Chitosan이 마우스의 정상 및 cyclophosphamide로 억제된 일차 체액성 면역반응에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Chitosan on the Normal and Cyclophosphamide-suppressed Primary Humoral Immune Response in Mice)

  • In order to investigate the effects of chitosan on the normal and cyclophosphamide (CY)-suppressed primary humoral immune response in mice, chitosan was orally administered alone (single dose of 62.5, 250 mg/kg) or with CY (20 mg/kg, i.p.) to female ICR mice on the 2nd day before or after immunization with SRBC-antigen. When chitosan alone was administered before antigenic challenge, splenic IgM plaque forming cells (PFC) and splenic cellularity were slightly increased and serum IgM was not changed when compared with control group. However, chitosan significantly enhanced PFC, serum IgM and splenic cellularity when administered after antigenic challenge. The PFC numbers, serum IgM and splenic cellularity were significantly decreased by the treatment of CY, whereas those values were slightly increased by the concomitant treament of CY and chitosan when compared with CY alone-administration. These results indicate that chitosan is able to increase normal humoral immunity (HI) and to slightly inhibit the suppressive effects of CY on HI.

  • TETRA 시스템에서는 인가된 단말기만이 망에 접속하도록 하기 위해 단말기 인증 서비스를 제공한다. 단말기 인증이란 Challenge-response 프로토콜에 의해 단말기와 인증센터에 사전에 공유된 인증키가 일치하는지를 확인하는 과정이다. 본 논문에서는 TETRA 인증 시스템에서 인증키 생성/분배/주입 모델을 분석하고, 인증키의 노출로 인한 복제단말기의 위협을 분석한다.

Effects of aqueous extract isolated from Platycodon grandiflorum against oxidative stress in rat primary hepatocytes

  • Herbal medicines are increasingly being utilized to treat a wide variety of disease processes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of aqueous extract from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC (Campanulaceae). Changkil (CK). to affect cellular response in primary cultures of rat hepatocytes to t-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP) induced oxidative stress and hepatotoxicity. CK-treated cells showed an increased resistance to oxidative challenge. as revealed by a higher percent of survival capacity in respect to control cells. CK added prior or simultaneously with I-BHP reduced enganced lipid peroxidation measured as production of malondialdehyde and enhnaced intracellular reduced glutathinoe depletion by t-BHP. Furhtermore. CK protected from the t-BHP-induced intracellular generation of reactive oxygen species assessde by montioting dichlorodihydrofluorescein fluorescence. it can be concluded that CK exerts an antioxidant action insice the cell. responsible for the abserved modulation of the cellular response to oxidative challenge. and CK have a marked anitioxdative and hepatoprotective potency.

안전하고 효율적인 신원확인을 위한 암호기반 시스템 (The Password base System for the safe and Efficient Identification)

  • 사용자 고유번호와 패스워드 기반의 사용자 인증 매커니즘을 수행하는 네트워크 시스템 환경에서는 스니퍼 프로그램 등을 이용하여 불법 도청함으로써 쉽게 사용자의 패스워드를 알아낼 수 있다. 이러한 불법적인 도청에 의한 패스워드 노출 문제를 해결하는 방법으로 일회용 패스워드, Challenge-Response 인증 방식이 유용하게 사용되며, 클라이언트/서버 환경에서는 별도 동기가 필요 없는 시간을 이용한 일회용 패스워드 방식이 특히 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 안전성은 Square root problem에 기초를 두고 있고, 프리플레이 공격, 오프라인 사전적 공격 그리고 서버 등을 포함하여 지금까지 잘 알려진 공격(해킹)들에 대해서 안전성을 높이기 위한 암호기반 시스템을 제안한다. 암호기반 시스템 확인은 패스워드를 생성하는데 특별한 키를 생성할 필요가 없다는 것이다. 암호기반 시스템은 검증자를 확인하는데 걸리는 시간이 적게 소요되면서 특출하다.

