This paper is to investigate an effect of waste cooking oil(WCO) on the engineering properties and durability of high volume admixture concrete. Fly ash with 30% and blast furnace slag with 60% were incorporated in OPC to fabricate high volume admixture concrete with 0.5 of W/B. Emulsified refining cooking oil(ERCO) was made by mixing WCO and emulsifying agent to improve fluidity. ERCO was replaced by cement from 0.25 to 1.0%. As results, the increase of ERCO resulted in decrease of slump and air contents. For compressive strength, the use of ERCO led to decrease the compressive strength at 28 days, while it had similar strength or much higher strength than plain concrete at 180 days. Resistance to carbonation and chloride penetration was improved with the increase of ERCO contents due to decreased pore distribution by saponification between ERCO and concrete, while freeze-thaw resistance was degraded due to air loss.

RC (Reinforced Concrete) member has varying service life due to varying diffusion characteristics with loading conditions even if it is exposed to constant exterior conditions. In the paper, quantitative parameters are obtained through adopting the previous results for effects of compressive, tensile, and cold joint on chloride diffusion in OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) concrete. Service life is evaluated in RC simple beam with 10.0m of span through increasing loading from self weight (2.5kN/m) to the loading to cracking moment (5.5kN/m). In OPC concrete without cold joint, service life changes to 89.4% for tensile region and 101% for compressive region with loadings while GGBFS concrete has 80.0% and 106%, respectively. For cold joint area, GGBFS concrete shows much reduced service life to 82~80% in compressive region and 69~61% in tensile region, which is caused by the lower diffusion in normal condition but relatively higher increasing cold joint effect than OPC concrete.

This study is to develop high quality floor mortar which can be applied in construction sites using EXFG(Expansive admixdure Flue Gas desulfurization gypsum). First, as the substitution rate of ALS(Aluminum Slag) increased, the flow is increased proportionally. EXFG showed a tendency to decrease with increasing substitution rate. Also, in the case of the setting time of 5% of ALS replacement rate, the setting time of Plain compared to EXFG was decreased by 5~20%. The compressive strength increased with the ALS replacement ratio at 0%, 5% and the EXFG replacement ratio at 1%. The strength was increased when the ALS replacement ratio was more than 10%. In the case of ALS replacement rate of 0% and 5%, drying shrinkage compared to plain was decreased by about 10~25% regardless of EXFG replacement rate.

In order to evaluate the effects of exposure conditions on the resistance to sulfate attack of normal and blended cement mortars, several mechanical characteristics of the mortars such as expansion, strength and bulk density were regularly monitored for 52 cycles under sodium sulfate attack. The mortar specimens were exposed to 3 different types of exposure conditions; 1) continuous full immersion(Exposure A), continuous half-immersion(Exposure B) and cyclic wetting-drying(Exposure C). Experimental results indicated that the maximum deterioration was noted in OPC mortar specimens subjected to Exposure B, showing the wide cracks in the portions where attacking solution is adjacent to air. Additionally, the beneficial effect of ground granulated blast-furnace slag and silica fume was clearly observed showing a superior resistance against sodium sulfate attack, because of its lower permeability and densified structure. Thus, it is suggested that when concrete made with normal cement is exposed to sulfate environment, proper considerations on the exposure conditions should be taken.
PURPOSES : It is necessary to clarify the rheological properties of cement paste as a basic research in the development of mechanistic concrete mix design. The rheological properties of cement paste with different binder types, mix propositions, and with/without high range water reducers have been analyzed. METHODS : In this study, ordinary Portland cement, fly-ash, blast furnace slag, silica fume, and limestone powder were used as binders. The range of water-binder ratio was 0.3-0.5, and a total of 30 different mixes have been tested. The slump flow test, V-funnel test, and Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test were performed to analyze the rheological properties of cement paste. RESULTS : As a result of the slump flow test, it was found that the composition ratio of the binder contents greatly affected the paste flow when the high range water reducers were added. The results of V-funnel test showed that when the water-binder ratio was decreased without high range water reducers, the binder composition ratio had a large effect on the passing time of the V-funnel tester, but with high range water reducers the impact of the binder composition ratio was decreased. The slump flow and V-funnel have a certain relationship with the rheological factors (yield stress and plastic viscosity), but the correlation was not significant. Finally, we proposed the M-value considering the density and specific surface area of the binder. The correlation between rheological factors and M-value were better demonstrated than experimental values, but there is still a limit to predict the rheological factor in general mix design. CONCLUSIONS :In this study, the rheological properties of cement paste were analyzed. The binder type, composition ratio of binder, and with/without high range water reducers have combined to provide the complex effects on the rheological properties of cement paste. The correlation between the proposed M-value and rheological factor was found to be better than experimental results, but needs to be improved in the future.
Carbonation resistance is one of the most influencing factors on durability of concrete. Alkali activated slag (AAS) is known to have weaker resistance for carbonation than OPC due to the low calcium contents. In this paper, the carbonation characteristic of AAS mortar which is related to the basicity (CaO/$SiO_2$) was investigated. In order to give the various basicity conditions, SM (source material) was blended with quicklime (CaO) and silicon dioxide ($SiO_2$) by adopting mechano-chemical treatment method. Experiments including flow test, compressive strength test, carbonation depth test, together with XRD, FTIR and TGA were employed to evaluate the effects of basicity of SM on the carbonation characteristics. The test results showed that the carbonation resistance effectively increased with the increase of the basicity of SM.

