  • This paper deals with design of heater trigger switching in a persistent current system(PCS) by finite element method(FEM) analysis of YBCO coated conductor(CC) tape. Most promising superconducting wire is YBCO coated conductor tape in these days for its high n value and critical current independency from external magnetic field. It is expected to be used many superconducting application such as fault current limiter and cable etc. The superconducting magnet which is operated in persistent current mode in SMES, NMR, MRI and MAGLEV has many advantages such as a high uniformity of a magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss. A PCS system consists of magnet power supply (MPS) which energized current to a magnet, heater, a coated conductor tape for switching, and superconducting magnet. In this paper, the characteristic of thermal quench of the YBCO CC tape and BSCCO tape by heater trigger analyzed by FEM. And optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. This heater trigger analysis is expected to be a basic concept of PCS application design.

  • Recently, the advancement of information and communication technology(ICT) is expanding the connectivity through Internet of Things(IoT), and the media of connection is also expanding from wire/cable transmission to broadband wireless communication, which has significantly improved mobility. This hyperconnectivity has become a key element of the fourth industrial revolution, whereas the supervisory control network of purification plants in korea is operated as a communication network separated from the outside, thereby lagging in terms of connectivity. This is considered the best way to ensure security, and thus there is hardly any consideration of establishing alternatives to operate an efficient and stable communication network. Moreover, security for management of a commercialized communication network and network management solution may be accompanied by immense costs, making it more difficult to make new attempts. Therefore, to improve the conditions for the current supervisory control network of purification plants, this study developed a industrial security L2 switch that supports modbus TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) communication and encryption function of the transmission section. As a result, the communication security performance improved significantly, and the cost for implementing the network management system using Historical Trend and information of HMI(Human Machine Interface) could be reduced by approximately KRW 200 million. The results of this study may be applied to systems for gas, electricity and social safety nets that are infrastructure communication networks that are similar to purification plants.

Behavior of a steel bridge with large caisson foundations under earthquake and tsunami actions

  • The main focus of this study is to numerically investigate the influence of strong earthquake and tsunami-induced wave impact on the response and behavior of a cable-stayed steel bridge with large caisson foundations, by assuming that the earthquake and the tsunami come from the same fault motion. For this purpose, a series of numerical simulations were carried out. First of all, the tsunami-induced flow speed, direction and tsunami height were determined by conducting a two-dimensional (2D) tsunami propagation analysis in a large area, and then these parameters obtained from tsunami propagation analysis were employed in a detailed three-dimensional (3D) fluid analysis to obtain tsunami-induced wave impact force. Furthermore, a fiber model, which is commonly used in the seismic analysis of steel bridge structures, was adopted considering material and geometric nonlinearity. The residual stresses induced by the earthquake were applied into the numerical model during the following finite element analysis as the initial stress state, in which the acquired tsunami forces were input to a whole bridge system. Based on the analytical results, it can be seen that the foundation sliding was not observed although the caisson foundation came floating slightly, and the damage arising during the earthquake did not expand when the tsunami-induced wave impact is applied to the steel bridge. It is concluded that the influence of tsunami-induced wave force is relatively small for such steel bridge with large caisson foundations. Besides, a numerical procedure is proposed for quantitatively estimating the accumulative damage induced by the earthquake and the tsunami in the whole bridge system with large caisson foundations.

Case study of random vibration analysis of train-bridge systems subjected to wind loads

  • In order to reveal the independent relationship between track irregularity and wind loads, the stochastic characteristics of train-bridge coupling systems subjected to wind loads were investigated by the multi-sample calculation. The vehicle was selected as 23 degrees of freedom dynamical model, and the bridge was described by three-dimensional finite element model. It was assumed that the wind loads were random processes with strong spatial correlation, while the track irregularities were stationary random ones. As a case study, a high-speed train running on a cable-stayed bridge subjected to wind loads was studied. The effect of rail irregularities was deemed to be independent of the effect of wind excitations on the coupling system in the same wind circumstance for the same project, leading to the conclusion that the effect of wind loads and moving vehicle could be calculated separately. The variance results of the stochastic responses of vehicle-bridge coupling system under the action of wind loads and rail irregularities together were equivalent to the sum of the variance of the responses induced by each excitation. Therefore, when one of the input excitations is different, only the effect of changed loads needs to be assessed. Moreover, the new calculated results were combined with the effect of unchanged loads to present the stochastic response of coupling system subjected to the different excitations, reducing the cost of computations. The stochastic characteristics, the CFD (cumulative distribution function) of the coupling system with different wind velocities, vehicle speed, and vehicle marshalling were studied likewise.

