The Hydroxyl Group-Solvent and Carbonyl Group-Solvent Specific Interactions for Some Selected Solutes Including Positional Isomers in Acetonitrile/Water Mixed Solvents Monitored by HPLC

  • We have evaluated the specific hydroxyl group-solvent and carbonyl group-solvent interactions by using an Alltima C18 stationary phase and by measuring the retention data of carefully selected solutes in 60/40, 70/30, and 80/20(v/v%) acetonitrile/water eluents at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 oC. The selected solutes are phenol, acetophenone, alkylbenznes(benzene to hexylbenznene), 4 positional isomers of phenylbutanol, 5-phenyl-1-pentanol, 3 positional isomers of alkylarylketone derived from butylbenzene, and 1-phenyl-2-hexanone. The magnitudes of hydroxyl group-acetonitrile/water specific interaction enthalpies are larger than those of carbonyl group-acetonitrile/water specific interaction enthalpies in general while the magnitudes of carbonyl group-methanol/water specific interaction enthalpies are larger than those of hydroxyl group-methanol/water specific interactions. We observed clear discrepancies in functional group-solvent specific interaction among positional isomers. The variation trends of solute transfer enthalpies and entropies with mobile phase composition in the acetonitrile/water system are much different from those in the methanol/water system. The well-known pocket formation of acetonitrile in aqueous acetonitrile mixtures has proven to be useful to explain such phenomena.

이온교환체에 의한 담배 주류연 중 카보닐 화합물의 선택적 흡착 특성 및 흡착 메카니즘 구명 (Investigation of Adsorption Mechanism and Selective Adsorption of Carbonyl Compounds of Mainstream Tobacco Smoke by Ion Exchangers)

  • This work has been conducted to select appropriate filter materials for removing carbonyl compounds in mainstream tobacco smoke. To investigate of the usability of this filter materials, two types of bead ion exchangers were synthesized and their adsorption characteristics for carbonyl compounds were investigated. Sulfonic acid group-containing cation exchanger and ammonium group-containing anion exchanger were synthesized by the suspension polymerization of glycidylmethacrylate(GMA) and divinylbenzene(DVB) followed by the subsequent functionalization, respectively. The removal efficiency of carbonyl compounds by these two ion exchangers increased in the presence of moisture. However, the amount of carbonyl compounds adsorbed on the anion exchanger was larger than that on the cation exchanger under two levels of water contents tested. This phenomenon seems to arise from the electron delocalization in carbonyl group of the anion exchangers. There was not any significant relationship between the amount of carbonyl compounds adsorbed on ion exchangers and the length of adsorption column. From the large ion exchange capacity and rapid ion exchange reaction rate of the anion exchanger, it is suggested that the anion exchanger may be a good filter material for removing carbonyl compounds in the mainstream tobacco smoke.

액정올리고머에 있는 카보닐그룹들의 동적순서에 대한 2차원 라만상관분광법 연구 (Determining the Dynamic Sequence of Carbonyl Groups in a Rod-Coil Liquid Crystalline Oligomer Using Two-Dimensional Raman Correlation Spectroscopy)

  • 12-4라는 액정올리고머가 액정이 되는 과정에서 일어나는 동력학을 2차원 라만상관분광법을 이용하여 연구하였다. 분광법의 결과로부터 에틸그룹 옆에 붙어있는 자유 카보닐 그룹이 먼저 움직이고, 수소결합을 이룬 카보닐 그룹이 나중에 움직인다는 것을 알아내었다. 반면에 바이페닐그룹사이에 존재하는 자유 카보닐 그룹은 좀처럼 움직이지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 샘플-샘플상관분광법의 결과로부터는 액정이 되는 온도 135$^{\circ}C$보다 훨씬 낮은 온도인 50$^{\circ}C$에서 이미 카보닐 그룹의 움직임이 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • INTRODUCTION : The photochemistry of nitro chromophore has been the subject of intense study only in recent years. Unlike the carbonyl functional group, of which the photochemistry has been quite extensively studied and fairly well understood, as a result of excellent work done by numerous physical and organic photochemists alike, the nature of photochemistry of nitro group has only recently been systematically explored. The photochemistry of nitro group exhibits general features of the photochemistry of the carbonyl groups such as hydrogen abstraction by the diradical species generated from the n-$\pi$$^*$ excited state of the nitro group. Other photochemical pathways common to the carbonyl group such as the biradical intermidiate formation, photocycloelimination, and cydoaddition reactions are also open for the nitro group. Of all the photochemical reactions of the nitro group mentioned above, hydrogen abstraction by the n-$\pi$$^*$ excited state of the nitro group has drawn much attention by synthetic organic chemists and polymer chemists. In the field of organic synthesis, above mintioned photochemical reaction has been utilized in the photoprotection-deprotection chemistry.

