Main bearing cap is one of the essential structural elements in internal combustion engine. Main bearing cap guides and holds the crankshaft, withstanding the full combustion and inertia loads of the engine. A seamless design methodology using FEA has been proposed to produce a reliable design of main bearing cap. A Levy's thick cylinder model was applied to calculate the contact pressure between bearing shell and housing bore. A calculated contact pressure at housing bore is within the allowed limit comparing with that from bearing shell model. An adequate FEA model was suggested to obtain reliable solutions for the durability of main bearing cap. 3D global model consists of engine bulkhead, main bearing cap, and bolts. Sub-model consisting of cap and part of bolts is used to get detailed solution of main bearing cap. A very careful contact modeling practice is needed to resolve the convergence problems frequently encountering during combined geometric and material non-linear problems. A proposed methodology has been applied to the main bearing cap model successfully and obtained reliable stress results and fatigue safety factors.
Capsaicin(CAP) is a pungent ingredient of hot pepper that has been used as a spicy food additive, pre-servative, and medicine. In this study, the effect of CAP on L-ascorbic acid(AsA)level in various tissues as well as its urinary excretion. and drug-metabolizing enzyme activity in rats were investigated. Rats fed AsA-deficient diets for 17days were injected intraperitoneally with 1mg of CAP in 0.5ml of ethanol-Tween 80-saline(20 :10 : 70, v/v/v). Control rats received the equal volume of the same solution without CAP. Urine was collected for 3 day after the CAP injection, and after 5 days tissues were removed; their AsA contents were measured by high performance liquid chromatography combined with and electrochemical detector. In addition, hepatic microsomal ethoxyresorfin O-deethylase(EROD) activity as measured. Urinary AsA excretion changed significantly following CAP injection. One and two days after CAP injection, the urinary AsA increased 2-and 3-fold in the CAP injected group, compared to the control, but the contents of adrenal glands and brain were lower than those of the control Dehydroascorbic acid contents in adrenal glands of the CAP injected group were higher than that of the control These results suggested that a single large dose of CAP could temporarily cause the redistribution of AsA in tissues accompanying by its urinary excretion, by affecting probably a biological system including mixed function oxygenase system(MFOS)
Cyclase-associated protein 2 (CAP2) has been addressed as a candidate biomarker in various cancer types. Previously, we have shown that CAP2 is expressed during multi-step hepatocarcinogenesis; however, its underlying mechanisms in liver cancer cells are not fully elucidated yet. Here, we demonstrated that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induced CAP2 expression, and which promoted migration and invasion of liver cancer cells. We also found that the ER stress-induced CAP2 expression is mediated through activation of protein kinase C epsilon (PKCε) and the promotor binding of activating transcription factor 2 (ATF2). In addition, we further demonstrated that CAP2 expression promoted epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) through activation of Rac1 and ERK. In conclusion, we suggest that ER stress induces CAP2 expression promoting EMT in liver cancer cells. Our results shed light on the novel functions of CAP2 in the metastatic process of liver cancer cells.

We investigated the dependence of the memory margin of the Cap-less memory cell on the strain of top silicon channel layer and also compared kink effect of strained Cap-less memory cell with the conventional Cap-less memory cell. For comparison of the characteristic of the memory margin of Cap-less memory cell on the strain channel layer, Cap-less transistors were fabricated on fully depleted strained silicon-on-insulator of 0.73-% tensile strain and conventional silicon-on-insulator substrate. The thickness of channel layer was fabricated as 40 nm to obtain optimal memory margin. We obtained the enhancement of 2.12 times in the memory margin of Cap-less memory cell on strained-silicon-on-insulator substrate, compared with a conventional SOI substrate. In particular, much higher D1 current of Cap-less memory cell was observed, resulted from a higher drain conductance of 2.65 times at the kink region, induced by the 1.7 times higher electron mobility in the strain channel than the conventional Cap-less memory cell at the effective field of 0.3MV/cm. Enhancement of memory margin supports the strained Cap-less memory cell can be promising substrate structures to improve the characteristics of Cap-less memory cell.
This paper attempts to develop an index of mobile telecommunications service quality through econometric analysis using data of the leading telco in each OECD country. CapEx of the operator was selected as a proxy variable to represent the quality of the service. To eliminate the part which is dependent on the population and size from CapEx, however, CapEx was regressed on population, area, 3G coverage, Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) of mobile market, EBITDA margin, and market share of the leading operator. Then, the part of CapEx, which was explained by size and population, was subtracted from CapEx, and the remaining part was regarded as the quality index of mobile telecommunications service. Comparisons among quality indexes of each country revealed that the service quality in Korea and Japan is better than that of France, UK and Germany.
