  • As IPv4 addresses are exhausting, the use of IPv6 addresses is increasing. IPv6 environment provides address auto-configuration function. If addresses are allocated to each host automatically, network management system has difficulty in inspecting every IP of all devices and keeping the relevant informations. Also, as IP addresses are configured automatically, problems such as malicious users accessing network devices with no restriction can occur. To solve these problems, managing and blocking of malicious user is necessary. In this paper, we suggest agent system for searching of host computer and blocking network access which manages and protects the major network resources efficiently by searching host and blocking unauthorized host access to network in IPv6 environment. According to the test results of function of this agent system in IPv6 environment, we have checked that this system performs searching and blocking function normally.

Iterative Reduction of Blocking Artifact in Block Transform-Coded Images Using Wavelet Transform (웨이브렛 변환을 이용한 블록기반 변환 부호화 영상에서의 반복적 블록화 현상 제거)

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative algorithm for reducing the blocking artifact in block transform-coded images by using a wavelet transform. In the proposed method, an image is considered as a set of one-dimensional horizontal and vertical signals and one-dimensional wavelet transform is utilized in which the mother wavelet is the first order derivative of a Gaussian like function. The blocking artifact is reduced by removing the blocking component, that causes the variance at the block boundary position in the first scale wavelet domain to be abnormally higher than those at the other positions, using a minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter in the wavelet domain. This filter minimizes the MSE between the ideal blocking component-free signal and the restored signal in the neighborhood of block boundaries in the wavelet domain. It also uses local variance in the wavelet domain for pixel adaptive processing. The filtering and the projection onto a convex set of quantization constraint are iteratively performed in alternating fashion. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields not only a PSNR improvement of about 0.56-1.07 dB, but also subjective quality nearly free of the blocking artifact and edge blur.

A Design of the SMBC for Improving Reliability of Blocking Spam Mail (스팸 메일 차단 신뢰도 향상을 위한 SMBC 플랫폼 설계)

  • While the E-mail is a important way of fast communication in these days. it is real that the E-mail is often misused as a commercial advertisement method and creates many social problems. Even though various filtering techniques for blocking spam mails have been developed, reliability of mail systems is decreased by misreading normal mails as spam mails, i.e. false-positive errors. In this paper, the SMBC(Spam Mail Blocking Center) platform employing spam mail recovery method based on privacy information is proposed and designed. The SMBC is designed in frame layer based on spam blocking system of proxy sewer and can be physically implemented in various topology so that flexible development with layered module is possible. Using privacy information makes the proposed SMBC platform minimize processing load and false-positive error rates so that it can improve mail system reliabilities.

  • Call blocking probabilities of streaming data service in CDMA system with access point(AP) of WLAN are analyzed for different cell geometry of base station and AP and queuing is modeled. The considered system leads to successful handoffs between the APs of WLAN. Blocking probabilities are enumerated as a function for ratio of base station and AP sizes, their locations and the number of buffer in the queue. Results show that blocking probability is not influenced by base station and AP locations but mainly by ratio of their sizes. For CDMA system of radius 100m, 5 buffers in the queue and 7㏈ noise rise(NR), in order to obtain 1% call blocking probability, a cell with hot spot of radius 20m has more 0.6Erlang than that of radius 60m.

Extratropical Prediction Skill of KMA GDAPS in January 2019 (기상청 전지구 예측시스템에서의 2019년 1월 북반구 중고위도 지역 예측성 검증)

  • The Northern Hemisphere extratropical prediction skill of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System (GDAPS) is examined for January 2019. The real-time prediction skill, evaluated with mean squared skill score (MSSS) of 30-90°N geopotential height field at 500 hPa (Z500), is ~8 days in the troposphere. The MSSS of Z500 considerably decreases after 3 days mainly due to the increasing eddy errors. The eddy errors are largely explained by the eddy-phased errors with minor contribution of amplitude errors. In particular, planetary-scale eddy errors are considered as a main reason of rapidly increasing errors. It turns out that such errors are associated with the blocking highs over North Pacific (NP) and Euro-Atlantic (EA) regions. The model overestimates the blocking highs over NP and EA regions in time, showing dependence of blocking predictability on blocking initializations. This result suggests that the extratropical prediction skill could be improved by better representing blocking in the model.

