Perovskite-structured samarium strontium cobaltite (SSC), which is mixed ionic electronic conductor (MIEC), is considered as a promising cathode material for intermediate temperature-operating solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) due to its high electrocatalytic property. Cathode material containing cobalt (Co) is unstable at high temperature and has a relatively high thermal expansion property. In this paper, Sm-Sr-(Co,Fe,Ni)-O system with perovskite and spinel structures was investigated in terms of electrochemical property and thermal expansion property, respectively. Area specific resistance (ASR) was measured by ac impedance spectroscopy to investigate the electrochemical property of cathode, and thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) was measured by using dilatometer. Micro structure of cathode was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Perovskite-structured $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3-\delta}$ showed the ASR of $0.87{\Omega}/cm^{2}$, and $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}NiO_{3-\delta}$, which actually has a spinel structure, showed the lowest TEC value of $13.3{\times}10^{-6}/K$.

Due to distinct properties of plastic substrates such as poor thermal resistance, non-rigidness and high thermal expansion, it is difficult to fabricate plastic film LCDs by conventional LCD processes. Poor thermal resistance and high thermal expansion of substrates induced deformation of substrates surface, mismatch of thermal expansion between ITO electrodes and substrates resulted in defects in the ITO electrodes during the high temperature process. Defects of ITO electrodes and non-uniform cell gap caused by non-rigid and flexible properties were also observed in the pressuring process. Based on in these observations, we used a newly developed material and fabrication process to prevent deformation of substrates, defects of electrodes and to maintain uniform cell gap. The maximum temperature of the process is limited up to $110^{\circ}C$ and pressure loaded during the process is five times less than conventional one. With these invented processes and materials, we obtained highly reliable Plastic Film STN LCDs whose electro-optical characteristics are better than or equivalent to those of typical glass LCDs.
The spatial distribution of neutron flux or reaction rate was calculated by cell or mesh tally in traditional Monte Carlo simulation. However, either cell or mesh tally leads to the increase of memory consumption and simulation time. In this paper, the function expansion tally (FET) method was developed in Reactor Monte Carlo code RMC to solve this problem. The FET method was applied to the tallies of neutron flux distributions of uranium block and PWR fuel rod models. Legendre polynomials were used in the axial direction, while Zernike polynomials were used in the radial direction. The results of flux, calculation time and memory consumption of different expansion orders were investigated, and compared with the mesh tally. Results showed that the continuous distribution of flux can be obtained by FET method. The flux distributions were consistent with that of mesh tally, while the memory consumption and simulation time can be effectively reduced. Finally, the convergence analysis of coefficients of polynomials were performed, and the selection strategy of FET order was proposed based on the statistics uncertainty of the coefficients. The proposed method can help to determine the order of FET, which was meaningful for the efficiency and accuracy of FET method.
Using cell-free extract of Lysobacter lactamgenus, enzymatic conversion of $\delta$-L-($\alpha$-aminoadiphyl)-L-cysteinyl-D-valine (ACV) the first substrate of $\beta$-lactam biosynthesis, into antibiotic compounds was attempted. In high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) analysis, the biosynthetic intermediates for cephalosporin antibiotics including isopenicillin N, deacetoxycephalosporin C, deacetylcephalosporin C and unknown cephem compound were detected in reaction mixtures. It implies that cephabacin compounds from L lactamgenus could be produced by biosynthetic routes through penicillin ring formation and its expansion to cephalosporin ring, likely as cephalosporin C from Cephalosporium or cephamycin C from Streptomyces. Among biosynthetic enzyme in cell-free extract, the ring formation activity (isopenicillin N synthetase activity) was separated in 50-60% of ammonium sulfate fraction, and ring expansion activity (deacetoxycephalosporin C synthetase activity) was found to be in 40-50% fraction. The partially purified isopenicillin N synthetase could convert as much as 90% ACV to isopenicillin N during 6-hour reaction.

