Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate knowledge related to child obesity of child daycare center workers. Methods: The participants in this study were 360 child daycare center workers in 2 cities in South Gyeongsang Province. Data were collected from February to June, 2011, using self-report questionnaires including questions about the general characteristics of the daycare center workers and their knowledge related to child obesity. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA were used to analyze the data with the SPSS WIN 16.0 program. Results: The knowledge scores of child daycare center workers about child obesity averaged 74.8. The domains of diet (0.87 points) and prevention (0.86 points) had high scores, while, the domains of general characteristics (0.64 points) and diagnosis (0.59 points) had low scores. Conclusion: These results indicate that obese education programs for child daycare center workers should be developed in order to identify and teach children with obesity appropriately.
This qualitative study is designated to explore the reality of social welfare related to the co-occurence of domestic violence and child maltreatment in Korea. "Alone and Together" is elicited as the main theme from the analysis of social workers' experiences with the co-occurence problem in the two fields of domestic violence and child maltreatment. Despite the fact that the social workers are aware of the co-occurence problem embedded in their field cases, they don't assess and intervene with the problem on set purpose. Each field has dealt with the problem according to the field priority for either women or children separately. However, the social workers in the both fields desire alternatives effective for their cooperation and linkage to each other when confronted with the intersection of interdependent needs and problem-solving for the woman and the child. The development of multi-level research, assessment tools, and compulsory education courses for practitioners related to the co-occurence problem is suggested.
This study examined the current status of the service networking experiences of workers in community child centers and the impact of various individual, organizational, and environmental factors on their service networking experiences. Structured questionnaires were mailed to the all community child centers in the Kyungnam area, and the data thus collected from 128 workers were used for the analysis. The findings indicated that most study participants did in fact possess service networking experience; however, the frequency was relatively low and the types of agencies in which this networking experienced was gained were somewhat limited. The results from the hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that being licensed social workers, the number of years in which a center had been operating, the numbers of workers and volunteers, the capacity of the centers, and workers' participation in work-related training were significantly associated with the frequency of worker's networking experiences. Based on the findings of this study, the implications for practice in promoting service networking among community child centers and other community resources were also discussed.
Case management is becoming increasingly more important in the field of social welfare. The purpose of this study was to examine the practice of case management at community child centers and to identify factors influencing their performance. In addition, this study also analysed the performance level of case management at each stage and the factors influencing the level at each stage. For the purpose of this study, data obtained from about 181 community child center workers in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnamdo were analyzed. According to the results of the analysis, in Model 1 which represents the category of socio-demographic and personal factors, three factors namely gender, experience in case management, and interpersonal skills were found to be significantly influential and they have an explanatory power of 21.5%. Under the category of organizational factors in Model 2, four factors were found to be influential: experience in case management, interpersonal skills, availability of case management guidelines, and holding case conferences. These factors account for 33% explanatory power, 11.5% higher than that of Model 1. In Model 3 which represents the third category of community network literacy, three factors namely interpersonal skills, availability of case management guidelines, and ability to utilize networks were found to influence case management at community child centers, and they have an explanatory power of 43.4%, 10.4% higher than that of Model 2. For the practice of social welfare, these findings have the implication that community child center workers need to improve their interpersonal skills by cultivating communication skills, collaborative problem-solving skills, conflict-management skills, and other relevant skills. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide specific guidelines for case management, to have regular case conferences, to establish a community network, and to reinforce cooperation and mutual support among institutions within the network.

But, some participants worried about decrease of responsibility of workers. Second, one hand, possibility of high-quality care for child is increased, on the other hand, possibility of improving attachment relationship between workers and children is decreased. some children is confused by shift. But, most important strength is that partners have complementary parenting roles through discussion about parenting skills. They have developed communication skills by trial and error, and growed with children through sharing. Third, many qualified persons have applied for institution because of improvement of working conditions, thus institutions had the chance of adopting qualified workers. These workers have various abilities and resources, could mobilize resources from community, and could progress various programs and intervene for children. But, institutions had many difficulties in process adopting daily two-shift roster because of unstable financial support and previous structure. Most of participants worried about that local government may cut down a subsidy.

This study aimed to implement the enhancement program for the social work practice competency for children of community child center workers and to evaluate the program's effects. For this purpose, the program was implemented for ten community child center workers five times for five weeks(once a week, 120 minutes per session). For the quantitative evaluation, a non-equivalent control group design among quasi-experimental designs was used, and for the qualitative evaluation, the written materials related with the program were collected and analyzed. The results of the quantitative evaluation revealed that the social work practice skills and worker-client relationship empowerment of the community child center workers who participated in the competency enhancement program were significantly improved. In the qualitative evaluation, the subjective experiences were presented, including the improvement of the worker's practice competency and the worker's awareness of the changes in the child, the recognition of the strong points and the points to be improved in the program. This study is expected to raise the expertise and effectiveness of community child center workers, and ultimately, to contribute to the healthy development and the improvement of the mental health of children by improving the social work practice competency of the workers in community child centers, which comprise the representative service delivery system for children in South Korea.
This study is to develop welfare programs based on the characteristics of middle-or-old-aged woman workers in manufacturing industry. 7cities and 2 counties in Kyunggi-Do were selected. for survey considering their accessibility. Total 471 woman workers were interviewed personally and the data has been analyzed using SPSS. First, the findings show that their family structure is characterized by nuclear family and they have school-aged children who need someone else's care, therefore they need child related services to help them such as after school care. Second, they have few welfare facilities in their work and they have never tried to find any outside their work. Thus, it is necessary to prepare welfare programs in their working place. The welfare programs they need most are discount stores, medical service, counseling service, and so on. In conclusion, the welfare needs of woman workers cannot be thought without considering family structure of woman workers, the degree of welfare facilities in the work, and their welfare needs.
Child welfare centers not only protect children at the first line of community, but also perform the tasks of systematic social service by linking the various resources of community and establishing a support system for children. Making quantitative growth, child welfare centers are faced with a request for operational systemicity and professionalism in terms of quality. For those purposes, the study conducted a survey by mail with those who were working for child welfare centers in Busan and Gyeongnam Province from March 2 to 25, 2016. Of the collected questionnaires, 550 whose responses were sincere were used in the final analysis. The analysis results show that psychological capital had the biggest influence on the job performance among practitioners of child welfare centers. Furthermore, in the chief of child welfare centers, the more having of professional capability, the more job performance they experienced. However, in the front-line social workers, professional capability did not affect the job performance. Those results indicate that the expansion of psychological capital should be a top priority to help the practitioners of child welfare centers improve their job performance.
