연약지반 굴착사면의 안정해석 (Stability Analysis of Excavation Slope on Soft Ground)

  • 연약지반상에 시공되는 용 배수로 굴착사면의 안정문제를 구명하기 위하여 굴착사면의 경사에 따른 지반의 거동을 한계평형법 및 유한요소법에 의하여 해석하고 실제 현장실험과 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 수로에서 수위를 급강하시켰을 때 과잉공극수압의 영향으로 균열이 발생하였고, 그 이후에 공극수압의 감소는 완만하게 나타났다. 2. 연직굴착시는 굴착폭이 클수록 균열의 폭도 커지고, 굴착깊이가 깊어지면서 진행성 파괴형태를 나타냈다. 3. 연약지반에서 소규모의 굴착공사를 할 때 최소안전율은 굴착사면의 경사(1:1, 1:1.5, 1:2)보다는 점착력(1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, $3.0t/m^2$)에 더 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 4. 굴착이 진행되면서 소성영역이 발달하는 상부사면에서는 침하가 발생하였으며, 굴착저면에서는 히빙현상이 나타났다. 5. 최대전단응력은 저부지반으로 갈수록 크게 나타났으며, 이와같은 현상은 인장영역을 발생시켜서 국부적인 파괴 가능성을 증가시킴을 알 수 있었다. 6. 최대전단변형은 굴착깊이에 따라 증가하며, 굴착저면에서 가장 큰값을 나타내고 굴착사면의 중앙저부에 집중되는 분포형태를 나타냈다.

금강 하구역 점착성 퇴적물 침식특성의 지엽적·계절적 변화 해석 (Analyses on Local-Seasonal Variations of Erosional Properties of Cohesive Sediments in Keum Estuary)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 금강하구의 표층에 분포하는 점착성 퇴적물의 침식매개변수를 정량적으로 산정하는 것이다. 또한 본 연구는 침식매개변수들의 금강하구역 내에서의 지엽적 계절적 변화에 대한 조사와 타 지역 분석 결과와의 비교/분석을 통한 공간적 변화에 대한 조사를 포함한다. 점착성 퇴적물의 침식특성은 기본적으로 퇴적물 자체의 물리 화학적 특성에 의해 크게 영향을 받으므로, 본 연구는 또한 퇴적물의 이러한 기본특성이 침식특성에 미치는 영향에 대한 정성적 분석을 포함한다. 침식실험은 전북대 환형수조를 이용하여 균일저면 조건하에서 수행되었으며, 저면밀도와 바닥전단응력을 변화시키면서 총 16회의 실험이 수행되었다. 실험결과에 따르면, 금강하구역 점착성 퇴적물은 저면밀도 $1.14{\sim}1.38g/cm^3$ 범위에서 침식한계전단응력(${\tau}_{ce,s}$)은 $0.19{\sim}0.41N/m^2$, 침식률 계수(${\varepsilon}_{M,s}$)는 $54.26{\sim}7.70mg/cm^2{\cdot}hr$ 범위의 값을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 산정된 침식 매개변수들은 타 지역 점착성 퇴적물과 비교시 정량적으로 그 값이 크게 다른 것으로 나타났으나, 금강하구역 내에서의 지엽적/계절적 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.

절곡강판을 이용한 교량용 강-콘크리트 합성 바닥판의 피로 성능평가 (Fatigue Strength Evaluation of Steel-Concrete Composite Bridge Deck with Corrugated Steel Plate)

  • 본 연구는 하부 절곡강판과 T형강을 D16mm 스터드 전단연결재를 이용하여 콘크리트와 일체화시킨 교량용 강합성 바닥판의 피로 거동 및 피로성능을 평가하기 위한 것이다. 제안된 강합성 바닥판의 피로성능 평가를 위하여 총 8본의 시험체가 제작되었으며, 각각의 시험체에 3 종류의 일정진폭을 가진 피로하중이 재하되었다. 피로실험결과, 피로균열은 강합성 바닥판 하부 절곡강판의 절곡점에서 발생하여 상부 T형강으로 진전되는 것으로 나타났으며, 피로하중에 따라 시험체의 변위 및 변형률이 증가하고 피로균열발생 후 변위와 변형률이 급격히 변화하였다. 제안된 강합성 바닥판의 피로강도는 도로교설계기준 및 도로교설계기준 피로상세 범주의 자료가 된 NCHRP 102와 NCHRP 147 보고서의 피로실험결 과와 비교하여 평가한 결과 대상 강합성 바닥판은 피로상세 범주 C에 해당하는 것으로 평가되었다.