Homogenization method is adopted to predict the permeability tenor for glass fiber plain woven fabrics. Calculating the permeability tensor numerically is an encouraging task because the permeability tensor is a key parameter in resin transfer molding (RTM). Based on multi-scale approach of the homogenization method, the permeability for the micro-unit cell within fiber tow is computed and compared with that obtained from flow analysis for the same micro-unit cell. It is found that they are in good agreement. In order to calculate the permeability tensor of macro-unit cell for the plain woven fabrics, the Stokes and Brinkman equations which describe inter-tow and intra-tow flow respectively are employed as governing equations. The effective permeabilities homogenized by considering intra-tow flow are compared with those obtained experimentally. Control volume finite element method (CVFEM) is used as a numerical method. It is shown that the asymptotic expansion homogenization method is an attractive method to predict the effective permeability for heterogeneous media.
The volume expansion of three ionic liquids (ILs) in the presence of supercritical carbon dioxide has been measured at pressures up to 32 MPa and at temperatures from 313.15 to 333.15 K in a high-pressure view cell. The imidazolium-derivative ionic liquids 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim][$PF_6$]), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][$BF_4$]), and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([omim][$BF_4$]) were employed in this research. The effects of pressure, temperature, nature of anion and cation as well as the water content on the volume expansion of ILs by absorbing $CO_2$ were investigated experimentally. The volume expansion was higher for the ILs with longer cationic alkyl group and for the ILs with lower anion polarity. The lower the water content, the lower the temperature, or the higher the pressure, the higher was the expansion of IL phase.
This study was performed to investigate the stimulating effect on oocyte maturation and cumulus cell expansion in TC199 media by human cord serum (HCS) supplementation. Immature mouse oocyte cumulus complexes (OCCs) were cultured in TC199 media supplemented with bovine serum albumin (BSA), HCS and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) instead of luteinizing hormone (LH) respectively, and the expression of cumulus expansion and oocyte maturation were observed. After 4hr and 24hr culture with or without OCCs, media containing 0.4% BSA, 10% HCS and 10 IV hCG respectively were collected and analyzed for changing concentrations of estradiol $(E_2)$, progesterone $(P_4)$, testosterone (T), and $PGF_{2\alpha}$. There were no elevation of $E_2$, T, and $PGF_{2\alpha}$ by OCCs culture, but minute elevation of $P_4$ level by 24hr OCCs culture in hCG supplementation (p=0.048). The stimulating pattern of cumulus expansion of OCCs by HCS and hCG supplementation was similar to our previously report using Ham's F-10 media, however oocyte maturation rates after 24hr OCCs culture in all media were increased by $20\sim30%$ compared to Ham's F-10 media. These results suggest that LH in HCS induce cumulus expansion probably by $P_4$ secretion of OCCs, and TC199 is efficient media for immature mouse oocyte maturation.
Field piezocone dissipation tests are performed, and the results are compared to the Rowe cell consolidation tests results to investigate the consolidation characteristics of soft marine deposit at the same location in Korea. From these results, statistical formula fur the relation between the coefficients of horizontal consolidation$(c_r)$ from Rowe cell consolidation tests and $t_{50}$ from pore pressure dissipation tests by Piezocone is suggested through the regression analysis. The results are also compared to the existing theoretical formula. It is also shown that suggested formula is similar to Torstensson's(1977) formula based on cylindrical cavity expansion theory and Houlsby and Teh's(1988) formula based on strain path method.

What causes the transformation of a solar cell is the behavior difference of thermal expansion occurred between the substrate and the layer of semiconductor used in the solar cell. Therefore, the substrate has to possess a behavior of thermal expansion that is similar with that of semiconductor layer. This study employed electroforming to manufacture Fe-Ni alloy materials of different compositions. To verify the result from a finite element analysis, a two-dimensional Mo substrate was calculated and its verification experiment was conducted. The absolute values from the finite element analysis of Mo/substrate structure and its verification experiment showed a difference. However, the size of residual stress of individual substrate compositions had a similar tendency. Two-dimensional CIGS/Mo/$SiO_2$/substrate was modeled. Looking into the residual stress of CIGS layer occurred while the temperature declined from $550^{\circ}C$ to room temperature, the smallest residual stress was found with the use of Fe-52 wt%Ni substrate material.
