도재 수리시스템에 따른 도재와 복합레진의 전단결합강도 (SHEAR BOND STRENGTHS OF COMPOSITE RESIN TO PORCELAINS AMONG PORCELAIN REPAIR SYSTEMS)

  • Purpose: This in vitro study evaluated shear bond strengths of surface treatment porcelains with four porcelain repair systems simulating intraoral bonding of composite resin to feldspathic porcelain or pressable porcelain. Material and methods: Eighty Porcelain disks were prepared. Group A: forty disk specimens were fabricated with Feldspathic Porcelain($Omega^{(R)}900$, Vident, Menlo Park, CA, USA). Group B: forty disk specimens were fabricated with Pressable Porcelain(IPS Empress 2 ingot, Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein, Germany). Each groups was divided into 4 subgroups and composite resin cylinders were bonded to specimen with one of the following four systems: Clearfil Porcelain Bond(L. Morita, Tustin, CA, USA), Ulradent Porcelain Etch. (Ultradent, Salt Lake City UT, USA), Porcelain Liner-M(Sun Medical Co., Kyoto, Japan), Cimara Kit(Voco, Germany). After surface conditioning with one of the four porcelain repair systems substrate surfaces of the specimen were examined microscopically(SEM). Shear bond strengths of specimens for each subgroup were determined with a universal testing machine (5mm/min crosshead speed) after storing them in distilled water at $37{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. Stress at failure was measured in $MP_a$, and mode of failure was recorded. Differences among four repair systems were analyzed with two way ANOVA and Duncan test at the 95% significance level. Results: In the scanning electron photomicrograph of the treated porcelain surface, hydrofluoric acid etched group appeared the highest roughness. The shear bond strength of the phosphoric acid etched group was not significantly(p>0.05) different between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain. But in no treatment and roughened with a bur group, the shear bond strength of the feldspathic porcelain was significantly higher than that of the pressable porcelain. In hydrofluoric acid etched group, the shear bond strength of the pressable porcelain was significantly higher(p<0.05). Conclusion: 1. Treatment groups showed significantly greater shear bond strengths than no treatment group(p<0.05). 2. Group with more roughened porcelain surface did not always show higher shear bond strengths. 3. In phosphoric acid etched group, there was no significant difference in shear bond strength between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain(p>0.05). However in the other groups, there were significant differences in shear bond strengths between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain(p<0.05).

볼트 균열 홀을 갖는 알루미늄 6061-T6 합금의 패치 본딩 보수/보강 부위에 대한 파괴역학적 해석에 관한 연구 (The failure analysis of patch bonded repair on Al 6061-T6 alloy structures with cracked bolt hole)

  • The aluminum alloy 6061-T6 has been successfully used in structural applications especially the pressure vessel of the Advanced Neutron Source research reactor. And aluminum alloys, including 6061-T6, have a face-centered-cubic crystals structure. Under normal circumstances face-centered-cubic crystal structures do not exhibit cleavage fractures even at very lo9w temperatures. In aluminum-based structures, plates frequently find use as connecting links. Mechanical fasteners are often utilized in instances where ease of application, familiarity with fabrication processes, and severe dynamic loading are of concern. Plates frequently find use as connecting elements in structures built from aluminum alloys. Many structural elements employ mechanical fasteners. Twenty and twenty aluminum alloy 6061-T6 plates, representing four different bolt patterns, were mechanically deformed. And variable materials such as A1 6061-T6, Al 2024-T3, Carbon/Epoxy, Glass/Epoxy Composite and Woven fiber composite, are used as patch materials. From this experiment, it has been shown that the strength of patch-repaired specimens is different with the patch materials.

