REPORT OF THE MANAGEMENT OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE LEFT FACE (산탄총에 의한 좌측 안면부 손상 환자의 치험례 (증례보고))

  • Gunshot wounds to the face are often dramatic at the time of presentation. Although care must be individualized, protocol approach helps the clinician rapidly evaluate patient and plan treatment. Early X-ray films help to determine the precise trajectory. Rapid neurologic assessment and early CT scanning based on physical examination ot trajectory will allow for identification of even occult injuries early. Lead poisoning arising from bullet lead in the synovial cavity of the hip, synovial cavity of the chest and pleural space have been reported. A combination of surgical debridement and chelation therapy with oral succimer produce a satisfactory outcome. We have managed a patient with Lt facial gunshot wound and Lt mandible angle fracture by open reduction of angle fracture and surgical removal of remnant bullet and medially advanced cheek skin flap. We have obtained good result and report this case with review of literatures.

Synthesis of CdS Nanocrystals with Different Shapes via a Colloidal Method

  • Size- and shape-controlled monodisperse wurtzite structured CdS nanorods have been successfully synthesized using a facile solution-based colloidal method. Depending on the control of injection/growth temperatures and the variation of Cd-to-S molar ratios, the morphology of the CdS nanocrystals (NCs) can be adjusted into bullet-like, rod-like, and dot-like shapes. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transition electron microscopy (TEM), and absorption spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure, morphology, and optical properties of as-synthesized CdS NCs. It was found that uniform CdS nanorods could be successfully synthesized when the injection and growth temperatures were very high (> $360^{\circ}C$). The aspect ratios of different shaped (bullet-like or rod-like) CdS NCs could be controlled by simply adjusting the molar ratios between Cd and S.

전극물질에 따른 단전극 대기압 제트 플라즈마 스트리머 동역학 연구

  • 대기압 제트 플라즈마를 저주파(수-수십 kHz) 전압에서 구동 시, 일반적으로 '스트리머(streamer)'혹은 '플라즈마 총알(plasma bullet)'로 불리는 현상이 특정 운전조건에서 관찰된다. 본 연구에서는 동일 구조의 Ta, Ti, stainless steel, brass, Cu, Ni 전극을 이용하여 전극물질에 따른 대기압 제트 플라즈마의 특성 변화를 분석하였다. 각각의 물질은 서로 다른 이차전자방출계수, 일함수, 전기전도도 등 고유한 성질이 다르기 때문에 이들 전극을 이용하여 발생시킨 제트 플라즈마 역시 다른 특성을 갖는다. Acton SpectroPro750 분광기를 이용하여 얻은 플라즈마 방출광스펙트럼으로부터 구한 전자 여기온도(Texc=680~720 K)와 OH의 분자 회전온도(Trot=350~380K)는 물질에 따라 큰 변화를 보이지 않았으나, 발생된 스트리머 거동에서 큰 차이를 확인하였다. ICCD 카메라를 이용한 시간 분해된 이미지에서 전극물질에 따른 첫 번째 스트리머의 발생시간 및 스트리머 속력, 두 번째 스트리머의 분리시간이 모두 다른 것을 확인하였다. 제일 차이가 심하게 나타나는 Ti과 Cu의 경우 첫 스트리머의 발생시간 차이는 약 $1{\mu}s$이며, 평균속력 및 순간속력이 약 2 km/s 차이가 났다. 이 결과를 통해 물질의 이차전자방출계수 및 일함수가 대기압 제트 플라즈마에서 스트리머 발생에 영향을 주는 것을 알았고, 다른 전극물질을 사용한 제트 플라즈마의 특성이 다름에 따라 여러 응용에서의 결과에도 영향을 미칠 것이라생각한다.

  • The Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm is the most widely used fitting algorithm. It outperforms simple gradient descent and other conjugate gradient methods in a wide variety of problems. Based on the work of paper[1], we propose a modified Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm for better performance of mobile system. The LM parameter at the $k_{th}$ iteration is chosen ${\mu}=A{\bullet}{\parallel}f(x){\parallel}{\bullet}I$ where f is the residual function, and J is the Jacobi of f. In this paper, we show this method is more efficient than traditional method under the situation that the system iteration is limited.

