INTERFACIAL MORPHOLOGY BETWEEN DENTIN AND ADHESIVES ACCORDING TO TREATMENT OF DENTIN SURFACE OF CERVICAL ABRASION LESION (치경부 마모병소의 상아질 표면처리 방식에 따른 상아질과 접착제 간의 계면 양상)

  • In order to know the effect of dentin bonding agents on the restoration of cervical abrasion, Scotchbond Multipurpose Single Bond and Clearfil Liner Bond 2 were used in 51 teeth with abrasion lesion and normal teeth. The surface structure and dentinal tubules of acid etched dentin and resin replica were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The interfacial morphology between dentin and adhesives was investigated by confocal laser scanning microscopy. Following results were obtained. 1. The hybrid layer and resin tag of the dentin showing cross-sectional surface of dentinal tubules are thicker and longer than those of dentin showing oblique surface of dentinal tubules. 2. The sclerotic cast was frequently observed in dentinal tubule, and the cast looked like cuboidal or rhomboidal-shaped crystals clumped from outer side to inner side. 3. The formation of hybrid layer and resin tag was the most prominent in Scotchbond Multipurpose group, whereas Clearfil Liner Bond 2 group showed very poor formation. The formation of hybrid layer and resin tag in Single Bond group was less than Scotchbond Multipurpose group.

  • This study targets mainly to reduce the manufacturing costs of cam spindles and manufacturing of mechanical components with longer service durations through application of surface engineering techniques on cam spindles. Within the frame of this study, we have attempted to establish the performances of cam spindles manufacture from forged steel and SGCI, through performance of wear tests in plate-disk system, metalographic investigations, SEM imaging, EDS analyses and micro hardness scans on test samples having the same sizes with original cam that once obtained from casting of Spherical Graphite Cast Iron (SGCI) are subjected partially to Boronising and partially to hardening in a salt solution and cam spindles currently manufactured from CK 45 through cauterization based reshaping.

Effect of Austempering Temperature on the Mechanical Properties and Fracture Characteristic of Austemped Ductile Cast Iron (오스템퍼드 구상흑연 주철의 기계적 성질 및 파괴특성에 미치는 오스템퍼링 온도의 영향)

  • This study was performed to investigation the effect of austempering temperature on the mecanical properties and fracture Characteristic of the ductile cast iron with contains Cu and Mo. The obtained results of this study were as follows; Microstructure of austemped ductile cast iron obtained by austempering were low bainite with some martensite at $250^{\circ}C$, mixture of low and upper bainite at $300^{\circ}C$ and upper bainite at $350^{\circ}C$. With increasing austempering temperature, yield strength, tensile strength and hardness decreased, while the elongation and impact absorption energy increased. With increasing austempering temperature, fracture toughness value increased and mainly controlled by bolume fraction of retained austenite. The volume fraction of retained austenite increased and the fracture surface obtained fibrous and dimple with increasing austempering temperature.

  • Grinding has been adapted as a finishing process,which can carry out form and surface integrity at the same time. Recently, high efficient and precise grinding technique is required bacause the needs for functional parts such as silicon wafer,ceramic,and electric materials are increasing. Accordingly, the development of grinding wheel appropriate to that purpose is very important. So, in this paper we newly developed a diamond grinding wheel by applying the superior characteristics of spheroidal graphite of the cast iron sintered product. Especially, a electric resistance sintering method was applied in which rapid heat treatment is possible. Finally, we have achieved successful results that the grinding wheel has high hardness,durability and grinding ability,and satisfies above conditions.

  • The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate scanning electron micrographs of repeatedly cast base metal alloy. For this study two Ni-Cr-Be alloys were used; Rexillium III and Verabond. They were repeatedly cast without addition o new alloy melting with an electric resistant furnace (Castron 8, Yoshida dental equipment Mfg.Co.). They were etched with 10% H₂SO₄ Sol. at 300mA/㎠ for 3 minutes with the use of metal etching unit Oxyetch (OXY dental product Inc.), and ultrasonic cleaning in 18% HC1 Sol. was done. Etched surfaces were examined under a SEM at x 200 and x 750. The surfaces are shown in legends.

  • In internal combustion engines the usual material for the cylinder liner is because of its good wear resistance Apparently this wear resistance arises from the at iron to form a hard glazed surface when under sliding friction. When the cylinder liner wear limits, it shall be replace with new one according to the classification soci manufacturer's standards. However, adoption of alternative repairing method such a metalizing, thermo plastic deformation process became inevitable taking enormous cost renewal into consideration. In this paper. the material properties of cylinder liner of grey discussed on the basis of the results of experimental work of the thermo plastic deformation the worn out cylinder liner made of grey cast iron.

  • In manufacturing the all-ceramic crown whick look close to natural teeth, the effectiveness of the improved technique is expectected the technique of the heat treatment of gold plating coating die was experimented of a refractory cast model. The following results were obtainde 1. An advantage of build up on east die with out manufacturing veneer, crown, core, or masking(reduction of technical process, and retrenchment of time and money) 2. Esthetically more close to natural teeth than other technique 3. Easy to remove a refractors cast die 4. In manufacturing ceramo-metal crown the enomous effectiveness was obtainde on applying in the areas of cervical margin, the metal surface, and in the treatment of pinhole.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate cutting characteristics and wear behavior in FCD500 ductile cast iron turning with different cutting tools, tungsten-carbide and CBN. Mechanical property, cutting characteristics and the application to the real industrial area is the final purpose. FDC500 ductile cast iron is now widely used in the various commercial vehicle parts for increased machine abilities which accrue more tensile strength with lower hardness. Several studies have been fulfilled for the material and heat-treatment area, but few with the cutting characteristics and wear behavior in the turning area.

Experimental Study to Examine Wear Characteristics and Determine the Wear Coefficient of Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) Roll (Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) 롤의 마모 특성 고찰 및 마모계수 도출을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • A pin-on-disk test is performed to measure the wear volume of a ductile cast iron (DCI) roll when it wears down using a high carbon steel and two alloy steels at different sliding velocities between the roll and the material (steel). Normal pressure is set as constant and test temperatures are 400, 500 and $600^{\circ}C$. In addition, thermal softening behavior of the DCI roll is examined using a high-temperature micro-hardness tester and the surface hardness variation of the DCI roll is expressed in terms of temperature and heating time. Based on experimental data, a wear coefficient used in Archard's wear model for each material is obtained. The wear volume is clearly observed when the test temperature is $400^{\circ}C$ and sliding velocity varies. However, it is not measured at temperatures of $500^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$ even with variations in sliding velocity. From the optical photographs of the pin and disk, the abrasive wear is observed at $400^{\circ}C$ clearly, but no at $500^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. At higher temperatures, the pin surface is not smooth and has many tiny caves distributed on it. It is found that wear volume is dependent on the carbon contents rather than alloy contents. Results also reveal that the variations of wear coefficients are almost linearly proportional to the carbon contents of the material.
