This paper introduces a mobile augmented visualization technology that augments a three-dimensional virtual human body on a mannequin model using two pose(position and rotation) tracking sensors. The conventional camera tracking technology used for augmented visualization has the disadvantage of failing to calculate the camera pose when the camera shakes or moves quickly because it uses the camera image, but using a pose tracking sensor can overcome this disadvantage. Also, even if the position of the mannequin is changed or rotated, augmented visualization is possible using the data of the pose tracking sensor attached to the mannequin, and above all there is no load for camera tracking.
There have been studying many researches to detect human body and to track one with increasing interest on human and computer interaction. In this paper, we propose the algorithm that automatically extracts joints, linked points of human body, using the ratio of human body under single camera and tracks object. The proposed method gets the difference images of the grayscale images and ones of the hue images between input image and background image. Then the proposed method composes the results, splits background and foreground, and extracts objects. Also we standardize the ratio of human body using face' length and the measurement of human body and automatically extract joints of the object using the ratio and the corner points of the silhouette of object. After then, we tract the joints' movement using block-matching algorithm. The proposed method is applied to test video to be acquired through a camera and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints and effectively tracks the detected joints.

Our aim was to simulate ocean waves in a small-size wave flume and observe the motion of a cylindrical floating body placed in an offshore environment. To precisely visualize the oscillation of the body, a set of light-emitting diode illuminators and high-speed charge-coupled device camera were installed in the flume. Spectral analysis was performed of the movement of the floating body. The wave generator and absorbers worked well to simulate stable regular waves. As the period of the oncoming waves changed, the movement of the floating body substantially differed when tethered to a tension-leg mooring cable. In particular, when connected to the tension-leg mooring cable, the natural frequency of the floating body suddenly appeared at 0.391 Hz as the wave period was increased.
Body weight of livestock is a crucial indicator for assessing feed requirements and nutritional status. This study was performed to estimate the body weight of Korean cattle (Hanwoo) using body volume determined from three-dimensional (3-D) image. A TOF camera with a resolution of 640×480 pixels, a frame rate of 44 fps and a field of view of 47°(H)×37°(V) was used to capture the 3-D images for Hanwoo. A grid image of the body was obtained through preprocessing such as separating the body from background and removing outliers from the obtained 3-D image. The body volume was determined by numerical integration using depth information to individual grid. The coefficient of determination for a linear regression model of body weight and body volume for calibration dataset was 0.8725. On the other hand, the coefficient of determination was 0.9083 in a multiple regression model for estimating body weight, in which the age of Hanwoo was added to the body volume as an explanatory variable. Mean absolute percentage error and root mean square error in the multiple regression model to estimate the body weight for validation dataset were 8.2% and 24.5kg, respectively. The performance of the regression model for weight estimation was improved and the effort required for estimating body weight could be reduced as the body volume of Hanwoo was used. From these results obtained, it was concluded that the body volume determined from 3-D of Hanwoo could be used as an effective variable for estimating body weight.

