Energy Efficiency Modelling and Analyzing Based on Multi-cell and Multi-antenna Cellular Networks

  • In this paper, the relationship between the energy efficiency and spectrum efficiency in a two-cell cellular network is obtained, and the impact of multi-antenna on the energy efficiency of cellular network is analyzed and modeled based on two-state Markovian wireless channels. Then, the energy efficiency of multi-cell cellular networks with co-channel interference is investigated. Simulation results verify the proposed model and the energy-spectrum efficiency tradeoffs in cellular networks with multi-antenna and co-channel interference.

  • In MC-CDMA systems effects of delay spread of the channel are reduced with increased symbol duration by simultaneously transmitting data symbols on the parallel subcarriers. However, the increased symbol duration causes the system to be more vulnerable to time selective fading. In this paper, we investigate the effects of time selective fading characteristics of the mobile channel from the viewpoint of desired signal power to inter-carrier interference power ratio at the combiner output of the MC-CDMA receiver.

  • In this paper we propose an efficient implementation technique for cyclic extension in VDSL(Very High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) systems using Zipper duplexing and analyze its performances under typical telephone channel environments. In Zipper-based VDSL systems each DTM(discrete-multitone) block is appended by both cyclic prefix(CP) and cyclic suffix(CS). The CP is inserte to prevent both intersymbol interference (ISI) and iterchannel interference (ICI) while the CS is appended to ensure orthogonality between the upstream and downstream carriers thus preventing near-end crosstalk (NEXT). However in order to implement the CP in the transmitter side of the VDSL system an additional hardware is required to append the latter part of each DMT symbol to the beginning of the DMT symbol. In this paper we propose a VDSL system with Zipper duplexing using only CS to reduce hardware complexity (memory and processing delay) required for implementation of CP. It is shown by computer simulation that the proposed approach has the same capacity under typical channel environments as the previous Zipper-based VDSL system using both CP and CS. even with a significantly lower hardware complexity.

  • This paper proposes a multiuse detection system in a multi-cell M-ary Frequency Shift Keying(MFSK)/frequency hopping(FH)-Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) environment, in which the channel model is an OR-channel and in the reverse link. We have proposed a multiuse detection system in a single cell. However, this sitye is not adequate to detect multiuser in a multi-cell environment. Therefore, we propose a multiuser detection system based on 3 level OR decision with two threholds. The proposed detection system can delete interference as well as intra-cell interference, receive the weakened desired signal and reject the false alarm. computer simulation shows the performance improvement.

  • In this paper, We applied CCI canceller to remove multi-user interference in co-channel environment and improved performance of TH PPM UWB-IR system. As a result, We could get reception performance that data transmission of high speed is available in small reception power applying CCI canceller. Also, We could get permission available channel capacity to maximum access number 40 in high speed transmission environment more than 100Mbps.

  • In this paper, error performance of DS-CDMA communication system has been analyzed in a radio channel which is characterized by multi-user interference (MUI). Also, performance improvement has been obtained by both numerical analysis and simulation techniques when 3-element array antenna and co-channel interference (CCI) canceller are employed as a means for overcoming an MUI effect. The MUI was modelled as a gaussian random process. In array antenna scheme we only considered a directivity of antennal. The results show that there is a substantial enhancement in performance by employing an array antenna or a CCI canceller. CCI canceller gives better improvement in performance than the array antenna with D=2.67. Additional improvement can be obtained when the array antenna and the CCI canceller are adopted in cascade form. In this case the error performance approaches that of AWGN environment.

  • In this paper, we proposed a complex multirate filter bank(CMRFB) based adaptive notch filtering technique to solve the co-existence narrowband interference problem of DS-CDMA and TDMA systems. We have discussed error performance of co-existence of DS-CDMA and TDMA system by using complex multirate filter bank in land mobile channel and computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme can eliminate the narrowband interference(TDMA signals) effectively.

  • The study on the chip waveform design to minimize multiple-access interference (MAI) and its performance evaluation are very important since chip waveform decides the signal quality and system capacity of the direct-sequence CDMA wireless communication system. This paper suggests the analytical chip waveform to minimize the MAI. The BER and throughput performances achieved by the proposed analytical optimum chip waveform are compared with those of the conventional chip waveforms in the Nakagami-m distribution frequency selective channel when the differential phase shift keying (DPSK) is employed in DS-CDMA system. From the numerical results, capacity and throughput are improved about 2 times and 1.4 times respectively when it is compared with the Kaiser chip waveform that is considered as one of the best in the conventional ones.

  • 본 논문에서는 Multi-Carrier CDMA 시스템 성능 열화의 주요 원인인 다중 접속 간섭 (MUI : Multi-User Interference)이 존재하는 이동 통신 채널 환경에서 MU 제거를 위한 성능 개선 기법으로 동일 채널 간섭 제거기를 적용하여 성능 개선 정도를 평가하였다. 성능 해석 결과, 동일 채널 간섭 제거기를 적용함에 의해 BER 성능이 매우 개선되며, 특히 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ 값을 높일수록 성능 개선 효과가 현저히 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 예를 들어 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ =12 dB로 데이터 서비스 (BER = $10^{-5}$)를 지원하고자 하는 경우, 동일 채널 간섭 제거기를 사용하지 않으면 4명의 사용자밖에 지원할 수 없지만, 동일 채널 간섭 제거기를 사용하면 약 30명의 사용자까지 지원할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ 를 고정시키고 동일 채널 간섭 제거기를 적용하면 BER면에서 약 5$\times$$10^{-3}$ 정도의 성능 개선 효과가 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

  • In Korea, transition to digital TV broadcasting started at the metropolitan Seoul area and has expanded to the metropolitan area in 2004. However, until 2010 analog NTSC broadcasting will co-exist with digital TV. In this situation, digital TV may have the same channel as an analog NTSC broadcasting. To remove the effect of the analog NTSC intereference, DTV receivers adopt an NTSC rejection filter. In this paper, analysis on properties of the filter, such as a rejection property and noise performance degradation, is presented.
