The aim of this work was to study the relationship between subjective symptoms and binocular function during near work in forty one(12-17yr) schoolchildren. CISS symptom survey, amplitude of accommodation, accommodative facility, neagative relative accommodation(NRA)/positive relative accommodation(PRA) near point of convergence(NPC), heterophoria, AC/A ratios were measured. The results of measurement were compared with normal expected value of each test and classified into normal and abnormal group. Accommodative insufficiency was more general than convergence insufficiency and esophoria was greater than exophoria. NRA/PRA showed very high and AC/A ratios were very low compare with normal expected value. The results of CISS was as follows; most frequent symptom was tired, mean score was $16.63{\pm}7.49$, mean number of symptoms were $10.07{\pm}3.04$, and mean number of serious symptoms were $1.98{\pm}2.13$. After classified into 4 groups according to score of symptoms, number of symptoms, and degree of symptoms and then analyze the correlation compare with binocular vision test results. NRA was most correlated with group comparison, accommodative facility was most correlated with score of symptoms, NRA was most correlated with number of symptoms, and near horizontal phorias were most correlated with serious symptoms. NRA showed most correlative relation with near symptoms.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure the active force of extraocular muscles on mono- and binocular movements for 62 healthy koreans (male: 29, female: 33). Methods: The force of adduction, abduction, elevation and depression, of right and left eye on monocular movement were tested with horizontal moving distance based on corneal limbus and the force of superior oblique muscle and inferior oblique muscle on binocular movement were measured with vertical moving distance between corneal limbus. The distances were obtained by high resolution digital image processing. Results: At monocular movements of tested subjects. the power of abduction, adduction, elevation and depression of right and left eye were (male) 9.35 nun, 9.75 mm, (female) 9.02 mm, 9.52 mm, (male) 10.23 mm, 10.16 mm, (female) 10.17 mm, 10.07 mm, (male) 7.01 mm,6.91 mm, (female) 6.98 mm, 6.64 mm, (male) 7.52 mm, 6.82 mm, (female) 7.52 mm, 6.67 mm, respectively. The active force of binocular movements were 54.8% hyperergasia and 45.1% hypergasia/67.7% hyperergasia and 32.2% hypergasia with inferior oblique muscle, 64.5% hyperergasia and 35.5% hypergasia/58.1% hyperergasia and 41.9% hypergasia with superior oblique muscle, respectively. Conclusions: The force of horizontal movement was higher than vertical movement. The value of adduction was higher than abduction on horizontal movement, and the value of depression was higher than elevation on vertical movement. In the both of inferior and superior oblique muscle, the ratio of hyperergasia was higher than that of hypergasia.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare binocular functions such as near point of convergence (NPC), AC/A ratios, heterophoria, accommodation, accommodation lag, positive relative accommodation (PRA), negative relative accommodation (NRA), positive relative convergence (PRC), negative relative convergence (NRC) in normal subjects and convergence insufficiency. Methods: 86 subject (male n=45, female n=41, mean $age{\pm}SD=23.27{\pm}2.85$ years) without amblyopia, strabismus, and ocular pathology were studied. Forty three patients each group were classified as normal subjects and convergence insufficiency group based on AC/A ratio and far and near phoria. Binocular function of the two groups was measured using phoropter. r. Results: The values between normal subjects and convergence insufficiency were 5.71 cm and 7.07 cm for NPC, 5.28 and 2.81 for Heterophria AC/A, 0.92 exo/3.36 exo and 2.17 exo/10.84 exo for far and near phoria, 15.49/23.30/13.30 and 13.50/20.02/9.09 for PRC, respectively. However, there were no significant differences between normal subjects and convergence insufficiency for accommodative amplitude, accommodative lag, PRA, NRA, BI vergence test, BO vergence test, NRC. Conclusions: Both groups were a significant difference for cover test, NPC, Heterophria AC/A, far and near phoria, break point of PRC, and recovery point of PRC.
Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the current status of visual acuity for elementary school students in Muan-gun and to analyze improvements of their visual function after vision training for the elementary school students who have either insufficiency of accommodation or vergence. Methods: Subjective refraction, objective refraction and binocular function were examined for 335 elementary school children from year 1 to year 6 live in Muan area, and then 47 students who have symptoms of binocular dysfunction among them were selected. We analyzed and compared between before and after vision training (VT) in binocular vision function results. Results: The results show that most of the subjects had much problem in near point convergence (NPC) than accommodation. After the vision training, the average of subjects NPC was improved about 5.93 cm, from $11.57 {\pm}1.850$ cm for before VT to $5.66{\pm}0.965$ cm for after VT. After VT positive fusional vergence at near distance after VT was $19.64{\pm}3.66$$\Delta$, which was as much as double of near phoria. Accommodative amplitude was improved from $10.02{\pm}2.566$ D for before VT to $12.30{\pm}1.397$ D for after VT, which similar to mean of expected accommodative amplitude of 11.27 years old. Conclusions: Among insufficiency of accommodation and vergence NPC was improved specially, and accommodative facility and other ocular functions were also improved. Therefore, it is considered the vision training is very effective to recover from visual function problems.
Purpose: This was a study of the effects of the vision training on binocular function and sensory anomaly for intermittent exotropia and recurrent intermittent exotropia patients. Mehtods: The change was examined weekly at the clinic during the 8 week vision training. The sample group of 17 patients, intermittent exotropia and recurrent intermittent exotropia patients without amblyopia, were chosen from the patients with the short and the long-distance deviation angle p=0.558 and p=0.338, and also greater than 10${\Delta}$, respectively. Results: The longdistance deviation angle was reduced by 67.9(${\pm}$32.7)%, and the short-distance deviation angle by 75.4(${\pm}$32.9)% after the vision training. There is an improvement on the binocular function and sensory anomaly according to the fusion reverse and Worth 4 dot tests. Conclusions: This study shows that the vision training is effective for phoria, function and sensory anomalyon of the intermittent extropia and recurrent intermittent exotropia patients.

