  • It is very signigicant to study a dominant drift of the contemporary formative art. And it's research not only gives us a great pleasure of study but also will be a big help for designers to study how the dominant drift of the contemporary art has developed thereafter, and what it has influenced upon the following formative movement of it. In this sense I think I cannot emphasize it too strong that I gave a subtitle 'Especially analyzed in War and Peace' do my paper because we can find a real aspect of the formative movement rather by sociological point of view than by formative art itself. In this sense, 1 selected Art Deoo as a thesis of research among other things because Art Deco developed socially in respond to general pressure to adapt to modem World, specially, was a stage in an already burgeoning revolution in the decorative arts. Through this sociological point of view on Art Deco I found lots of things worthwhile to research it Art Deco, which I think shows us a special aspect of the sandwich culture between both world wars in Europe, played the important role of a bridge likning its peculiar style with those of contemporary arts in Europe. In this paper the sociological research of Art Deco style will reveal what the European's emotions meant in the socio-psychological circumstances of Deco between both world wars, and where the peculiarity of Art Deco style came from, and especially why the colors of Art Deco was so gorgeous as called 'color for color's sake'. I tried to put the importance of research of Art Deco largely on the sociological or socio-psychological points of view not on the only formative viewpoints. I could draw a conclusion that Art Deco has a contradictive duplicity in its style that can be expressible in a word like 'naivety in gorgeousness, simplicity in complexity, orderliness in confusion, and peacefulness in noisiness'.

Anthropometric Measurement for the Nipple Areola Complex (한국 여성의 유두유륜 복합체의 생체계측학적 통계)

  • Purpose: Although the demand for the mammoplasty including reduction or reconstruction is remarkably increasing, the anthropometric measurement for the breast, especially about the nipple areola complex(NAC) of Korean women has not been reported recently. Therefore, the anthropometric measurement about the NAC was performed to suggest the standard size of NAC for Korean women. Methods: Two hundred and twenty five female volunteers in 20's through 50's were included for the study. Questionnaires including the diameter of NAC, the diameter, height of nipple, age, marital status, delivery and lactation history were distributed to the volunteers and collected. Results: The mean values of our study are as follows: the areola diameter is $30.93{\pm}10.07mm$, the nipple diameter is $10.21{\pm}4.14mm$ and the height of nipple is $6.54{\pm}3.74mm$. The diameter of nipple areola complex(NAC) is bigger in old ages. If the volunteers have the history of marriage, delivery and lactation, it is bigger, as well. The height of nipple closely related to individual characters except the correlation between height of nipple and age. Conclusion: It is important to have standard data for the nipple areola complex in order to have good aesthetic results of mammoplasty. Despite the importance, there are a few measurement data for the nipple areola complex(NAC) of Korean women. The result of our study is not the absolute parameter for breast surgery, however it can be used as the standard size for NAC in the Korean female during breast surgery.

A study on the origin and the images of violet (보라색의 유래 및 이미지의 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide and suggest useful data in use of kinds of violet that is resulted from general color images of violet. The origin, history, and general images of kinds of violet were studied, and were classified vased on documcntary reviews. Findings are as follows: 1) The kinds of violet were used purple, violet, mauva, and magenta in the order of appearance of its color names and the categories of violet had been extended from dark reddish violet to affilicated colors of bright violet by development in synthetie dyestuff. 2) The kinds of violet has neutral characters due to the combination of two extreme colors, red and blue, and thereby revealing voth attreibutes in terms of symbolic, emotional, and spychological features of colors. The positive images in kinds of violet can be classified as nobleness, holiness, mysteriousness, sleep/sedation, sensuality, femininity, fragrance, and the negatibely classified images are weakness, sadness, maelancholiness, death(for example, the mourner's gard in royal families), symbols of moral corruption, and superstition.

  • The Bauhaus movement can be said to be the by-product of forming work pursued through the method of constituents even under endless discord between the so-called modern ages and anti-modern ages rather than to say that it was progressed consistently on the assumption of a design. Accordingly, all instruments of Bauhaus education which contributed to form the source of the modern ages realized educational value related to the actual problem at the point of time when the student evercomes all internal and production can be managed most effectively under one system was originated inevitably. The most exential point of the work of Bauhaus workshop is the fact that all products show homogeneity as time passes, which is appeared as the result of the spirit of consciously developed community based on cooperation between various characters and personalities. Also, the homogeneity does not exist in formative detailed aspect appeared externally but in the basis of effort having produced things simply and faithfully, and on the other hand, in accordance with essential rule. Therefore, the original form of Bauhaus products can be said not to be fashionable but the crystal of work process at the workshop through much thought and contemplation in view of endowed form following art, technology and economy.

