In this article, the concept of body fluid is explained in three aspects: the word meaning of body fluid, the origins of the definitions of the body fluid concept and the connotation and extension of body fluid. Investigating data about the time Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經) was written, the author discovers that the meaning of "Aek(液)" is clear, but there are still questions about the meaning of "Jin(津)". The concept of body fluid derived from observation of life phenomenon and ancient philosophy on the "water". The concept of body fluid should be expressed as that body fluid is a general term for all normal liquids in the body. Within the meridians, as the composition of blood components; outside the meridians, constituting the intrinsic body fluids of various organs and tissues. This is the main part of body fluid, coming from diet, constituting the human body and maintaining human life activities, playing the roles of moistening and nourishing various of organs and tissues of the body. In addition, Interstitial fluid, all kinds of normal liquid secretion and metabolic products, such as sweat, tears, nasal discharge, saliva, slobber, gastric juice, intestinal fluid, urine, joint fluid, latex and so on, both belong to body fluid.
There are two kinds of body fluid metabolism in Traditional Korean Medicine based on 'Internal Classic'("內經"); one is metabolism of body fluid(津液) meaning metabolism of physiological substance, and another is metabolism of humor meaning a metabolic process that excretes waste out of the body. 'Phlegm-retained fluid'(痰飮) is a typical pathological condition caused by abnormal fluid metabolism in Traditional Korean Medicine. As a result of reviewing the literature on 'phlegm-retained fluid'(痰飮), the following facts were found; 'Phlegm-retained fluid'(痰飮) is formed by abnormal state of metabolism of body fluid(津液). In other words, because of the action of various etiologies, qi(氣) and body fluid(津液) metabolism can have abnormal conditions and these metabolic disorders cause formation of 'phlegm-retained fluid'(痰飮). Treatments for 'phlegm-retained fluid'(痰飮) include the following: Eliminating the causes of illness, recovery of metabolism of qi(氣) and body fluid(津液), and functional recovery of pancreas and kidney related to body fluid(津液) metabolism. These treatments are distinguished from promotion of sweating(發汗) and helping urination, the treatments for humor metabolism abnormality.

RNA analysis has become a reliable method of body fluid identification for forensic use. Previously, we developed a combination of four multiplex quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) probes to discriminate four different body fluids (blood, semen, saliva, and vaginal secretion). While those makers successfully identified most body fluid samples, there were some cases of false positive and negative identification. To improve the accuracy of the identification further, we tried to use multiple markers per body fluid and adopted the NanoString nCounter system instead of a multiplex qRT-PCR system. After measuring tens of RNA markers, we evaluated the accuracy of each marker for body fluid identification. For body fluids, such as blood and semen, each body fluid-specific marker was accurate enough for perfect identification. However, for saliva and vaginal secretion, no single marker was perfect. Thus, we designed a logistic regression model with multiple markers for saliva and vaginal secretion and achieved almost perfect identification. In conclusion, the NanoString nCounter is an efficient platform for measuring multiple RNA markers per body fluid and will be useful for forensic RNA analysis.
In this paper, the requirements of passive levitation for nonmagnetic body in magnetic fluid are investigated. The passive levitation system includes the electromagnetic system composed of two hollow solenoids, the magnetic fluid and the nonmagnetic body made of aluminum. The hollow solenoids generate nonuniform magnetic fields, leading to the gradient of the magnetic field in magnetic fluid. Hence, the resultant magnetic body force in magnetic fluid is used to levitate the nonmagnetic body in the opposite direction of the gravitation. The levitation conditions according to applied current and the mass of the nonmagnetic body are obtained analytically.
