  • This thesis is a study on the creation of characters of "personality actors and character actors" among the concepts of "star persona" of S. Prince. This study selected 7 representative films of Jung Woo-sung, a representative personality actor in the Korean film industry, and analyzed how 'Jung Woo-sung-character' is embodied in the film as a character component suggested by R. Dyer. In the traditional sense, the actor's acting has been highly valued for transformation and impersonation in character creation, but discussing the method of creating a character focusing only on the actor's acting in a movie acting implemented in combination with advanced technology I don't think it's suitable for movie acting research. Theorists such as R.Dyer and Edgar Morin, who studied film actors and stars, also emphasize that 'movie actors are different from theater actors' (by the film medium). Therefore, in this thesis, a detailed analysis of the acting of a personality actor was avoided. As Morin pointed out that the character in the movie can be implemented through the actor's image and type, not playing the type of role. I tried to propose the significance of this character creation method of the personality actor by analyzing actor Jung Woo-sung and his character.

  • The present thesis is a study about a character actor's characterization from the concept of 'star persona'. Conducted in 2020, this is a follow-up study about a personality actor's characterization. Lee Sung-min was selected due to his wide acting spectrum among domestic actors and his brilliant expression of differing characters as a character actor. The study discusses characterization methods for character actors on the basis of his role of high-ranking North Korean bureaucrat 'Ri Myung-un' in the film 'The Spy Gone North'. Stanislavski claimed that character building or characterization was the pinnacle of the acting art. However, such an expression of personality requires hard work and devotion from an actor. The actor Lee Sung-min practiced the North Korean dialect in order to act the role, and added the way the elite speak in North Korea to this dialect. He achieves a style of acting that raises tensions within the drama by spitting out lines in one breath and by making the audience fixate their gaze within character solo shots for which the character's emotions and lines serve as the core, with the purpose of maximizing dramatic tension and situational reality. Continuity and angle also serve extremely important roles in terms of expressing a character's personality development, affect, and emotions. The present thesis discussed the character development methods for a character actor's role of 'Ri Myung-un' in the film 'The Spy Gone North'.

  • There is much confusion with the relationship between character and actor. Under the pressure of 'becoming' a character, the actor tends to begin his work apart from his own senses, imagination and memory, and is most likely to fall into the trap of artificiality and clich$\acute{e}$. Like every other art, the actor has to begin honestly with himself who, in nature, has unfathomable possibilities. To be and live as a character, the actor has to experience. To experience, to react. To react, to see with all the senses. Like ours, each character's life goes on from reaction to reaction, reacting to the images from the imagination and the memory. "You are what you see." The actor is put into the extremely unfamiliar circumstances of drama, given only with his own senses, imagination and memory. Fear comes in. However, fear cannot stop the actor's challenging journey to self-discoveries. The actor does and acts, not because he is certain but because he is not. The actor challenges himself to go beyond the limit and uncertainty, so that he will finally come to know and truly understand human beings from the challenges of his own. In a nutshell, acting is a journey to the unknown and the unfamiliar in which the actor unceasingly discover new 'I's.

  • In this study, the theoretical principle and structural practice of Estill Voice Training model that enables independent control of voice organs in the actor's acting art using voice as a medium of artistic expression. Its purpose is to explore the positive utility that can be applied to operation. The research on the speech science methodology that controls the differences in speech output due to the principle of the generation organ is a reality that has not been actively introduced in Korea compared to the existing actor's speech training that encompasses both the mind and the body. Voice can guarantee the accuracy and stability of operation when an understanding of our body is preceded based on anatomical physiology as well as contribute to the characterization of the character's phonetic character an element of character creation. Considering the training model through proprioception in actor voice training has practical value and alternative significance that the actor can be sought as a principle and practical methodology in the process of generating a series of target sounds.