수소화붕소나트륨과의 2액상환원에 의한 카르보닐 화합물의 선택환원 (Selective Reduction of Carbonyl Compounds Using Two Phase Reduction with Sodium Borohydride)

  • 니트릴, 니트로 및 할로겐과 같은 작용기 하나를 가지는 유기화합물과 이들의 작용기 하나와 더불어 카르보닐기를 가지는 10개 유기화합물의 에테르용액을 실온에서 알칼리성 수소화붕소나트륨용액에 작용시키는 2액상환원의 대략적인 반응속도와 화학량적 관계를 알아보았다. 니트릴, 니트로 및 할로겐은 2액상환원 조건하에서는 모두 반응하지 않았다. 따라서 이들 작용기 하나와 카르보닐기를 함께 가지고 있는 화합물들의 선택환원을 알아보았다. m-니트로벤즈알데히드, m-니트로아세트페논, p-시아노벤즈알데히드는 해당 알코올로 잘 환원되었으며 95∼100% 수득률을 얻었다.

Characterization of Lignin Structure in Chemithermomechanical Pulp Predicting Photo-Yellowing Level by Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography with Tetrabuthylammonium Hydroxide

  • Pyrolysis-gas chromatography (Py-GC) in the presence of organic alkali of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH) was applied to characterize the polyphenol fragments with a carbonyl group causing different magnitude of photo-yellowing in chemithermomechanical pulp (CTMP) papers. Two different origin of CTMP papers prepared from different individuals of Eucalyptus globulus trees showing high and low yellowing after photo-irradiation was compared before photo-irradiation. As a result, 7 peaks assigned to a series of phenol compounds with a carbonyl group, derived mainly from lignin, gave significant amount of phenol compounds with a carbonyl group for the paper sample of latent high yellowing, i.e., butoxy-and syringaldehyde, butoxy-and syringylacetone, butoxy-acetoguaiacone, butoxy-acetosyringone, butoxy-acetoethylsyringone, 3-methoxy-4-butoxy butyl ester, and 3,5-dimethoxy-4-butoxy butyl ester, using Py-GC/mass spectrometry (MS). The Py-GC method combined with TBAH successfully characterized polyphenol fragments with a carbonyl group causing differ high photo-yellowing in CTMP papers using a microgram order of samples.

An in vivo Study of Lipid Peroxidation in Rats under Conditions of Oxidative Stress and the Antioxidant Effects of Probucol

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate in vivo lipid peroxidation in rats under conditions of streptozotocin-induced oxidative stress and the antioxidant effects of probucol. In vivo lipid peroxidation was observed by measuring low molecular weight aldehydes and related carbonyl compounds in rat urine. Three groups of male Wistar rats weighing 165-190 g were used: normal (N), streptozotocin-induced oxidative stress (OS) and oxidative stress plus probucol treatment (P). following streptozotocin treatment of the rats, a variety of secondary lipid peroxidation products were increased. The levels of butanal, hexanal, hex-2-enal, kept-2-enal, octanal, non-2-enal, deca-2,4-dienal, 4-hydroxyhex-2-enal, 4-hydroxyno n-2-enal, malondi aldehyde(MDA), and unknown carbonyl compounds were significantly increased in the oxidative stress group compared to the control group. Treatment with probucol resulted in significant decreases in buoal, hexanal, hex-2-enal, octanal, deca-2,4-dienal, 4-hydroxyhex-2-enal, MDA and unknown carbonyl compounds. Hept-2-enal, hepta-2,4-dienal and non-2-enal appeared to have a tendency to decrease due to pobucol treatment.

