사물인터넷을 위한 새로운 임베디드 메모리 시스템 (New Embedded Memory System for IoT)

  • Recently, an embedded flash memory has been widely used for the Internet of Things(IoT). Due to its nonvolatility, economical feasibility, stability, low power usage, and fast speed. With respect to power consumption, the embedded memory system must consider the most significant design factor. The objective of this research is to design high performance and low power NAND flash memory architecture including a dual buffer as a replacement for NOR flash. Simulation shows that the proposed NAND flash system can achieve better performance than a conventional NOR flash memory. Furthermore, the average memory access time of the proposed system is better that of other buffer systems with three times more space. The use of a small buffer results in a significant reduction in power consumption.

  • We have studied electrical properties and luminous efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) with different buffer layer and cathodes in a temperature range of 10 K and 300 K. Four different device structures were made. The OLEDs are based on the molecular compounds, N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD) as a hole transport, tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminum(III) (Alq$_3$) as an electron transport and omissive layer, and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) :poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS ) as a buffer layer. And LiAl was used as a cathode. Among the devices, the ITO/PEDOT:PSS/TPD/Alq$_3$/LiAl structure has a low energy-barrier height for charge injection and show a good luminous efficiency. We have got a highly efficient and low-voltage operating device using the conductive PEDOT:PSS and low work-function LiAl. From current-voltage characteristics with temperature variation, conduction mechanisms are explained SCLC (space charge limited current) and tunneling one. We have also studied energy barrier height and luminous efficiency at various temperature.

자연환경 보전지역 설정기준에 관한 기초연구 (Basic Study on Criteria for Setting Natural Conservation Area)

  • This study aims at analyzing the development status of surroundings of natural environment conservation areas and securing an adequate distance from development activities to conserve natural environment conservation areas efficiently or developing an improvement plan for setting conservation areas. Findings from the study shows that 1) rather than simply designating a legal natural environment conservation area, a conceptual scope approach of a "core area", "buffer area", and "transition area" such as in zoning of a "biosphere reserve" by UNESCO is recommended; 2) when setting an adequate range in a natural environment conservation area, it should be set by fully considering locational situation and the regional and environmental features of surroundings rather than setting a certain distance uniformly; 3) instead of designating wetlands only as a conservation area, entry and exit areas should be also included as buffer areas and in the case of wild animals, not only habitats but also feeding areas should be designated as conservation areas; and 4) an adequate horizontal separation space is important in the case of ground development, but for natural resources related to subterranean water and geological situation such as wetlands, an adequate vertical separation space should be fully considered.

  • CPU, 네트웍 대역폭, 디스크 속도등 컴퓨터와 통신 기반을 이루는 기반기술의 급진적인 발달에 따라, 컴퓨터 또는 단말기로 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 받는 것이 이제는 우리 생활의 일부분이 되었다. 이러한 급속한 서비스 저변의 확대에도 불구하고 아직도 고화질 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하는 데 있어서 많은 기술적인 문제가 존재하는 것이 현실이라고 할 수 있겠다. 그 중의 하나로 멀티미디어 정보를 디스크로부터 읽어들여 실시간 상영하는 경우, 과도한 주기억 장치 버퍼의 요구가 문제점으로 등장한다. 주기억 장치 버퍼가 필요한 이유는 디스크는 자료를 비동기적으로 읽는데 반해 멀티미디어 데이터(프레임)를 상영하는 방법은 동기적으로 행해지므로 두 가지 특성이 다른 작업간에 비동기성을 해결하기 위함이다. 사용자에게 스트리밍 데이터를 전송하는 방법에는 두 가지 (디스크에서 읽어들이는 방법 : 디스크 모드와 기존에 메모리에 탑재된 데이터를 재 전송하는 방법 : 메모리 모드)가 있는데, 각 방법에 따라 필요로 하는 주기억 장치 버퍼의 양이 다르다. 본 연구에서는 각 방법에 따른 주기억 장치 요구량을 계산하는 모델을 개발하고, 전체 버퍼양을 최소화하도록 자료 전송방법을 가변적으로 변환시키는 기법을 소개한다. 본 기법의 가장 큰 장점은 각 비디오 세션의 데이터 전송하는 방법이 서버의 상태에 따라서 가변적으로 변환된다는 사실이다. 본 기법은 대용량 비디오 서버에서 다수의 멀티미디어 세션을 상영하는 데 필요한 버퍼 양을 효과적으로 감소 시킬수 있으며, 특히 사용자들의 주문이 소수의 화일들에게 집중되어 있는 경우 더욱 효과적으로 작동하고 있다. 제안된 기법의 근간이 되는 이론들의 구체적인 모델링이 제공되었으며, 본 기법이 항상 최적의 해를 구한다는 사실은 증명을 통해 보여진다. 주창되는 기법의 효율성과 성능을 시뮬레이션을 통해서 검증한다.

