폐수중 암모늄 이온 회수를 위한 불균질 양이온교환막의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Properties of Heterogeneous Cation Exchange Membrane for Recovery of Ammonium Ion from Waste Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐수중에 함유된 암모늄 이온을 전기투석 방법으로 회수하기 위하여 불균질 이온교환막을 압축성형 방법으로 제조하였다. 설폰화 양이온교환수지의 설폰화도는 설폰화제인 chlorosulfonic acid의 함량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 최대 설폰화율은 10 vol%일때 3.32 meq/g이었다. 불균질 이온교환막의 인장강도와 신장률은 이온교환수지의 함량이 증가함에 따라 각각 감소하였으며 인장강도는 LLDPE 막이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 신장률의 경우 EVA 막이 가장 높게 나타났다. 불균질 이온교환막의 함수율은 이온교환수지의 함량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며 이온수송수는 PE 막의 경우 최대 0.973이었고, 전기저항값은 LLDPE막이 가장 낮게 나타났으며 수지의 함량 70 wt%일때 $10.36{\Omega}/cm^2$이었다.

Evaluating Feeding of Organic Waste and Stirring Interval to Optimize Anaerobic Digestion

  • Purpose: In the process of anaerobic digestion, stirring of the digester and feeding of organic waste into the digester have been considered important factors for digestive efficiency. The objective of this study was to determine the most appropriate conditions for both stirring interval of the digester and organic feeding frequency in order to improve anaerobic digestion performance. Methods: A 5-L anaerobic digester was used to conduct continuous batch tests to process swine manure and food waste. Four different stirring intervals of the digester were used: 5 min/h, 10 min/2 h, 15 min/3 h, and 20 min/4 h. Results: The application of swine manure to the digester every 5 min/h resulted in the highest production of biogas as well as the highest removal rates of volatile solids (VS) and total chemical oxygen demand. Stirring the digester with a mixture of swine manure and food waste at intervals of 5min/h and 10min/2 h produced the highest biogas yields of 515.3 mL/gVS and 521.1 mL/gVS, respectively. To test different supply frequencies, organic waste was added to the digester in either a 12-hor 24-h cycle. The 24-h cycle produced 1.5-fold greater biogas production than that during the 12-h cycle. Conclusions: Thus, from the above results, to optimize anaerobic digestion performance, the ideal stirring condition must be 5min/h for swine manure feeding and 10min/2h for co-digestion of food waste and swine manure in a 24-h cycle.

배추 쓰레기의 자원화 방안 (Examination about Recycling of Korean Cabbage Wastes)

  • 배추 매매후 발생하는 배추 쓰레기의 양이 매우 많으며, 현재 거의 전량이 폐기되어 환경에 많은 부담을 주고 있다. 서울 가락동 시장의 경우 매일 약 355톤 이상(전체 쓰레기 발생량의 64.1%)의 배우 쓰레기가 배출되고 있다. 따라서 단순 폐기 처분되는 폐자원을 수거하여 유용 물질을 생산한다면, 쓰레기 처리라는 환경 보호 측면과 폐기 비용 절감, 자원 재활용 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 조사 연구에서는 배추 쓰레기의 발생 현황, 식이 섬유소의 일반적 특성 및 배추 쓰레기로부터 고부가가치의 식이 섬유소(Dietary Fiber)로의 전환을 검토해 보았다. 배추 쓰레기에서의 식이 섬유소 함량을 측정한 결과 기존의 알려진 값(0.7%)보다 더 높은 수치(2.5%)를 나타냈다. 또한 식이 섬유소 추출 과정에서 효소 amylase와 protease의 영향은 없었다.

Preparation and Nutritional Evaluation of Hatchery Waste Meal for Broilers

  • Hatchery waste including infertile eggs, dead embryos in shell, dead or low grade chicks was cooked at $100^{\circ}C$ for 15 minutes and then oven dried and ground. Hatchery waste meal (HWM) thus prepared contained 44.25% protein, 4,573 kcal/kg gross energy, 3,600 kcal/kg metabolizable energy, 30% ether extract, 1.9% fibre, 14% ash, 9.8% nitrogen free extract, 7.26% Ca, 0.84%P, 1.86% lysine and 0.66% methionine with no Salmonella and E. coli. In biological evaluation trial, significantly higher weight gain was observed in ration containing 12% HWM compared with that containing similar amount of fish meal. Protein efficiency ratio on the two rations was 3.96 vs 2.85; protein digestibility, 86.02 vs 71.9; net protein utilization, 64.9 vs 42.37 and biological value, 75.37 vs 58.84, respectively, indicating better balance of amino acids in HWM compared with fish meal. Growth performance trial on broiler chicks also revealed better weight gain and feed efficiency on ration containing 12% HWM than that containing similar level of fish meal.

발포기술을 이용한 폐 LCD유리 여재의 수질정화능력 평가 (Evaluation of the Water Purification Efficiency of Waste LCD Glass Media by Using Foaming Technology)

  • The purpose of this study is to reprocess Waste-LCD(Liquid Crystal Display), to widely increase specific surface-area by foaming agent in the process of reprocessing and to use as a substrate of water treatment which is increased the ability of biological treatment, as well as to control non-point source pollutants produced by surface run off during rainfall with using this substrate, and to improve water quality of public watershed as developing substrate for water treatment to be able to purify second treated water which is exhausted at the wastewater treatment plant. The average removal efficiency of Waste-LCD that using the foaming technology was SS 71.2%, BOD 55.7%, COD 58.4%, T-N 29.5% and T-P was 50.3%. Almost Media, early stage showed low removal efficiency of SS and BOD. However, it became high when the microorganism adhered the Media. The variation of SS removal efficiency was high by inflow concentration of SS. The reason for the Media 4 showed high SS removal efficiency is that it has wide specific surface-area, and also it has a pore. All in all, it shows floating matter treatment ability not only inside but it also works outside of the substrate.