  • 일회용 암호는 한 번 사용하고 버리는 특성으로 인해 동일한 암호를 반복 사용하는 기존의 방법에 비해 훨씬 안전하다. 본 논문에서는 사용자들이 늘 휴대하고 다니는 휴대폰 상에서 동작하는 챌린지-응답(challenge-response) 방식의 일회용 암호 생성기를 제안한다. 이 암호 생성기는 추가의 인증 수단을 제공함으로써 PC 인터넷 뱅킹에서 계좌 이체 트랜잭션 명령을 내릴 때 사용할 수 있다. 현재 인터넷 뱅킹용으로 사용되는 별도의 일회용 암호 생성 장치는 30초 시간 동기화를 통해 계속 새로운 암호를 생성하기 때문에 동기화 주기 이내에는 여전히 중간자 공격의 가능성이 남아있다. 이에 비해 제안 방법은 정교한 챌린지-응답 방식을 통해 중간자 공격에 대비할 수 있고, 휴대성이 뛰어나며, 도난의 경우에도 더 안전하다. 또한 현재 쓰이는 장치와 마찬가지로, PC에 설치된 키보드 로거 등의 스파이웨어를 통해 공격 대상자의 모든 다른 인증 정보가 노출되더라도 제안 방법은 불법 이체 행위를 막을 수 있다.

Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum Cathepsin D: Molecular analysis and immune response against brown ring disease causing Vibrio tapetis challenge

  • Cathepsins are lysosomal/cysteine proteases belong to papain family (C1 family) that is involved in intracellular protein degradation, antigen processing, hormone maturation, and immune responses. In this study, member of cathepsin family was identified from Manila clam (Mc-Cathepsin D) and investigated the immune response against brown ring disease (BRD) causing Vibrio tapetis challenge. The identified Mc-Cathepsin D gene encodes characteristic features typical for the cathepsin family including eukaryotic and viral aspartyl protease signature domain and two highly conserved active sites ($^{84}VVFDTGSSNLWV^{95}$ and $^{270}IADTGTSLLAG^{281}$). Moreover, MC-Cathepsin D shows higher identity values (-50-70%) and conserved amino acids with known cathepsin D members. Transcriptional results (by quantitative real-time RT-PCR) showed that Mc-Cathepsin D was expressed at higher levels in gills and hemocytes than mantle, adductor muscle, foot, and siphon. After the V. tapetis challenge under laboratory conditions, Mc-Cathepsin D mRNA was up-regulated in gills and hemocytes. Present study indicates that Mc-Cathepsin D is constitutively expressed in different tissues and potentially inducible when infecting BRD by V. tapetis. It is further suggesting that Mc-Cathepsin D may be involved in multiple role including immune response reactions against BRD.

Protection Against Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Gallinarum, and Salmonella Enteritidis Infection in Layer Chickens Conferred by a Live Attenuated Salmonella Typhimurium Strain

  • In the present study, we investigated the protection conferred by a live attenuated Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (ST) strain against Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Gallinarum (SG), and Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) infection in layer chickens. Birds were orally primed with the attenuated ST strain at 7 days of age and then boosted at 4 weeks post prime immunization (PPI). Sequential monitoring of plasma IgG and mucosal secretory IgA (sIgA) levels revealed that inoculation with ST induced a significant antibody response to antigens against ST, SE, and SG. Moreover, significant lymphoproliferative responses to the 3 Salmonella serovars were observed in the immunized group. We also investigated protection against virulent ST, SE, and SG strain challenge. Upon virulent SG challenge, the immunized group showed significantly reduced mortality compared to the non-immunized group. The reduced persistence of the virulent ST and SE challenge strains in the liver, spleen, and cecal tissues of the immunized group suggests that immunization with the attenuated ST strain may not only protect against ST infection but can also confer cross protection against SE and SG infection.