VORTEX STRUCTURE IN THE SCOUR HOLE BY GATE OPENING OF HYDRAULIC STRUCTURE

  • Jet flow can occur by gate opening at downstream of a hydraulic structure such as weir of drainage gate. If the stream bed is not hard or the bed protection is not sufficient, vortex erosion occurs and a resulting scour hole will be formed due to the high shear stress of the jet flow. Once the scour hole is formed, a vortex occurs in ti and this vortex causes additional erosion. If this erosion continues and reaches to the hydraulic structure, it can undermine the bottom of the hydraulic structure and this will lead to failure of the structure itself. Thus, it is necessary to define the physical features of the vortex structure in the scour hole for the design of the bed protection. This study presents the turbulent vortex structure in the scour hole by the gate opening of the hydraulic structure. Characteristics of vortex motion, circulation, vortex scale and vortex were analyzed through experiments. Experimental results of the vortex velocity were compared with theoretical ones. From these, circulation and vortex scale were obtained with known values of inflow depth, inflow velocity and scale of scour hole

봅슬레이 범퍼 형상에 대한 공력학적 연구 (AERODYNAMIC STUDY ON BOBSLEIGH BUMPER SHAPE)

  • A parametric study on the shapes of bobsleigh bumpers has been performed to reduce the aerodynamic drag. Effects of geometric parameters, such as leading angle of leading bumper, the ratio of minimum width to maximum width of leading bumper, the ratio of leading bumper length to trailing bumper length, trailing angle of trailing bumper, and the ratio of bumper height to installation location of bumper from the bottom of bobsleigh, on the aerodynamic performance of the bobsleigh were estimated using 3-D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The turbulence was analyzed using the shear stress turbulence model. Reynolds number based on the hydraulic diameter of the external flow channel was in the range of 150,000~1,000,000. Numerical results for drag coefficient were validated compared to experimental data. Ranges of the five geometric parameters were determined according to the rule of Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobaganning. The aerodynamic performance of the bobsleigh sled was most sensitive to the leading angle of leading bumper and the ratio of minimum width to maximum width of leading bumper.

관통SCP와 미관통SCP로 개량된 지반의 시공단계별 거동 특성 (Behavioral Characteristics of Improved Ground by Fully Penetrated and Partially Penetrated SCP according to Construction Stage)

  • 본 연구에서는 SCP공법을 이용하여 관통된 SCP지반과 미관통된 SCP지반에 대하여 수치해석을 수행하였다. 해석프로그램으로는 지반공학 실무에 많이 사용되고 있는 MIDAS GTS를 사용하였다. 해석방법은 시공단계를 성토완료 후와 방치기간 365일 후의 지반에 대한 지표면 변위와 유효응력, 간극수압을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 전단파괴에 대한 안전성을 고려하여 성토중앙 아래 구간에는 미관통시켜도 관통SCP지반과 유사한 효과가 발생되었다.