  • It seems like that the main stream of animation for theaters transferred from cells to 30 animations. It can be easily seen if current situation is compared to the time when al! works were Cell animations. Although earlier papers were mostly about studies on Cell animation works, future studies will publish papers related to 30. Accordingly, this study studied the association of the researcher's paper with 30 works while It had been applied to 20. Then, based on the data, this study analyzed how major/supporting characters were transformed to animation characters in the scenes that were animated at the beginning and end of film that were reieased in 2007. This result was compared with the character made using a voice actor in the Pixar's long piece of animation for theater that had been already screened. The data were made into values to some extent in an attempt to increase satisfaction in the result of analysis comparing the character with the voice actor. When making characters using actual persons, it is hoped that grasping the modeling factors of the images making 20/30 characters as indicated in this study will be helpful in producing animation characters.

  • The purpose of this study is to research development process of commedia dell'arte and Korean masque that have similar figure, grasp similarity and difference and find the meaning of masque and costume in both theatrical arts. Italian commedia dell'arte and Korean masque are performed by wearing standardized mask and costume depending on the role. As common points, first, the characters have unique names and possess unique features of character, costumes, masks and playing styles. Through the feature, the audiences can understand role of actor and the actors can devote themselves to their role by wearing masks and costumes. Second, although background plays an important role in commedia dell'arte, the role of costume is more important. Because masque speaks for poverties of general people indirectly, the costumes of general people were used as they are. As different point, first, most of Korean masks cover entire face, restricting speech of actor but masks of commedia dell'arte cover only upper part of face and expos mouth and chin of actor, enabling actors to express various emotions depending on the character. Second, priority is given to personality of actor and origin area and current silhouette, material and color that changed by century is reflected in the costume of commedia dell'arte but silhouette, material and color of the Age of Joseon Dynasty were adopted in Korean masque.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the psychological changes and influences of child actors depending on their role. First, we met the film producer of Dogani and discussed about the filming condition. Second, we visited filming locations during the filming of Neighborhood, when shooting of parts involving the female child actor was taking place and evaluated the emotional states of the child actor before and after she played her role. Third, we interviewed various people of the movie industry, which included adult actors, directors, a professor of films and broadcasting who was a former child actor and a scriptwriter. In case of the film Dogani, the production crew provided enough care and protection and we concluded that child actors had no psychological sequelae. After interviewing the child actor and visiting filming locations, we confirmed that the child actor was not influenced by playing certain roles. In addition, after interviewing various people related to filming, we thought that child actors might not have psychological sequelae related to the character played. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study about influences of the playing character for child actors. We concluded that playing certain roles would not have negative effects on child actors.

  • This study was performed to explore the institutional treatment system by analyzing the pattern of musical actor's projection and aftereffect subsequent to the completion of performance. In-depth interviews were conducted with 22 top-class musical actors and actresses of the Republic of Korea. The result of the survey indicated that most actors and actresses suffer from projection and it's aftereffect such as depression for more than one month after performance, and that they tend to rely on self-healing based on self-diagnosis rather than seeking for professional counselling. The symptoms of projection were shown more strongly when the actors or actresses were taking on the role of main character, or acting as a negative or realistic character, or when expressing strong and extreme emotions. In this era of Korean culture, the result of this study implies that our country have to establish the actor's mental caring-related new law and private care centers supported enough funds to encourage the actors to receive more effective actor-friendly treatment service before and after the performance.

  • Park Jung-hoon started his acting career in movie since undergraduate year at Chungang University, Drama and Cinema school, and till now he is a very active and nationally beloved actor in Korea. However, to this day there isn't any study about him, so this study might be the right time to take a look at his acting style again. This report will find and review his distinctive patterns in acting, and roughly assess the character expression from character, Dong-chul, in the movie, My Dear Desperado; which has been evaluated as the best movie to show the inner side of character. His acting pattern is segmented by 3 parts; Park Jung-hoon style comical acting, expression of macho side of masculinity, and subtle inner emotion expression acting. Then his acting technique is analyzed from character Dong-chul in the movie, My Dear Desperado, which he acted out change in character from low-class nonsense gangster to a good-hearted man flawlessly.