This study examined the relationship between body fitness and body composition as well as the body fluid and intracellular fluid (ICF) of extremities to determine body composition's quantitative criteria for body fitness. Multiple-frequency segmental bioelectrical impedance analysis and the physical fitness test provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology were used to measure body composition and physical fitness, respectively. The test results showed that in women in their fifties, the correlation between the amount of body fluid in the upper limbs and grip strength was r=.654 (p<0.01) for the right arm and r=.445 for the left while that between the amount of ICF in the upper limbs and grip strength was r=.708 (p<0.01) for the right and r=.323 for the left. Also, in women in their fifties, the correlation between the amount of body fluid in the lower limbs and the result of a repetitive side jump test was r=.730 for the right leg and r=.753 for the left (p<0.01 for both), and that between the amount of ICF and the counts for the right and left legs was even higher with r=.742 and r=.763, respectively (p<0.01 for both). The body fluid and ICF volumes in the right extremities exceeded those in the left, and physical fitness was correlated with both body fluid and ICF. These findings indicate a connection between physical fitness and body fluid and ICF, suggesting that body composition may help predict physical fitness.

Determination of the type and origin of the body fluids found at a crime scene can give important insights into crime scene reconstruction by supporting a link between sample donors and actual criminal acts. For more than a century, numerous types of body fluid identification methods have been developed, such as chemical tests, immunological tests, protein catalytic activity tests, spectroscopic methods and microscopy. However, these conventional body fluid identification methods are mostly presumptive, and are carried out for only one body fluid at a time. Therefore, the use of a molecular genetics-based approach using RNA profiling or DNA methylation detection has been recently proposed to supplant conventional body fluid identification methods. Several RNA markers and tDMRs (tissue-specific differentially methylated regions) which are specific to forensically relevant body fluids have been identified, and their specificities and sensitivities have been tested using various samples. In this review, we provide an overview of the present knowledge and the most recent developments in forensic body fluid identification and discuss its possible practical application to forensic casework.
Many of the diseases that occur in a life being are either closely related to water, or they occur by loss or deterioration of water metabolism. There are six parts of study on this subject in ${\ulcorner}$Dongeubogam${\lrcorner}$. The parts are, the part of Jinaek the part of Dameum the part of Sobyeon the part of Bujong the part of Changman and the part of Seub. In these parts, it mentions loss of perspiration, abnormal urination, edema, abdominal dropsy, formation of abnormal body fluid and intrusion of dampness into the body and etc as the abnormal water metabolism. Loss of perspiration and urination is a process of eliminating the dampness in the body. Perspiration would be the abnormality of yanghwa[陽化]. Urination would be the loss of eumhwa[陰化]. Eum[飮] is the fluid accumulated in the body that failed to go through the process of Cihwa[氣化]. Dam[痰] is formed when the body fluid is heated by the smoking-fire. Meanwhile, the dampness occurs when the water penetrates into the bones, muscles and joints. Edema and abdominal dropsy are both outcomes of accumulated body fluid. Edema is the liquified body fluid congested on the surface or the peripheral ends of the body. Abdominal dropsy is congestion of fluid, that lost the characteristic of blood due to blood deterioration, in the abdominal part.
Body fluid(津液) is a general term for normal mucus in human body, including saliva, gastric juice, intestinal juice and articular fluid in joints as well as tear, running nose, sweat, etc.. The formation of Body fluid goes through two phases. First phase is digestion of food at stomach, and then evaporation and classification of energy at Triple warmer(三焦). More technically speaking, Body fluid is divided into the Jin(津) & the Aek(液). Aek is a very mild and water-like fluid, runs deep into the internal organs. Jin is a thick and sticky liquid, running shallow under the skin or in the joints of limbs. Major roles of body fluid over the body are to moisturize the internal organs, flesh, skin, etc., to soften the joints, to fill the bone marrow, and to balance Yin and Yang. This article deals with the role of body fluid and how to differentiate them, the liquid metabolism in the human body, and the formation and change of sweat, urine, tear, spit, bone marrow, etc.. The imbalance of Yin and Yang and disturbance of Triple warmer's evaporation lead into lumbago, leg weakness and edema is also explained here.