Influence of stiffened hangers on the structural behavior of all-steel tied-arch bridges

  • In tied-arch bridges, the way the arch and the deck are connected may become crucial. The deck is usually suspended from hangers made out of steel pinned cables capable of resisting axial forces only. However, a proper structural response may be ensured by fixing and stiffening the hangers in order to resist, additionally, shear forces and bending moments. Thus, this paper studies the effect of different pinned and stiffened hanger arrangements on the structural behavior of the tied-arch bridges, with the intention of providing designers with useful tools at the early steps of design. Longitudinally and transversally stiffened hangers (and the effect of hinges at the hangers and their locations) are studied separately because the in-plane and the out-of-plane behavior of the bridge are uncoupled due to its symmetry. As a major conclusion, regarding the in-plane behavior, hangers composed of cables (either with vertical, $Nielsen-L\ddot{o}hse$ or network arrangements) are recommended due to its low cost and ease of erection. Alternatively, longitudinally stiffened hangers, fixed at both ends, can be used. Regarding the out-of-plane behavior, and in addition to three-dimensional arrangements of cables, of limited effectiveness, transversally stiffened hangers fixed at both ends are the most efficient arrangement. A configuration almost as efficient and, additionally, cheaper and easier to build can be achieved by locating a hinge at the end corresponding to the most flexible structural element (normally the arch). Its efficiency is further improved if the cross-section tapers from the fixed end to the pinned end.

Feasibility Study of Submerged Floating Tunnels Moored by an Inclined Tendon System

  • Concepts of submerged floating tunnels (SFTs) for land connection have been continuously suggested and developed by several researchers and institutes. To maintain their predefined positions under various dynamic environmental loading conditions, the submerged floating tunnels should be effectively moored by reasonable mooring systems. With rational mooring systems, the design of SFTs should be confirmed to satisfy the structural safety, fatigue, and operability design criteria related to tunnel motion, internal forces, structural stresses, and the fatigue life of the main structural members. This paper presents a feasibility study of a submerged floating tunnel moored by an inclined tendon system. The basic structural concept was developed based on the concept of conventional cable-stayed bridges to minimize the seabed excavation, penetration, and anchoring work by applying tower-inclined tendon systems instead of conventional tendons with individual seabed anchors. To evaluate the structural performance of the new type of SFT, a hydrodynamic analysis was performed in the time domain using the commercial nonlinear finite element code ABAQUS-AQUA. For the main dynamic environmental loading condition, an irregular wave load was examined. A JONSWAP wave spectrum was used to generate a time-series wave-induced hydrodynamic load considering the specific significant wave height and peak period for predetermined wave conditions. By performing a time-domain hydrodynamic analysis on the submerged floating structure under irregular waves, the motional characteristics, structural stresses, and fatigue damage of the floating tunnel and mooring members were analyzed to evaluate the structural safety and fatigue performance. According to the analytical study, the suggested conceptual model for SFTs shows very good hydrodynamic structural performance. It can be concluded that the concept can be considered as a reasonable structural type of SFT.

금속블록 채널이 있는 유도형 전력선통신에 관한 연구 (A Study on Inductive Power Line Communication with Metal Block Channel)

  • 조선소에서 선체 블록과 용접 피더의 위치를 알면 작업자의 위치 정보를 쉽게 얻을 수 있다. 이 데이터는 작업장 안전 모니터링 시스템 구축에 매우 유용하다. 그러나 선체 구조와 용접 공정의 특수성 때문에 작업장에 고정 통신망을 적용하기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 전용 통신선을 대신할 수 있는 유도 전력선 통신을 선체블록과 같은 금속매체에 적용하는 기술을 검토하였다. 용접기의 전원 케이블에 설치할 유도 결합기로 페라이트 코어를 사용하였고, 금속 블록의 지지대에 체결할 결합기로 나노 결정질 코어를 적용하였다. 제안된 커플러는 COMSOL AC/DC 모듈로 3차원 모델링 하였고 동작 원리를 시각화하기 위하여 유한 요소 해석을 수행하였다. 알루미늄 프로파일을 사용한 금속블록 통신 성능 테스트에서 용접 전극의 블록 접촉으로 통신 채널이 형성되었을 때 대역폭은 6 Mbps 이상 유지되었다.