赤外線分光法에 의한 層狀硅酸鹽의 層間表面上의 陽이온과 Methylmethacrylate의 錯物 硏究 (An Infrared Study of Complexes of Methylmethacrylate with Cations on the Interlamdellar Surfaces of Layer Silicates)

  • 여러 종류의 層間 陽이온을 가지고 있는 層狀 硅酸鹽上에서 일어난 methylmethacrylate의 吸着에 關하여 赤外線 分光法과 X-ray로 硏究하였다. 吸着된 methylmethacrylate의 여러 개의 特性 carbonyl band가 陽이온의 種과 脫水溫度에 따라서 다르게 1723∼1547$cm^{-1}$의 範圍에서 나타났다. 190$cm^{-1}$程度로 shift한 carbonyl 伸縮 band는 polyvalent 陽이온에만 나타났으며 $>C=O{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}M^{n+}$型 着物形成 基因하는 것이었다. 1703∼1640$cm^{-1}$에서 나타난 band는 carbonyl 酸素와 陽이온 水 또는 陽이온 水酸基와의 水素結合에 依한 것이었고 shift한 정도는 層間 陽이온의 polarizing power와 좋은 相互 關係를 이루었다. 그러나 1723$cm^{-1}$에서 나타난 band는 陽이온의 鍾과는 相互 關係가 없었으며 carbonyl ,酸素와 表面 水酸基와의 相互 作用으로 因한 것이었다. Interlamellar spacing을 계산해 본 結果 methylmethacrylate의 分子平面은 硅酸鹽의 層과 平行하게 놓여 있는 것 같다.

전력케이블용 절연재료의 열화특성 및 수명진단에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Aging Characteristics and Life Diagnosis of Insulating Materials for Power Cable)

  • Aging characteristics of the crosslinked polyethylene have been measured after applying electrical, thermal and combined stresses. ICP and FT-IR measurements confirmed diffusion of low molecular weight components such as antioxidant and presence of carbonyl group. Carbonyl group of aged crosslinked polyethylene under combined stress was detected by FT-IR. As deterioration of the crosslinked polyethylene progresses, crystallinity degree and density decrease. Also, dielectric properties have been measured by tan $\delta$ and $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ measurements. The three-parameter Weibull distribution was found to be the best suited among other probabilistic distribution representing the dielectric breakdown strength of aged crosslinked polyethylene. The scale parameter and location parameter decreases as the applied stress increases. The shape parameter increases as the stress increases.s.

  • Layer silicate 에 지지된 陽이온상에서의 일어난 acetaldehyde, acrolein, 그리고 crotonaldehyde의 吸着機構에 對하여 IR과 X-ray로서 硏究하였다. $1720∼1580㎝^{-1}$의 범위에서 일어난 4個의 특성적인 吸捉 band를 分析한 結果 $130㎝^{-1}$程度로 shift한 carbonyl band 는 >C=O${\cdots}$M형 complex 形成에 基因하는 것이었고, acetaldehyde는 $1722㎝^{-1}$에서, 다른 알데히드는 $1690㎝^{-1}$에서 sharp하게 나타난 carbonyl band는 >C=O와 surface -O-H와의 interaction에서 일어난 것이었다. 그리고 1710∼1660㎝-1에서 나타난 broad한 band는 >C=O와 陽이온 -O-H와의 사이에 일어난 水素結合에 依한 것이었다. 그리고 $1640∼1660㎝^{-1}$사이에 나타난 弱한 band는 carbonyl group 의 强한 吸着에 依하여 誤起된 >C=C< 二重結合에 依한 것이었다. 이 사실들은 X-ray 廻折에 依하여 다시 確認하였다.