롤빔에 카본플레이트를 보강한 강재의 일체적거동 및 강성보강효과 (Test on the strengthening effects and behavior of Roll beam with Stiffened carbon-plate)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존구조물에 대한 보수와 복구에 보강을 위하여 복합재료의 사용이 증가하고 있는 상황에서 방재의 개념에도 부합하는 탄소섬유보강재를 이용하여 기존금속재와 접합(접착방식)을 통한 강도증진효과를 연구하였다. 특히 실험을 통하여 강-탄소섬유보강재로 이루어진 복합재 거동을 파악하였으며 여기에 적절한 시험을 위한 새로운 형태의 시험편을 제작하였다. 접합재로 레진을 도포하는 방법을 달리하고 거동을 비교하기 위하여 표면처리가 다른 시험편을 각각 고려하여 시험한 결과 강성보강효과는 물론 일체거동의 특성이 잘 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

Predicting and analysis of interfacial stress distribution in RC beams strengthened with composite sheet using artificial neural network

  • The severe deterioration of structures has led to extensive research on the development of structural repair techniques using composite materials. Consequently, previous researchers have devised various analytical methods to predict the interface performance of bonded repairs. However, these analytical solutions are highly complex mathematically and necessitate numerous calculations with a large number of iterations to obtain the output parameters. In this paper, an artificial neural network prediction models is used to calculate the interfacial stress distribution in RC beams strengthened with FRP sheet. The R2value for the training data is evaluated as 0.99, and for the testing data, it is 0.92. Closed-form solutions are derived for RC beams strengthened with composite sheets simply supported at both ends and verified through direct comparisons with existing results. A comparative study of peak interfacial shear and normal stresses with the literature gives the usefulness and effectiveness of ANN proposed. A parametrical study is carried out to show the effects of some design variables, e.g., thickness of adhesive layer and FRP sheet.

Experimental and numerical disbond localization analyses of a notched plate repaired with a CFRP patch

  • Through the use of finite element analysis and acoustic emission techniques we have evaluated the interfacial failure of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) repair patch on a notched aluminum substrate. The repair of cracks is a very common and widely used practice in the aeronautics field to extend the life of cracked sheet metal panels. The process consists of adhesively bonding a patch that encompasses the notched site to provide additional strength, thereby increasing life and avoiding costly replacements. The mechanical strength of the bonded joint relies mainly on the bonding of the adhesive to the plate and patch stiffness. Stress concentrations at crack tips promote disbonding of the composite patch from the substrate, consequently reducing the bonded area, which makes this a critical aspect of repair effectiveness. In this paper we examine patch disbonding by calculating the influence of notch tip stress on disbond area and verify computational results with acoustic emission (AE) measurements obtained from specimens subjected to uniaxial tension. The FE results showed that disbonding first occurs between the patch and the substrate close to free edge of the patch followed by failure around the tip of the notch, both highest stress regions. Experimental results revealed that cement adhesion at the aluminum interface was the limiting factor in patch performance. The patch did not appear to strengthen the aluminum substrate when measured by stress-strain due to early stage disbonding. Analysis of the AE signals provided insight to the disbond locations and progression at the metal-adhesive interface. Crack growth from the notch in the aluminum was not observed until the stress reached a critical level, an instant before final fracture, which was unaffected by the patch due to early stage disbonding. The FE model was further utilized to study the effects of patch fiber orientation and increased adhesive strength. The model revealed that the effectiveness of patch repairs is strongly dependent upon the combined interactions of adhesive bond strength and fiber orientation.

복합재 스카프 조인트에서의 마이크로 볼트 보강에 대한 타당성 연구 (Effect of Micro-bolt Reinforcement for Composite Scarf Joint)

  • 스카프 접착 조인트를 마이크로 볼트로 보강하였을 때, 볼트의 보강효과를 얻을 수 있는지를 시험으로 연구하였다. 스카프 형상에 따른 조인트 보강효과를 확인하기 위해 3가지 스카프비(1/10, 1/20, 1/30)를 고려하였다. 접착면적에 따른 핀의 밀도를 동일하게 유지하기 위해, 1/10, 1/20, 1/30 스카프비를 가지는 조인트에 각각 16, 32, 48개의 볼트를 보강하였다. 기준값을 획득하기 위해 접착제로만 체결된 조인트와 마이크로 볼트만 사용한 조인트에 대한 시험도 수행하였다. 시험 결과 접착제만 적용한 경우, 각 스카프비(1/10, 1/20, 1/30)에 따른 파손하중은 29.7, 39.6, 44.8 kN로 나타났다. 마이크로 볼트로 보강한 경우 파손하중은 스카프비에 따라 각각 28.4, 37.2, 40.1 kN으로 나타났는데, 순수 접착 조인트 파손하중의 96, 94, 90%에 해당한다. 마이크로 볼트만 사용한 경우, 파손하중은 접착 조인트 인장강도의 13-25%에 불과하였다. 스카프비 1/10 조인트의 피로시험 결과 접착제와 볼트를 동시에 사용한 하이브리드 조인트의 피로강도가 접착제만 사용한 경우의 피로강도보다 증가하였지만, 증가율은 2-3%로 미미하였다. 본 연구를 통해 박리응력이 파손의 주원인이 되는 구조물에서와 달리, 전단응력이 파손의 주원인이 되는 스카프 조인트의 경우 마이크로 볼트의 보강효과는 나타나지 않는 것을 확인하였다.