PS 강봉으로 일체화된 강합성 라멘교의 거더-교대 접합부에 대한 피로 성능 평가 (Fatigue Capacity Evaluation of the Girder-Abutment Connection for the Steel-Concrete Composite Rigid-Frame Bridge Integrated with PS Bar)

  • 교대 일체식 교량과 강합성 라멘교는 유지보수의 주된 원인이 되는 신축이음 및 받침이 생략되어 유지관리 및 구조적인 장점을 얻을 수 있는 교량 형식이다. 하지만, 통상적으로 거더를 교대에 매립하는 형태로 시공되는 접합부는 시공상세가 복잡하고 접합부의 시공상세를 간략화하여 시공효율을 향상시킨 새로운 교량 형식을 제안하였다. 제안된 형식의 교량은 PS 강봉에 긴장력을 도입하여 강재로 제작된 거더와 교대를 일체화하는 형태의 교량이다. 이 연구에서는 PS 강봉으로 일체화된 접합부의 피로 성능을 평가하기 위하여 접합부에 대한 유한요소해석 및 피로실험을 실시하였다. 유한요소해석 결과, 제안된 교량의 접합부는 기본적으로 피로에 의한 손상의 가능성이 매우 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 피로시험 결과로부터 2,000,000회의 피로반복하중이 재하된 상태에서도 접합부의 일체화 성능을 유지하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

대공간 건축물 Erection 공법에 관한 사례 조사 연구 (The Case Study on the Erection Method of Large Span Structures)

  • 최근 산업 발전과 더불어 대공간 건축물의 수요가 급증하고 있다. 이 분야 선진 기술은 지간 300m 이상의 대공간 건축물 실현도 가능하게 하고 있다. 대공간 구조에는 쉘구조, 스페이스 프레임 구조, 막구조, 케이블구조 등이 있다. 대공간 건축물은 기둥 없이 넓은 공간을 확보해야 하는 구조적 특성 때문에 설계초기 단계에서부터 시공문제를 병행하여 검토할 필요가 있다. 대공간 건축물 시공에 있어서 erection 공법은 공사비용, 공사기간 그리고 안전성 등에 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 알려져 있다. 대공간 건축물 erection 공법은 현장 여건 및 제반 조건에 따라서 그 수를 헤아릴 수 없을 정도로 많고 다양하지만, 대표적인 공법으로는 Element 방식, Block 방식, Sliding 방식, Lift-up 방식 그리고 복합방식 등이 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 대공간 건축물을 대상으로 시공당시 적용한 erection공법을 조사하여 이것을 규모별, span별, 층고별, 구조형식별로 분석 및 검토하여 향후 대공간 건축물의 효율적 erection 공법 개발을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.

고정밀도의 단상전파정류형 X선 장치의 제작 및 평가 (Evaluation and Experimental Production of Single-Phase Full-wave Rectification Type for X-ray Equipment of High Precision)

  • 1950년대 진단용 X선 장치의 국산화가 이루어졌으며, 1960년 초부터 진단용 X선 장치의 수요가 급격히 증가함에 따라 생산업체의 증가로 의료기기 시장의 많은 발전을 가져왔다. 진단용 X선 장치는 방사선에 대한 인체의 위험 요소인 피폭문제가 있기 때문에 보건복지가족부가 제조, 설치기준을 제정하고 있으며, 이를 기본으로 하여 KSA 4019, KS A 4021, KS A 4022 등에 의해 정밀한 제작이 이루어지고 있다. 진단용 X선 발생장치는 단상 전파 정류형과 삼상 전파 정류형이 대부분이나, 1980년대 이후 인버터식 X선 발생장치로 대부분 전환되기 시작하였다. 인버터식 X선 발생장치는 단상 전파정류형 X선 발생장치에 비해 1.5~1.8배의 높은 출력과 단시간 제어가 정확하지만, 가격이 비싸기 때문에 개인병원에서는 단상전파정류형 X선 장치를 선호하고 있어 단상 전파정류형 X선 장치의 성능개선이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구자들은 단상 전파정류형 X선 발생장치의 제어장치, 고전압 변압기, 필라멘트 가열변압기, 정류회로, 고압케이블 등 기기의 구성요소를 제작하고 진단용 X선 발생장치의 성능평가를 시험하였으며, 그 결과 국내 규정인 진단용 방사선 발생장치의 안전관리 규칙에 적합한 기준을 얻을 수 있었다.
