3차원 자유표면 유동의 수치 시뮬레이션 (Numerical Simulation of Three Dimensional Free Surface Flow)

  • For the tracking of three dimensional free surface motions, a method referred to as the Volume of Fluid(VOF) algorithm is extended. In order to calculate the slope of three dimensional free surface which is the most important for the advection algorithm that decides the amount of fluid from cell to cell and for the application of free surface boundary condition, a simple method utilizing two dimensional slope informations is introduced. The extended algroithm is tested by demonstrating the simulation of a propagating sinusoidal wave through the channel whose width changes abruptly.

  • A finger language helping hearing impaired people in communication A sign language helping hearing impaired people in communication is not popular to ordinary healthy people. In this paper, we propose a method for real-time sign language recognition from a vision system using color information and fuzzy clustering system. We use YCbCr color model and canny mask to decide the position of hands and the boundary lines. After extracting regions of two hands by applying 8-directional contour tracking algorithm and morphological information, the system uses FCM in classifying sign language signals. In experiment, the proposed method is proven to be sufficiently efficient.

  • Wave breaking phenomenon near the fore body of a ship is numerically simulated. The ship advance with uniform velocity in calm water. For the simulation, incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and continuity equation are adopted as governing equations. The simulation is carried out in staggered variable mesh system with finite difference method. Marker and Cell(MAC) method and Marker-Density method are employed to track the free surface. Body boundary conditions are satisfied with the adoption of porosity method and no-slip condition on the hull surface. The ship model has a wedge type fore-body, and the computational domain is an appropriate region around the fore-body. The computation results are compared with some experimental results. Also the difference of the free surface tracking methods are discussed.

  • This paper presents a new control scheme that combines a sliding mode control and a neural network. In the proposed sliding mode control, a continuous control is employed removing the switching phenomena and the equivalent control within the boundary layer is estimated through on-line teaming of the neural network. The performances of the proposed control are compared with off-line neural network and on-line neural sliding mode control by computer simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed control reduces high frequency chattering and tracking error in example of the two link manipulator.

  • A three-dimensional surface is reconstructed from contour information as identified on two-dimensional computed tomographic slices. Gradient operator with curvature constraint would be applied to extract the contour automatically, and backtracking is also adopted to reduce the tracking error. The surface between the consecutive slice is efficiently reconstructed using a triangular surface tiles. Hidden surface elimination, shading and parallel projection of the reconstructed surface are provied on the display screen.

DTTL 비트동기장치의 평균시간지연 편차 성능에 관한 연구 (Mean time delay variation performane of DTTL bit synchronizer)

  • The measured pulse shapes provided in the given data package demonstrated pulse distortions due to laser speckle. the distorted pulse shapes were carefully analyzed, modeled, and then applied to the DTTL(Digital-data Transition Tracking Loop)[1] bit synchronizer simulator to measure the mean time delay and its delay variation performance. The result showed that the maximum mean time delay variation with the modeled data was 12.5% when window size equals 1. All the data given were located within this modeled boundary and the maximum eman time delay variation was 7% in this case. The mean time delay variation was known to be smaller by reducing the window size [2][5][6]. The mitigated delay variation was 2.5% in the modeled case and 1.4% in the data set given when the windown size equals 0.1. With the digital DTTL insteal of analog DTTL, similar results was obtained.

  • Jeha Ryu Department of Mechatronics, Kwangju Institute of Science and Technology This paper presents an application of a robust adaptive control strategy to HexaSlide type six degrees-of-freedom parallel manipulators. The HexaSlide type parallel manipulators are characterized as an architecture with constant link lengths that are attached to moving sliders on the ground and to a mobile platform. The proposed control law is developed based on a simplified second order system dynamic equation in joint space with uncertain mass, damper, spring, and Coulomb friction terms. These uncertain parameters are updated by an adaptation law that is derived by Lyapunov stability theorem. A robust adaptive control law by using the boundary layer is designed for the purpose of compensating for the neglected dynamic effects of the mobile platform and the six moving links that are modeled as a disturbance term. Experimental results show good and fast tracking performance.

LIGHT-CONE EFFECT OF RADIATION FIELDS IN COSMOLOGICAL RADIATIVE TRANSFER SIMULATIONS

  • We present a novel method to implement time-delayed propagation of radiation fields in cosmological radiative transfer simulations. Time-delayed propagation of radiation fields requires construction of retarded-time fields by tracking the location and lifetime of radiation sources along the corresponding light-cones. Cosmological radiative transfer simulations have, until now, ignored this "light-cone effect" or implemented ray-tracing methods that are computationally demanding. We show that radiative transfer calculation of the time-delayed fields can be easily achieved in numerical simulations when periodic boundary conditions are used, by calculating the time-discretized retarded-time Green's function using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method and convolving it with the source distribution. We also present a direct application of this method to the long-range radiation field of Lyman-Werner band photons, which is important in the high-redshift astrophysics with first stars.

  • The present study is concerned with the hydrostatic extrusion process of copper-clad aluminium bar to investigate the basic flow characteristics. Considering the bonding mechanism of bi-metal contact surface as cold pressure welding, the normal pressure and the contact surface expansion are selected as process parameters governing the bonding condition. The critical pressure required for the bonding at the interface is obtained by solving a "local extrusion" using a slip line meyhod. A viscoplastic finite element method is used to analyze the steady state extrusion process. The boundary profile of bi-metal rod is predicted by tracking a particle path adjacent to interface surface. The variations of contact surface area and the normal pressure along the interface profile are predicted and compared to those by experiments.

  • The Lagrangian dispersion of fluid particles in inhomogeneous turbulence is investigated by a direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flow. Four points Hermite interpolation in the homogeneous direction and Chebyshev polynomials in the inhomogeneous direction is adopted to simulate the fluid particle dispersion. An inhomogeneity of Lagrangian statistics in turbulent boundary layer is investigated by releasing many particles at several different wall-normal locations and tracking those particles. The fluid particle dispersions and Lagrangian structure functions of velocity are scaled by the Kolmogorov similarity. The auto-correlations of velocity and acceleration are shown at the different releasing locations. Effect of initial particle location on the dispersion is analyzed by the probability density function at the several downstreams and time instants.