Human appearance analysis is an important part of both eastern and western medicine fields, such as Sasang constitutional medicine, rehabilitation medicine, dental medicine, and etc. By the rapid growing of depth camera technology, 3D measuring becomes popular in many applications including medical area. In this study, the possibility of using depth cameras in asymmetry analysis of human appearance is examined. We introduce the development of 3D measurement system using 2 Microsoft Kinect depth cameras and fully automated asymmetry analysis algorithms based on computer vision technology. We compare the proposed automated method to the manual method, which is usually used in asymmetry analysis. As a measure of repeatability, standard deviations of asymmetry indices are examined by 10 times repeated experiments. Experimental results show that the standard deviation of the automated method (1.00mm for face, 1.22mm for body) is better than that of the manual method (2.06mm for face, 3.44mm for body) for the same 3D measurement. We conclude that the automated method using depth cameras can be successfully applicable to practical asymmetry analysis and contribute to reliable human appearance analysis.
In this paper, we proposed a river water level detection and tracking of the river or dams based on image processing system. In past, most of the water level detection system used various water sensors. Those water sensors works perfectly but have many drawbacks such as high cost and harsh weather. Water level monitoring system helps in forecasting early river disasters and maintenance of the water body area. However, the early river disaster warning system introduces many conflicting requirements. Surveillance camera based water level detection system depends on either the area of interest from the water body or on optical flow algorithm. This proposed system is focused on water scaling area of a river or dam to detect water level. After the detection of scale area from water body, the proposed algorithm will immediately focus on the digits available on that area. Using the numbers on the scale, water level of the river is predicted. This proposed system is successfully tested on different water bodies to detect the water level area and predicted the water level.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm to track human body of input video from a single camera. The proposed method gets the difference image between gray image of input image and one of background image and also the difference image between hue image of input image and one of background image. Then we combine the results, splits foreground and background and detect human body objects. Then each object is numbered and is tracked. The proposed method tracks each object using the intensity and hue histogram of local area in objects. The proposed method is applied to video from a camera and tracked well the hided objects and the overlapped objects.
This paper describes a method for vision-based person identification that can detect, track, and recognize person from video using multiple cues: height and dressing colors. The method does not require constrained target's pose or fully frontal face image to identify the person. First, the system, which is connected to a pan-tilt-zoom camera, detects target using motion detection and human cardboard model. The system keeps tracking the moving target while it is trying to identify whether it is a human and identify who it is among the registered persons in the database. To segment the moving target from the background scene, we employ a version of background subtraction technique and some spatial filtering. Once the target is segmented, we then align the target with the generic human cardboard model to verify whether the detected target is a human. If the target is identified as a human, the card board model is also used to segment the body parts to obtain some salient features such as head, torso, and legs. The whole body silhouette is also analyzed to obtain the target's shape information such as height and slimness. We then use these multiple cues (at present, we uses shirt color, trousers color, and body height) to recognize the target using a supervised self-organization process. We preliminary tested the system on a set of 5 subjects with multiple clothes. The recognition rate is 100% if the person is wearing the clothes that were learned before. In case a person wears new dresses the system fail to identify. This means height is not enough to classify persons. We plan to extend the work by adding more cues such as skin color, and face recognition by utilizing the zoom capability of the camera to obtain high resolution view of face; then, evaluate the system with more subjects.

In this paper, we develop an interface for aerial photograph platform which consists of a quadrotor and a gimbal using the human body and the head posture. As quadrotors have been widely adopted in many industries such as aerial photography, remote surveillance, and maintenance of infrastructures, the demand of aerial video and photograph has been increasing remarkably. Stick type remote controllers are widely used to control a quadrotor, but this method is not an intuitive way of controlling the aerial vehicle and the camera simultaneously. Therefore, a new interface which controls the serial photograph platform is presented. The presented interface uses the human head movement measured by head-mounted display as a reference for controlling the camera angle, and the human body posture measured from Kinect for controlling the attitude of the quadrotor. As the image captured by the camera is displayed on the head-mounted display simultaneously, the user can feel flying experience and intuitively control the quadrotor and the camera. Finally, the performance of the developed system shown to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the presented interface.
In this study, an FPGA-based sealer inspection system was developed to inspect the sealer applied to install vehicle glass on a car body. The sealer is a liquid or paste-like material that promotes adhesion such as sealing and waterproofing for mounting and assembling vehicle parts to a car body. The system installed in the existing vehicle design parts line does not detect the sealer in the glass rotation section and takes a long time to process. This study developed a line laser camera sensor and an FPGA vision signal processing module to solve this problem. The line laser camera sensor was developed such that the resolution and speed of the camera for data acquisition could be modified according to the irradiation angle of the laser. Furthermore, it was developed considering the mountability of the entire system to prevent interference with the sealer ejection machine. In addition, a vision signal processing module was developed using the Zynq-7020 FPGA chip to improve the processing speed of the algorithm that converted the profile to the sealer shape image acquired from a 2D camera and calculated the width and height of the sealer using the converted profile. The performance of the developed sealer application inspection system was verified by establishing an experimental environment identical to that of an actual automobile production line. The experimental results confirmed the performance of the sealer application inspection at a level that satisfied the requirements of automotive field standards.