A Computation Method for Time of Flight in the Anti-Aircraft Gun Fire Control System (대공화기 탄자비행시간 계산 기법)

  • In AAGFCS the effective range is regarded as a range for the bullet's speed exceeding the speed of sound to damage the stationary target. Hence the real engagement range might be extended over the effective range for the approaching target since bullet's relative speed to the target increases depending on the approaching speed. However previous TOF equations have good computation accuracy within the effective range only, and they can not be used above that range due to their bad accuracy. We propose an accurate TOF computation method which can be used both within and above the effective range in real time. Some simulation results are shown to demonstrate usefulness of our algorithm for the 30mm projectile.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and computed tomographic features of 7 cases of maxillofacial gunshot injuries in the suicidal patients visited the emergency room, Capital Armed Forces General Hospital. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The gunshot wounds were directed from submental area to dorsum of nose(3 cases), frontal area(1 case), orbit(1 case), infraorbital area (1 case), and lateral to nasal wing(l case). Numerical analysis of two experiments related to thermal fatigue

  • Jets in cross flow are of fundamental industrial importance and play an important role in validating turbulence models. Two jet configurations related to thermal fatigue phenomena are investigated: ${\bullet}$ T-junction of circular tubes where a heated jet discharges into a cold main flow and ${\bullet}$ Rectangular jet marked by a scalar discharging into a main flow in a rectangular channel. The T-junction configuration is a classical test case for thermal fatigue phenomena. The Vattenfall T-junction experiment was already subject of an OECD/NEA benchmark. A LES modelling and calculation strategy is developed and validated on this data. The rectangular-jet configuration is important for basic physical understanding and modelling and has been analyzed experimentally at CEA. The experimental work was focused on turbulent mixing between a slightly heated rectangular jet which is injected perpendicularly into the cold main flow of a rectangular channel. These experiments are analyzed for the first time with LES. The overall results show a good agreement between the experimental data and the CFD calculation. Mean values of velocity and temperature are well captured by both RANS calculation and LES. The range of critical frequencies and their amplitudes, however, are only captured by LES.

  • Many university campus facilities are recently remodeled to provide the substantial learning rights of handicapped students to embody the dignity and value as man by many campus authorities. This study aims to identify the interior public spaces between entrances and class rooms for handicapped students of S and D campuses. The summaries of this research are as follows. $\bullet$Since S campus was built long years ago before the related law for the handicapped person enacted, it was thought that the campus master plan to consider handicapped students' activations must be established and the campus educational facilities was remodelled by campus master plan. $\bullet$Since D campus was built lately after the related law for them enacted, it was thought that the officer who is responsible for campus facilities for handicapped students put in order it by repair plan every year. By remodelling every year steadily according to each campus master plan, all handicapped students must be guaranteed the same learning rights as normal men to remove obstacles as the upper mentioned imperfections in using exterior campus facilities.

A Study on the Armor Optimization of Military Vehicle (군용차량 방탄재 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • During the land operations, the enemy's gunnery is the primary threat. For the military vehicle, the bulletproof effect is the one of the important issues regarding the safety of soldiers on duty. Recently, the advanced military vehicles have planned to install armor plates. However, due to the budget problem, it is difficult to equip the protection systems. Hence, the optimum approach to increase bulletproof capability is essential. In this paper, the optimum thickness and component of the armor of military vehicles were evaluated by using finite element analysis for bullet impact effects. To achieve this aim, 7.62mm NATO bullet, 1.6mm steel and Kevlar-29 composite have been modeled and the simulations were conducted with various thickness cases by using MSC Nastran sol 700. Consequently, it was revealed that Kevlar-29 45 Layer is appropriate thickness for 7.62 bulletproof. Furthermore, Kevlar-29 in front of steel was effective by comparison with the back of steel for bulletproof.

  • In this paper, a subminiature solid rocket motor(SSRM) was designed to develop a miniature smart-bullet and the designed propellant grain was made of thermoplastic propellant for production convenience of inner shape. The internal ballistics analysis and ground test were performed to investigate the performance of SSRM. And a numerical simulation was carried out to obtain basic data on the design of safety distance between the nozzle outlet and a gunner, the temperature distribution of exhaust gas was analyzed by comparing a numerical simulation and the results of IR camera.
