Dynamic Characteristic Analysis of 3-Level Half-bridge SSSC (3-레벨 반브리지로 구성된 SSSC의 동특성 분석)

  • This paper proposes an SSSC based on 3-level half-bridge inverters. The dynamic characteristic of the proposed SSSC was analyzed by EMTP simulation, assuming that the SSSC is inserted in the transmission line of the one-machine-infinite-bus power system. The proposed SSSC has six 3-level half-bridge inverters per phase, which operates in PWM mode. The proposed SSSC generates a quasi-sinusoidal output voltage by 90 degree phase shift to the line current. The proposed SSSC does not require the coupling transformer for voltage injection, and has a flexibility in operation voltage by increasing the number of series connection.

  • This paper analyses the operation characteristic of distance relay when the single line to ground occurs in underground power cable systems that reduction device of sheath circulating current is installed. To apply that reduction device to actual system, the change of line impedance calculated at relay point is also analysed by the connection type of SVLs and fault location, fault inception angle with the installation of reduction device of reactor or not.

  • This paper proposes an SSSC based on multi-bridge inverters. The dynamic characteristic of the proposed SSSC was analyzed by EMTP simulation and a scaled handware model, assuming that the SSSC is inserted in the transmission line of the one-machine-infinite-bus power system. The proposed SSSC has 6 multi-bridge inverters per phase, which generates 13 pulses for each half period of power frequency. The proposed SSSC generates a quasi-simusoidal output voltage by 90 degree phase shift to the line current The proposed SSSC does not require the coupling transformer for voltage injection, and has a flexibility in operation voltage by increasing the number of series connection.

  • In this paper, we presented the experimental basis for the theoretical background and robustness of the Convolutional Neural Network for object recognition based on artificial intelligence. An experimental result was performed to visualize the weighting filters and feature maps for each layer to determine what characteristics CNN is automatically generating. experimental results were presented on the trend of learning error and identification error rate by checking the relevance of the weight filter and feature map for learning error and identification error. The weighting filter and characteristic map are presented as experimental results. The automatically generated characteristic quantities presented the results of error rates for moving and rotating robustness to geometric changes.

  • A steel frame is one of the most commonly used structural systems due to its resistance to various types of applied loads. Many studies have been conducted to investigate the effects of several parameters, such as connection flexibility, the boundary condition of each support, and beam-to-column stiffness ratio, on the characteristic behavior of a frame. Based on the results of these studies, several design methods have been proposed. This research focused on the number of bolts on the rotational stiffness of a double-angle connection, and its effect on the story drift of a frame. To achieve these purposes, a simplified analytical model was proposed. Several experimental tests were also conducted to obtain the rotational connection stiffness of each double-angle connection.

  • The handoff is a distinctive characteristic of the mobile networks. In the CDMA systems, if base stations support multiple Frequency Assignment (FA), they provide both soft handoff and hard handoff. Under the CDMA environments, the soft handoff guarantees the favorable service quality and the continuity of call connection without interruption, and increases the service capacity of the base stations. This paper proposes call connection control schemes with handoff queue for supporting efficient handoff processing. The proposed schemes are divided into two categories: single handoff queue scheme and multiple handoff queue scheme. We analyze the performance of the proposed call connection control schemes using numerical analysis. From the analysis results, we can say that it is more desirable to avoid hard handoff as long as handoff queues are used. When a single handoff queue used, adaptive scheme that properly mixes avoidable and avoidable hard handoff method under the given traffic condition is more desirable. In case that multiple handoff queues are used, the suitable trade-off needs to be developed between handoff blocking probability and hard handoff probability to guarantee a given blocking probability threshold.

  • HTB (hybrid truss bridge) steel truss webs instead of concrete webs in prestressed box girder bridges has been widely used in, because of its structural benefit such as relatively less self-weight and good aesthetics due to open web structure. Since the core technology of this bridge is the connection system between concrete slabs and steel truss members, several connection systems were proposed and experimentally evaluated. Also, the selected joint system was applied to the real bride design and construction. The researches were performed on the connection system, since it can affect the global behavior of this bridge such as flexural and fatigue behaviors as well as the local behavior around the connection region. The evaluation study showned that HTB applied to a curved bridge or a eccentric loading bridge, characteristic has a weak torsional capacity compared to an ordinary PSC box girder bridges due to the open structure of HTB. In this study, three box shaped hybrid truss specimens were made and the torsional test and evaluation for them were performed in order to find out the torsional behavior of HTB according to the connection system.

Design of Electromagnetic Actuator with Three-Link Mechanism for Air Circuit Breaker (기중 차단기용 전자석 조작기 및 3절 링크 설계)

  • In this paper, an electromagnetic force driving actuator (EMFA) and three-link mechanism are proposed as a driving mechanism and connection device for low voltage air circuit breaker (ACB). As the result of dynamic characteristic analysis, the actuator and link mechanism are designed from the simulation and manufactured. The magneitc field of the EMFA is analyzed using the finite element method (FEM). The dynamic characteristic analysis with calculation of the circuit equation and kinetical equation is performed by the time difference method (TDM). Also, the result of the analysis is verified through the experiment of the fabrication model. In this paper, the EMFA size is smaller than the actuator for high voltage circuit breaker. Thus, the dynamic characteristic is analyzed with end-winding inductance that is calculated by the same method which is applied on the circle type end-winding of motors. The designed model for 1600 ampere-frame ACB and the three-link mechanism for connecting contact part with actuating part are manufactured. It is confirmed that the three-link mechanism is possible for improving the circuit breaker efficiency and reducing the size of the EMFA. It is proved that the improved 2-D analysis is more accurate than established method.

A Study on the Characteristic of Site Planning of Hadrian's Villa (하드리안 별장에서의 배치계획의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study on the characteristic of site planning of Hadrian's villa. The whole site planning of Hadrian's villa can be divided by different characteristic four groups(I-IV). It is analysed to the whole site plan of such huge complex and the site planning of partial each group which is organically connected each other. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Hadrian's villa was arranged in adapt to natural condition according to a gentle inclination by topography and terrain of the whole site which many different buildings are oriented towards natural landscape of the site and the site surroundings. 2. The site planning of Hadrian's villa is composed of dividing into four groups as plan segmentalized through various land use plan, considering for territory of functional aspect and direction of axis formed by situation and direction of topography and terrain. 3. The concept of site planning to buildings of Hadrian's villa is composed through each other connection; the first, meeting, crossing and merging with each other from arrangement by several axises, the second, change of direction with as the center a part of corner of buildings and the third, facing or inserting system to side and side, side and a part of corner of building.

Traffic Delay Guarantee using Deterministic Service in Multimedia Communication (멀티미디어 통신에서 결정론적 서비스를 이용한 트래픽 지연 보장)

  • The real multimedia application in wide area communication needs the guaranteed performance of communication service. Therefore, the resource is reserved at the moment of traffic burst and the region of connection admission possibility is widened at the basis of maximum cell rate. This of study shows that the end-to-end traffic delay to the traffic of burst state is guaranteed when the total of maximum transmission rate is higher than link speed by using the region of deterministic delay. The network load rate of connection admission can be improved by the inducement of delay bounds consideration each traffic characteristic to guarantee the end-to-end delay of network from single switch. This suggested buffering system using deterministic service do not give any influence to service quality and can guarantee the bounds of end-to-end delay. And it can also reduce the load of network even if the delay is increased according to the burst traffic characteristic. The above suggested system can be applied effectively to the various kinds of general network specification which admit both real time trafnc service and non-real time traffic service.
