As demand for high speed Internet service has explosively increased in the United States for the past decade, the construction or upgrades of telecommunication infrastructure has also been rapidly followed. Though currently many people in urbanized areas can be provided advanced broadband services, there are still challengeable areas to be served, such as remote or low populated areas because those areas are potentially non-profitable to commercial broadband service providers. This paper addresses the spatial disparity or in a broader term, the 'digital divide' of the broadband access by the county level in the United States. We propose the quantified measure of the county level broadband accessibility for identifying such digital divide. The developed measure is a hybrid form of the classical gravity based potential model and network topological accessibility, encouraged from the lack of prior efforts eying to explicitly incorporate the understanding of the whole process of the Internet access. The computational tasks are performed in a GIS platform, which includes several programmed functions.

The workgroup of IEEE 802 proposed the IEEE 802.16 standard, also known as WiMAX, to provide broadband wireless access (BWA). The standard specifies two operational modes, one is popular PMP mode, and the other is optional mesh mode. In the mesh mode, the network entry process-NetEntry is the pivotal procedure for mesh network topology formulation and thus, influences the accessibility of whole mesh network. Unfortunately, the NetEntry process suffers from the hidden neighbor problem, in which new neighborship emerges after a new node comes in and results in possible collisions. In this paper, we propose a new SN-protected NetEntry process to address the problem. Simulation results show that the new proposed NetEntry process is more stable compared with the standard-based NetEntry process.

Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) is the next drive in the broadband mobile communication, which allows operators to improve networks performance and service capabilities. LTE-A targets the peak data rates of 1Gbps in the downlink and 500Mbps in the uplink. This requirement is only fulfilled by a transmission bandwidth of up to 100MHz. However the accessibility of such large part of the contiguous spectrum is uncommon in practice. Therefore LTE-A uses some new features on top of the existing LTE standards to provide very high data rate transmission. Some of the most significant features introduced in LTE-A are carrier aggregation, heterogeneous network enhancement, coordinated multipoint transmission and reception, enhanced multiple input and multiple output, and development relay nodes with universal frequency reuse. This review paper presents an overview of the above mentioned LTE-A key features and functionalities. Based on this review, in the conclusion we discuss the current technical challenges for future broadband mobile communication systems.

This paper we introduce operated public test-bed satellite system configuration for satellite communications and usage for services via COMS(Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite). According to trial public test-bed operation, the broadband multimedia services are expected to be available at the next generation VSAT services due to the increasing of Ka-band utilization. In addition, UHD broadcasting services via satellite is expected to improve the universal accessibility of broadcast services.

The Indonesian e-commerce market has grown significantly due to sustained economic growth, middle class growth, rapid increase in Internet and SNS users, and increase in accessibility of mobile broadband services. In particular, consumers' online shopping through mobile and SNS has been increasing rapidly based on the expansion of the popularity of smart phone devices. This research suggested the strategies for expanding exports of Indonesia through e-commerce platform to the Korean firms, with deep analysis of the current status and features, problems, cases, and implications etc. of Indonesia's e-commerce market. As an export expansion strategy utilizing Indonesia's e-commerce platform, this study showed the Korean firms have to build a local online distribution network, establish a logistics & delivery and payment system, acquire Halal certification for Muslim market, carry out the in-depth market research, actively implement Hanryu marketing strategy, develop a creative product, set up market segmentation strategies, and develop SNS mobile marketing.
