-released $ClO_2$ gas at 7-15 ppm for 8 days at $4^{\circ}C$. And the changes in lipid oxidation and taste compounds of the samples were investigated. TBARS value of the chicken breast was slightly increased during storage. TBARS value of gas treatments was similar to the control during storage. There were 14 fatty acids in the chicken breast. And there was no change in the fatty acid composition during storage, and there was no significant difference between the control and gas treatments. The content of free amino acids was gradually increased during storage. The content of free amino acids were not significantly different between the control and gas treatments during storage. The content of GMP in the control and gas treatments were decreased during storage. However, gas treatments showed slightly higher content than that of control. AMP was not significantly different between the control and gas treatments. IMP gradually decreased during storage and the content of inosine and hypoxanthine was increased. IMP, inosine and hypoxanthine contents of gas treatment were similar to control, but the control tended to change more rapidly than those of gas treatments.
