  • We propose a subspace interference alignment by orthogonalization of reference vectors. The proposed method improves the sum-rate capacity degradation due to the channel decomposition error and channel estimation error in the real environment. Using the proposed method, each cell uses the reference vector that is orthogonal to the adjacent cells. Then the residual interference produced by the channel decomposition error and the channel estimation error is decreased. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves the enhanced sum-rate capacity.

  • It is widely believed that cognitive radio (CR) networks have an opportunistic nature and therefore can only support best-effort traffics without quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. In this paper, we propose a centralized CR network that adopts interference averaging techniques to support QoS guaranteed traffics under interference outage constraints. In such a CR network, a CR user adaptively adjusts its transmit power to compensate for the channel loss, thereby keeping the receive signal power at the CR base station (BS) at a constant level. The closed-form system capacity of such a CR network is analyzed and derived for a single cell with one CR BS and multiple CR users, taking into account various key factors such as interference outage constraints, channel fading, cell radius, and locations of primary users. The accuracy of the theoretical results is validated by Monte Carlo simulations. Numerical and simulation results show promising capacity potential for deploying QoS-guaranteed CR networks in frequency bands with fixed primary receivers. Our work can provide theoretical guidelines for the strategic planning of centralized CR networks.

  • This paper presents an equalizer reducing CCI(cell-to-cell interference) in MLC NAND flash memory. The CCI is a critical factor which affects occurring data errors in a cell, when surrounding cells are programed. We derived a characteristic equation for CCI considering write procedure of data that is similar with signal equalizing. The model considers the floating gate capacitance coupling effect, the direct field effect, and programming methods of the MLC NAND flash memory. We verify the proposed equalizer comparing with the measured data of 1-block MLC NAND flash memory. As the simulation result, the equalizer shows an error correction ratio about 60% under 20nm NAND process.

  • This paper analyzes the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) for a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system with minium mean square error receivers in multi-cell environments. A previous work in single cell environments is extended into analysis in multi-cell environments. The use of Haar unitary code matrix for asymptotic analysis causes other cell interferences expressed with a diagonal matrix haying different diagonal values. This paper shows that other cell interferences converge to an identity matrix whose gain is expressed by only other cell interference power in mean square sense and finds asymptotic deterministic SINRs for a given other cell interference. Under the assumption that the sum of lognormal fading components is distributed by other lognormal function, we show the comparison between theoretical performances and simulations from the view point of bit error rate and present average throughput performance according to the cell radius.

  • To analyze the performance of mobile communication systems, the exact information of the carrier-to-interference ratio is important. Under the presence of an interferer in a cell, the carrier-to-interference ratio of the receiver is determined by the ratio between the informer-receiver distance$(d_0)$ and the receiver-interferer distance$(d_1)$. In this paper, we derive the carrier-to-interference distribution based on $d_0/d_1$ values using the geometric relation among the informer, interferer and receiver, and confirm its exactness using the simulation result. We also apply the derivation result to a system with the adjacent channel interference, and analyze the outage probability.

  • Upcoming cellular networks such as LTE-advanced and IEEE 802.16m are enhanced by relay stations to support high data rate multimedia services and minimize the shadow zone with low cost. Enhancing the relay stations, however, divides the multihop cellular network into smaller microcells and the distance between microcells is closer, which intends large intra-cell and inter-cell interference. Especially the access link on downlink in the OFDMA cellular network is the throughput bottleneck due to the severe interference caused by base stations and relay stations transmitting large data to mobile stations simultaneously. In this paper, we present interference aware channel allocation algorithm to avoid severe interference on multihop cellular networks with random topology. Proposed algorithm increases SINR(signal to interference plus noise ratio) and decreases number of required control messages for channel allocation, so that increases overall throughput on the networks.

  • This paper describes the design process of a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure which may be used to measure transverse forces and twisting moment simultaneously. Also we have derived equations to predict the bending strains on the surface of the beams in the multiple parallel plate structure under transverse force or twisting moment. It reveals that the bending strains calculated from the derived equations are in good agreement with the results from finite element analysis and experiment. Also we have evaluated the rated output and interference error of each component, which can be efficiently used to design a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure.

  • In Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular networks, the transmit power control (TPC) mechanism consists of two parts: the open loop (OL) and closed loop. Most cellular networks consider OL/TPC because of its simple implementation and low operation cost. The analysis of OL/TPC parameters is essential for efficient resource management from the cellular operator's viewpoint. In this work, the impact of the OL/TPC parameters is investigated for homogeneous small cells and heterogeneous small-cell/macrocell network environments. A mathematical model is derived to compute the transmit power at the user equipment, the received power at the eNodeB, the interference in the network, and the received signal-to-interference ratio. Using the analytical platform, the effects of the OL/TPC parameters on the system performance in LTE networks are investigated. Numerical results show that, in order to achieve the best performance, it is appropriate to choose ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in a homogenous small-cell network. Further, the selections of ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in the small cells and ${\alpha}_{macro}=0.8$ and $P_{o-macro}=-100dBm$ in the macrocells seem to be suitable for heterogeneous network deployment.

  • Coordinated multi-point transmission is a candidate technique for next-generation cellular communications systems. We consider a system with multiple cells in which base stations coordinate with each other by sharing user channel state information, which mitigates inter-cell interference (ICI), especially for users located at the cell edge. We introduce a new user scheduling method that considers both ICI and intra-cell orthogonality. Due to the influence of ICI cancellation and the loss reduction of effective channel gain during the beamforming process, the proposed method improves the system sum rate, when compared to the conventional method, by an average of 0.55bps/Hz for different numbers of total users per cell.

  • Coordinated multi-point transmission (CoMP) is a candidate technique for next generation cellular communications systems. One of the primary elements discussed in LTE-Advanced technology is CoMP, which can improve cell edge user data rate as well as spectral efficiency due to multiple input multiple output - orthogonal frequency division multiplex (MIMO-OFDM). We consider a system with multiple cells in which base stations coordinate with each other by sharing user channel state information (CSI), which mitigates inter cell interference (ICI), especially for users located at the cell edge. We introduce a new user scheduling method of ICI cancellation and the loss reduction of effective channel gain during the beamforming process, the proposed method improves the system sum rate, when compared to the conventional method by an average of 0.55bps/Hz in different number of total users per cell. It also outperforms the conventional method by approximately 0.38bps/Hz using different SNRs.