This paper presents the effective technique to design a six-axis load cell by using experimental design with an orthogonal array. A binocular structure is used as a basic sensing element for a load cell instead of the parallel plate structure. The finite element method is adopted to obtain strain distributions of the sensing element, and by doing the analysis of variances, its results are utilized in determining the factor which is more influential to the output strain. Calibration test results show that the developed six-axis loa cell with the maximum capacities of 196 N in forces and 19.6 N. m in moments is evaluated to be useful with the coupling error less than 2.5%.
The binocular functional test was performed in test of both accommodation and convergence. The balance of accommodation and convergence was important. Objects were 100 adults in 18-36 years old ages. The used apparatus was vision tester(Shinnippon VT10)and visual chart(Shinnippon CT30). Accommodative lag test by fused cross cylinder were that in case of high 39.0%, in case of low 14.0%. Negative relative accommodation were that in case of high 23.0%, in case of low 38.0%. Positive relative accommodation were that in case of high 29.0%, in case of low 23.0%. In 18% were case of low accommodation.

In this paper, the parallel model for stereo camera is employed to find the heralding angle and the distance between a leading vehicle and the following vehicle, BART(Binocular Autonomous Research Team vehicle). Two TDNNs (Time Delay Neural Network) such as S-TDNN and A-TDNN are introduced to control BART. S-TDNN controls the speed of the following vehicle while A-TDNN controls the steering angle of BATR. A human drives BART to collect data which are used for training the said neural networks. The trained networks performed the vehicle tracking function satisfactorily under the same driving conditions performed by the human driver. The neural network approach has good portability which decreases costs and saves development time for the different types of vehicles.

Most algorithms utilized the horizontal epipolar lines for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision. However, the requirement is very difficult to be satisfied in real situations. In this paper, we propose a binocular-stereo matching algorithm, based on line matching method, which does not require the horizontal epipolar lines of the extreme pixels of a given line segment and two circles whose radius is equal to the maximum disparity. And we use the features including the direction of line segments, edge strength and cross-correlation for line matching. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can be a useful tool for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision.