Instead of a single pile, group piles are usually used for the pile foundation. If the earthquake occurs in the ground where group piles are installed, dynamic behavior of group piles are affected not only by interaction of piles and the ground movement but also by the pile cap. However, in Korea, the pile cap influence is not taken account into the design of group piles. Research on dynamic behavior of group piles has been performed only to verify interaction of piles and the ground and has not considered the pile cap as a factor. In this research, 1g shaking table model tests were performed to verify the thickness of the pile cap affects dynamic behavior of group piles that were installed in the ground where the earthquake would occur. The test results show that, as thickness of the pile cap increased, acceleration and horizontal displacement of the pile cap decreasd while vertical displacement of the pile cap increased. The results also showed that, among the group files tested, acceleration, horizontal displacement, and vertical displacement of the bearing pile are smaller than those of the friction pile.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a computer access assessment tool for persons with physical disabilities and to evaluate reliability and validity. Methods: We developed a computerized Computer access Assessment Program (CAP) through many kinds of literature review and tools analysis for evaluation of computer access, task analysis of fundamental input devices operation and expert review. The CAP data were obtained from 105 normal university students and 16 students with physical disabilities. The test items of CAP are composed of four timed mouse tasks, four timed keyboard tasks, and a timed scanning task. Thus, the software measures user performance in skills needed for computer interaction, such as keyboard and pointer use, navigating through menus, and scanning. To determine the validity of these measurements, we compared data on CAP reports to a Compass report. Compass software allows an evaluator for assessment of an individual's computer input skills. Results: Results of this study showed that the CAP had high internal consistency, reliability of test-retest, concurrent validity, and convergent validity. Conclusion: Therefore, the CAP is appropriate for evaluation and determination of computer access skill of persons with physical disabilities. It is possible to get clear quantitative data on performance when providing computer access services if you can use the CAP data. Using this quantitative evidence, insights can be gained into the specific nature of any difficulties experienced by persons with physical disabilities and find wise solutions.
In this study, both kinds of materials, that is, leather and woolen fabrics, which have similar thickness, have been adopted. To determine proper length of ease, not only sleeve cap height but also sleeve width has been adjusted mainly based on 5cm length of the ease, which follows maximum sleeve cap height, and then different length of ease, for example, 4cm, 3cm, 2cm and 1cm of ease, have been made. As a result, eighteen kinds in total of sleeves have been made: In other words, each nine kinds of both leather and woolen fabrics have different ease lengths. In addition, each sleeve has been inspected visually and functionally. Following conclusion has been gotten based on outcome of the study: 1. Proper ease length for manufacture of leather garment is said to be 1∼2 cm. As a result, ease length with higher sleeve cap height shall be 1∼2cm, while the length with lower sleeve cap height shall be 1cm or less. 2. Wider sleeve width has better function. Considering relations with sleeve cap height, sleeve width shall exceed +4cm of bicep line. 3. to satisfy a variety of those conditions while manufacturing leather garment, sleeve cap height, which is used for the manufacture of full dress and street wear garment, To lessen the ease length, body A.H shall be relatively loose under the arms, or pad shall be supplemented on the shoulder, so that the difference had better be lessened to solve such problems.
To present a 6-piece baseball cap pattern with good wearing sensation and with good reflection of head shape, this study conducted direct measurement using martin's anthropometer and indirect measurement using surgical tape among women of 20 to 24 years old. For a crown, correlation analysis was carried out between direct measurements and surface shell measurements of each section on the head to set main items for prototype design, along with regression analysis to complete design formula; for a cap pattern, draping design was used on the finished crown to compete cap pattern design formula. The results showed that main measurement items to design a baseball cap included head circumstance and bitragion arc for a crown and the cephalic index for a cap. For the crown pattern reflecting the shape of the head, 6 pieces were designed with different sizes and types of front (F), side (S), and back (B) patterns; hemline was also designed diagonally and completed by reflecting the curve of the head.
The monoclonal antibody to chloramphenicol(CAP) was produced to develop an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) for residual CAP. An immunogen(CAP-BSA) was prepared by immunogen, antibody titer was measured by indirect ELISA. Spleen cells form the immunized mouse were fused with SP2/OAg14 myeloma cells. Among hybridomas selected in HAT media, 6 clones shown high antibody titer to CAP were subjected to cloning by limit dilution, and all of the monoclonal antibodies(MCA1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9) produced by each clone were identified as IgG1 by ELISA isotyping analysis. Competitive ELISA condition was established by using the purified monoclonal antibody MCA1 as primary antibody and CAP-HSA conjugate as coating antigen. Standard curve of CAP(n=28) showed that the lowest detection limit of CAP is 20ng/ml level. The cross-reactivities of the 6 monoclonal antibodies showed that CAP sodium succinate. CAP base, P-nitrophenol, and p-nitrobenzyl alcohol were 89∼178, 0.050∼2.237, 0.056∼0.794 and 0.013∼7.939%, respectively. No cross-reactivities were observed with phenylalanine, tyrosine, glutamine, thiamphenicol, neomycin, streptomycin, gentamicin, sulfamethazine, sulfathiazole, chlortetracycline and p-aminobenzoic acid.
