  • Bell's palsy is an acute facial paralysis caused by peripheral facial nerve dysfunction. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of Korean medicine in the treatment of three patients who were hospitalized and diagnosed with Bell's palsy within 2 weeks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. The patients were administered with Korean medicine treatments, steroids, and antiviral drugs. Moreover, the Korean medicine treatments include acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, physical therapy, and herbal medicine. Symptom improvement was evaluated daily using the Yanagihara facial nerve grading system, a facial function evaluation tool. Furthermore, it was suggested that the patients affected by Bell's palsy after COVID-19 infection may have a slower improvement in their treatment progress compared with those without COVID-19 infection in the acute stage.

  • Taepyeongso was introduced from China during the end of the Goryeo period and was used widely in Daechwita (military processional music), Pungmul-nori (farmers music), Buddhist music, royal ancestral rite music, and Sinawi, the instrumental accompaniment to shaman dances. Now, It has been popular as it is used for pop music and it is easy to learn. In this paper, Taepyeongso was analyzed for electronic Taepyeongso using physical modeling. We extracted resonance properties of Taepyeongso through the analysis of Taepyeongso sound. We analyzed the bell, the bore and the mouthpiece using FFT and LPC curve. As a result, the bell could be represented 2 pole filter and reflection filter between bore and bell.

  • We describe a new approach for building organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which is based on physical lamination (i.e. soft contact lamination (ScL)) of thin metal electrodes supported by an elastomeric layer (polydimethylsiloxane) against an electroluminescent organic. We find that the devices fabricated have much better performance than those constructed with conventional vacuum deposition process. In addition, the ScL is intrinsically compatible with the technique of soft lithograph so that it is easy to build patterned OLEDs with feature sizes into the nanometer regime.

  • The usual arithmetic operations on real numbers can be extended to arithmetical operations on fuzzy intervals by means of Zadeh's extension principle based on a t-norm T. Dombi and Gyorbiro proved that addition is closed if the Dombi t-norm is used with two bell-shaped fuzzy intervals. Recently, Hong [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 158(2007) 739-746] defined a broader class of bell-shaped fuzzy intervals. Then he study t-norms which are consistent with these particular types of fuzzy intervals as applications of a result proved by Mesiar on a strict f-norm based shape preserving additions of LR-fuzzy intervals with unbounded support. In this note, we give a direct proof of the main results of Hong.

  • This study is to be investigated through component analysis and metallurgical texture in order to save an information of the manufacturing technique for the bronze bell in Naksan-sa. The bronze bell was analyzed with nine samples not stirred by the fire and except the contents of tin is the maximum and minimum the average of Cu is 81.8wt%, Sn is15.8wt% and indicates that some impurities are in it. With the result of an analysis of component and microtexture for impurities material which exists in it with using the SEM-EDS, the material was revealed the sulfur. As the result of these factors, the bronze bell of Naksan-sa is used from ore which mainly consist of the Chalcopyrite($CuFeS_2$) or Bornite($Cu_5FeS_4$) containing much sulfur.

  • This study shows the comparison of chemical compositions of main component with other bronze bells after the research on the component analysis by non-destructive XRF analysis. There are shrinkage cavities caused by the shrinkage defect and pores with pollutants on Bronze Bell of Heungguksa Temple with gamma radiation images and 77.3% of copper, 8.4% of tin and 10.9% of lead were determined as the main components of it with XRF analysis The tin content of Brozen Bell of Heungguksa Temple is less than those (11~18%) of other bronze bells but the lead content of that is higher. The lead content of it shows 10.91% which is quite high while generally the lead contents of other bells were controlled lower than 2.1%. Buddhist bells have the different lead content according to the period. The lead content was low until Silla Dynasty and Unified Silla period but it has been getting higher since some point of Koryo Dynasty. It is assumed that expensive copper and tin were replaced with lead.

  • Hakka is a very special sub-ethnic group in China, which was formed during several migrations in Chinese war history. Today the majority of Hakka people, living in the boundary between Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Fujian province, still keep a quite old custom and culture. The bell hat for children is a unique and splendid illustration. We have imposed researches and studies in local area a lot and interviewed the local crafts-women to get to know more about bell hat. We are trying to describe the decorations on the bell hat, silver items and embroidery respectively, and then give an overall analysis of Chinese auspicious culture that the motifs of decorations have contained.

  • To investigate the characteristics of the sound-pipe on the top of King Song-Dok bell, using computer simulation, the throat impedance was evaluated for the straight pipe and conical pipes with varying taper angles. When sound propagates in a rigid walled, unflanged circular pipe with wavelength larger than radius, the acoustic motion is planar, much as in a bar. The incident sound waves are reflected at the end of pipe and some of them are transmitted. The reflection coefficient and radiation impedance of the sound-pipe of King Song-Dok bell were calculated, and the results demonstrated that the high frequency sound is radiated through the sound-pipe. It behaves like a frequency filter.

  • A method to reconstruct the sound field around a Korean bell is developed. The sound radiation problem is formulated based on the boundary element method by using the algorithm of the acoustical holography. Sound pressures at the hologram surface are measured and used as input data for the analysis program that was developed in this study. An error minimization scheme is presented to overcome difficulties that arise in the backward reconstruction of the BEM-based acoustical holography In the model fictitious source surfaces were also introduced to reduce the complexity stemmed from the source shape. The sound field associated with the (4.0) vibrational mode of the Korean bell was visualized and verified experimentally.
