Dyeing of Cotton Knitting Fabrics with An inorganic substance -Centering around Loess and Mud- (무기물을 이용한 면 편성물 염색성 -황토, 머드를 중심으로-)

  • In this paper, the effect of the loess and mud of an inorganic substance dyed on cotton knitting fabrics have been studied The structure and chemical composition of loess and mud was analyzed. And the Far-Infrared emissivity and emission power, colorfastness, anti-bacterial properties cotton knitting fabrics dyed with loess and mud were also evaluated. The structure and chemical composion of loess and mud was almost identical structure and to be alike main components were SiO$_2$, Al$_2$0$_3$ and Fe$_2$O$_3$. The cotton hitting fabrics dyed with loess and mud have good colorfastness and anti-bacterial properties. when the dyed fabrics was after-treated with diphenyl ether, the anti-bacterial property were improved. Far-Infrared emissivity and emission power cotton knitting fabrics dyed with loess and mud have very good.

A study for corrosion products of Ancient iron objects (고대 철기유물의 부식 생성물에 관한 연구)

  • Chemical composion and crystal form of Corrosion products found on archaeological iron objects were analyzed using X-ray fluorescence analysis, micro-X-ray powder diffraction analysis and ion chromatographic technique. The nature and behavior of the corrosion products were studied in order to aid in the conservation and restoration of burial iron objects. Twenty-two samples analyzed in this study were collected from iron object found in Korea and Japan. The corrosion products of iron objects from burial mounds contain $\alpha$-FeOOH, $\beta$-FeOOH, $\gamma$-FeOOH, $Fe_3O_4$and amorphous iron hydroxides. The content of $\alpha$-HeOOH is the greatest. Because, Ageing for long period should change the amorphous iron hydroxides is considerably less than that in usual atmospheric corrosion products. The concentration of chlorine and sulfine is remarkably variable ($Cl^-$ : 100- 30,000ppm, $SO_4^-2$ : 20-10,000ppm),but the reasons are unclear. The presence of generally high concentrations of chlorine and sulfine the corrosion products of iron objects seem to be influenced by the marine climatic condition. The presence of high chlorine and sulfine concentrations in the corrosion products of iron objects seem to be influenced by the marine burial environments.

Catalytic Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide on Pt and $SnO_2$ (Pt 및 $SnO_2$ 촉매하에서의 일산화탄소의 산화반응)

  • Oxidation reactions of carbon monoxide on $SnO_2$, Sb-doped $SnO_2$, and Pt catalyst were studied. The oxidation reaction was found to be first order with respect to both CO and O$_2$ on $SnO_2$ and Sb-doped $SnO_2$ catalysts, and to be of half order on Pt catalyst. A small addition of Sb to $SnO_2$ (depant composition: 0.05∼0.1 mol %) increased the rate of oxidation. On the contrary, a large addition decreased the rate. From the rate expression of oxidation on Pt catalyst, the inhibition effect of carbon monoxide on the rate of oxidation was deduced. The experimentally obtained activatio energies were 5.7 kcal for the Sb doped $SnO_2$ catalyst (dopant composion: 0.05 mole%), and 6.4 kcal for the Pt catalyst. A possible reaction mechanism was proposed from the experimentally obtained kinetic data.

Anti-Helicobacter pylori Activity of Korean Propolis (국산 프로폴리스의 Helicobacter pyrori 억제효과)

  • Propolis possesses antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anaesthetic and immunostimulating activities. The aim of this study was to evaluated chemical composition and in vitro anti-Helicobacter pylori activity of eight propolis ethanolic extracts form different region in Korea. The chemical composition of eight Korean propolis was investicated by absorption spectrophotomety and UHPLC. Total penolic and total flavonoids content ranged between $21{\pm}1.5$ and $31{\pm}1.8$ gallic acid g/100 g and $7.2{\pm}0.9$ and $24.4{\pm}1.9$ quercetin g/100 g, respectively. The p-coumaric acid as standard components content ranged between $0.29{\pm}0.00$ and $2.34{\pm}0.02mg/g$ using UHPLC. Cinnamic acid content between $0.43{\pm}0.00$ and $1.33{\pm}0.01mg/g$. 80% ethanolic extract of propolis against H. pylori was evaluated by using the disc diffusion method. Ethanol was used as a control. Mean diameters of H. pylori growth inhibition using $10{\mu}g/mL$, $50{\mu}g/mL$ or $100{\mu}g/mL$ ethanol propolis per disc were 0, ranging from 0.9 to 2.1 mm and from 1.9 to 3.5 mm, respectively. In conclusion, variation in the chemical composition of Korean propolis were mainly due to the difference in the preferred regional plants visited by honeybees. Also Korean propolis possesses considerable antibacterial activity against H. pylori. There was not confirmed a correlation between the chemical composion contens and anti-H. pylori effect. The potential of propolis in the prevention or treatment of H. pylori infection is worth further extensive evaluation.

Seasonal Changes of Chemical Compositions in Leaves, Shoot and Berries of ‘Delaware’Seedless Grapes induced by Gibberellic Acid (Delaware 포도의 무핵재배에서 엽${\cdot}$신초${\cdot}$과립의 생장 및 성숙에 따른 화학성분의 변화)

  • This study was carried out to clarify seasonal changes of chemical compositions and their interrelation in leaves, shoots and berries treated with gibberellin($GA$_{3}$)for seedless grapes in ‘Delaware’grapevines. the clusters were dipped twice with 100ppm $GA_{3}$: 10 days befor and after the full bloom. The reaults obtained as follows; 1. Cumulative growth curve of berry fresh weight showed a double sigmoid curve and the characteristics of three distinctive growth stages(I, II, III)were weekened with $GA_{3}$ treatment. 2. while the contents of ash, total carbon, total nitrogen and total carbohydratd had little reation with edvelopment and ripeness of berries, those of total sugar and starch jad close relation, viz., they decreased with enlargement and maturity fo berries, but increased rapidly after harvest in leaves and shoots. Especially, total sugars in leaves and shoots decreased coincidently with starch-increasing in shoots at November. 3. The contents of total soluble solid and reducing sugar in berries increased rapidly at growth stage III, but those of total titratable acidity and organic acid decreased coincidently with sugar-increasing. 4. The berry-hardness increased until growth stage I, and then stagnated until gtowth stage II, and then increased rapidly at growth stage III. pH of berry-juice decreased until growth stageII, afterwards increased at growth stage III. 5. By correlation and path coefficient analysis between qualitative characters and the ratio of total soluble solid to titratable acidity($^{\circ}$Brix/Acidity), total correlation coefficients were all highly significant. Of these characters, pH and viscosity of berry-juice were positive, but brightness and hardness of berry, negative. The direct effect of pH on $^{\circ}$Brix/Acidity ratio, p4y=0.9090, was large positively and those of berry-hardness and juice-viscosity, p1y=0, 5938, median and, p2y=0, 3550, small, respectively. Direct effect of brightness was negatively small.
