  • p43 is a protein with complex biological activities. It is first found as a protein associated with macromolecular tRNA synthetase complex. Within this complex, p43 specifically interacts with arginyl-tRNA synthetase to help the substrate tRNA binding to the enzyme. It is also necessary for the cellular stability of arginyl-tRNA synthetase and the molecular association of a few complex-forming tRNA synthetases. (omitted)

  • Structure and activity of a helical antimicrobial peptide with a central proline (P14) and its alanine derivative (P14A) were investigated by NMR spectroscopy and biological assay. Chemical shift analysis showed that both of the peptides formed curved helix and P14 showed diminished stability near proline due to hindrance of hydrogen bonding by proline.(omitted)

  • In this study, LPC cepstrum coefficients are used as feature vector extracted from AR model of EMG signal, and a reduced-connection network whlch has reduced connection between nodes is constructed to classify and recognize EMG functional classes. The proposed network reduces learning time and improves system stability Therefore it is Ehown that the proposed network is appropriate in recognizing function of EMG signal.

  • The synthesis and some biological properties of $7{\beta} $-[2-(Z)-(2-aminothiazole-4-yl)-2-(N-substitutedcar bonyl)ethoxyiminoacetamido]-3-vinyl-3-cephem-4- carboxylic acid are described. The effect of substituents on the carbamoly group in the 7-side chain were investigated in order to improve antibacterial activities. Two of these new orally active $7{\beta} $-lactam derivatives showed wide expanded antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as good stability to $7{\beta} $ -lactamases.

Study of Collective Synchronous Dynamics in a Neural Network Model

  • A network with coupled biological neurons provides various forms of collective synchronous dynamics. Such phase-locking dynamics states resemble eigenvectors in a linear coupling system in that the forms are determined by the symmetry of the coupling strengths. However, the states behave as attractors in a nonlinear dynamics system. We here study the collective synchronous dynamics in a neural system by using a novel theory. We exhibit how the period and the stability of individual phase-locking dynamics states are determined by the characteristics of synaptic couplings. We find that, contrary to common sense, the firing rate of a synchronized state decreases with increasing synaptic coupling strength.

  • Carbocyclic nucleosides are unique class in which a methylene group replaces the oxygen in the furan, which result in metabolic stability to endogenous phosphorylase. The biologically active natural carbocyclic nucleosides such as aristeromycin and neplanocin were found to possess interesting biological properties including antiviral and antitumor activity. 승촌보의 상류구간 및 하류구간에서 어류 종 조성 및 분포특성 (Fish Compositions and Distribution Characteristics in the Upstream and Downstream Region of Seungchon Weir)

  • Seungchon Weir was constructed in 2010 on the downstream region of Yeongsan River watershed for four major river projects. The purpose of our study was to determine whether fish compositions and distributions differ between the upper ($U_w$) and lower regions ($L_w$) of Seungchon Weir during May - December 2011 along with hydroacoustic fish surveys using Eco-Sounder monitoring ($E_SM$) technique. Total number of fish species sampled by conventional fish sampling at all sites was 29, and 21 and 24 species occurred in the $U_w$ and $L_w$, respectively. Most dominant species was Hemiculter eigenmanni (43%) in the $U_w$ and Opsaiichthys uncirostris amurensis (21%) in the $L_w$, indicating a distinct differences of the species composition. According to hydroacoustic approach of ESM, fish density was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in the $L_w$ section of 250 m than any other sections, This outcome indicates that fishes moving toward the upstream were blocked by weir construction. According to analysis of tolerance guilds, tolerant species (TS) were made of 88% and 79% in the $U_w$ and $L_w$ region, respectively, while the proportions of sensitive species were < 0.1% of the total in the both regions. Trophic guild analysis showed that the proportion of omnivore species were 58% and 40% in the $U_w$ and $L_w$ region, respectively, while insectivores were made of 16% and 21% in the $U_w$ and $L_w$ region, respectively. Both analyses of tolerance guilds and trophic guilds indicate the biological degradation of the waterbody. Fish community structure analysis, based on species diversity, dominance, and evenness indices, showed higher community stability in the $L_w$ region than $U_w$ region. Exotic species of largemouth bass were largely increased in this survey (14%), compared to the past (< 1%), indicating a modification of fish trophic structure.

안티몬 도핑된 주석 산화물에 담지된 백금 촉매의 에탄올 산화 반응 및 안정성 연구 (Ethanol Electro-Oxidation and Stability of Pt Supported on Sb-Doped Tin Oxide)

  • 안티몬 도핑된 주석 산화물(ATO)에 담지된 백금 촉매(Pt/ATO)의 에탄올 산화반응에 대한 활성과 전기화학적 안정성을 평가하였다. Pt 콜로이드 입자를 ATO 입자에 담지하여 Pt/ATO 촉매를 제조하였으며, 제조된 촉매는 X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), 그리고 cyclic voltammetry를 이용하여 평가하였다. Pt/ATO 촉매의 에탄올 산화 활성은 Pt/C, PtRu/C에 비해 크게 우수하였다. Pt/ATO 촉매의 전기화학적 안정성 또한 Pt/C에 비해 우수하였으며, TEM 사진을 통하여 확인한 결과 Pt/ATO의 안정성은 Pt입자의 성장 속도가 Pt/C에 비해 느리기 때문인 것으로 확인되었다. 위의 결과로부터 ATO 나노입자가 직접 에탄올 연료전지용 담지체로서, 활성 및 안정성 향상을 기대할 수 있는 물질임을 확인하였다.

  • 지속가능성이란 사회적, 경제적, 환경적인 영향을 전반적으로 고려하며, 인간의 건강과 생활 증진을 내포하고, 환경자원의 보호와 경제적 번영을 의미한다. 지속가능성에 대한 심도 있는 이해는 이러한 환경적인 영향에 대한 고려뿐만 아니라 원료 및 자원채취, 이송, 생산 협력의 전반적인 순환을 다루어야 한다. 화학산업의 지속가능한 발전은 화학공정안전의 발전을 통한 상호보완적인 강화없이 이루어지기 어렵다. 이러한 관점에서 화학공정안전은 국제시장에서 경쟁력 강화의 기회라고도 할 수 있다. 화학공정안전의 변화하는 새로운 패러다임은 현존하는 시스템과 생산공정의 기본 디자인을 고려한 총체적 순환 전 과정으로부터 나온다. 이렇게 화학공정안전을 향상시키기 위해서는 관리 시스템을 포함한 정량적 위험성 평가 방법과 다양한 공정안전 데이터 및 지식베이스를 포함한 통합 스마트시스템의 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 화학산업안전의 전 과정 순환의 필요성에 대해 언급하였고, 이를 향상시키기 위한 공정안전 신기술에 대해 논의하였다. 변화하는 공정시스템공학에서 사고 없는 지속 가능한 산업의 발전을 위해서는 3 가지의 S, 즉 안전(Safety), 안정(Stability), 안보(Security)의 조합이 적절히 이루어져야 할 것이다.
