  • The use of electric cable was limited due to the installation time and large space as the increase of power demand and load quantity in side line. In order to solve these problems, the application of busway system which can supply the large current was increasing. But it was lack of methods of performance tests to evaluate the reliability and results of test for busway system. In this paper, we presented items to evaluate the reliability test for epoxy coated busway system with reference to IEC 61349-6. In addition, we proposed items to evaluate the reliability and long term life cycle test for the epoxy coated busway system. The combined acceleration deterioration test that reflects actual conditions of the survey as much as possible was conducted considering both thermal and electrical stresses. The deterioration condition was selected to satisfy fifty years life expectation and the insulation performance verification test of the busway system confirmed the long term life prediction. Furthermore, as test items for reliability assessment of compliance with the environment for the use of temperature, humidity and load current where busway system was installed, thermal overload test, water immersion test, cold shock temperature test and thermal cycle test were performed. And we examined changes in characteristics and abnormality after tests. From results, the test items presented to evaluate performance and reliability of the epoxy insulated busway system were confirmed to be appropriate in this paper, and the performance of the product was also confirmed to be excellent for reliability tests.

  • The paper presents a new dynamic displacement measurement system. The developed displacement measurement system consists of a sensor module, a base module and a computation module. The sensor module, which contains a force-balanced accelerometer and low-price RTK-GNSS, measures the high-precision acceleration with sampling frequency of 100Hz, the low-precision displacement and velocity with sampling frequency of 10Hz. The measured data is transferred to the computation module through LAN cable, and precise displacement is estimated in real-time with 100Hz sampling frequency through a two stage Kalman filter. The field test was conducted at San Francisco-Oaklmand Bay bridge, CA, USA to verify the precision of the developed system, and it showed the RMSE was 1.68mm.

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) systems have been recently embraced in long span cable-supported bridges, in which buffeting-induced stress monitoring is one of the tasks to ensure the safety of the bridge under strong winds. In line with this task, this paper presents a SHM-oriented finite element model (FEM) for the Tsing Ma suspension bridge in Hong Kong so that stresses/strains in important bridge components can be directly computed and compared with measured ones. A numerical procedure for buffeting induced stress analysis of the bridge based on the established FEM is then presented. Significant improvements of the present procedure are that the effects of the spatial distribution of both buffeting forces and self-excited forces on the bridge deck structure are taken into account and the local structural behaviour linked to strain/stress, which is prone to cause local damage, are estimated directly. The field measurement data including wind, acceleration and stress recorded by the wind and structural health monitoring system (WASHMS) installed on the bridge during Typhoon York are analyzed and compared with the numerical results. The results show that the proposed procedure has advantages over the typical equivalent beam finite element models.

  • In this paper, EPR (ethylene propylene rubber) insulation material was accelerated degradation test at $121^{\circ}C$, $136^{\circ}C$, $151^{\circ}C$, and experiment the typical EAB (elongation at break) at mechanical characteristics analysis. It is shown that the failure-time at the point of 50% of the initial value of Elongation rate to obtain the activation energy. The failure-time was shown each 5,219 hr, 3,165 hr, and 668 hr at three temperatures. In order to derive the activation energy, Arrhenius methodology was applied. Also, we got the Arrhenius plot from three accelerated temperatures. The activation energy values got 0.98 eV from EAB test. The experimental data were evaluated for estimating the probability density, and the suitable distribution by using statistical program MINITAB. It is shown that EAB data by the acceleration thermal degradation is most suitable for the Weibull distribution.

  • With the growing trends of communication- broadcasting convergence, a hybrid IPTV that supports both IP network-based on-demand media and terrestrial or cable-based broadcast media is gaining attraction. This paper proposes a rich media framework for hybrid IPTV with support of the latest H.264 codec. For this purpose, we design and implement a media component and a RIA run-time engine customized for TV with the hybrid media. The media component has been designed to provide a uniform and efficient application interface to the various playback methods for RF broadcast and IP-based stored or live media. For performance and portability, it exploits media stream abstraction, adaptive on-demand I-frame search, and automatic calculation of play duration. Based on the proposed media interface, we develop a RIA run-time prototype. It has been carefully designed to fully utilize the built-in graphic acceleration hardware for optimized rendering in the resource-constrained IPTV environments. Demonstration and experiment results validate the performance and usefulness of the developed framework. The framework is expected to be used effectively to support graphics and hybrid media in the applications of IPTV-based VOD, advertisement, and education.

  • Various monitoring systems have been implemented in civil infrastructure to ensure structural safety and integrity. In long-term monitoring, these systems generate a large amount of data, where anomalies are not unusual and can pose unique challenges for structural health monitoring applications, such as system identification and damage detection. Therefore, developing efficient techniques is quite essential to recognize the anomalies in monitoring data. In this study, several machine learning techniques are explored and implemented to detect and classify various types of data anomalies. A field dataset, which consists of one month long acceleration data obtained from a long-span cable-stayed bridge in China, is employed to examine the machine learning techniques for automated data anomaly detection. These techniques include the statistic-based pattern recognition network, spectrogram-based convolutional neural network, image-based time history convolutional neural network, image-based time-frequency hybrid convolution neural network (GoogLeNet), and proposed ensemble neural network model. The ensemble model deliberately combines different machine learning models to enhance anomaly classification performance. The results show that all these techniques can successfully detect and classify six types of data anomalies (i.e., missing, minor, outlier, square, trend, drift). Moreover, both image-based time history convolutional neural network and GoogLeNet are further investigated for the capability of autonomous online anomaly classification and found to effectively classify anomalies with decent performance. As seen in comparison with accuracy, the proposed ensemble neural network model outperforms the other three machine learning techniques. This study also evaluates the proposed ensemble neural network model to a blind test dataset. As found in the results, this ensemble model is effective for data anomaly detection and applicable for the signal characteristics changing over time.

  • Single segmented mooring lines were tested in a geotechnical centrifuge for the purpose of calibrating the analytical solution developed for the analysis and design of various mooring lines associated with underwater drag/permanent anchors. The model mooring lines included steel ball chains and wire cables placed at various depths within the soft clayey seafloor soil. The mooring lines were loaded to preset tensions at the water surface under an elevated acceleration inside the centrifuge to simulate the field stress conditions experienced by the prototype mooring lines. This paper describes the calibration of two factors that are used as part of the input parameters in the analytical solution of mooring lines and considers the effect of chasing wires that were used in the experiment to determine the locations of the mooring lines.
