The characteristics of traditional childbirth and childcare custom on Jeju were studied by interviews of 134 elder women over 60. This established the nature of traditional custom of prenatal care, delivery, child rearing, and traditional ceremonies for baby as well as popular beliefs. The survey of current childbirth and childcare practices included 168 parents of kindergarteners. Results showed that traditional childbirth and childcare custom of Jeju is based in self-reliance, effectiveness, labor, and popular beliefs and that the heritage consisting of traditional postpartum foods, bathing of the newborn baby, use of a cradle, shamanistic prescriptions, and acupuncture is prevalent today.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of functional ability on relocation among the elderly. Longitudinal data from the Asset and Health Dynamics among the Oldest Old (1993, 1995) were analyzed for 6,225 respondents aged 70 or older. Among functional ability measures, difficulties in advanced activities of daily living (i. e., making telephone calls, taking medications, and managing money), lower body activities (i. e., walking several blocks, climbing one flight of stairs, pulling or pushing large objects, and carrying over 10 pounds), and household activities of daily living (i. e., preparing hot meals and shopping for groceries) were the predictors of increased residential move. Difficulties in basic activities of daily living (i. e., bathing, dressing, getting in and out, and using the toilet) were strongly related to increased entrance into an institutional care facility. Efforts to enhance the independent living of the elderly in the community setting should target the compensation of these functional difficulties.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the types of expression of fashion magazine advertising using the Foote, Cone and Belding(FCB) GRID model. Consequently, this study examined the presentation of fashion magazine advertising. The fashion magazine advertising(771 cases in women's magazines, 120 cases in men's magazines) was classified according to the FCB GRID model. The fashion magazine advertising was categorized into high involvement-feeling goods(jewelry, accessories, bags, shoes, perfumes, men and women dresses, jeans, bathing suits etc.), low involvement-feeling goods(casual wears, imitation accessories etc.), high involvement-thinking goods(cosmetics, underwears, sports shoes etc.) and low involvement-thinking goods(hair goods, sports wears, undergarments etc.). A great of the fashion advertising consisted of photography and the emotional approach. Thinking goods placed emphasis on the functional value, whereas high involvement-feeling goods placed emphasis on the emotional value and low involvement-feeling goods on the fashionable value.

The objective of this study is to survey environmental substances for the preservation of the seashore national park. The sea water near Tae- An national park was clear but the water of the harbor was polluted with wastewater from ships and sewage. The sea water at the bathing resorts was clear but may be polluted by wastewater from near by sea water. The public environmental index containing air, water, noise, open space and land scape of Tae- An seashore national park was high The concentration of total suspended solids in the air was lower than that of standard levels. When the surroundings of the national park are developed, the effects of development will be estimated.

Purpose : The purpose of this study investigate method and effect of traditional hydrotherapy and therapeutic hydrotherapy. Methods : This is a literature study with books, seminar note and study for traditional hydrotherapy and therapeutic hydrotherapy. Results : Traditional hydrotherapy in Korea include balneotherapy, medicine herbs bathing therapy, hand and foot hot bath therapy, contrast bath. Therapeutic hydrotherapy include whilpool bath, Hubbard bath, contrast bath, pool bath using mechanical stimulation. Conclusion : Traditional hydrotherapy was static approach method with using water in motion, thermodynamics and water at rest. Therefore in modem hydrotherapy need more dynamic activities in the water. We need scientific research to prove effectiveness of physical therapy and traditional therapy which are known to everybody recently.

The purposes of this study were to effect the upper extremities strength and ADL with upper extremities in frail elders. This study comparison upper extremities strength to pre-exercise and post-exercise and ADL with upper extremities. 30 elders who was in C silver hospital in Busan after resistance exercise during 12 weeks using elastic band, It was confirmed that improvement upper extremities strength and ADL with upper extremities after resistance exercise. As a result of study about effect of elastic band based resistance exercise on ADL of frail elders, it seems to have good effect on over all items(eating, dressing, bathing, make-up, go to a rest room). Therefore, it is necessary to find method about rehabilitation exercise for frail or partial disability elders.

Tap water should be shown the complexity of measures neccessary to secure water quality, especially with respect to drinking and bathing. Designated reservoirs Paldang and Daechung as the Special Environment Protection Areas to regulate new pollution sources and to facilitate construction of wastewater treatment facilities. In this country, 91% of total drinking water resource, consist of 66% stream water, 25% dam water, 7% dune flitrate, 1% each of spring and ground water, are from the surface water. The total volume of annual mean water resources due to precipitation. Over 8% of the total resources are class III as shown in the table., eapecially the water quality of downstream of Nakdong and Yeongsan river are getting worse due to continued economic and social development.

This study was performed to explore relationships between depression and diacomfort. of patients with cast or traction. 112 parients were selected from several hospitals in Jeon-buk province. Data were collected from Feb. 26th. to March, 2nd. of 1996 using survey interview designed by the investigator. Data analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Results were as follows : 1. The depression score and the discomfort score were positively correlated(r=.3654, P=.0001). 2. The result shows that the score of ADLs(activites of daily living) and the score of discomfort were negatively correlated and they were statistically significant(activity r=-.1980, p=.0363 ; eating r=-3483, p=0002 ; bathroom r=-.4207, p=.0001 ; wearing r=-.4602 p=.0001 ; bathing r=-.3489, p=.0002).

The Restroom in house have a main role of bath, excretion, and washing hands. So there are usually bathtub, washbasin, and chamber pot. But the actions of bathing, excretion, and washing hands are not always occur at the same time. So the necessary of sectioning the restroom's space is introduced. In Japan they have some different methods in planning the restroom space. They separate the roles of bathroom and toilet, and develop several types of restroom. And they applicated the several types of restroom to appropriate spaces and floors. These sectioning the restroom's space make the moving line rational and take off the waste of spaces.

노인 및 거동 불편 환자들이 목욕 중 낙상 사고 등을 당하는 비율은 매년 증가하고 있다. 특히 국내 65세 이상 1인 가구 197만 가구는(22년 기준) 가족의 돌봄 없이 혼자 생활하고 있어, 이들이 목욕 중에 사고를 당하는 경우, 빠른 구호가 어려운 상황이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 독거노인의 증가와 낙상 사고의 위험성에 초점을 맞추어 거동이 불편한 환자라도 혼자서 목욕이 가능한, 모든 사용자로부터 접근성을 높인 샤워 부스를 개발 및 연구한다. 요양보호사 두 명과 인터뷰를 하여 실제 상황에서의 문제점을 파악한다. 인터뷰 내용을 바탕으로 사용자의 안전을 1순위로 고려하고, 사용 편의성 및 청결을 유지하는 방안을 고려한다.