유기성 폐기물의 산발효 특성 및 알카리 전처리에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Acid Fermentation and Alkali Pretreatment of Organic Wastes)

  • It is difficult to task to achieve high biological nutrient removal from municipal wastewater because of low organic content. Volatile fatty acids(VFAs) produced from acid fermentation of food wastes can be utilized as external carbon sources for the biological nutrient process. Significant reduction and stabilization of the food wastes can also be obtained from the acid fermentation. The objective of this study is to evaluate characteristics of acid fermentation of the food wastes. Results obtained from the batch experiment of various organic wastes showed that the food wastes had high potential to be used as an external carbon source because of the largest production of the VFAs with low nitrogen and phosphorus content. The fish waste was found to be the next possible organic waste, while the others such as radish cabbage and molasses waste showed high VFAs consumption potential as a results of high nitrogen and phosphorus content. alkaline hydrolysis of the food waste was carried out using NaOH prior to the acid fermentation. As the alkali addition increased, solubilization of the organics as well as TSS reduction increased. However, fraction of soluble COD to total COD became stable after a sharp increase. Alkali addition greater than 0.5g NaOH per g TS resulted in significant increase in pH.

Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Growth of Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria in Kyongseodong Waste Landfill, Incheon

  • Effects of nitrogen addition on the growth of Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria (Leguminosae) in the waste landfill site was investigated. Nitrogen fertilization in the nitrogen poor soils of waste landfill may influence the growth of nitrogen fixing plants beneficially or detrimentally. When I. pseudo-tinctoria was fertilized with three different levels of nitrogen, the coverage of plants treated with 46 g N/$m^2$ and 460 g N/$m^2$ was significantly less than that of plants treated with 23 g N/$m^2$. The growth rates of plant height treated with 46 g N/$m^2$ and 460 g N/$m^2$ were significantly less than those of plants treated with 23 g N/$m^2$. The growth rates of plant diameter treated with 46 g N/$m^2$ and 460 g N/$m^2$ were significantly less than those of plants treated with 23 g N/$m^2$. Dry weights of whole plants in control sites were higher than those of all the others nitrogen treatment sites. Nodule numbers were higher in control plants than those of plants in all the other nitrogen treatment sites. It is suggested that nitrogen fertilizer addition over 23 g N/$m^2$ affect the growth of some nitrogen fixing plants, such as I. pseudo-tinctoria, negatively.

노을공원 쓰레기매립지 식생복원을 위한 아까시나무 천이방향 연구 (A Study on Successional Direction of Robinia pseudoacacia for the Vegetation Restoration in Waste Landfill of Noeul Park)

  • The waste landfill that has been used as a park through a stabilization project to provide green space to local residents. Vegetation restoration is necessary for the landfill park project, but it is difficult to restore vegetation due to various disturbances in the landfill. This study analyzed the successional dynamics and ecological characteristics of Robinia pseudoacacia communities from the slopes of Noeul Park by applying the 7-stage successional hypothesis. As a result of the study, there was almost no intermediate successional stage. There are only the early successional stage which Robinia pseudoacacia has an absolute dominance of 100% in the crown and middle layers, and the degeneration successional stage which formed by the introduction of Morus alba. This result showed that the succession of Robinia pseudoacacia communities were not able to proceed to the climax forest due to various disturbances in the waste landfill. Therefore, it was analyzed that it is necessary to induce the succession through intermediate steps such as Morus alba, since it is difficult to transition from Robinia pseudoacacia community to the native Quercus spp. community.

전기방사와 산소 플라즈마 처리를 활용한 폐비닐 기반의 분리막 합성 및 전기화학적 성능 향상 연구 (Preparation of Vinyl Waste-derived Separator and Enhancement of Electrochemical Performance using Electrospinning and Plasma Treatment)

  • 본 연구에서는 환경오염의 원인인 폐비닐을 전기방사를 통해 재활용하여 에너지 저장매체에 쓰이는 분리막으로 응용하고자 하였다. 상세히는, 폐비닐은 고분자 용액으로 만들어 전기방사 하여 비닐 폐기물 기반 분리막(VWS)를 얻은 후, 플라즈마 처리를 통해 분리막의 젖음성을 향상시켰다. FE-SEM 분석을 통해 비닐 폐기물의 농도에 따른 VWS의 형상과 두께가 달라지는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 플라즈마 세기를 80-120W 범위로 처리하여 VWS의 젖음성을 향상시켰다. 상세히는, 플라즈마 세기를 100W로 인가하였을 때 가장 낮은 접촉각이 관찰되었으며, 전기화학 성능은 57.9F g-1로 가장 높은 비용량을 보인다. 이는 전기방사로 달성한 높은 기공도 뿐만 아니라 산소 플라즈마 처리로 도입된 친수성 작용기에 기인한다. 결론적으로, 환경오염을 유발하는 폐비닐을 전기방사와 상압 산소 플라즈마 처리를 통해 에너지 저장매체의 분리막 소재로 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.