A New Streptothricin Family Antibiotic Producing Streptomyces Spp. Snus 8810-111 ; Characterization of The Producing Organisms, Fermentation, Isolation, and Structure Elucidation of Antibioitics

  • A new streptothricin family antibiotic producing Streptomyces spp. SNUS 8810-111 was isolated from a soil sample. Study of its morphological and physiological characters indicated that the antibiotic producing organism was a Streptomyces spp. Taxonomical studies suggested that the organism might belong to the genus streptomyces gougeroti. The organism produced antibiotics most in calcium carbonate-tryptic soy broth. The active principles were recovered from the broth with a cation exchange resin and eluted from the resin with HCI. Cellulose column chromatography gave two active principles.$^1H-^1H$ Homo-COSY study on the first compound revealed four structural components. Total hydrolysis of the antibiotic with HCI allowed isolation of $\beta-lysine$. From these data the antibiotic was found to be streptothricin D. The other compound showed one additional signal in the .$^1H$NMR and the $^{13}C$ NMR spectra. The signal was from a methyl group attached to a nitrogen atom. Comparison of the NMR signals with those of streptothricin D suggested that the compound was N-methyl-streptothricin D which was a new compound in the family of streptothricin antibiotics.

  • As a virtual identity on the virtual space, Avata is expressed in the various graphic forms such as 2D and 3D. Avata is not just combination of characters, but it also reveals the cultural Avitus of the times or the society, which often represents the discrimination according to the generation or social stratum or the unconscious choice of popular culture The modern days are absolutely influenced by the popular culture. And, it is also the case in the virtual space as well as the real world, influencing the fashion trend, cultural taste, and even the behavioral pattern of individuals. Hereupon, through an analysis of cases of using Avata character graphic, we are going to look into the technical ways of expressing Avata and the overall pop culture trend and individual life pattern and taste which are shown in the choice of outfit, necessaries, and background. And, we will also find out the kitsch characteristics in the consumption of Avata. And, we also expect that the image of Avata would be developing into a positive identity demonstrating one's existence on the virtual space, not simply a meaningless choice and combination of image in expressing and consuming Avata.

  • Lucie Rie as an individual ceramist in terms of contemporary meaning was influenced by early 20th century's academic education and the ideology of modern formative arts. Modernity in her ceramic works has had a dramatic exert on numerous potters. Also, she is highly required to be studied in the history of modern pottery as a potter who took the initiative of studio pottery by the individual artistic handicraft.   • The existing market patterns and social structures have been changed according to the trends of digital and informational society of the 21st century. The characteristics of the consumption market is that the balance of power moves from enterprises to consumers. As consumers’ demands are diversified according to life quality enhancement, many products are based on main aspects of human experiences, emotions and values. Standardized functions and services of products cannot capture consumers to a great extent any more. A notable aspect is that consumers want products or services that can oner movable experiences. Future products must appeal to emotion, not to reason of consumers. Now consumers purchase styles, experiences and stories contained in products, not products themselves. That is, the key to decision to purchase products is the satisfaction of emotional values. Users'emotions diversified due to the development of industrial designs demand the development of new designs that can represent new trends of users. User-centered values imply the change of people's purchasing trends. This indicates that there is a need to change physical aspects such as price or functions into individual emotions and characters. In addition, studies are required on design concepts to pursue new emotional values, apart from functional type designs. It is time for designers to suggest initiative and rational directions for this changing era.

  • For Bauhaus, the vaious typography experiments developed around the printing workshops, and it was only in the later Weimar Period that L. Moooly-Nagy, who came to be in charge of the rxinting workshops, approached it from the functional way of thinking and demanded print type reforms Using this as the basis, a new form of typograph called "typophoto" was developed by combining images and characters together using photography techniques and Bauhaus Unification Chaacter producyion. Harbert Bayer, striving at molds based on the ideologies of L. Moody-Nagy, prepared the framework for modern informational advertisements by producing a variety of advertisements based on several law of psychology and physiology. Bayer's successor, Joost Schmidt focused on lettering based on functionalism and typographic training and practice, while pioneering in the new area of display design wiwh efficient usage of space for exhibitions a1d dsplays. Thus, despite being carried doWl by the same leader in the sane era, the series of typographic experiments undertaken by the artists Bauhaus present guidelines to the direction modern visual communication must take through creativity and insight into the upcoming future that is not contained within the boundaries of traditions and customs.and customs.

A Study on the Aesthetic Motive in e-Card Design (e카드 디자인의 미적 동인에 대한 연구)

  • With increase of internet users, usage frequency of e-mail card is growing up. In addition to advantage of delivering message in real-time, e-mail card contains words, animation and sound. So users can enjoy it's multiple characters. For these reasons, there is a shift in preference from traditional card to e-mail card especially in young age. In character portal sites sewing users with e-mail card it is regarded as useful media for character promotion. After bizarre rabbit 'Mashimaro' wins a great success as Flash animation, Flash card has been treated as an important media in character business. As the study on the aesthetic motive in Flash card, this thesis analyzes what is the meaning existing in characteristic expression of Flash card and proposes that the meaning is related to tension reduction from the viewpoint of entropy principle. We can summarize that contents of animation are based on striving toward simplicity and expressions of animation are based on catabolism. Both lead to pleasure of tension reduction. We can draw conclusion that pleasure of tension reduction becomes one of major factors of the aesthetic motive felt in Flash card.
