The construction industry has been evolving with the development of information technology. According to this trend, the current industry changes from 2d drawings to Building Information Modeling(BIM). Current studies on the BIM-based estimation have problems such as Quantity Take-Off(QTO) specificity toward a particular software, the uncertainty of the amount in accordance with the model quality. These studies focus on QTO based on BIM rather than schematic estimation. In addition, studies on the connection with the QTO and unit cost for schematic estimation are insufficient. The purpose of this study is to propose schematic estimation process by utilizing construction codes and QTO in architectural object BIM libraries. Construction codes are classified in detail in order to input codes inside each. This study has connected unit cost and construction classification codes that obtain from BIM model. The results of this study will be helpful in decision-making and communication for schematic estimation of the design phase. It will improve the efficiency and reliability problems of existing schematic estimation.

In the ship building industry, the generation of a structural analysis model, that is, a finite element model of a hull structure, has been manually performed by a designer and thus has required lots of time as compared with that of a mechanical part, because of many constraints, the complexity, and the huge size of the hull structure. To make this task automatic, a generation method of the structural analysis model is proposed through the reconstruction of the topological information of a hull structural model in this study. The applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated by applying it to the generation of the structural analysis model of a deadweight 300,000ton VLCC(Very Large Crude oil Carrier).

High-rise buildings have recently increased over the residential, commercial and office facilities, thus an understanding of construction cost for high-rise building projects has been a fundamental issue due to enormous construction cost as well as unpredictable market conditions and fluctuations in the rate of inflation by long-term construction periods of high-rise projects. Especially, recent violent fluctuations of construction material prices add to problems in construction cost forecasting. This research, therefore, develops a time-series model with the Box-Jenkins methodologies and material prices time-series data in Korea in order to forecast future trends of unit prices of required materials. BIM (Building Information Modeling) approaches are also used to analyze injection time of construction resources and to conduct quantity takeoff so that total material price can be forecasted. Comparative analysis of Predictability of tentative ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) models was conducted to determine optimal time-series model for forecasting future price trends. Proposed BIM based time series forecasting model can help to deal with sudden changes in economic conditions by estimating future material prices.

In each industry field, many engineers have tried to develop integrated environments using information technology. The core technology in building integrated environments is the database based on standardized information. To meet the requirements, this study builds a database with detailed design information as a part of integrating digital information generated from every work of steel bridges. The data model used to build the database was developed based on the international standard, namely ISO/STEP. The data model is classified into geometric and non-geometric parts to represent the design information of steel bridges. The geometric parts are represented by a three dimensional solid model so that they may be able to reuse existing information. Also, the non-geometric parts represent information requirements that are analyzed by the development method of standard data model. To verify the data model, this study validates the syntax of the model on EXPRESS Engine and verifies the validation of the model by applying the design data of Hannam bridge to the database.
In this research a suspended solid transport experiment was conducted in the river experiment center to find the characteristics and dispersion of the material. Modeling by the particle dispersion model was also executed to reproduce the suspended solid transport. The suspended solid was consisted of a mixture of silica and water using a mixing equipment, which was then introduced into a real-scale flume and measured with the laser-diffraction based particle size analyzer(LISST) to find the concentration of the material. The comparison between the measured suspended solid concentration using drone images and particle size analyzers, with the model showed a good match overall, which proved the applicability of the model. Along with finding the model applicability, the research showed the potential for suspended solid estimation in high flow situations with high rainfall.

In this paper, we propose the framework of a visual language named VIOLA(VIsual Object-oriented Language for Multimedia Applications), which is developed for web authoring. VIOLA supports the user to construct HTML documents and CGI programs even if he/she doesn't know exact HTML tags and CGI programming. VIOLA, a user interface building part and a programming logic building part are combined by the data-flow model. the user interface building part provides direct manipulation and a WSIKWYG interface, and the program logic building part provides more intuitive interface by using predefined classes and the data-flow model. thus, even a novice user can construct sophisticated applications by simply moving or clicking the mouse. several classes which generate CGI codes are predefined, and they are represented with highly abstracted visual components, By reusing predefined classes, CGI codes are automatically generated. In VIOLA, all major steps in builidng generated wit HTML documents and Java CGI programs.

A simple and an improved methods for the assessment of flood damage were used in previous studies, and the Multi-Dimensional Flood Damage Assessment (MD-FDA) has been applied since 2004 in Korea. This study evaluated flood damage of dam downstream using considering MD-FDA method based on GIS data. Firstly, flood water level with FLDWAV (Flood Wave routing) model was input into cross section layer based on enforcement drainage algorithm, water depth grid data were created through spatial calculation with DEM data. The value of asset of building and agricultural land according to local government was evaluated using building layer from digital map and agricultural land map from landcover map. Also, itemized flood damage was calculated by unit price to building shape, evaluated value of housewares to urban type, unit cost to crop, tangible and inventory asset of company connected with building, agricultural land, flooding depth layer. Flood damage in rainfall frequency of 200 year showed 1.19, 1.30 and 1.96 times to flood damage in rainfall frequency of 100 year, 50 year and 10 year respectively by flood damage analysis.

This study is centered on the combined use of LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) and AR(Augmented Reality) technologies during vertical and horizontal frame measurements in construction projects. The intention is to enhance the quality control procedure, elevate accuracy, and curtail manual labor along with time expenditure. Present methods for accuracy inspection in frame construction often grapple with reliability concerns due to subjective interpretation and the scope for human error. This research recommends the application of LiDAR and AR technologies to counter these issues and augment the efficiency of the inspection process, along with facilitating the dissemination of results. The suggested technique involves the collection of 3D point cloud data of the frame utilizing LiDAR and leveraging this data for checks on construction accuracy. Furthermore, the inspection outcomes are fed into a BIM (Building Information Modeling) model, and the results are visualized via AR. Upon juxtaposing this methodology with the current approach, it is evident that it offers benefits in terms of objective inspection, speed, precise result sharing, and potential enhancements to the overall quality and productivity of construction projects.

Recent advancements in Building Information Modeling(BIM) have significantly impacted the construction industry, driving competitiveness and innovation. However, rebar construction, a critical component influencing project quality and cost, has lagged behind in BIM adoption. Traditional methods relying heavily on 2D drawings for rebar detailing have hindered efficiency and introduced potential errors. This paper presents a novel system designed to automate the detailed modeling of rebar, thereby promoting BIM integration within rebar construction and optimizing construction management processes. The system leverages confirmed structural drawings from the post-structural design phase to automatically generate intricate rebar models for columns and beams. To ensure adherence to domestic structural design standards, the system is developed using C# programming language and the Revit API. By automating rebar modeling, this system aims to minimize human error, reduce labor-intensive tasks, and enhance overall rebar construction efficiency through the effective utilization of generated rebar model data.

This paper presents an algorithm of local map building for autonomous robot navigation using LASER range finder information. We develop a model of sensor output for a LASER range finder, and obtain an output data of the LASER range finder for a given environment. From the output data, a local map is obtained through the following procedures: (1) filtering of output data to remove noisy and unnecessary data, (2) comparison of filtered data with the original data to restore useful data, (3) thickening of the map obtained from the restored data, and (4) skeletonizing of the thickened map to get a final local map. Through some simulation studies, a map is obtained from the LASER range finder information for a given indoor environment, and is compared with the environment.