This paper investigate that the effect of the concrete containing mineral admixtures(pozzolanic materials such as fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, silica fume and meta kaolin) on the resistance properties to chloride ion invasion. The purposed testing procedure was applied to the concrete added mineral admixtures for $3\sim4$ replacement ratios under W/B ratios ranged from 0.40 to 0.55. Specimens were immersed in $3.6\%$ NaCl solution for 330 days, and penetration depth, water soluble chloride contents and acid soluble chloride contents were measured in 28, 91, 182 and 330 days. Then, diffusion coefficient were calculated using total chloride contents. As a results. the kinds of mineral admixture and replacement ratios had a great effect on the resistance property of the concrete to chloride ion invasion compared with the plain concrete. And the optimal replacement ratios of mineral admixture had a limitation for each admixtures. The amount of acid soluble chloride ions and water soluble chloride ions were varied with the kinds of mineral admixtures and the penetration depth from the concrete skin. Chloride diffusion coefficient of each concretes decreased with the time elapsed. and the diffusion coefficients of the concrete immersed salt water for 330 days had a establishment with the compressive strength measured before immersing.

This study examined the practical application of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) based alkali-activated (AA) binders for the development of cementless environmental-friendly secondary products of concrete, such as brick, shore protection blocks and interlocking blocks. The addition amount and type of alkaline ion to activate GGBS varied according to the diverse qualities of the secondary products of concrete required in Korean industrial standards (KS) and other specifications. Test results showed that the secondary products of concrete using GGBS-based AA binders surpassed the demanded capacities of KS and other specifications. In addition, shore protection block had a pH value close to neutral, enabling an advantageous environment for marine life. Therefore, the GGBS-based AA binders can be effectively applied to develop eco-friendly secondary products of concrete with reduced $CO_2$.

Ultra-High Strength Concrete (UHSC) demands a clear presentation of its mechanical properties, as distinct from normal strength concrete, and an evaluation of the serviceability of high-rise buildings that use ultra-high strength concrete. Ultra-high strength concrete fck=150MPa was manufactured with pre-mix cement, and an experimental study was conducted to evaluate the mixing properties and compressive strength, with the major variables being unit cement contents, water-binder ratio, and type of pre-mix cement. The test result showed that 150MPa concrete requires about 6~7 minutes of mixing time until each of the materials (ordinary Portland cement, silica fume, blast-furnace slag powder and anhydrite) are sufficiently revitalized. The slump flow of fresh concrete was shown to be about 700~800mm with the proper viscosity. The average value of concrete compressive strength was shown to be about 70% in 7 days, 85% in 14 days, and 95% in 28 days, for 56 days of concrete material age.

The analysis of the effect of loading on chloride penetration into concrete is very important. In this study, we confirmed that the chloride penetration rates for plain and BFS concrete were increased by 47% and 89% under compressive stress, respectively. The diffusion coefficient of BFS concrete was lower than for conventional concrete with no BFS, no loads, and under stressed states. Therefore, BFS substitution plays an important role in the repression of chloride penetration even under compressive stress. Under compressive stress, the diffusion coefficient for BFS concrete was higher with increasing stress, and this was also the case for plain concrete. However, BFS concrete was strongly influenced by compressive stress in comparison to plain concrete. We investigated the effect of the difference of specific surfaces on the diffusion coefficient. As a result, the larger specific surface of BFS exhibited a lower diffusion coefficient. This tendency was most pronounced under the high stress conditions.