Fast Generation of Stereoscopic Virtual Environment Display Using P-buffer

  • This paper is concerned with an efficient generation of stereoscopic views for complex virtual environments by exploiting frame coherence in visibility. The basic idea is to keep visible polygons throughout the rendering process. P-buffer, a buffer of image size, holds the id of the visible polygon for each pixel. This contrasts to the frame buffer and the Z-buffer which hold the color information and the depth information, respectively. For the generation of a consecutive image, the position and the orientation of the visible polygons in the current view are updated according to the viewer's movements, and re-rendered on the current image under the assumption that, when the viewer moves slightly, the visibility of polygons remains unchanged. In the case of stereoscopic views, it may not introduce much difficulty when we render the right(left) image using visible polygons on the (right) image only, The less difference in two images is, the easier the matching becomes in perceiving depth. Some psychophysical experiments have been conducted to support this claim. The computational complexity for generating a fight(left) image from the previous left(right) image is bounded by the size of image space, and accordingly. It is somewhat independent of the complexity of the 3-D scene.

A Garbage Collection Method for Flash Memory Based on Block-level Buffer Management Policy

  • Flash memory has become the most important storage media in mobile devices along with its attractive features such as low power consumption, small size, light weight, and shock resistance. However, a flash memory can not be written before erased because of its erase-before-write characteristic, which lead to some garbage collection when there is not enough space to use. In this paper, we propose a novel garbage collection scheme, called block-level buffer garbage collection. When it is need to do merge operation during garbage collection, the proposed scheme does not merge the data block and corresponding log block but also search the block-level buffer to find the corresponding block which will be written to flash memory in the next future, and then decide whether merge it in advance or not. Our experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the flash performance up to 4.6% by reducing the unnecessary block erase numbers and page copy numbers.

  • 고준위폐기물처분장에서 벤토나이트완충재는 공학적방벽의 중요한 구성요소 중 하나이다. 벤토나이트완충재는 방사성폐기물로부터의 붕괴열, 주위 암반으로부터의 지하수 유입, 고밀도로 압축된 벤토나이트 자체의 높은 팽윤압에 의해 큰 영향을 받는다. 그러므로 벤토나이트완충재의 열-수리-역학적 특성 이해와 평가모델의 입력데이터 확보는 고준위폐기물처분장의 성능 및 안전성 평가를 위해서 선행되어야 할 중요한 과제이다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라 고준위폐기물처분장 완충재 후보물질을 대상으로 지금까지 수행된 열-수리-역학적 특성을 분석하고, 기준벤토나이트완충재 조건을 설정하여, 이 조건에 부합되는 벤토나이트완충재의 열-수리-역학적 특성치를 제시하였다.

그래픽스 하드웨어를 이용한 입체 스윕 경계 근사 (Approximating 3D General Sweep Boundary using Graphics Hardware)

  • This paper presents a practical technique for approximating the boundary surface of the volume swept out by three-dimensional objects using the depth-buffer. Objects may change their geometries and orientations while sweeping. The sweep volume is approximated as a union of volume elements, which are just rendered inside appropriate viewing frusta of virtual cameras and mapped into screen viewports with depth-buffer. From the depth of each pixel in the screen space of each rendering, the corresponding point in the original world space can be computed. Appropriately connecting these points yields polygonal faces forming polygonal surface patches approximately covering some portion of the sweep volume. Each view frustum adds one or more surface patches in this way, and these presumably overlapped polygonal surface patches approximately enclose the whole sweep volume. These patches may further be processed to yield non-overlapped polygonal surfaces as an approximation to the boundary of the original 3D sweep volume.