저비용 RFID 인증을 위한 PUF 기반 암호화 프로세서와 상호 인증 프로토콜 설계 (Design of PUF-Based Encryption Processor and Mutual Authentication Protocol for Low-Cost RFID Authentication)

  • RFID 시스템은 무선 통신을 이용하여 운용되기 때문에 외부의 불법적인 공격에 노출되어 있으며 이에 대한 시스템 침해의 위험성이 높다. 이러한 공격들에 대한 보안 기법들 중 PUF 기반의 인증 기법이 존재한다. 그러나 기존의 PUF 기반 기법들은 해쉬나 AES 알고리즘을 함께 이용하기 때문에, 비용 및 성능적인 측면에서 저비용 RFID 태그에 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는, 저비용 RFID 인증을 위하여 PUF 기반 암호화 프로세서와 이를 이용한 상호 인증 프로토콜을 제안한다. PUF의 challenge-response 쌍들을 인증키로 활용하고, 이를 PUF의 특성을 이용하여 암호화함으로써 해쉬 및 AES 등의 알고리즘 사용을 배제하였다. 매 세션마다 변경되는 암호화 방법과 일회성 난수를 이용한 XOR 연산 기법을 활용함으로써 공격자의 challenge-response 쌍에 대한 분석을 차단하여 시스템 공격을 무력화 시킨다. 또한, PUF 특성으로 인하여 물리적 공격에 강하고 태그에 저장된 인증 데이터가 존재하지 않기 때문에 물리적 공격에 의한 태그 복제 위험을 방지한다. 제안된 PUF 기반의 암호화 프로세서는 저비용으로 구현되며 저면적 및 저전력의 특징을 갖는다.

Influences of dietary flavonoid (quercetin) supplementation on growth performance and immune response of growing pigs challenged with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of plant flavonoid (quercetin) on immune parameters, growth performance, and nutrient digestibility in growing pigs challenged with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS). A total of 40 crossbred ([Landrace × Yorkshire] × Duroc) growing pigs; initial body weight (BW) of 26.95 ± 1.26 kg were used in a six-week experimental trial. Pigs were randomly allocated into one of four treatment groups in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with the following factors; without LPS challenge and with LPS challenge (day 21) supplemented with or without 0.1% flavonoid according to BW (2 replicate pens per treatment with 2 gilts and 3 barrows per pen). The single-dose LPS (100 ug / kg BW) injection showed trends tended to be increased in interleukin-6 (IL-6) after 2 h and 6 h of challenge compared with unchallenged pigs. However, other measured immune indices (white blood cell, immunoglobulin G, lymphocyte, and tumor necrosis factor), growth performance, and nutrient digestibility were not significantly different between challenged and non-challenged animals. The supplementation of flavonoid significantly increased (p < 0.05) average daily gain (ADG) during day 0-21, tended to increase dry matter and nitrogen digestibility, significantly reduced IL-6, increased Ig-G and WBC concentrations and increased lymphocytes percentage regardless of LPS challenge.

산조인 추출물의 니코틴 민감화에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Zizyphus jujuba Extract on Nicotine Sensitization)

  • Repeated administration of all addictive drugs, including nicotine, can produce sensitization of extracellular dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens and behavioral sensitization in rat, as evidenced by an enhanced locomotor response and increased dopamine release in brain to a subsequent injection of the drug. In order to investigate the effect of Zizyphus jujuba extract on repeated nicotin-induced sensitization, rats were given repeated injection of saline or nicotine (0.4 mg/kg s.c., twice a day for 7 d), followed by one challenge injection on the 4th day after the last daily injection. Systemic challenge with nicotine (0.4 mg/kg s.c.) and a direct local challenge of 3 mM a larger increase in locomotor activity and extracellular dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens in nicotine-pretreated rats than in saline-pretreated rats, respectively. Zizyphus jujuba extract significantly decreases locomotor activitiy and dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens induced by a nicotine challenge. These results suggest that Zizyphus jujuba extract may attenuate nicotine-induced neurochemical and behavioral sensitization and may be effective in suppressing compulsive nicotine-seeking behavior.