  • H.264/AVC among moving picture compression standard is the standard format for high compression rate and reliable video transimission. It generates blocking effects in video due to compressing video using block-based DCT and includes de-blocking filter to reduce blocking effect. Therefore, the filter makes the video over-smoothing and the quality of it is reduced. In this paper, we propose a improved de-blocking filter to solve the demerit. The proposed de-blocking filter redetermine the block boundary strength and apply the comer filtering to eliminate artifacts in low frequency domain. To evaluate the performance, we apply the proposed deblocking filter and exiting method to various video and evaluated the quality of image subjectively and objectively by analyzing the result. The simulation result shows the proposed method preserves the edge of video, reduces blocking effects and improves PSNR than the existing method.

An Adaptive De-blocking Algorithm in Low Bit-rate Video Coding (저 비트율 비디오를 위한 적응적 블록킹 현상 제거 기법)

  • Most video codecs including the international standards use the block-based hybrid structure for efficient compression. But for low bit-rate applications such as video transmission through wireless channels, the blocking artifacts degrade image qualify seriously. In this paper, we propose an adaptive de-blocking algorithm using characteristics of the block boundaries. Blocking artifacts contain the high frequency components near the block boundaries, therefore the lowpass filtering can remove them. However, simple lowpass filtering results into blurring by removing important information such as edges. To overcome this problem, we determine the modes depending upon the characteristics of pixels adjacent to block boundary then proper filter is applied to each area. Simulation results show that proposed method improves de-blocking performance compared to that of MPEG-4.

Analytical Model for Multi-Fiber WDM Networks with Sparse and Limited Wavelength Conversion (다수의 광심유와 산재한 제한 영역 파장 변환기로 구성된 파장분할다중화 광통신항의 성능 분석 모형)

  • In this paper, we present a new analytical model for estimating the blocking performance of multi-fiber WDM networt:s with sparse and limited wavelength conversion (SLWC). The proposed model is a reduced-load approximation model that can obtain accurate estimates of blocking probability of such networks. Our model employs three new recurrence formulae to obtain the free wavelength distribution on a multi-fiber link, the free wavelength distribution after limited-range wavelength conversion and the end-to-end blocking probability of a multi-hop path, respectively. From the numerical results on the NSFNET, we demonstrate that the blocking performance of two-fiber NSFNET with three wavelength-convertible nodes, each of which translates an input wavelength to its adjacent output wavelengths, closely approximates the blocking performance of full wavelength conversion.

  • Recently, there has been a lot of studies and efforts to strengthen the stability of critical infrastructures against increasing cyber attacks to critical infrastructures. In this thesis, I defined what cyber threats are, after showing you various definitions about what cyber threats are and what the types are. After studying about significant cyber threats from China, I showed you the realities of cyber threats with the analysis about starting points, types of cyber threats, ratios of attacks and so on. At last, I defined guidelines about unnecessary oversea IP range blocking. Also, I proposed unnecessary oversea IP range blocking methodologies with per information system and per network system. Furthermore, I proposed blocking characteristics per security equipment and security operation improvement and blocking effects and service process to normal oversea users.

Predictability of Northern Hemisphere Blocking in the KMA GDAPS during 2016~2017 (기상청 전지구예측시스템 자료에서의 2016~2017년 북반구 블로킹 예측성 분석)

  • Predictability of Northern Hemisphere blocking in the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System (GDAPS) is evaluated for the period of July 2016 to May 2017. Using the operational model output, blocking is defined by a meridional gradient reversal of 500-hPa geopotential height as Tibaldi-Molteni Index. Its predictability is quantified by computing the critical success index and bias score against ERA-Interim data. It turns out that Northwest Pacific blockings, among others, are reasonably well predicted with a forecast lead time of 2~3 days. The highest prediction skill is found in spring with 3.5 lead days, whereas the lowest prediction skill is observed in autumn with 2.25 lead days. Although further analyses are needed with longer dataset, this result suggests that Northern Hemisphere blocking is not well predicted in the operational weather prediction model beyond a short-term weather prediction limit. In the spring, summer, and autumn periods, there was a tendency to overestimate the Western North Pacific blocking.
