  • In this paper we propose an estimation method on the regression model with randomly censored observations of the training data set. The weighted least squares support vector machine regression is applied for the regression function estimation by incorporating the weights assessed upon each observation in the optimization problem. Numerical examples are given to show the performance of the proposed estimation method.

  • Multistate survival data with censoring often arise in biomedical experiments. In particular, a four-state space is used for cancer clinical trials. In a four-state space, each patient may either respond to a given treatment and then relapse or may progress without responding. In this four-state space, a model which combines the Markov and semi-Markov models is proposed. In this combined model, the generalized maximum likelihood estimators of the Markov and semi-Markov hazard functions are derived. These estimators are illustrated for the data collected in a study of treatments for advanced breast cancer.

  • In this paper we considered the problem of estimating the bivariate survival distribution of the random vector (X, Y) when Y may be subject to random censoring but X is always uncensored. Adapting conditional Koziol-Green model, simplified estimator for bivariate survival function is proposed. We perform simulation to compare the proposed estimator with popular estimators and discussed the performance of it.

  • The problem of trend change in the failure rate is great interest in the reliability and survival analysis. In this paper we develop a test statistic for testing whether or not the failure rate changes its trend using random censored data. The asymptotic normality of the test statistic is established. We discuss the efficiency values of loss due to censoring.

  • We consider a large class of exponential regression models with censored data and propose two modified Fisher scoring methods with corresponding algorithms. These proposed methods improve the Newton-Raphson method in estimating the model parameters. The simulated and real examples are illustrated in aspect of convergence.

  • This paper proposes a new nonparametric test for testing the null hypothesis that the MRL is constant against the alternative hypothesis that the MRL is decreasing (increasing) for ramdomly censored data. The proposed test statistic is a L-statistic, and we use L-statistic theory to establish its asymptotic normality of the test statistic. We discuss the efficiency loss due to censoring and also calculate the asymptotic relative efficiencies of our test statistic with respect to the Chen, Hollander and Langberg's test for several alternatives.

  • We consider the estimation of parameter in the exponential model in the case that the number of replacements of failed items is limited. And the desirable number of replacements to give the similar effect as unlimited case in terms of the mean square errors is proposed.

  • Heller and Simonoff(1990) compared several methods of estimating the regression coefficient in a modified proportional hazards model, when the response variable is subject to censoring. We give another method of estimating the parameters in the model which also allows the dependent variable to be censored and the error distribution to be unspecified. The proposed method differs from that of Miller(1976) and that of Buckely and James(1979). We also obtain the variance estimator of the coefficient estimator and compare that with the Buckely-James Variance estimator studied by Hillis(1993).