Coupled electro-elastic analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric material plates

  • A unified formulation of finite layer methods (FLMs), based on the Reissner mixed variational theorem (RMVT), is developed for the three-dimensional (3D) coupled electro-elastic analysis of simply-supported, functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) plates with open- and closed-circuit surface conditions and under electro-mechanical loads. In this formulation, the material properties of the plate are assumed to obey an exponent-law varying exponentially through the thickness coordinate, and the plate is divided into a number of finite rectangular layers, in which the trigonometric functions and Lagrange polynomials are used to interpolate the in- and out-of-plane variations of the primary field variables of each individual layer, respectively, such as the elastic displacement, transverse shear and normal stress, electric potential, and normal electric displacement components. The relevant orders used for expanding these variables in the thickness coordinate can be freely chosen as the linear, quadratic and cubic orders. Four different mechanical/electrical loading conditions applied on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate are considered, and the corresponding coupled electro-elastic analysis of the loaded FGPM plates is undertaken. The accuracy and convergence rate of the RMVT-based FLMs are assessed by comparing their solutions with the exact 3D piezoelectricity ones available in the literature.

반 잠수식 복수부선의 진수설계 (Development of float off Operation Design for Mdlti Semi-submersible Barges with Symmetrical Stability Casings)

  • This paper presents the design concept and operation results of float-off for FSO (340,000 DWT Class, ELF AMENAM KPONO Project) built on the ground, without dry dock facilities. It was the first attempt to build FSO, completely, on the ground and launch it using DBU (Double Barge Unit, which was connected by rigid frame structure.) The major characteristics of FSO, which are similar to general VLCC type hull, including topside structure, weigh 51,000 metric ton. In order to have sufficient stability during the deck immersion of DBU, while passing through a minimum water plane area zone, proper trim control was completed with LMC (Load Master Computer). The major features of the monitoring system include calculation for transverse bending moment, shear force, local strength check of each connector, based on component stress, and deformation check during the load-out and float-off. Another major concern during the operation was to avoid damages at the bottom and sides of FSO, due to motion & movement after free-floating; therefore, adequate clearances between DBU and FSO were to be provided, and guide posts were installed to prevent side damage of the DBU casings. This paper also presents various measures that indecate the connector bending moment, damage stability analysis, and mooring of DBU during float off.

내진 연구를 위한 전단상자 제작기술 개발 (Development of Laminar Box Manufacturing Technique for Earthquake Engineering)

  • One major problem in the model testing is the boundary effect and size effect caused by the limit in the size of the container. To overcome this problem, various types of laminar boxes are gradually manufactured and used in the shaking table test, which ideally has zero stiffness to horizontal shear. In this study, a small-scale laminar box is manufactured, which is composed of 6 thin aluminum rectangular hollow plates, and its inside dimensions are 300 mm length by 200 mm width by 350 mm depth. Shaking table tests are performed both with the laminar box and the rigid box under the same conditions, where displacements and accelerations are measured at various points of the box and model ground. As result of analyzing the measured data, during the propagation of input seismic motion from the bottom to the ground surface, the relative displacement of the model ground and the amplification of acceleration is hardly amplified in the rigid box. Because of the effect of stress waves reflecting from the rigid wall, the acceleration is slightly decreased at the edge in the rigid box. The laminar box, manufactured in this study, has a problem in that the soil behavior at the edge of ground surface is affected by the inertia force of the top layer due to its excessive self-weight.

Performance of steel beams strengthened with pultruded CFRP plate under various exposures

  • The use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) to strengthen steel structures has attracted the attention of researchers greatly. Previous studies demonstrated bonding of CFRP plates to the steel sections has been a successful method to increase the mechanical properties. However, the main limitation to popular use of steel/CFRP strengthening system is the concern on durability of bonding between steel and CFRP in various environmental conditions. The paper evaluates the performance of I-section steel beams strengthened with pultruded CFRP plate on the bottom flange after exposure to diverse conditions including natural tropical climate, wet/dry cycles, plain water, salt water and acidic solution. Four-point bending tests were performed at specific intervals and the mechanical properties were compared to the control beam. Besides, the ductility of the strengthened beams and distribution of shear stress in adhesive layer were investigated thoroughly. The study found the adhesive layer was the critical part and the performance of the system related directly to its behavior. The highest strength degradation was observed for the beams immersed in salt water around 18% after 8 months exposure. Besides, the ductility of all strengthened beams increased after exposure. A theoretical procedure was employed to model the degradation of epoxy adhesive.