카본판을 접착보강한 강재의 거동분석 (Structural behavior on the steel beam with strengthening bonded carbon plate)

CFRP strengthening of steel columns subjected to eccentric compression loading

  • Steel structures often require strengthening due to the increasing life loads, or repair caused by corrosion or fatigue cracking. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) is one of the materials used to strengthen steel structures. Most studies on strengthening steel structures have been carried out on steel beams and steel columns under centric compression load. No independent article, to the author's knowledge, has studied the effect of CFRP strengthening on steel columns under eccentric compression load, and it seems that there is a lack of understanding on behavior of CFRP strengthening on steel columns under eccentric compression load. However, this study explored the use of adhesively bonded CFRP flexible sheets on retrofitting square hollow section (SHS) steel columns under the eccentric compression load, using numerical investigations. Finite Element Method (FEM) was employed for modeling. To determine ultimate load of SHS steel columns, eight specimens with two types of section (Type A and B), strengthened using CFRP sheets, were analyzed under different coverage lengths, the number of layers, and the location of CFRP composites. Two specimens were analyzed without strengthening (control) to determine the increasing rate of the ultimate load in strengthened steel columns. ANSYS was used to analyze the SHS steel columns. The results showed that the CFRP composite had no similar effect on the slender and stocky SHS steel columns. The results also showed that the coverage length, the number of layers, and the location of CFRP composites were effective in increasing the ultimate load of the SHS steel columns.

항공기 인증을 위한 복합재 구조물 설계/해석 (Design and Analysis on Composite Structure for Aircraft Certification)

  • 복합재 항공기의 경우 인증 시 여러 가지 요소를 고려해야한다. 금속과는 달리 복합재구조물의 감항성은 운용 및 제작 중 발생하는 손상 등에 의해 큰 영향을 받는다. 그러므로 예상 가능한 여러 가지 손상에 대해 정적강도, 강성, 플러터 및 손상허용강도 등을 입증하여 야한다. 복합재료의 기계적물성은 환경조건에 영향을 받는다. 특히 압축강도는 수지의 영향이 지배적이고 수지가 온도와 습도의 영향을 많이 받으므로 설계/해석 시 고려하여야한다. 복합재 항공기의 경우 육안으로 탐지가 어려운 손상에 대한 정적강도를 입증하여야하고, 육안으로 보이는 큰 손상에 대해서는 발견 즉시 수리하도록 규정되어있다. 본 논문에서는 복합재 구조물의 설계/해석에 필요한 규정을 분석하고 해석방법 등에 대해 검토하려한다.

Load carrying capacity of CFRP retrofitted broken concrete arch

  • To reuse a broken plain concrete (PC) arch, a retrofitting method was proposed to ensure excellent structural performances, in which carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) were applied to repair and strengthen the damaged PC arch through bonding and wrapping techniques. Experiments were carried out to reveal the deformation and the load carrying capacity of the retrofitted composite arch. Based on the experiments, repairing and strengthening effects of the CFRP retrofitted broken arch were revealed. Simplified analysing model was suggested to predict the peak load of the CFRP retrofitted broken arch. According to the research, it is confirmed that absolutely broken PC arch can be completely repaired and reinforced, and even behaves more excellent than the intact PC arch when bonded together and strengthened with CFRP sheets. Using CFRP bonding/wrapping technique a novel efficient composite PC arch structure can be constructed, the comparison between rebar reinforced concrete (RC) arch and composite PC arch reveals that CFRP reinforcements can replace the function of steel bars in concrete arch.
